Tutoring in Delhi: what to know

Delhi has twelve zones on NXTutors, and each has its own housing pattern. South Delhi's plotted colonies, such as Greater Kailash, Defence Colony and Lajpat Nagar, are now mostly builder floors, with block RWAs keeping guards and registers at their entrances. Dwarka, Rohini, Mayur Vihar and Patparganj are planned DDA sub-cities and pocket colonies where cooperative group housing societies log visitors. Older areas like Karol Bagh, Laxmi Nagar, Shahdara and the Palam lanes are dense floors on narrow streets with no desk but little parking. Knowing which of these you are walking into decides how you plan a first visit.

Rail does a lot of the work for a Delhi home tutor. The Blue, Yellow, Violet, Magenta, Pink, Red and Green Lines between them reach almost every zone, and the completed Pink Line ring and the Magenta Line's run along the Outer Ring Road since March 2026 have joined up north and west Delhi further. Even so, some homes sit away from stations: Vasant Kunj, Alaknanda and Mayur Vihar Phase 3 have none of their own, so an auto or two-wheeler finishes the trip. Ring Road and Outer Ring Road junctions, Vikas Marg, Mathura Road and the busy markets set the evening timing more than distance does.

CBSE is the board most Delhi students sit, CISCE's ICSE and ISC have a sizeable following, and a smaller group study for the IB or Cambridge IGCSE. Requests match class and board as a pair, so a tutor who lists exact boards and classes is easier to place. Home tuition works well where you can walk from a station or ride a short distance within one zone, and two or three neighbouring zones are usually easier to serve than the whole city. Online lessons open up tutors nationwide, which helps most with IB, IGCSE and senior specialist papers that no nearby tutor covers.

How you get tuition work on NXTutors

Six steps from applying to your first class. Swipe to see each step.

  1. Sign up with a one-time code

Sign up with your phone or email and a one-time code, then choose your subjects, classes and boards, and the Delhi zones you can reach by metro or road.

  2. Upload your ID; our team reviews it

Upload a government photo ID for the team to review before the profile is marked Verified. It confirms who you are and is not police verification or a background check.

  3. Your profile carries the Verified badge

Once reviewed, your profile carries the Verified badge, listing your boards and classes, the Delhi zones you travel to, your free hours and the fee you set.

  4. A family nearby sends a request

A parent in Saket or Janakpuri asks for a tutor. We shortlist two or three, nearest first: tutors in the colony, then those who travel there, then the zone, the city and online.

  5. Free demo; the family sees your fee first

The parent sees your fee on the shortlist, and the first class is a free demo in their home with them present, so you can judge the fit and the route.

  6. Teach at home, online or both

Teach at homes along your metro line, online for students across Delhi and India, or both, perhaps a weekend visit across the Ring Road and online classes midweek.

Boards you can teach in Delhi

Delhi tutors are asked mainly for CBSE, which most students sit, then for CISCE's ICSE and ISC, with the IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE for a smaller group. Read each board's own material before a demo, so your plan matches this year's paper.

CBSE

Classes 1–12

CBSE is the board most Delhi students sit. Work from NCERT, rehearse with the sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic.nic.in, and prepare students for case-based and assertion–reason items. Class and board are matched as a pair, so a tutor strong in Class 8 Science should not list Class 12 Physics unless it is genuinely taught.

CISCE (ICSE and ISC)

ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)

CISCE's ICSE at Class 10 and ISC at Class 12 have a sizeable Delhi following. Both are long-answer papers over a broad syllabus, and English carries prescribed literature texts, so a tutor needs the current text list and a plan for project work. Use the regulations and specimen papers on cisce.org.

IB Diploma Programme

Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)

The IB Diploma combines final examinations with internally assessed work. Delhi families ask for named courses such as Physics HL or Maths Analysis and Approaches, and for IA or Extended Essay guidance, which a tutor may give without ever writing the work. Read the subject guides through ibo.org.

