Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Jangpura belongs to our Lodhi Colony, Jangpura and Nizamuddin zone of Delhi. It flanks Mathura Road, it has an underground Violet Line station of its own, and its homes are mostly builder floors on old plots. This guide is about how those three facts play out for a weekly tutor.

Jangpura's story starts in the early 1900s, when villagers were moved here from the area of today's Raisina Hills and from villages near Lodhi Gardens to make way for the new capital. The settlement was named Youngpura after the Deputy Commissioner who laid it out, and the name later became Jangpura. In 1950 and 1951, Sikh and Hindu families arriving from Punjab after Partition settled here,. In the 1970s, so many artists moved into the Extension that it was known as an artists' colony.
The neighbourhood today is several localities under one name: Jangpura A and B, Jangpura Extension, Bhogal and Pant Nagar. Bhogal is the market hub among them, with its market and bus terminal, and its older Punjabi eateries now share the street with Afghan bakeries. Jangpura Extension is the more residential side, with small neighbourhood parks such as Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park and Hakikat Rai Park.
Most homes are builder floors. Square Yards puts builder floors at about two-thirds of the residential stock, with 3 BHK units the most common. That matters for tuition in two ways. First, many families have a spare room or a corner that can be set aside for study. Second, a floor in a builder building usually has its own staircase or a small lift, and the tutor rings your bell directly, so the first visit depends on a clear house number and floor rather than a gate pass.
Rents here are lower than in much of central Delhi, and the area attracts tenants as well as long-time owners. Families who rent may stay a few years and then move, so when you pick a tutor, ask whether they can continue online or travel to a nearby colony if you shift.
Square Yards' locality summary and older resident writing about Jangpura return to a handful of points. Here is what each means for a tutor's week.
Behind these sit the usual questions: will the slot stay fixed, does the tutor know my child's board, and is a senior subject better at home or online? The rest of this page takes those one at a time for Jangpura.
Jangpura station opened on 3 October 2010 with the first section of the Violet Line. It is underground and sits on Shri Kuldeep Singh Gujral Marg; its entrance is beside Silver Oak Park, next to the Pant Nagar bus stop on the east side of Tito Marg. The station before it, coming from central Delhi, is Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, and the next one south is Lajpat Nagar.
Lajpat Nagar is the interchange between the Violet Line and the Pink Line, which reached it in August 2018. A tutor who lives along the Pink Line can change there and ride one stop to Jangpura. That widens the pool of tutors for Jangpura families well beyond the next colony.
DTC buses from the Pant Nagar stop run towards Palam, Greater Kailash, AIIMS, Safdarjung, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the Delhi main railway station, among others, and Bhogal has its own bus terminal. Lajpat Nagar station on the Ring Railway also serves the area, and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station is close by.
Mathura Road runs along Jangpura, and the Barapullah elevated road links Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium with Sarai Kale Khan. A tutor driving in from East Delhi may use either. Lajpat Nagar lies just across the railway line, so tutors from there often have the shortest ride of all.
We do not give travel times, because the same trip can take very different lengths of time at different hours. Ask each tutor where they start and whether they plan to come by metro, bus or scooter.
In a builder floor, nobody stands between the tutor and your bell, so the address does all the work. Send the block letter, house number, floor and a map pin. If your building has more than one doorway or a shared staircase with other floors, say which one to use.
If the tutor comes by two-wheeler, tell them where it can stand without blocking a neighbour's car. A brief word with neighbours, if parking is shared, avoids friction later. Tutors who come by metro need only the walking route from the station exit.
Keep the lesson in a room with the door open and an adult at home, especially for younger children. Sit in on part of the free demo.
Some families prefer a woman tutor; just say so when you send the request, and NXTutors will look for a female tutor for home lessons in Delhi who fits your class and timing. Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check, confirming their phone or email with a one-time code and uploading a government photo ID for our team to review. That check confirms identity; it is not a police or background check. See how NXTutors checks tutor ID.
