Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

English is the subject in which a child can understand every lesson and still lose marks. The reading passage is answered too loosely, the letter misses its format, or a literature answer retells the story instead of making a point. In the Itanagar capital region, where CBSE lists the state's government schools among its affiliated schools, many students sit the CBSE English papers, and the work a tutor does is the same whatever language the family speaks at home: read closely, plan before writing, and speak in full sentences. Tell NXTutors the class, the skill that worries you and your locality, and we suggest two or three English tutors with their fees shown. The first class is a free demo.
Before matching, we ask which of four skills is weakest, because each needs a different kind of tutor and a different kind of lesson.
| Skill | How the weakness shows | What the tutor does |
|---|---|---|
| Reading | Answers that are true in general but not supported by the passage | One timed unseen passage a week, every answer traced back to a line |
| Grammar | The same errors returning in every piece of writing | Errors collected from the child's own work and fixed one pattern at a time |
| Writing | Good ideas in a loose order, formats forgotten | Formats learned once; then a plan of points before every paragraph |
| Speaking | Short answers, hesitation, reluctance to explain | A spoken summary at the end of each lesson, growing into short talks |
CBSE's 2026-27 curriculum divides the Class 10 English Language and Literature board paper into reading, grammar, writing and literature, with the school adding internal marks. With the weights in view, lesson time can be shared out by marks rather than by whatever chapter the class has reached this week.
The CBSE home tutors in Itanagar page explains how English fits into the wider Class 10 year, including the two board exams.
With 40 marks at stake, literature is where tuition pays back fastest. The usual problem is not knowledge of the story but the shape of the answer. A child who has read the chapter twice may still write a summary when the question asks for a judgement about a character, or go far over the word limit and run out of time later in the paper. A tutor can change that with a simple routine:
A pair of literature answers each week, planned first and then marked for relevance and length, usually lifts the final score more than an extra hour of grammar drills.
CBSE English Core in Class 11 is weighted 26 for reading, 23 for grammar with creative writing, and 31 for the Hornbill and Snapshots literature. Grammar leaves the Class 12 paper and literature takes a larger share, so the tutor's attention shifts towards longer, better-argued answers and the writing tasks. A senior student who also has science or commerce coaching often treats English as the easy subject until the pre-boards; a light weekly session through the year is cheaper than a rescue in the final term.
In the early classes, fluent reading matters far more than any paper. The signs that a child needs help are easy to spot: guessing a word from its first letter, losing the line, or putting a book down after a page. What helps is little and often. The tutor has the child break new words into sounds, listens to a page read aloud and corrects kindly, and then asks for the story back in the child's own sentences. A short, focused session works better than a long one. Where English is rarely heard at home, picture books and simple conversation about them train the ear along with the eye. Ask for someone who likes teaching small children; a senior-class specialist is often the wrong fit.
It can, and it supports the board work as well, because listening and speaking carry marks with both CBSE and CISCE. A simple start: each lesson ends with the child explaining the day's passage aloud, in their own words. Over a term that grows into prepared talks and quick-fire questions. If you want spoken confidence for interviews or for its own sake, say so in the request, because it changes which tutor suits. Ideas for practice at home are in our spoken English guide for students.
Under CISCE, ICSE English is examined as a language paper and a literature paper, 80 marks apiece with internal marks on top, and ISC likewise has two papers of 80 with projects attached. IGCSE families should check which English their child is entered for, First Language or Second Language; IB students face analysis of unseen texts and an individual oral. Teachers of these courses are few in the capital region, so an online tutor is often the practical answer. Each of these courses is explained at more length on the national English home tutor page.
Most tutors travel by two-wheeler, shared taxi or auto, and many homes sit in government colonies with a gate. The Itanagar home tutors page covers every locality.
| Locality | Homes | Plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Chandranagar | Colonies above the highway and houses on lanes down to the Senki River | A late-afternoon or weekend slot, as the market end is busy at school closing time |
| E-Sector | Government quarters, officers' colonies and houses near the Secretariat | An early-evening slot after office traffic, and the tutor's name left at the colony gate |
| Zero Point and P-Sector | Quarters in the lettered sectors and houses on the slopes | A tutor from either Itanagar or Naharlagun, getting down at the junction |
| Polo Colony | Government quarters and houses on roads rising from central Naharlagun | Weekend mornings or early evenings, with an online fallback for very wet days |
| Banderdewa | Staff quarters and independent houses in a smaller border town | A home tutor for the core subjects and online English if no local match is free |
From around Class 3, English online is workable as long as the tutor receives the written work ahead of the lesson, photographed or in a shared document. Home lessons suit young readers and anyone whose speaking grows face to face. The online tutors for Itanagar page explains the set-up, and the Itanagar home tuition guide covers each zone.
Missing two or more of these? Let us know and the next shortlisted tutor gives a demo instead. A change of tutor later on costs nothing either.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor decides their own rate; the class, the course, how well they know its paper, the journey at your chosen hour and the number of lessons a week all feed into it. Each fee is on the shortlist before the demo, and the Itanagar fees guide explains more.
Write to us with the class, the board, the weakest skill, a landmark near home, the days and hours that suit, and whether you want home, online or both. A shortlist of two or three tutors, fees included, comes back. Every tutor who joins passes an ID check before the profile is marked Verified. Other subjects: maths and science tutors in Itanagar. English teachers in the capital region can find open requests on Itanagar tuition jobs.
For Itanagar students, CBSE Class 10 English gives literature 40 of the 80 board marks, reading 20, grammar 10 and writing 10. Literature comes from First Flight and Footprints without Feet. Another 20 marks are internal, 5 of them for listening and speaking, so literature deserves regular, marked practice.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each English tutor decides their rate from the class, the course, their knowledge of its paper, the journey at your hour and lessons per week.
Itanagar families start by sending the class, board, weakest English skill, a landmark, suitable days and hours, and whether they want home, online or both. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and a later change of tutor costs nothing.
A capital-region child in Itanagar who follows every English class usually needs a better answer shape, not more knowledge of the text. A tutor teaches a short routine: underline the command word, note three or four points, support each with the text, then check the word count. Two marked literature answers a week help most.
An Itanagar English tutor can build spoken English alongside board work, since CBSE and CISCE both award marks for listening and speaking. Ending each lesson with a short spoken summary helps the marks and confidence, growing into prepared talks over a term. If interview-ready speaking matters, say so in the request.
Online English tuition can suit Itanagar children from about Class 3, as long as the tutor gets written work ahead of each lesson, photographed or shared online. For children in Classes 1 and 2 still learning to read, a tutor at the same table is usually more effective, at least to begin with.
An English tutor can often reach Polo Colony or Banderdewa, as we look near you first, then in your zone and across the capital region. Polo Colony is reached from central Naharlagun, often by auto for the last stretch. In smaller Banderdewa, families often pair a home tutor for core subjects with online English.
For Itanagar students, CBSE English Core in Class 11 gives 26 marks to reading, 23 to grammar with creative writing and 31 to Hornbill and Snapshots. Grammar leaves the Class 12 paper and literature expands, so longer, well-argued answers and writing tasks become the focus. A light weekly session beats a final-term rescue.
A reading tutor for a young Itanagar child in Classes 1 to 5 should work little and often. That means breaking new words into sounds, listening to a page read aloud with kind correction, and asking for the story back. Where English is rarely heard at home, picture books and talk about them help, so ask for someone who likes small children.
Itanagar students on ICSE, ISC, IGCSE or IB can find English help, though teachers of these courses are few here. An online tutor is often the practical answer. ICSE has separate 80-mark language and literature papers, and IGCSE families should check whether the entry is First or Second Language.
