What home tuition costs in Delhi

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Home tutors in Munirka: the short answer

Yes. Families in Munirka can have a tutor come home, whether that home is a DDA walk-up flat or a house in the old village, or can choose online lessons. Send NXTutors the class, board and subject, and say whether you are in the DDA flats (with the block and pocket) or the village (with a lane landmark). We reply with two or three matched tutors who travel to Munirka or teach online. Each fee is shown before you book, the first lesson is a free demo, and switching later is free.

Munirka belongs to the Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam zone of Delhi. It has its own underground Magenta Line station on the Outer Ring Road, which makes it one of the easier places in South Delhi for a tutor to reach by train. What changes from home to home is the last stretch: a staircase in a four-storey block, or a walk through village lanes.

Munirka's two halves: the village and the DDA flats

Munirka's urbanisation notification was issued in March 1954. Its old structures include the Boali Munirka, a monument from the Lodhi period. Around the old village core, property portals list privately built standalone buildings and independent houses, with a handful of apartment buildings.

The other half is the DDA Munirka flats, one of the Delhi Development Authority's early colonies. They were built in the 1970s under DDA's Self-Financing Scheme, with the lottery held in 1975. The design is plain and practical: four-storey walk-up blocks with exposed brick or plastered fronts, flat roofs and compact balconies, grouped into pockets with community parks, small markets and green spaces between them. The colony lies along the Outer Ring Road, between JNU and IIT Delhi, close to Vasant Vihar and Chanakyapuri.

Both halves sit in one PIN code, 110067, and share the same station, but for a tutor they feel very different. The DDA side is laid out in blocks with numbers; the village side is older and less regular, so a landmark (a shop, a temple or the market) is often more useful than a house number.

What a walk-up flat means for a lesson

In a four-storey walk-up, there is no lift and usually no society gate. A tutor climbs the stairs to your floor, so tell them the block, the staircase if there is more than one, and the floor. DDA flats here are compact, so the lesson usually happens at a dining table or in the one room that can be kept quiet. In a village building with several households, say which floor is yours and whether the street door is kept locked.

Which tutor fits your child?

What Munirka families think about before booking a tutor

Public writing about Munirka, from a news feature on the DDA flats' fifty years to resident notes on property portals, keeps coming back to a few points. Each one has a practical tuition meaning.

  • Metro and bus links are a strength. Portals rate bus and metro access well, with Munirka and Vasant Vihar stations both close and bus stops towards the Vasant Vihar depot. That widens the pool of tutors who can reach you without a car.
  • Parking is short. The DDA flats have a chronic shortage of parking, and portals say parking is limited in standalone buildings too. A tutor on foot from the station, or on a two-wheeler, is usually easier than one driving.
  • Ageing buildings. Writers on the DDA flats mention leaky plumbing, seepage and upkeep needs. None of this stops a lesson, but a dry, well-lit corner for the study table matters in the monsoon.
  • Security varies by building. Portals note that round-the-clock security exists only in some properties. If your building has no guard, agree that the tutor calls when they reach the door, and keep an adult at home.
  • Peak-hour traffic on the main roads. The Outer Ring Road is busy at office hours. A tutor who rides the metro is hardly affected; one who drives or rides a scooter will want a slot away from the rush.

After these come the usual questions: will the tutor keep the slot all year, do they know the board, and is the subject better taught at home or online? The sections below answer them for Munirka.

How a tutor gets to Munirka

Munirka station is on the Magenta Line, underground, at the Palam flyover. It opened on 29 May 2018 and has three gates. Gate 1 leads through a subway towards R K Puram Sector 4; the other gates come up near the Outer Ring Road and Munirka market. Gate 3 is the one described as close to the village market. Gates 1 and 3 are wheelchair accessible. Tell the tutor which gate brings them out on your side of the road, because crossing the Outer Ring Road on foot is the slow part of the trip.

The station puts Munirka within easy reach of a long stretch of the city. Eastwards, the next stops are R K Puram, IIT and Hauz Khas, where the Yellow Line meets the Magenta Line. Westwards, the train runs through Vasant Vihar, Shankar Vihar and the airport's Terminal 1 towards Palam, Dashrathpuri and Janakpuri West. A tutor who lives near any of those stations can arrive by train and walk to your block.

By road, the Outer Ring Road forms one edge of Munirka and carries heavy traffic at office hours; Baba Gang Nath Marg runs inside. DTC buses serve the Munirka bus stop. We do not give travel minutes, which change so much with the time of day. The shortest trips are from R K Puram, Vasant Vihar, Ber Sarai and the JNU side; ask each shortlisted tutor how they plan to come.