Requests from Jangpura are mostly for CBSE, with a share for ICSE and ISC and a few for IB or Cambridge IGCSE. In a builder floor with a spare room, a home tutor can set up a proper study corner, which suits the heavier written work of ICSE English or ISC science practical files as much as CBSE problem practice.
Some families here speak Punjabi or Hindi at home and study in English at school. If your child is more comfortable explaining in Hindi, mention it in your request, and ask for a tutor who explains in Hindi while making sure answers are written in the language of the exam.
Our guide CBSE, ICSE, IB or IGCSE: which board explains the differences. For ICSE-specific help, see ICSE home tutors in Delhi.
Young Jangpura children usually manage 45 minutes to an hour at a time, three or four days a week. In a 3 BHK floor, a small table in a quieter room works better than the living room, where visitors and the television compete. Keep the school diary on that table so the tutor sees each week's work.
Here Maths, Science and English start to need more than help with homework. One tutor for Maths and Science is a common start, with English or Hindi added later. Ask for a short note each week on what was covered and what your child should practise alone.
Lessons of about 90 minutes, two or three times a week, allow time to teach and to set timed questions. A CBSE student's tutor ought to lean on the NCERT books and the sample papers CBSE publishes. A Class 10 home tutor in Delhi can also help plan the year around school tests and pre-boards.
By this stage, each main subject usually gets its own tutor. With the Violet and Pink Lines meeting one stop away, a senior student here can reach a coaching class by metro and still keep a home tutor for board subjects. For science, our physics tutors for Delhi students page covers what to look for.
Board exams for most Jangpura students fall in the early months of the year, with ICSE and ISC schedules on cisce.org, IB Diploma exams in May and November, and Cambridge series in March, June and November. Take dates only from the board's own site. In the weeks before, ask the tutor to shift from teaching to timed papers. Because power cuts are mentioned locally, keep printed past papers rather than relying only on a screen during the final weeks.
A home tutor saves your child a trip and lets you hear the lessons from the next room. With its own metro station and bus stop, Jangpura is easy for tutors who do not drive, which widens your choice.
Online lessons are worth considering for rainy evenings, exam weeks and specialist subjects. If an outage cuts the Wi-Fi, a phone hotspot usually keeps the class going. See online tuition for Delhi students.
A coaching centre suits a student who wants an entrance-exam batch, and the Lajpat Nagar interchange puts many centres within a short metro ride. The cost is travel time and late returns. Many families keep a home tutor for school subjects alongside a centre or online class for one specific exam.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Tutors set their own fees, and NXTutors shows each one on your shortlist before the demo. The class and board matter most, then the subject, the number of sessions a week and their length. A tutor who rides across the city may price in the journey, while one from Lajpat Nagar or a nearby colony may not need to. A home-and-online mix, for example two home lessons and one online, can also change the monthly total.
No fee applies to the demo class, and no fee applies if you later change to another tutor.
We could not find a public library inside Jangpura in a reliable source. The nearest one we can point to is the NDMC library near Veer Savarkar Park in Lodhi Colony, reopened in February 2024 with reading space on two floors. For most Jangpura students, a fixed study corner at home will matter more than a library.

For a Jangpura student working through ISC Biology or preparing for NEET, the right tutor is someone who knows both the syllabus and the pace your child needs. NXTutors keeps the first step easy. You tell us the class, board and subject, and we pick out two or three suitable people, each with their fee shown on the profile.
On NXTutors, Jangpura belongs to a small zone of four pages, Lodhi Colony, Jangpura & Nizamuddin, along with Lodhi Colony, Nizamuddin East and Nizamuddin West. A tutor who lives in Jangpura or has listed it as a place they teach comes first here. After that you may see tutors from those three pages, then from other corners of Delhi, then home tutors living in Gurugram or Faridabad, with online teachers closing the list.
A few questions to ask before you book: how will the tutor plan the term around school tests, how do they check understanding, and how will they keep you informed? For CISCE students, it helps to know that CISCE is the council behind both the ICSE and ISC examinations. Your first session is free, so there is room to try.