Cambridge / Pearson Edexcel IGCSE

IGCSE (Classes 9–10)

Cambridge IGCSE, and Pearson Edexcel's International GCSE, reward exam craft: command words, the right tier, and past papers checked against the official scheme. In Delhi, a specialist can pair a few home visits with online sessions, so a student across the Yamuna or the Ring Road still gets weekly practice.

Where in Delhi tutors are needed

Zones marked "Tutors needed" have the fewest tutors living in or travelling to them, so families there mostly see online tutors today. Add them to your travel areas to reach those families first.

Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam

Tutors needed

Vasant Kunj has no station, so agree whether you drive or take an auto from Vasant Vihar on the Magenta Line, and expect guards at its pocket gates. Palam, Dabri, Mahavir Enclave and Sagarpur are narrow lanes with little parking, where walking from Dashrathpuri, Palam or Dabri Mor or riding a two-wheeler is practical. Ask for the sector letter, pocket and flat before a Vasant Kunj demo.

Dabri, Mahavir Enclave, Munirka, Palam, R K Puram, Sagarpur, Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar

GK, Defence Colony & Lajpat Nagar

Tutors needed

Most plots are now builder floors with a bell per floor, and block RWA guards want your name and the family's floor before the demo. Lajpat Nagar, Moolchand, South Extension and Greater Kailash stations cover the zone, which helps because parking near the M Block and Central markets fills up in the evening. Ask which bell to ring, since each floor often has its own.

Defence Colony, East of Kailash, Greater Kailash 1, Greater Kailash 2, Lajpat Nagar, Pamposh Enclave, South Extension

Saket, Malviya Nagar & Hauz Khas

Tutors needed

Housing ranges from plotted floors in Hauz Khas and Green Park to DDA blocks in Saket and Sheikh Sarai, where the guard checks visitors, and old village lanes in Mehrauli, where a landmark beats a house number. The Yellow Line is the backbone, and crossing the Outer Ring Road at Hauz Khas or Chirag Delhi is easier outside office hours. In Mehrauli, ask for a map pin as well as a landmark.

Chhatarpur, Green Park, Hauz Khas, Malviya Nagar, Mehrauli, Panchsheel Park, Safdarjung Enclave, Sainik Farm, Saket, Sarvodaya Enclave, Sheikh Sarai, Shivalik

Kalkaji, CR Park & Sarita Vihar

Tutors needed

Almost every DDA pocket and cooperative complex here keeps a visitor register, so ask the family for a regular-visitor pass. Kalkaji Mandir joins the Violet and Magenta Lines, Alaknanda has no station of its own, and CR Park's Durga Puja week and temple festival days are times to switch to morning or online lessons. For Sarita Vihar and Jasola, the Sarita Vihar and Jasola Apollo stops are closest.

Alaknanda, Chittaranjan Park, Jasola Vihar, Kalkaji, Nehru Enclave, Sarita Vihar

Lodhi Colony, Jangpura & Nizamuddin

Tutors needed

Lodhi Colony's blocks are open and signposted, while both Nizamuddin colonies check visitors at an RWA gate, so the family should tell the gate you are expected. Jangpura and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on the Violet Line and the Pink Line at Hazrat Nizamuddin bring tutors in, and Mathura Road is heavy at the evening peak. Ask which Nizamuddin entrance to use, since roads near the dargah fill with visitors.

Jangpura, Lodhi Colony, Nizamuddin East, Nizamuddin West

Rohini

Tutors needed

Ask for sector, pocket, block and flat together, because block names repeat across Rohini and the pocket tells you whether Rithala, Rohini Sector 18 or 19, or Deepali Chowk is closest. CGHS societies in Sectors 9, 13 and 16 register visitors, DDA pockets are usually a straight walk in, and the Outer Ring Road is slow in the evening.

