Women home and online tutor jobs: teaching on your own terms with NXTutors

NXTutors is now taking on women tutors for home, online and hybrid teaching across India. This page is for women who teach, or want to: school teachers and former teachers, graduates and postgraduates, college students who tutor part-time, and subject specialists for IB, IGCSE, ISC or competitive exams. It explains how tuition work reaches you through NXTutors, the choices you keep from the first day, the checks every tutor goes through, and the habits we ask tutors and families to follow so that lessons stay comfortable for everyone.

Tutors on NXTutors are independent. Nobody is employed or placed on a salary; you set your own fee, choose where and when you teach, and decide which families to take on after a demo lesson. Work comes from families who send a request with the class, board and subject they need. We put forward two or three tutors whose profiles fit, the parent sees each tutor's fee before the first class, and that first class is a free demo for the family.

This page makes no promise about how many students you will find or what you will make. That depends on your location, the subjects and classes you offer, the time you can give, and which parents get in touch.

Women tutors welcome

For women tutors: you set the terms

This whole page is written for women tutors, and the short version is this: the decisions stay with you. Pick the mode, the neighbourhoods and the hours, and decide after each demo whether to continue. The Verified badge appears only after the code check and our review of a government photo ID, and real tutors who clear it show the Verified badge. A parent is present for every opening lesson, and the rules in /safeguarding-policy cover every class you teach.

  • Mode of teaching: home, online or hybrid, adjustable whenever you like.
  • Travel: only the neighbourhoods you name, offered closest first.
  • Time: the hours you list are what parents see.
  • First meeting: always a demo where we ask a parent to be present.
  • Gated societies: ask to be entered in the visitor app or gate register.
  • Contact: fees, timings and messages go through the parent.
  • Identity: the check and badge are explained on /how-we-verify-tutors.
  • Exit: stop whenever you need to and tell us through WhatsApp or the contact page.

Read the safeguarding policy and how the ID check works.

How you get tuition work on NXTutors

Six steps from applying to your first class. Swipe to see each step.

  1. Sign up with a one-time code

Wherever you live, start with a code sent to your phone or email. Then decide between home, online or hybrid, and note the neighbourhoods and hours that work for you.

  2. Upload your ID; our team reviews it

Next, put a government photo ID on your dashboard. A member of our team checks it before the profile is marked Verified, and no ID number can be used for a second account.

  3. Your profile carries the Verified badge

Once cleared, your profile carries the Verified badge, listing the classes, boards and subjects you teach, the language you teach in, your neighbourhoods, hours and fee.

  4. A family nearby sends a request

A parent close by, or anywhere for video lessons, asks for help, perhaps mentioning a woman tutor. Of the tutors who fit, two or three are put forward, closest first.

  5. Free demo; the family sees your fee first

The parent knows your fee before the opening lesson, a free demo for the family held where we ask a parent to be present. Teach whatever the student is studying in school now.

  6. Teach at home, online or both

If both sides want to carry on, lessons run at home, over video or both, in a shared room or where the parent can watch. Step away any time and tell us.

Why some families ask for a woman tutor

Some parents, when they send a request, say they would prefer a woman tutor. The reasons vary: a daughter who is more at ease with a woman, a young child who is shy with new adults, or simply what feels comfortable in that household. NXTutors treats this as a preference that a parent is entitled to state, in the same way they might prefer Hindi-medium teaching or weekend lessons.

It says nothing about who teaches better. Men and women teach every subject and every age well, and a preference for a woman tutor is never a comment on the quality of anyone's teaching. We do not publish figures on how often families ask and make no claim about how many such requests there are; the request itself tells you what a particular family wants.

The controls you keep on NXTutors

You choose how you teach. Set your profile to home, online or hybrid. Home means you visit students; online means lessons over video from wherever you are; hybrid means both, either with different students or with the same student, such as weekday lessons at home and a video session before a test. You can change the setting whenever your circumstances change.

You choose where you go. For home lessons, list only the localities you are willing to travel to. Requests are matched nearest first, so a home request reaches tutors who live in the family's area, then tutors who list it as somewhere they travel to, then the wider zone and the city, with online tutors after that. A locality you leave off the list is not used for your home requests.

You choose when you teach. Your hours are on your profile, and parents see them before they book a demo. Mornings only, evenings only, or weekends only are all valid choices.

Every first lesson is a demo where we ask a parent to be present: at home, a parent is in the house; online, a parent can watch. In a gated society, you can ask the family to add you to the visitor app or gate register so every visit is logged. And you can stop any arrangement at any time; tell us through WhatsApp or the contact page, and switching to another tutor is free for the family, so nobody is left stuck.

The ID check and the Verified badge

One check applies to every tutor who joins. A one-time code confirms your phone or email; then, from your dashboard, you upload a government photo ID, giving the document type, its number and pictures of both sides. Our team compares it with your profile, which stays pending until it is switched on, and no document number can sit on two tutor accounts. Real tutors who clear the check display the Verified badge on their card and profile.

What the check establishes is identity, nothing more. It is not police verification, a criminal record search or a judgement of teaching, and parents are told that in plain words. Example profiles on the site are marked as samples, never show the badge and cannot be booked. Every step is described on /how-we-verify-tutors.

