Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Vasant Kunj is part of the Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam zone of Delhi. Its defining feature for tuition is simple: it has no metro station of its own yet, so how a tutor gets to your pocket, and when, shapes the whole arrangement. This guide walks through that, along with gates, timing, boards and class stages.
| What | Vasant Kunj |
|---|---|
| Zone | Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam (south-western edge of South Delhi) |

| Main roads | Nelson Mandela Marg, JNU Road, Vasant Kunj Road, Acharya Shree Tulsi Marg, with NH 48 on the airport side |
| Landmarks a tutor can use | Vasant Square Mall (Sector B, Pocket 5), the DLF Promenade and DLF Emporio malls, Ambience Mall, the DDA Vasant Kunj Sports Complex, the Sultan Ghari tomb |
| Where tutors can come from | Neighbouring pockets and sectors, Kishangarh, Mahipalpur and Munirka sides, Magenta Line riders via Vasant Vihar, and online teachers |
| Session windows that tend to work | Before the office rush on Nelson Mandela Marg eases into the evening peak, later evenings for tutors on a two-wheeler, and weekend mornings |
Vasant Kunj was farmland that the government acquired in the 1960s, and parts of it were once agricultural land of Kishangarh village. What grew there is one of South Delhi's more methodically numbered colonies. The residential part has five sectors, lettered A to E. Each sector is divided into pockets (Sector C, for instance, runs from C-1 to C-9), and each pocket is divided again into blocks lettered A to H. An address such as "Block D, Pocket 3, Sector B" is normal, and a tutor needs all three parts.
The housing is mixed. DDA's own housing-scheme lists include two-bedroom MIG and one-bedroom LIG flats spread across Vasant Kunj blocks, and DDA project lists name newer housing built beside Pockets D-6, D-7 and D-8. Property portals add builder floors, independent houses and cooperative group housing societies to the picture, with homes running from one-bedroom flats to much larger ones. Two enclaves, Ruchi Vihar and Tarapore Enclave, are residential areas under military administration, which matters for entry rules (see the gates section below).
Around the residential sectors sit the things that give Vasant Kunj its shape. The South-Central Ridge covers part of the area, with the Sanjay Van forest reached from JNU Road. A large central university campus lies on the north-eastern side. A cluster of malls (DLF Promenade, DLF Emporio and Ambience Mall) stands on DDA-auctioned land near Nelson Mandela Marg, and Vasant Square Mall is inside Sector B. There is also an institutional area with offices, several large hospitals, and the DDA-run Vasant Kunj Sports Complex.
In a one-bedroom DDA flat, the lesson usually happens at the dining table or in the one room that can be cleared, so pick a slot when the household is quieter. A two- or three-bedroom flat, or a builder floor, often has a corner that can be kept as the study spot on lesson days. In a cooperative society, the society office may have its own visitor rules; in a DDA pocket, the block and the pocket RWA usually set them. Either way, the tutor's first question will be the same: which block, which floor, and which stairwell.
Resident reviews of Vasant Kunj on property portals return to a few themes again and again. Here is what each one means for planning home tuition.
Beyond these, the questions are the ones any parent asks. Will the tutor keep the same weekly slot? Do they know my child's board well? And for a senior subject, is a home tutor or an online specialist the better use of the hours? The sections below take each in turn for Vasant Kunj.
Today, no metro line runs through Vasant Kunj's residential sectors. The stop most families name is Vasant Vihar on the Magenta Line, an underground station near the CGHS Colony with four gates; from there a tutor continues by auto, cab or bus. Property portals also mention Chhatarpur on the Yellow Line and Delhi Aerocity on the Airport Express as options, depending on which end of Vasant Kunj you are in. A tutor riding the Magenta Line from the Janakpuri, Palam or Hauz Khas side therefore has one change of mode, not just a walk, and it is fair to ask them how they will cover the last part.
By road, Nelson Mandela Marg is the spine, with JNU Road on the university side, Vasant Kunj Road and Acharya Shree Tulsi Marg inside, and NH 48 on the airport side. DTC and cluster buses, autos and app cabs serve the area. For a tutor coming from another Vasant Kunj sector, or from the Kishangarh, Rangpuri or Mahipalpur side, a two-wheeler is usually the most flexible way in. We do not quote travel minutes, because the same trip can feel very different at 4 pm and 7 pm. Ask each shortlisted tutor which route they will take and when they will set out.
The Golden Line, Delhi Metro's Aerocity–Tughlakabad corridor, is under construction with stations listed at Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj and Kishangarh before it meets the Yellow Line at Chhatarpur. Once it opens, a tutor from the Saket, Chhatarpur or Tughlakabad side should have a more direct ride in. Until DMRC announces an opening, plan on the present routes and treat the new line as a bonus later on.
For a family, the practical takeaway is this: the shortlist you get should favour tutors who are already near your sector or who are comfortable riding in, and online lessons are a real option for subjects where the right specialist lives across the city.
Many Vasant Kunj pockets have guards at the entrance who note each visitor, and cooperative societies often add their own visitor register or app. Before the free demo, give the guard the tutor's name and expected time, and send the tutor the full address: sector letter, pocket number, block letter, flat number and floor. A tutor who knows only "Vasant Kunj, Sector C" can easily spend the first part of the lesson walking between pockets.
Ruchi Vihar and Tarapore Enclave are under military administration, so entry for an outside visitor may follow stricter rules than an ordinary DDA pocket. If you live there, check the procedure for a regular private visitor with your enclave office before the demo, and share it with the tutor.