Stairs, lanes and safety in Munirka

Most Munirka homes are reached without a society gate. In the DDA flats, the tutor walks into the pocket, finds the block and climbs the stairs. Some pockets have a resident welfare association with its own rules for regular visitors, so ask your neighbours or the RWA if a guard notes names. In the village, the tutor walks in from the main road and finds your building by a landmark.

Before the demo, send the tutor a map pin, the block or building name, your floor and a landmark such as the DDA Shopping Complex, Fakkarwada Park or the village market. Ask them to call when they reach the street door, especially in a building without a guard. If the tutor rides a two-wheeler, say where it can be left during the lesson, since parking in the DDA pockets is tight.

If your child should be taught by a woman, ask for a woman tutor for home tuition in Delhi when you send the request. We shortlist one where available for the class, subject and timing. Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check: they confirm a phone number or email with a one-time code, and our team reviews the government photo ID they upload. It confirms identity and is not a police or background check. Read how the ID check works, and keep an adult at home during lessons for younger children.

Boards Munirka families ask about

In Munirka, CBSE is the board we hear about most, with ICSE and ISC next and the odd IB or IGCSE request. For a home tutor, the board shapes the lesson more than the trip: because so many tutors can reach Munirka by metro, even a less common board does not have to mean online lessons, though it may mean a longer ride for the tutor. A CBSE home tutor in Delhi should work from the NCERT books and the board's own sample papers.

For CBSE Class 10, the board now runs two exams a year, the second for improvement. For a side-by-side look at the boards, see our guide to choosing a board.

What a Munirka home lesson looks like, by class

Nursery to Class 5

Short lessons work at this age: 45 minutes to an hour, three or four days a week. In a compact flat, clear one end of the table and keep the school bag, diary and pencils there so each lesson starts without a hunt. The pocket parks are a natural reward once the lesson is done.

Classes 6 to 8

These are the years to build Maths and Science foundations before board classes. One tutor for both is common, with Hindi, Sanskrit or English added if the school report points that way. A science tutor at home can use the school's own textbook and notebook, and check the last test paper every week.

Classes 9 and 10

Class 9 starts the board run. Two or three lessons a week of around 90 minutes give time to teach, practise and then try a timed question. For CBSE, the tutor builds towards the main Class 10 exam. In a small flat, protect the lesson time from television and visitors; it matters more at this stage than any study plan.

Classes 11 and 12

Most students take one tutor per subject. Munirka's station is a real advantage here, because a subject specialist from the Hauz Khas or Janakpuri side can come by train without a car. Where an entrance exam is in the plan, some families keep a home tutor for board subjects and add an online teacher for entrance work. See our Class 12 home tuition page for more.

Exam season in Munirka

CBSE and CISCE board exams fall early in the calendar year, and CBSE Class 10 has a second sitting later in the spring for students who want to improve a score. If your child is on IB or IGCSE, those boards run their own sessions. Take the dates only from the boards' own websites. In Munirka, the metro keeps exam-month lessons running even when the roads are slow, but agree with the tutor when lessons move to past papers and whether any extra sessions are needed.

Home tutor, online class or coaching centre from Munirka

A home tutor saves your child the journey and lets you watch the lessons. With a station on the doorstep, Munirka is one of the easier places for tutors to reach, so home lessons are realistic for most subjects.

Online lessons are worth it when the right specialist lives far away, during exam weeks, or when space in a small flat makes a visitor awkward on some evenings. Online tutoring also avoids the stairs and the parking question altogether.

A coaching centre puts the travel on your child, and the Magenta Line makes that easier from Munirka than from many colonies. The trade-offs are long days, late batches, and crossing the Outer Ring Road on foot after dark. Many families keep a home tutor for school subjects and choose one centre or online class for a specialist need.

What home tuition costs in Munirka

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. The fee is the tutor's own, and you can compare all of them on the shortlist before the demo.

The class, board and subject move a fee most, along with how long each lesson runs and how many you book each week. Travel matters less in Munirka than in colonies without a station, because a tutor can arrive by metro. A tutor coming from across the city may still prefer longer, less frequent lessons to make the trip worthwhile.

For a monthly estimate, multiply the hourly fee by the lesson length and the number of lessons. Settle how holidays, cancellations and extra pre-exam classes are counted before regular lessons begin.

Quiet places to study near Munirka

We did not find a public library or community reading room in Munirka. Fakkarwada Park and Munirka Pahadi Wala Park are good for a short break between study blocks, and the pocket parks in the DDA flats do the same job. Day to day, a settled desk at home does most of the work.

