Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Yes. A tutor can teach your child at home in Vasant Vihar, or online if that suits the subject better. Send NXTutors the class, board and subject with your block letter (A to F) and house number, and we suggest two or three matched tutors who travel to Vasant Vihar or teach online. Every tutor's fee is on the shortlist before you book, the first lesson is a free demo, and you can change tutor later at no cost.
Vasant Vihar sits in the Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam zone of Delhi. Unlike its larger neighbour Vasant Kunj, it has its own underground Magenta Line station, and its plotted streets mean a tutor usually arrives at a house door rather than a tower lobby. The rest of this guide covers what that means for routes, entry, timing and the lessons themselves.

Vasant Vihar began with the Central Government Servants Cooperative House Building Society, formed in 1959. The government allotted land on a 99-year lease, carved out of Basant Gaon village, which it acquired in the 1960s, and the Central Public Works Department developed the colony to a master plan. Plots were large by Delhi standards, mostly between 400 and 2,000 square yards, and members built bungalows on them. Shantiniketan, next door, was developed the same way.
The original plan created six blocks, A to F, each with its own local market, and spread parks across the blocks. Four main streets, Munirka Marg, Vasant Marg, Poorvi Marg and Paschimi Marg, wrap around much of the colony in a rough triangle. The colony also houses more than fifty foreign diplomatic missions, so embassy buildings sit on the same streets as family homes.
Today, property portals list mostly builder floors, independent houses and bungalows, with apartments a small share. Many old bungalows have been rebuilt as floors, so one plot may hold several households, each on its own storey.
In a house or builder floor, there is no lobby or tower to find. The tutor reaches the gate, rings a bell and is let in, often by a family member or house staff. That makes it important to say which floor you live on and which bell or entrance belongs to it. Larger homes usually have a room that can be kept as the study space; on a shared plot with a common staircase, choose a room away from the street side if traffic noise is an issue. If house staff will open the door, tell them the tutor's name and lesson days so the first visit does not stall at the gate.
Resident reviews of Vasant Vihar on property portals give a fairly steady picture. Each point below has a simple tuition meaning.
The larger questions are the usual ones: will the tutor be steady over a whole school year, do they know the board, and does a senior or international subject need a specialist who may be far away? The rest of this page takes those one by one.
Vasant Vihar station is on the Magenta Line, the orbital route that runs from the Janakpuri side through Palam and the airport's Terminal 1 to Hauz Khas and on to Botanical Garden. It is underground, opened on 29 May 2018 and has four gates; Gates 2 and 4 are wheelchair accessible. The station lists CGHS Colony, F Block, Priya Park, Munirka Marg and Vasant Lok Market among the places nearby, and DTC buses stop at the Vasant Vihar F Block bus stop. If you live in F Block or near Priya Park, the walk from the station can be short; from the far blocks, a tutor may take an auto.
One useful quirk: the station on the western side, Shankar Vihar, is inside Delhi Cantonment and is the one stop on the network where the military restricts civilian movement. In practice, a tutor coming from the Palam or Janakpuri side simply rides through it. Eastwards, the next stops are Munirka, R K Puram, IIT and Hauz Khas, where the Magenta Line meets the Yellow Line. That puts a large part of South and West Delhi within one or two trains of your door.
By road, Munirka Marg, Vasant Marg, Poorvi Marg and Paschimi Marg take traffic around the colony, with the Outer Ring Road and NH 48 for the airport and central Delhi. The busiest points named in reviews are Basant Lok and Munirka Marg. We do not give travel minutes, since they change so much with the hour. Ask each tutor which station gate or road they will use and when they plan to set out.
The shortest trips come from next door: R K Puram, Munirka, Shanti Niketan, Anand Niketan and Basant Gaon. Tutors from further away usually come by metro.
Most Vasant Vihar homes are reached straight from the street, though block gates and private security are common, and many households have staff who answer the door. Before the demo, tell whoever opens the gate the tutor's name and arrival time. Send the tutor the block letter, house number, floor and a map pin, and mention a nearby landmark such as the block market, Priya Park or the Basant Lok community centre.
If a tutor drives, ask them to message you on arrival rather than circle the block; reviews say parking near the markets and older buildings is limited, so agree in advance where the car or scooter can wait.
On a rebuilt plot with several floors, decide where the lesson will happen and keep the route to it simple: one entrance, one staircase, one room. For younger children, keep the door to the study room open and an adult at home throughout.
If you would rather your child be taught by a woman, ask for a female home tutor in Delhi when you send the request; we shortlist one where available for your class, subject and timing. Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check: a one-time code confirms their phone or email, and our team reviews the government photo ID they upload. That checks identity; it is not a police or background check. See how we check tutor IDs, and judge the teaching yourself at the free demo.