Rohini, Rohini Sector 3, Rohini Sector 5, Rohini Sector 7, Rohini Sector 8, Rohini Sector 9, Rohini Sector 11, Rohini Sector 13, Rohini Sector 15, Rohini Sector 16, Rohini Sector 24

Pitampura, Model Town & North Campus

Tutors needed

Ashok Vihar and Model Town are large, so ask for the phase or part; Keshav Puram or Shalimar Bagh suits Ashok Vihar and Model Town station suits Model Town. Near Mukherjee Nagar and GTB Nagar the main roads fill with students in the evening, and Kamla Nagar and Netaji Subhash Place crowd at peak hour, so afternoons work better.

Adarsh Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Civil Lines, GTB Nagar, Kamla Nagar, Kohat Enclave, Model Town, Mukherjee Nagar, Pitampura, Prashant Vihar, Shalimar Bagh

Mayur Vihar, Patparganj & IP Extension

Tutors needed

Society gates in Patparganj, IP Extension and Vasundhara Enclave log every visitor, while DDA pockets in the Mayur Vihar phases usually let you walk to the flat. Phase 3 has no station, so plan the auto from Mayur Vihar Extension or New Ashok Nagar, and avoid the Noida Link Road at office hours. A late-afternoon start is easier to keep, and specialists can widen their reach here online.

IP Extension, Mandawali, Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Mayur Vihar Phase 2, Mayur Vihar Phase 3, Pandav Nagar, Patparganj, Shakarpur, Vasundhara Enclave

Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar & Shahdara

Tutors needed

Most homes are separate buildings where you go straight to the floor, though the Preet Vihar, Vivek Vihar and Surajmal Vihar blocks have RWA gates. Vikas Marg slows sharply at office hours and GT Road peaks in the evening, and parking is scarce in Krishna Nagar and Shahdara, so metro plus e-rickshaw or a two-wheeler is the practical choice.

Anand Vihar, Dilshad Garden, Geeta Colony, Karkardooma, Krishna Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Nirman Vihar, Preet Vihar, Shahdara, Surajmal Vihar, Vivek Vihar, Yamuna Vihar

Dwarka

Open to new tutors

Most families live in cooperative group housing societies that call the flat or check a pre-approved list, so ask to be registered as a regular visitor in the first week. The Blue Line runs through the middle with stations at Sectors 8 to 14 and 21, and evening crowds near the Sector 10 and 12 markets make an earlier start easier.

Dwarka, Dwarka Sector 4, Dwarka Sector 5, Dwarka Sector 6, Dwarka Sector 7, Dwarka Sector 9, Dwarka Sector 10, Dwarka Sector 11, Dwarka Sector 12, Dwarka Sector 13, Dwarka Sector 14, Dwarka Sector 19, Dwarka Sector 22, Dwarka Sector 23

Janakpuri, Rajouri Garden & Punjabi Bagh

Open to new tutors

Four lines cross this zone, the Blue, Magenta, Green and Pink, so a metro rider can reach most colonies and walk the last stretch, which matters near busy markets where parking is hard. Plotted blocks are doorbell visits, DDA pockets and Paschim Vihar societies record you at the gate, and the Ring Road crossing in Punjabi Bagh is slow in the evening. Builder floors in Vikaspuri and Uttam Nagar need only the floor and a landmark.

Hari Nagar, Janakpuri, Kirti Nagar, Moti Nagar, Naraina Vihar, Paschim Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Subhash Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri

Women tutors welcome

For women tutors: you set the terms

Women tutors are welcome on NXTutors across Delhi's twelve zones, for home lessons, online classes or both. You choose where and when: a tutor in Rohini can keep to the Red Line and her own sectors, one in Mayur Vihar to the Blue Line pockets, with everyone else taught online. Each tutor who joins goes through one ID check, families meet you at a free demo where we ask a parent to be present, and the safeguarding policy sets rules for tutors and parents. These are working controls, not promises about anyone's conduct.