After the first week, ask the RWA or society office how to set up a standing entry for a regular tutor, so the guard does not have to call you every time. If the tutor rides in, say where visitor two-wheelers can be left.
If you would prefer a woman tutor, say so in your request and we will shortlist a woman home tutor in Delhi where one fits your class, subject and timing. Each tutor joining NXTutors confirms their phone or email with a one-time code and uploads a government photo ID for our team to review. It confirms who is coming to your Vasant Kunj pocket; it is not a police or background check. Read how tutor ID checks work, and keep an adult at home during lessons, especially for younger children.
Most Vasant Kunj requests are for CBSE, Delhi's main board, with ICSE and ISC next, and some for IB or Cambridge IGCSE. For a home tutor in a Vasant Kunj flat, the board changes who can realistically come: plenty of tutors within easy reach handle CBSE school subjects, but an IB Diploma or IGCSE student usually needs someone who has taught that programme before, and that person may live across the city. Because there is no metro inside the colony yet, those families often settle on online lessons for the international subject and a home tutor for the rest.
One CBSE point worth knowing: from 2026, Class 10 students have two board exam opportunities in a year, with the second one meant for improvement. For a fuller comparison of the boards, read our CBSE vs ICSE vs IB vs IGCSE guide.
Keep lessons short, about 45 minutes to an hour, three or four times a week, and at one fixed table away from the television. The parks inside many pockets are a pull in the early evening, so a lesson that ends just as play time begins tends to get a child's full attention. Ask the tutor to look at the school diary each visit, so lessons follow what the class is actually doing.
This is when Maths and Science start to need steady practice. Many families take one tutor for both and add English later if the school feedback asks for it. A maths home tutor in Delhi is the most common request at this stage. Ask for a short weekly check of the notebook and the last class test, not only the textbook chapter.
Class 9 is when board preparation quietly begins. Lessons of around 90 minutes, two or three times a week, leave room both to teach a topic and to set a timed question at the end. For a CBSE Class 10 student, the tutor plans the year towards the main exam and keeps the second sitting as a fall-back. ICSE students carry more subjects, so the tutor and parent should agree early which ones get the hours.
Most families take a separate tutor for each main subject, such as Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Accountancy or Economics. If an entrance exam is in the plan, hours go up, and the travel question matters more: a tutor coming from outside the colony three times a week across Nelson Mandela Marg needs a slot that suits their route. Some families keep a physics home tutor for board work and add online classes for entrance preparation, so the student does not lose evenings to a long commute.
For CBSE and CISCE students, board exams come early in the calendar year, and CBSE's Class 10 now has a second sitting later in the spring for students who want to improve. IB Diploma exams run in May and November sessions, and Cambridge IGCSE exams in India run in March, June and November series. Take dates only from the board's own website. In Vasant Kunj, also look at the calendar: winter fog and evening traffic in exam months can make travel slower, so agree with the tutor when lessons switch to past papers, and whether some of them move online in the last weeks.
With a home tutor, your child stays put and you can watch how lessons unfold. In Vasant Kunj, that saving is bigger than in a colony with a station at the gate, because any coaching centre visit means a road journey or a ride to Vasant Vihar station first.
Online lessons take travel out of the picture for both sides. They suit monsoon evenings, exam weeks and subjects where the right specialist is far away. For IB, IGCSE or entrance subjects, online tutoring in Delhi is often the practical route from here.
A coaching centre puts the travel on the student, and from Vasant Kunj that usually means a cab, a bus or a parent driving. Late batches can end in the evening peak. Many families combine the two: a home tutor for school subjects and one centre or online class for a specialist need.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors price their own lessons, and the shortlist shows each figure ahead of the demo.
What moves a fee is the class and board, the subject, the lesson length and how many lessons a week you book. In Vasant Kunj, travel plays a part too: a tutor from the next pocket has a short ride, while one coming by metro to Vasant Vihar and then by auto, or one crossing Nelson Mandela Marg at rush hour, may ask a little more or prefer fewer, longer lessons.
To check a monthly figure, multiply the hourly fee by the lesson length and the number of lessons in the month. Agree in advance how holidays, lessons you cancel and extra pre-exam classes will be handled.
News reports in June 2026 said a public library had opened on the first floor of Vasant Square Mall in Sector B; check its timings and rules before you go. We did not find a Delhi Public Library branch in Vasant Kunj, so for most children a quiet corner at home stays the main study space.
Kishangarh, Rangpuri and Mahipalpur also sit close to Vasant Kunj; we do not have separate pages for them, but tutors from there are often the closest. The zone guide compares Vasant Kunj with the other colonies in the zone.

Vasant Kunj leads the name of the Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam zone, and this page is one of eight in it on NXTutors. Whatever your child is studying, a request brings two or three tutors chosen for the class and board, and if you would like a change later, switching costs nothing.
Tutors are listed here in a simple way. Those who live in Vasant Kunj, or include it among the places they travel to, come first. Then you will see teachers from Vasant Vihar, Munirka and the zone's other pages, followed by the rest of the city. Home tutors who live in Faridabad may come next, then online tutors, those in Delhi first and then from other states. Real tutors always appear before sample profiles.
A few details make the first class far more useful: the school books your child uses, the chapters already finished, the topics that keep going wrong and the days you prefer. For Class 10 and Class 12, mention whether your child sits the CBSE board exams, which CBSE conducts itself, or the CISCE papers. Ask each tutor how they would plan revision, and use the free demo to see whether your child warms to them.
