Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Itanagar
If you teach maths around the capital, the family you meet will usually want someone who knows the NCERT books inside out, writes every step the way a CBSE marking scheme expects, and still turns up on a wet evening when the highway is slow. You will often be the only maths help a student has outside school, so parents look for patience with the basics as much as speed with board questions. A tutor who can show a Class 10 student exactly where a quadratic went wrong, and then set three more like it, is the person they keep.

Itanagar suits a tutor who is willing to mix home and online lessons. The capital region runs along one highway from Chimpu to Banderdewa, monsoon rain slows the hill roads, and some homes sit behind gates in government colonies. This page explains which classes ask for maths here, which parts of the corridor you can realistically cover, what parents check before they say yes, and how to make your profile and demo count. The live list of open requests, and how leads, credits and payment work, appear further down the page.
The heaviest maths demand comes in the two CBSE board years. CBSE conducts the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations for its affiliated schools, and its own overview lists Arunachal Pradesh's government schools among them, so most Itanagar students you meet will be preparing for those papers. In Class 10, CBSE offers Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basic, and you should ask which one the student has chosen before you plan a single lesson. In Class 12, calculus, matrices, vectors and probability carry the year, and a student who never settled Class 11 functions and limits finds the first weeks hard.
Classes 9 and 11 are where many families first decide they need help. Class 9 brings the first formal geometry proofs, polynomials and coordinate work; Class 11 brings sets, relations, trigonometric functions and the opening of calculus all at once. Parents of Class 11 science students sometimes also ask whether the tutor can keep an eye on JEE Main, which NTA runs; if you take that on, say so on your profile and keep the school syllabus moving first.
Younger students ask too, though less urgently. Parents of Classes 5 to 8 usually want tables, fractions, decimals and word problems made solid before secondary school, and a child who learns at home in another language and studies maths in English often needs the wording of a problem explained before the arithmetic. These lessons are shorter, and they suit a tutor who already has a board student in the same colony.
The corridor has four zones on NXTutors. Itanagar North (Chimpu & Ganga) takes in Chimpu, Chandranagar, Vivek Vihar and Ganga Market, where the shared-taxi counter and auto stand help a tutor without a vehicle. Central Itanagar runs from E-Sector, opposite the Civil Secretariat, through Bank Tinali and C-Sector to Zero Point and Niti Vihar; office traffic peaks at the start and end of the working day, so early-evening maths slots work better. Students in neighbouring sectors can often share one evening of travel.
Naharlagun & Papu Nallah covers Papu Nallah, Barapani, Polo Colony and central Naharlagun; shared taxis run the highway and autos climb the link roads from the daily market. Nirjuli, Banderdewa & Doimukh lie towards Assam on NH-415, and Doimukh has fewer local tutors, so a fixed weekly home slot plus online classes is a sensible offer there. If you are coming from outside Arunachal Pradesh, check the official rules first, since visitors from outside may need a permit.
Families read your profile before they ever meet you, so make it specific. Name the classes and the CBSE papers you teach, say whether you take Standard or Basic in Class 10, and list only the localities you can reach every week, say Polo Colony and Barapani if you live in Naharlagun, rather than the whole highway. Mention if you also teach online, because a parent in Doimukh or Vivek Vihar may prefer two home visits and one video class each week.
The first class is a free demo, and a parent is asked to be at home. Use it to diagnose rather than lecture: give the student four short questions that climb from the previous class to the current chapter, watch where the working breaks, and finish by naming one thing you will fix in the first month. Bring a printed CBSE sample question and show how marks are split across the steps. Parents in the capital often decide on the spot whether your explanation made sense to their child, so keep it calm, clear and honest about what a month can and cannot change.
Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.
Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.
A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Mostly CBSE, whose overview lists Arunachal Pradesh's government schools among its affiliated schools. Some students follow CISCE's ICSE or ISC, the IB or IGCSE, and you can take them at home or online if you know that syllabus. Confirm the board before the demo.
CBSE offers both in Class 10, and the choice belongs to the student and school. Ask at the first contact, because the depth of practice differs, and plan your questions from the matching CBSE sample paper rather than a generic book.
You can, but list only what you reach every week. Papu Nallah and Barapani sit between the two towns and are reachable from either side by shared taxi. Students further along the highway can be taught online, which keeps your evenings for teaching rather than travel.
Agree it at the demo. Many tutors move that week's lesson online rather than cancel, so the student does not lose a chapter. Keep a shared notebook or photo routine so you can still check written working over video.
Yes, if you genuinely teach at that level. JEE Main is conducted by NTA; read its information bulletin on the official site for the pattern. Say on your profile that you cover entrance maths, and keep the Class 11 and 12 board syllabus on track alongside it.
No. Joining is free and you start on the Free plan with monthly lead credits; the paid plans are optional. You set your own maths fee, and parents see it before the free first demo. The section below explains how you get paid.