  • Choose home, online or hybrid, and change it when your timetable changes.
  • List only the zones you want; if you would rather end evenings near a metro station, pick colonies within a short walk of one.
  • Meet every new family at a free demo held where we ask a parent to be at home.
  • In Dwarka societies, Paschim Vihar and the Nizamuddin colonies, ask the family to register you with the gate or RWA so visits are logged.
  • Keep fees, timings and messages with a parent, not the student's own phone, and teach young children in a shared room.
  • Stop any arrangement that worries you and tell NXTutors, marked Safeguarding; call 112 first in an emergency.

Read the safeguarding policy and how the ID check works.

Why tutors choose NXTutors

What is different from a directory listing or a tuition bureau.

  • You set your fee

Your fee per class is on your profile, and families see it before the demo, so there is no haggling after a good class.

  • Matched, nearest first

Each request goes to two or three tutors who fit it, nearest first, not to a long list of people chasing the same family.

  • Demo first

The first class is a free demo. Families decide after meeting you, not from a phone call or a price list.

  • No made-up leads

We never show invented requests. The only request details on these pages are real and anonymised, and only once there are three or more.

  • An ID check for everyone

Every tutor who joins goes through the same ID check. Real tutors who pass carry the Verified badge; sample profiles are always labelled.

  • AI-first, with real teachers

Parents can ask NXT AI about your profile and compare tutors side by side. The teaching is always yours.

Tutor plans and what each includes

Tutor plans are listed on our pricing page with what each one includes. Read them before you apply; we do not quote prices on this page. Tutors are independent: you set your own fee, and families pay you for the classes they take.

Questions from tutors

How do Delhi families send me tuition work?

They do not contact every tutor. A parent sends the class, board, subjects, colony with its block or pocket, and free hours, and we shortlist two or three tutors: same area first, then those who travel there, then the zone, Delhi and online. The family sees each shortlisted fee before booking a free demo.

Can I teach Delhi students online from anywhere?

Yes. Online requests are not tied to where you live, so subject, board and class decide the fit, and you can take Delhi students from another city. If you live in Delhi, you can also mix online students with home classes in the zones you can reach on time.

How many Delhi zones should I choose?

Fewer is usually better. Pick the zone you live in and one or two you can reach by a single metro ride or a short two-wheeler trip, and leave out those that need a Ring Road or Outer Ring Road crossing at your class times. You can add more zones later.

Is a police check part of joining?

No. NXTutors uses an ID check, not a police or background check. You confirm a phone number or email with a one-time code and upload a government photo ID, which our team reviews before your profile is marked Verified. See How we verify tutors (/how-we-verify-tutors).

What does a Delhi tutor pay, and who fixes lesson fees?

Joining NXTutors and onboarding are free, and the Free plan includes 160 lead credits a month. Paid plans on /pricing are optional platform subscriptions that add visibility, AI tools and more credits; none of them is a fee to apply for a tuition. Lesson fees are yours to set, and Delhi parents see your fee on the profile before their free demo. Families can switch tutors without any charge, so steady timing and visible progress are what keep students with you.

Can women tutors in Delhi choose zones near their own metro line?

Yes. You pick the zones you travel to and the hours you keep free, so you could list only colonies near your line, such as the Red Line sectors of Rohini. Families meet you first at a free demo where we ask a parent to be at home, and other students can be taught online.

Which boards do Delhi families ask for?

Mostly CBSE, which most Delhi students sit, then CISCE's ICSE and ISC, with the IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE for a smaller group. Board and class are matched together, so list exactly which boards and classes you teach rather than a subject on its own.

Can I combine home and online lessons for one Delhi family?

Yes. Select both modes and agree the split with the parent after the demo. If reaching the family means crossing the Ring Road or the Yamuna at rush hour, a weekend home lesson with one or two online classes on weekdays keeps the plan steady.
