What home tuition costs in Delhi

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Palam gives its name to the Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar and Palam zone of Delhi. This is an old village that grew into a crowded residential and market area between the Cantonment, Dwarka and Janakpuri, with a Magenta Line station in Palam Colony and a railway station of its own. Below: the route in, the lanes, the temple and market days, and what each class needs.

What Palam is like: a village core and the colonies around it

Palam is a settlement with a long recorded history in south-west Delhi. Local tradition makes it the main seat of the Solanki Rajputs and the head village of the Palam Barah, a group of twelve villages, and the Ain-i-Akbari lists Palam as a pargana of the Delhi sarkar.

That history is still visible. The Dada Dev Mandir honours the gram devta of twelve villages: Palam, Shahbad, Bagdola, Nasirpur, Bindapur, Dabri, Asalatpur, Untkala, Matiala, Baprola, Poothkala and Nangal Raya. The Chhatri is a memorial, and the Palam mosque carries an inscription dated 935 AH (1528–29).

Around the village core the land filled in with colonies. The civic wards here are Mahavir Enclave, Mangla Puri, Palam, Raj Nagar and Sadh Nagar, and property portals add Kailash Puri, Indra Park and Vijay Enclave as parts of the wider Palam area. Homes are mostly independent houses, builder floors and small flats, from single rooms to four-bedroom floors, with a few apartment blocks such as DDA Arunodaya.

For a lesson, that means the room you have depends on the floor you live on. A family with a full floor can usually set aside a quiet room; in a smaller flat over a shop, a back room away from the street works better than the front.

Which tutor fits your child?

What Palam parents weigh before choosing a tutor

Resident reviews of Palam and Raj Nagar on property portals return to the same handful of points, each with a practical tuition angle.

  • Good links, busy streets. Reviewers rate the metro, buses and road links well, and also mention traffic jams and accident-prone stretches. A tutor who has a good route still needs a slot that avoids the worst hours on the main road.
  • Narrow roads and vendors. Raj Nagar reviews describe narrow roads often taken over by street vendors, and little parking. Ask whether the tutor will walk from the station, ride a two-wheeler or take an e-rickshaw, and tell them where a bike can stand.
  • Monsoon water. Waterlogging from weak drainage comes up in several reviews. Agree before the rains that a flooded evening becomes an online session.
  • Markets close at hand. Reviewers like having shops, eateries and medical stores nearby. The flip side is evening crowding on market streets, so a tutor coming through Ram Chowk or Palam Main Road may prefer an earlier time.
  • A family neighbourhood. Several reviews call Palam safe and good for families. Many homes open straight onto the gali, so the tutor arrives at your door, and you see who comes in.

Under all of this sit the usual worries: will the tutor be regular, will they teach to the board your child sits, and is a senior subject better online? The sections below take each in turn for Palam.

Routes into Palam for a tutor

Palam metro station, opened on 29 May 2018, is underground in Block J of Palam Colony, near Palam Police Station. It has three gates, and the passage between Gates 2 and 3 doubles as a public subway under the road. Signs point to the Mangla Puri bus terminal, the police station and Raj Nagar. On the Magenta Line, the next stop one way is Dashrathpuri, then Dabri Mor and Janakpuri West, where the Blue Line meets it; the other way is Sadar Bazar Cantonment and on towards Vasant Vihar, Munirka and Hauz Khas. A tutor living near any of those can ride in and walk or take an e-rickshaw to your lane.

Palam also has a railway station, about a kilometre and a half from the colony by portal estimates, with trains to Rewari, Delhi Cantonment and New Delhi. Nasirpur Halt is a little further. Few tutors come by train, but a tutor living along that line has a real option.

By road, the main ways in are Palam Main Road, Old Mehrauli Road, which reviewers call Raj Nagar's main road, Sagarpur–Palam Road and the roads to Dwarka. Raj Nagar is also within reach of Dwarka Sector 9 and Sector 10 metro stations on the Blue Line, which helps tutors from Dwarka.

We do not give travel minutes for Palam, because market hours and traffic change them so much. Ask each tutor which station or road they will take and when they would leave, then fix the slot around that.

Galis, doorbells and safety in Palam

Most of Palam is plotted lanes, not gated societies, so a tutor rings your bell rather than passing a guard. The hard part is finding the right door. House numbers in older lanes do not always run in order, so send the colony name, block or gali number, house number and floor, plus a landmark the tutor can ask for, such as the Dada Dev Mandir, Ram Chowk or Palam Police Station, and a map pin.

