Weekend tutor jobs: Saturday and Sunday lessons, home or online

Saturday morning is when many households finally have time to think about school. Parents who leave before breakfast and return after dinner on weekdays want to meet the tutor, sit in on the first lesson, and see the notebook for themselves. Students in senior classes, worn out by weekday school and coaching, often prefer one unhurried session at the weekend to a rushed hour after a long day. That is the demand a weekend tutor serves.

If your weekdays belong to a job, college or family, weekend tuition can be a sound way to teach regularly. This page covers who tends to ask for weekend lessons, how to design a longer session that does not collapse after forty minutes, how to cover the five days in between, and how to keep weekends from swallowing your own life. Joining NXTutors is free, and nothing on this page promises a number of requests or any income.

How you get tuition work on NXTutors

Six steps from applying to your first class. Swipe to see each step.

  1. Sign up with a one-time code

Decide which weekend hours you can give every week, and which you will keep for yourself.

  2. Upload your ID for the ID check

Apply on WhatsApp; joining is free. The team sets up your account and you confirm with a one-time code.

  3. Your profile carries the Verified badge

Mark weekends-only on your profile, list nearby travel areas and upload your ID for the check.

  4. A family nearby sends a request

Read the timing line on each masked lead before unlocking; weekday-only requests are not for you.

  5. Free demo; the family sees your fee first

Hold the free demo on a Saturday or Sunday when both parents can watch, and outline the next four weeks.

  6. Teach at home, online or both

Teach in planned blocks, set work for the week and agree a light midweek check-in.

Which families ask for weekend lessons?

Three groups come up again and again. Working parents who want to be present, especially for a young child's first weeks with a new tutor. Senior students in Classes 11 and 12 whose weekday evenings are already filled with school, practicals and sometimes coaching, and who want a long problem-solving block on Sunday. And international-board students, whose coursework and past-paper practice suit a single extended session better than short weekday ones.

Some schools hold classes or activities on certain Saturdays, so a Saturday slot that works in one month can clash in the next. Ask the family early which Saturdays the school uses and agree a fallback, such as moving to Sunday afternoon in those weeks.

Designing a longer weekend session

A ninety-minute or two-hour lesson is not a one-hour lesson stretched. Split it into blocks: a short recall at the start on last week's work, the new idea taught with examples, a stretch of independent practice where you watch rather than talk, and a final ten minutes reviewing errors and setting the week's tasks. A five-minute break in the middle helps younger children and does no harm to older ones.

Plan the session around what the school taught that week, not around your own sequence. Ask the student to bring the class notebook and any marked test; weekend tutors who work from the school's actual pages are far more useful than those who start a parallel syllabus.

Covering the gap between weekends

The weakness of weekend-only tuition is the five-day silence. A student who gets stuck on Tuesday waits until Saturday, and by then the homework has been handed in wrong. Agree a simple way to bridge it: practice set on Sunday with a check on Wednesday by photo, or a fifteen-minute online check-in midweek if you have a free evening. Keep it light and predictable so it does not become an unpaid second job.

Tell the parent what you will and will not do between sessions. A clear arrangement, such as answering homework questions sent before 8 pm on Wednesday, protects your weekdays and still gives the family the support they hoped for.

Fitting several weekend students together

Weekend demand clusters in the late morning and the afternoon. If you teach at home, group students by locality so that Saturday becomes a single loop rather than criss-crossing the city. Keep the list of travel areas on your profile short for that reason; requests outside it will not reach you for home lessons. Online students can fill the early morning or late afternoon slots that are awkward to travel for.

Protect at least part of the weekend for yourself. A tutor who teaches seven hours every Saturday and Sunday tends to burn out by the third month, and families notice when the energy drops. Two or three weekend students you teach well are worth more than six you rush.

Holidays, festivals and exam weekends

Long weekends and festival breaks disrupt weekend timetables more than weekday ones, because families travel. Agree at the start how missed weekends will be handled: moved to another day, made up online, or simply skipped by mutual agreement. Before board exams and school finals, families often ask for an extra session; decide in advance whether you can give it so you are not forced into a hurried yes.

The fee is yours to set per class and the family sees it before the demo. If a weekend session runs longer than an ordinary lesson, agree the length and the fee for it clearly at the outset so there is no confusion later; see how you get paid in the section on fees below.