Habits that keep lessons comfortable for you and the student

Our /safeguarding-policy sets out rules for tutors and habits for parents, and they protect you as much as the child. Arrange classes, schedules and fees with the parent, never privately with the student. Teach in a room where a parent or another adult is at home, ideally a shared room rather than a closed bedroom; for online lessons, teach in a way the parent can observe and send the class link to the parent's number or a family group.

Do not record lessons or take photos of a student without the parent's written consent, do not give lifts or meet outside class without the parent's agreement, and keep messages in a family group or a parent's phone. Agreeing fees for classes taken, monthly or as you go, avoids awkward arrangements. If anything about a family worries you, stop the classes and tell us; in an emergency, call 112 first. We look into every safeguarding report.

How a request reaches you

Parents describe what they need: the class and board, the subject, where they live, the days and times that work, and whether lessons should be at home or over video. A family can say in its request that it prefers a woman tutor, and parents searching the site can filter tutor profiles for one, so a complete, accurate profile matters. Out of the tutors who fit, two or three are put forward, closest first for home lessons; video lessons are matched on subject, class and board, whatever your city.

Because your fee is on your profile, the parent knows it before the demo and nothing is left to negotiate afterwards. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Families may change tutor later without paying for the switch; if one does, take it as information about fit, not about your ability.

Building a profile that brings the right families

Be specific. Instead of all subjects, list the classes, boards and subjects you have actually taught: CBSE Class 10 science, ICSE Class 8 English, ISC chemistry, IB Maths Analysis and Approaches SL, IGCSE Biology, or Classes 1 to 5 reading and maths. Name your teaching medium, Hindi, English or a regional language, beside each subject. CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, the IB, Cambridge IGCSE and the state boards each ask different things of a tutor, so the board on your profile decides which requests you are offered.

Then describe how a lesson with you runs: how you start, how you check understanding, how you keep parents informed. A clear photo and a few honest sentences help a parent who is comparing two or three tutors. Keep your localities and hours up to date as students join, so new requests only arrive when you can take them.

Tutor plans and getting started

Joining NXTutors as a tutor is free, and the Free plan includes 160 lead credits a month for unlocking the requests you want to answer. Paid plans on /pricing are optional: they add visibility, AI tools and more credits, and none of them is a fee to apply for a tuition. What you charge families is a different matter entirely: that figure is yours, and parents see it on your profile.

Getting started takes four steps: a one-time code to confirm your phone or email, a profile with your classes, boards, subjects, localities, hours and fee, a government photo ID uploaded for review, and then a live profile that families near you, or anywhere for video lessons, can be offered.

Why tutors choose NXTutors

What is different from a directory listing or a tuition bureau.

  • You set your fee

Your fee per class is on your profile, and families see it before the demo, so there is no haggling after a good class.

  • Matched, nearest first

Each request goes to two or three tutors who fit it, nearest first, not to a long list of people chasing the same family.

  • Demo first

The first class is a free demo. Families decide after meeting you, not from a phone call or a price list.

  • No made-up leads

We never show invented requests. The only request details on these pages are real and anonymised, and only once there are three or more.

  • An ID check for everyone

Every tutor who joins goes through the same ID check. Real tutors who pass carry the Verified badge; sample profiles are always labelled.

  • AI-first, with real teachers

Parents can ask NXT AI about your profile and compare tutors side by side. The teaching is always yours.

Tutor plans and what each includes

Tutor plans are listed on our pricing page with what each one includes. Read them before you apply; we do not quote prices on this page. Tutors are independent: you set your own fee, and families pay you for the classes they take.

Questions from tutors

Can I teach only online as a woman tutor?

Yes. Set your profile to online only, and you will be matched on subject, class and board rather than location, so families anywhere in India can be offered your name. You can add home lessons later, limited to the localities you choose, or keep teaching online only for as long as you like.

Can I choose which areas I travel to for home lessons?

Yes. Home requests use only the localities you list, and matching goes nearest first. List the places you can reach comfortably at the hours you keep, and leave out anywhere you would rather not go. You can change the list at any time from your profile.

Will a parent be present when I teach at someone's home?

For the demo, a parent is at home. For regular lessons, our safeguarding policy asks families to keep an adult at home, especially for younger children, and to hold classes in a shared room. If that is not the case, or anything else worries you, stop the classes and tell us.

Is the ID check a police verification?

No. It establishes who you are: a code confirms your phone or email, and our team reviews a government photo ID before anyone can see your profile. It is not a criminal record or background search. Real tutors who clear it display the Verified badge, and /how-we-verify-tutors sets out each step.

Do I have to take on every family that is offered my name?

No. You are independent, and the demo is where both sides decide. If the timings, the travel or anything else about an arrangement does not suit you, you need not continue. Keep your localities accurate so the home requests you are shortlisted for are ones you can reach, and keep your hours current so families see when you teach.

Do women tutors pay to join NXTutors?

No. Joining is free, and the Free plan includes 160 lead credits a month. Paid plans on /pricing are optional extras for visibility, AI tools and more credits. The fee you ask of families is a separate figure, chosen by you and visible to parents before the demo.

What if I want to stop teaching a family?

You can stop at any time. Tell the parent and let us know through WhatsApp or the contact page; if the reason is a safeguarding concern, mark it Safeguarding and we will look into it. Switching to another tutor is free for the family, so the student is not left without help.