CBSE leads the requests from Vasant Vihar, as across Delhi, and ICSE and ISC come up too. Some families ask about IB and Cambridge IGCSE as well. For a home tutor, the board decides how far the search goes. A CBSE Maths or Science tutor can usually be found among those who already teach in R K Puram, Munirka or the colony itself. An IB Diploma or IGCSE subject tutor is a narrower pool, and the right person may be on the far side of the city; the Magenta Line helps, but online lessons often fill the gap. See our IB tutors in Delhi page if that is your case.
For CBSE Class 10, there are now two board exam sittings a year, the second for improvement. To compare the boards themselves, read the board comparison guide.
Young children learn well in short, regular sessions: about 45 minutes, a few times a week, in the same room each time. In a plotted home with a garden or nearby park, a brief outdoor reading or counting game can be part of the lesson, if the tutor and parent agree. Keep the school diary on the table so the tutor sees the week's work.
Here Maths, Science and English start to need steady practice rather than occasional help. One tutor for two subjects is common. For students on the IGCSE route, the tutor should look at the school's chosen syllabus early, because lower secondary is where those habits start. For writing and comprehension, an English tutor at home can work on the school's own reading list.
Board preparation starts in Class 9. Lessons of 75 to 90 minutes, two or three times a week, give time to teach and to practise a timed answer. For CBSE, the tutor plans the year around the main Class 10 exam. ICSE adds more subjects and set texts, and some IGCSE syllabuses include coursework or practical components, so the tutor should check the syllabus the school follows from the start.
This is usually one tutor per subject. IB Diploma students need a tutor who knows the subject guide and the internal assessment; ISC and CBSE students need one who knows the board's marking. With a station in the colony, a tutor for Physics or Chemistry can come by metro from further away than in many parts of South Delhi, which widens the choice for senior subjects.
Board timings differ more in Vasant Vihar than in many colonies, because the board mix is wider. CBSE and CISCE exams fall early in the calendar year, with CBSE Class 10's second sitting later in spring. IB Diploma exams sit in May and November sessions, and Cambridge IGCSE in March, June and November series in India. Take every date from the board's own website, and agree with the tutor when lessons switch from teaching to past papers.
Home tuition keeps your child at their own desk and lets you see the lessons. In Vasant Vihar, a tutor who rides the Magenta Line can reach you fairly easily, so home lessons are realistic even for some specialist subjects.
Online lessons make most sense for international-programme subjects where the right specialist lives far away, in exam weeks, and on rainy evenings when the roads near Basant Lok are slow. IGCSE tutoring online or at home is one example where families often mix the two.
A coaching centre puts the travel on the student. With a metro station in the colony, that is manageable for older students, but a late batch plus a walk home from the station is worth thinking about in winter. Many families keep a home tutor for school subjects and add one centre or online class only where it is needed.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Fees are set by the tutors themselves, and the shortlist shows them before you book the demo.
In Vasant Vihar, the board mix matters to the fee: IB and IGCSE subjects, and senior classes, sit toward the upper end of that range. Lesson length, lessons a week and the tutor's travel also play a part. A tutor from R K Puram or Munirka has a short trip; one coming by metro from the far side of the city may prefer fewer, longer lessons.
Work out a monthly figure by multiplying the hourly fee by lesson length and lessons in the month, and settle how holidays, cancellations and extra pre-exam lessons are handled before regular classes begin.
We did not find a public library or community reading room in Vasant Vihar itself. The nearest one we found is a public library in Vasant Square Mall, Vasant Kunj; check its timings before you go. The parks spread across the blocks are good for a short break between study sessions, but for most children the main study space remains a quiet room at home.
Shanti Niketan, Anand Niketan and Basant Gaon sit right beside Vasant Vihar; we do not have separate pages for them, but tutors who travel there usually cover Vasant Vihar too.
Each link opens the Delhi page for that board, subject or class. Tell us you are in Vasant Vihar and we look for tutors who can reach you, or teach online.

Picture the first lesson before you book it. Where will your child sit, which book will be open, and what would a good hour look like? Thinking this through helps you tell us what you need from a Vasant Vihar tutor: the class, the board, the subject and the days that suit. We then suggest two or three tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
Vasant Vihar is part of the Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam zone, together with R K Puram, Munirka, Vasant Kunj and other pages. If no one is listed for Vasant Vihar itself yet, the page turns to teachers from those zone pages, then to others in Delhi, then to home tutors in Noida or Greater Noida, and online tutors after them. Each card states its reason, with real people ahead of sample profiles.
For a specialist subject in Class 11 or Class 12, an online tutor can work well beside a home tutor who covers everything else. If your child follows the CISCE syllabus, which leads to the ICSE and ISC examinations, mention it at the start. Each tutor's fee is shown before the demo.
