Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Yes. A tutor can come to your Lodhi Colony flat, or teach your child online if that suits the week better. Send NXTutors the class, board and subject, along with your block and flat number, and we come back with two or three matched tutors who travel to Lodhi Colony or teach online. Every tutor's fee is visible before you book, the first class is a free demo, and if the match stops working later, switching tutor costs nothing.
Lodhi Colony sits in our Lodhi Colony, Jangpura and Nizamuddin zone of Delhi. It is a 1940s colony of central government housing run by the New Delhi Municipal Council, with Lodhi Road and Lodhi Gardens along one side and four shopping markets inside it. That mix of government flats, office-lined roads and two nearby metro lines shapes how tuition works here.

Lodhi Colony was built in the 1940s to house government employees, and it was among the last residential areas created before Independence. Wikipedia describes it as a residential colony for central government officers and staff, while senior officials were given bungalows in the neighbouring Lodhi Estate. The New Delhi Municipal Council looks after it, not the MCD, which is worth knowing if you ever need to report a streetlight or a broken pavement on a tutor's walking route.
Because the homes are government quarters rather than private flats, the household pattern differs from most of South Delhi. Accommodation comes with the job, so a posting, a promotion to a different type of quarter or a retirement can mean a move. If that could happen during the school year, it is sensible to pick a tutor who is also comfortable teaching online, so lessons carry on without a break if you shift across the city or out of it.
Lodhi Road, along the colony's edge, is an institutional road. The India International Centre, the India Habitat Centre and the India Meteorological Department sit along it, together with several international agencies and offices. Many parents here work in or near this belt, and their hours, not the school bell, often decide when an adult can be home for a lesson.
Since 2015 and 2016, the colony has also been known for the Lodhi Art District, an initiative of the St+art India Foundation that put large murals on the walls of the housing blocks. The murals make the colony easy to recognise, but a tutor still needs a precise address: block, entrance and floor.
Daily needs are close at hand. Wikipedia lists four main shopping markets for the colony, among them the Main Market and Jor Bagh Market. A tutor arriving early can wait in one of them rather than at your door.
Public descriptions of Lodhi Colony on property portals are short, but a few themes stand out. Each has a practical meaning for tuition.
We found no recent Reddit or forum threads about tuition in Lodhi Colony, so this list is deliberately brief. Beyond it, parents ask what every family asks: will the slot stay fixed, does the tutor know the board's marking, and should a senior subject be taught at home or online? The sections below answer those for this colony.
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium station opened on 3 October 2010 with the first section of the Violet Line. Its address is Pragati Vihar, 110003, the same PIN as the colony. The stop before it, coming from central Delhi, is Khan Market; the stop after it, heading south, is Jangpura. A tutor who lives along the Violet Line, from the Central Secretariat end down through Lajpat Nagar and beyond, can ride straight here.
Jor Bagh station, opened on 3 September 2010, lies under Sri Aurobindo Marg near its crossing with Lodhi Road, between Lok Kalyan Marg and Dilli Haat–INA. For the western side of the colony, nearer Jor Bagh Market, this is often the handier stop. It brings tutors who live along the Yellow Line within one ride, without changing trains.
Lajpat Nagar is an interchange between the Violet Line and the Pink Line, which reached it in August 2018. A tutor coming from the Pink Line can change there and ride two stops north, through Jangpura, to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Lodhi Road runs between Humayun's Tomb at its eastern end and Safdarjung's Tomb at its western end. The Barapullah elevated road, built for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, links Sarai Kale Khan with Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and was planned as a permanent route from East Delhi towards central and South Delhi. A tutor driving in from across the Yamuna is likely to use it.
We do not quote travel minutes, because they swing so much with the hour and with any security closure. Ask each tutor where they start, which line or road they will use, and how they plan the walk from the station to your block.
Lodhi Colony has no single society gate to clear, so most of the planning is about the address itself. Before the demo, send the tutor your block, the entrance or staircase they should use, the floor and the flat number, along with a map pin. If a nearby road is closed for an official movement, a pin lets the tutor reroute on foot without calling you.
If the tutor rides a two-wheeler or drives, tell them where visitors normally park near your block. A spot you have already checked saves the first minutes of every lesson.
Most lessons happen at home, at a desk or the dining table. Keep the door open and an adult at home, especially for younger children, and stay for part of the demo to see how the tutor explains.
If your family would prefer a woman tutor, mention it in your request. NXTutors will try to shortlist a woman home tutor in Delhi for your class, subject and timing where one is available. Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check: a one-time code checks their phone number or email, and they add a government photo ID that our team then looks over. It confirms identity and is not a police or background check. Read how we check tutor IDs, and judge the teaching for yourself at the free demo.