The weekend demo

The first class with a family you are matched with is a free demo, and weekends make it easy for both parents to attend. Use that: open with five minutes asking the parent what worries them, then teach the student directly while the parent watches, and close by explaining what you would do over the next four weekends. Families choosing a weekend tutor are often choosing for the whole term, so a clear plan matters.

When you unlock a lead, the masked card shows the class, the need, the area, the preferred timing and a budget band, never the family's name or number. If the timing line says weekdays only, do not spend credits hoping to change their mind.

Joining to teach at weekends

Joining is free. Apply on WhatsApp through the form on /become-a-tutor, confirm with a one-time code at first login, then complete your profile: subjects, classes, boards, fee, home or online, the areas you travel to and, in your own words, that you teach on Saturdays and Sundays. Upload a government photo ID under Documents; tutors who join go through an ID check, and the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete.

Paid plans are optional platform subscriptions; you never need one to get weekend students. Related pages: /part-time-tutor-jobs, /evening-tutor-jobs, /working-professional-tutor-jobs and /online-tutor-jobs.

Women tutors welcome

For women tutors: you set the terms

Women tutors are welcome on NXTutors, for home classes, online classes or both. You decide how, where and when you teach. These are the controls the product gives you, and the habits our safeguarding policy asks of tutors and families.

  • Choose home, online or hybrid teaching on your profile, and change it whenever you like.
  • List the areas you travel to: home requests come only from those areas.
  • Set your own days and timings; requests are matched to the hours you give.
  • Every match starts with a demo class, and our safeguarding policy asks the parent to be at home for it.
  • Teach where a parent or another adult is at home; in gated societies the family adds you to the gate or visitor register.
  • Keep messages with the parent or a family group, never a child's private chat.
  • Every tutor who joins goes through the same ID check. It confirms identity; it is not a police check.
  • Stop any time. If anything worries you, stop the classes and tell us on WhatsApp or through the contact page.

Read the safeguarding policy and how the ID check works.

Why tutors choose NXTutors

What is different from a directory listing or a tuition bureau.

  • You set your fee

Your fee per class is on your profile, and families see it before the demo, so there is no haggling after a good class.

  • Matched, nearest first

Each request goes to two or three tutors who fit it, nearest first, not to a long list of people chasing the same family.

  • Demo first

The first class is a free demo. Families decide after meeting you, not from a phone call or a price list.

  • No made-up leads

We never show invented requests. The only request details on these pages are real and anonymised, and only once there are three or more.

  • An ID check for everyone

Every tutor who joins goes through the same ID check. Real tutors who pass carry the Verified badge; sample profiles are always labelled.

  • AI-first, with real teachers

Parents can ask NXT AI about your profile and compare tutors side by side. The teaching is always yours.

Tutor plans and what each includes

Tutor plans are listed on our pricing page with what each one includes. Read them before you apply; we do not quote prices on this page. Tutors are independent: you set your own fee, and families pay you for the classes they take.

Questions from tutors

Can I teach only on Saturdays and Sundays?

Yes. You decide your days. Say clearly on your profile and in every proposal that you teach at weekends only, so families who need weekday lessons can choose someone else without a wasted demo.

How long should a weekend lesson be?

Agree it with the family. Younger children rarely concentrate well beyond an hour; senior and international-board students often benefit from ninety minutes or two hours split into blocks with a short break. Settle the length and fee before you start.

What if the student's school has classes on some Saturdays?

Ask for the school's Saturday pattern at the start and agree a fallback slot, usually Sunday, for those weeks. Write it down in your notes so neither side forgets when the clash comes round.

Do weekend tutors need to help during the week as well?

Not unless you agree to. Many weekend tutors offer a short midweek check, such as reviewing homework photos on one evening, because it keeps the student moving. Make the arrangement clear and limited so it fits your week.

Can weekend lessons be online?

Yes. Set your mode to online or both. Online weekend sessions suit early mornings, students in other cities and long problem-solving blocks where a shared whiteboard works well.

Is there a fee to join or to receive weekend requests?

No. Joining, onboarding and the Free plan cost nothing, and the Free plan comes with monthly lead credits. Unlocking a lead uses credits; paid plans are optional and never required to apply for a tuition.