If you live in a flat block such as DDA Arunodaya, tell the tutor the block and flat number and whether the gate keeps a visitor register. For a floor above a shop, say which staircase to use, since the shop front is often the only entrance a stranger sees.

With a younger child, an adult should be home for each lesson, and the study room door should stay open. If you would like a woman tutor, include it in the request and we shortlist women tutors who travel to Palam or teach online; see our female tutors in Delhi page.

Each tutor who signs up with NXTutors is asked for a one-time code on their phone or email and a government photo ID, which our team reviews. It is an identity step and not a police or background check; this page explains it. The free demo is your chance to judge the teaching itself.

Which boards Palam families ask about

Palam families mostly ask about CBSE, with some ICSE and the occasional IB or Cambridge IGCSE family who wants an online specialist. Two things are worth saying in the request. First, the medium: if your child writes answers in Hindi, the tutor needs to know before planning notes and practice. Second, the textbook set: for CBSE that is NCERT plus the sample papers posted on cbseacademic.nic.in, and for ICSE it is the prescribed list on cisce.org.

In a floor-and-lane area like this, the home tutor often teaches siblings on different boards or classes back to back. If that is your plan, ask for a tutor who is comfortable with both. For a fuller side-by-side, read our board comparison guide.

What a Palam student needs at each stage

Nursery to Class 5

For the youngest, the tutor's job is reading, number sense and handwriting, a little at a time. Keep sessions short, and pick an hour when the lane outside is quiet; for many Palam homes that is mid-afternoon rather than the busy early evening.

Classes 6 to 8

Expect the tutor to steady Maths and Science and fill in grammar. Sharing the school timetable and the last report card in the first week lets the tutor plan a term at a time instead of chasing homework night by night.

Classes 9 and 10

The board year starts in Class 9 in practice. Ask for a written plan that maps chapters against school tests, and for one full timed paper each month in Class 10. See Class 10 home tutors in Delhi.

Classes 11 and 12

Students now take separate tutors for the main subjects, often Physics and Maths first. Our physics tuition in Delhi page covers what a Class 11 tutor should start with. If your child also travels to a coaching class, a Sunday morning home lesson, before the market streets fill, is often the easiest to keep.

Board exams and festival weeks in Palam

Board exams for CBSE and CISCE fall early in the calendar year; take the date sheets only from cbse.gov.in and cisce.org. Entrance exams such as JEE Main and NEET are announced by the National Testing Agency on nta.ac.in.

Palam has one more date to plan around. Janmashtami is a major festival at the Dada Dev Mandir, and the temple draws pilgrims year-round. If you live near the temple or Dada Chhatri Wala Marg, agree with the tutor in advance that festival days become online lessons or move to a morning slot.

Home, online or coaching for a Palam student

Home tuition works well in Palam because the metro station sits inside the colony and many tutors can reach a door in the lanes without driving. You also get to watch the first few lessons from the next room.

Online lessons make sense on monsoon evenings, on festival days near the temple, and for specialist senior subjects. The online tutors in Delhi page explains how those lessons run.

A coaching centre means your child travels, usually by metro to Janakpuri or Dwarka or further. That is fine for older students in daylight. Many Palam families split it: a home tutor for school subjects, and a centre or online class for one entrance subject.

Home tuition fees for Palam

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. You see each tutor's own fee on the shortlist before you book the demo.

No two quotes are built the same way. A Class 12 Physics hour costs more than a Class 4 hour; a board your tutor teaches every day may cost less to prepare for than one they rarely teach; and two 90-minute lessons a week add up to the same three hours as three one-hour visits, so compare total hours rather than the number of visits. Travel also counts. A tutor from Mahavir Enclave or Raj Nagar has a short walk, while one coming from across the city, or on a two-wheeler through Ram Chowk at peak hour, may set a slightly higher rate.

Ask in writing how cancelled lessons, holidays and extra exam-time sessions will be charged.