Most requests from Lodhi Colony are for CBSE, with some for ICSE and ISC and occasional requests for IB or Cambridge IGCSE. For families in government service, CBSE's appeal is partly practical: it is a national board, so a child who moves city on a parent's posting usually keeps the same syllabus and NCERT books. A tutor who works from the board's own sample papers on cbseacademic.nic.in fits that well.
For ICSE and ISC, CISCE sets the syllabus and prescribed texts, so give the tutor your child's list of set books at the first lesson. Whatever the board, a tutor in a government flat usually works at a small table, so ask for one notebook per subject and a folder for tests rather than piles of loose sheets.
For a full comparison of the four boards, read our guide CBSE vs ICSE vs IB vs IGCSE. For board-specific tutors, see CBSE home tutors in Delhi.
Short lessons of 45 minutes to an hour, three or four times a week, work well for young children. Pick one corner of the flat for study and keep the school diary there. Lodhi Gardens is close, and if your child goes there in the evening, place the lesson before the outing, when attention is fresher. Our primary tutors in Delhi page has more on this stage.
These are the years where Maths and Science gaps begin to show. Many families start with one tutor for both, and add English or Hindi later if a school report asks for it. Ask the tutor to look at the school notebook and the latest class test each week. If a posting might move you mid-year, ask the tutor to keep a short record of chapters covered so a new school or tutor can pick up quickly.
Class 9 is where board habits start. A tutor should mix teaching with timed questions from the first month, and lessons of around 90 minutes, two or three times a week, leave room for both. A home maths tutor in Delhi is the most common first request at this stage, with Science close behind.
Most families take one tutor per subject now: Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Accountancy, Economics or English. Students who also prepare for an entrance exam often keep a home tutor for board work and add a specialist online. Because both metro lines are close, a senior student who travels for classes can still fit a weekend morning lesson at home.
For most Lodhi Colony students, board exams fall early in the calendar year. From 2026, CBSE allows Class 10 students a second board exam in the same year for improvement, so a Class 10 plan should aim at the main exam and treat the second as a back-up. ICSE and ISC dates come from cisce.org, IB Diploma exams sit in May and November, and Cambridge runs March, June and November series. Take dates only from the board's own website. Settle with the tutor, a few weeks ahead, the week when lessons move to revision and past papers, and expect slightly longer sessions during it.
A home tutor saves your child the journey and lets you see the lessons. With two metro lines close by, Lodhi Colony families can choose from tutors across a long stretch of the Violet and Yellow Lines, not only the next colony.
Online lessons suit the weeks when a road is closed, an exam is near, or the right specialist lives far away. For a family that may move on a posting, online is also the easiest way to keep the same tutor afterwards. See online tutors for Delhi students.
A coaching centre puts the travel on the student. The metro makes that manageable from here, but late classes mean a walk home from the station after dark in winter. Many families combine the two: a home tutor for school subjects, plus one centre or online class for a specific exam.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Lodhi Colony families see every tutor's own fee on the shortlist before any demo is booked. What moves it is the class, the board, the subject, how many sessions a week you want, how long each one runs and how far the tutor travels. A senior science subject costs more than primary support, and a tutor who rides a long way across the city may price in that journey. A tutor who also teaches online can sometimes offer a mix of home and online sessions, which can change the total for the month.
The first class is a free demo, and if the fit is wrong later you can switch tutor at no charge, so you are never locked into a fee you have not seen.
The NDMC library near Veer Savarkar Park reopened after refurbishment in February 2024. The Tribune reported that it spreads over two floors, seats about 75 readers and holds books in Hindi, English, Punjabi and Urdu, along with folk tales for children. It is a useful place for a self-study hour between lessons.
The Habitat Library and Research Centre at the India Habitat Centre is a members' library, so it is not a walk-in option for most students. Lodhi Gardens is not a study room, but a short walk there between two long revision blocks does no harm.

If your child in Lodhi Colony follows the IB Diploma or is preparing for ISC exams, you may want a tutor who understands coursework and exam technique as well as content. With NXTutors, you can ask for exactly that. A request brings two or three tutors chosen for your child's programme and subjects.
Start by noting the details that matter: the board or programme, the subject and level, the topics completed and any internal assessment deadlines. Add the days and times that work for you, and whether you would like lessons at home, online, or a mix. For specialist subjects, an online tutor can sometimes be the most practical choice while a home tutor covers everything else.
This page is part of the Lodhi Colony, Jangpura & Nizamuddin zone. Tutors who live in Lodhi Colony or include it in their travel areas appear first. If no one fits yet, the page brings in tutors from Jangpura, Nizamuddin East and Nizamuddin West, then Delhi generally, then home tutors from the other NCR cities, and then online teachers. Every card notes why it is shown. You can see each fee before the first class, which is free, and our IB tutors page has further profiles to read.