Areas near Munirka

  • R K Puram: directly north, reached through the subway from Munirka station's Gate 1, with its own station one stop east.
  • Vasant Vihar: to the north-west, one stop west on the Magenta Line, a planned colony of houses and floors in six blocks.
  • Vasant Kunj: to the south-west past JNU, a large colony without a station whose tutors often pass through this side.

  • Safdarjung Enclave: to the north-east across the Outer Ring Road, plotted floors and houses.

About this Area

Munirka has a page of its own on NXTutors, inside the Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam zone. Families can ask for a tutor in any subject; the reply is a shortlist of two or three tutors, and if you change your mind later, switching to someone else is free.

Before you send a request, sit down for a moment with your child's school bag. Which chapters are finished? Which test went badly, and why? Does your child prefer working in the morning or the evening? Those answers, along with the class and board, help us choose tutors who can start on the right page. If your home has a visitor register at the gate, adding the tutor's name once can make later visits smoother.

Tutors who live in Munirka, or who name it as somewhere they will go, are shown first here. Then come teachers from R K Puram, Vasant Vihar and the remaining zone pages, then Delhi more widely. Home tutors from Noida or Gurugram can follow, and online tutors come at the end. Real tutors are always shown ahead of sample profiles. A senior student might also take one subject online and the rest at home.

FAQs

To book a home tutor in Munirka, send NXTutors the class, board and subject, and we suggest two or three matched tutors. Say whether you live in the DDA flats or the village. You see each fee before the first class, the first class is a free demo, and you can switch tutor later for free.
At Munirka station, Gate 1 leads through a subway towards R K Puram Sector 4, while the other gates come out near the Outer Ring Road and Munirka market. Gate 3 is described as close to the village market. Tell the tutor which gate puts them on your side of the road.
In Munirka, each tutor names their own fee for home tuition, and the shortlist lists it ahead of the free demo. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Lesson length and lessons per week move the monthly total.
Yes, a Munirka family can ask for a woman tutor at home; mention it with the class, board and subject. We shortlist one where available for your timing. Tutors who join go through an ID check, which confirms identity and is not a police or background check.
For a home tutor coming to the Munirka DDA flats, give the pocket, block, staircase and floor, since these are four-storey walk-ups without lifts. Add a landmark such as the DDA Shopping Complex or a pocket park, and say where a two-wheeler can be left, because parking is short.
It can be, because in Munirka village a landmark often helps a first-time visitor more than a house number. Send a map pin and a nearby point, such as the village market, and ask the tutor to call from the main road on the first visit. After one trip, most tutors know the way.
For a Class 10 student in Munirka, home tuition usually suits school subjects because the lesson comes to the desk and you can follow it. The metro makes a centre reachable, but late batches mean crossing the Outer Ring Road after dark. Many families pair home lessons with one online or centre class.
Yes, a tutor from Janakpuri or Hauz Khas can reach Munirka on the Magenta Line without changing trains. Hauz Khas is three stops east, and the line runs west through Vasant Vihar and the airport's Terminal 1 towards Palam and Janakpuri West. The last part is a walk from the right gate.
Home tutors who come to Munirka mostly teach CBSE, Delhi's main board, with ICSE and ISC next and the odd IB or IGCSE student. Because so many tutors can reach Munirka by metro, a less common board can still be taught at home. Mention the board and the school's textbooks in your request.
Schedule home tuition in Munirka away from Outer Ring Road peak hours if the tutor drives or rides a scooter. A tutor who comes by metro is far less affected, so most after-school slots work. Weekend mornings are another steady choice for senior students.
A maths tutor coming home to Munirka suits most school classes, since a child working at their own table is easy to guide. Online maths lessons make sense for senior or entrance-level work when the right teacher lives far away. Some families start at home and add online classes near exams.
Yes, home tuition works well in a small Munirka DDA flat if one table can be kept clear and quiet for the lesson. Choose a slot when the household is calmer, keep the television off and set the books out before the tutor arrives. Online lessons help on evenings when space is tight.
We did not find a public library or community reading room in Munirka during our research. Students usually study at home and use Fakkarwada Park, Munirka Pahadi Wala Park or the DDA pocket parks for short breaks. A quiet, dry corner at home is worth setting up early.
Quite possibly. R K Puram and Munirka both belong to the Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar & Palam zone, and someone teaching in the first may also travel to the second. Ask about their available days in Munirka and how they would plan the first month, then watch them teach in a free demo.
Yes. CBSE conducts its Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, while CISCE conducts the ICSE and ISC. When you ask, mention which syllabus your child follows and the class, and we will suggest tutors who know that syllabus, for home lessons in Munirka or online if that works better.
NXTutors switches you for free. Changing tutor later costs nothing, and you started with a shortlist of two or three matched tutors, each with a free demo, so you may already know who to try next.