Market streets and temple days: timing a Palam lesson

Palam's market streets, Palam Main Road, Ram Chowk, Syndicate Market, Dada Chhatri Wala Marg, Old Mehrauli Road and the 60 ft road, are where the evening crowd builds. If the tutor's route crosses one of them, an hour before the shops fill or after they ease is a better weekly slot. For quiet study, property portals list small local parks such as Pakoda Park and Gokul Garden, but we found no public library or reading room in Palam, so a calm room at home remains the main study space.

About this Area

Which tutors will you see for Palam? The list starts with anyone who lives in Palam or who has said they travel there. Then come tutors living in or covering the other pages of the Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam zone, such as Dabri and Mahavir Enclave, and after them teachers from other localities in Delhi. You may then find home tutors living in Gurugram or Faridabad, and online tutors last. Sample profiles stay below real tutors, and each card tells you why it is there.

Palam gives part of its name to the zone, which has eight pages on NXTutors. When you ask for help, we reply with two or three tutors suited to your child's class and board, and every tutor's fee is visible ahead of the free demo.

Think about rhythm as much as subject. Two shorter lessons a week often help a younger child more than one long one. A Class 9 or Class 10 student may need a fixed revision day before school tests. If a specialist subject is hard to cover at home, an online tutor can take it. Tell us your preferred days at the start, so the tutors we suggest can actually keep them.

FAQs

To book a home tutor in Palam, tell NXTutors the class, board, subject and your colony, such as Raj Nagar or Palam Colony. Our reply lists two or three matched tutors and what each charges, before anything is booked. Your child's first class is a free demo, and you may swap tutors later at no charge.
Palam metro station is on the Magenta Line, underground in Block J of Palam Colony near Palam Police Station, and opened on 29 May 2018. Its neighbours are Dashrathpuri and Sadar Bazar Cantonment, and a passage between Gates 2 and 3 doubles as a road subway.
A home tutor's fee in Palam depends on the class, subject and lesson length, and each tutor sets it. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Yes, Palam families can ask NXTutors for a woman home tutor; write it in the request along with class, board and subject. We shortlist women tutors who travel to Palam or teach online, and every tutor who joins goes through an ID check, though not a police or background check.
For a Class 11 student in Palam, a home tutor usually suits board subjects, because the lessons fit around school and you can watch progress. Coaching means a metro trip to Janakpuri, Dwarka or further. Many families keep a home tutor and add one centre or online class for entrance work.
In most of Palam, no: homes open onto lanes, so the tutor comes straight to your door. Flat blocks such as DDA Arunodaya may keep a visitor register, so give the block, flat number and the tutor's name before the first visit.
Send the tutor your gali or block, house number and floor, plus a landmark such as Dada Dev Mandir, Ram Chowk or Palam Police Station. House numbers in Palam's older lanes do not always run in order, so a map pin saves time on the first visit.
Most Palam families ask for CBSE home tuition, with some ICSE and an occasional IB or IGCSE request handled online. Tell the tutor whether your child writes in Hindi or English, because that shapes the notes and practice they prepare.
If you live near the Dada Dev Mandir in Palam, plan Janmashtami as an online or morning lesson, because it is a major festival at the temple. Agree the switch with the tutor in advance so no lesson is simply lost.
Yes, NXTutors can match a Class 12 physics or maths tutor who travels to Palam or teaches online. Senior students usually take one tutor per subject, and a Sunday morning slot before the market streets fill is often the easiest to keep.
Most tutors come to Palam by the Magenta Line, but Palam railway station also has trains to Rewari, Delhi Cantonment and New Delhi. Nasirpur Halt is nearby too, so a tutor living along that rail line has a second way in.
In Palam, agree before the monsoon that a waterlogged evening becomes an online lesson, because reviews of the area mention drainage problems after heavy rain. That keeps the weekly rhythm going without asking the tutor to wade through flooded lanes.
Tutors often reach Palam from Mahavir Enclave, Raj Nagar, Sagarpur, Dabri and the Dwarka sectors nearby, or ride the Magenta Line in from Janakpuri West. We do not quote travel minutes, so ask each tutor for their route and departure time.
No. The first class with any tutor we match you with is a free demo. Each tutor sets their own fee, which you can see before that class. If the fit is wrong, you can try another suggested tutor, and switching later costs nothing, so you are never locked in after a single lesson.
Ask how the tutor plans each month, how they check that a chapter is understood, and how they will update you on progress. Check that their Palam timings will hold during exam season too. Ask how much experience they have with your child's syllabus. Then watch the free demo closely.
