Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Phase 2 is a compact DDA colony squeezed between Sanjay Lake and the Delhi–Meerut Expressway. Its own Pink Line station makes it easy to reach by metro; the expressway and its service lanes are what a driving tutor has to plan around.

Phase 2 came after Phase 1, set up in 1984 between Sanjay Lake Park and what was then NH-24 and is now the Delhi–Meerut Expressway. The DDA arranged it in six lettered pockets, A to F, and Wikipedia's account of the colony says the plan was for each flat or apartment to face a park or a green belt. You see that today in the small parks between blocks, which make the colony feel quieter than its position beside a 14-lane road would suggest.
Each pocket runs its own Resident Welfare Association, and the shops are spread the same way. DDA markets sit in Pockets A, C and E, Pocket B has a Local Shopping Complex, and NoBroker's locality page mentions a Sunday market in the Pocket C area. For a tutor, this means the pocket letter is the one fact they cannot do without, and a market name is the easiest landmark to add.
Homes here are DDA-built flats in low-rise blocks, with rental and sale listings ranging from one-room units to three-bedroom flats. Lanes in the older blocks are narrow, which is why the parking question comes up so often. Because the colony is almost fully built, the look of a pocket changes slowly, so directions a tutor learns on the first visit usually stay good.
East Vinod Nagar sits on one side, Trilokpuri and Kalyanpuri lie across the lake, and Phase 1 is a short ride west. Wikipedia gives Akshardham and Anand Vihar each as roughly 3 km from Phase 2, and Laxmi Nagar about 5 km, which helps when a tutor says where they start.
NoBroker's resident reviews for Phase 2 and for Mayur Vihar as a whole raise a short list of practical points. Here is how each one affects a weekly class.
Whatever is left, two NXTutors rules help: fees are visible before the demo, and switching tutor later is free.
East Vinod Nagar - Mayur Vihar-II is Phase 2's own station. It opened on the Pink Line on 31 October 2018 and is listed at Phase II, Block E, in the Vinod Nagar area; NoBroker puts it about 850 metres from the Pocket D side. Trilokpuri - Sanjay Lake, the next stop towards Mayur Vihar-I, is listed at Chand Cinema Road, Mayur Vihar Phase II, and suits pockets closer to the lake.
For a few years the Pink Line was split near here: the stretch between the old Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 station and Trilokpuri - Sanjay Lake was only joined on 6 August 2021. Older advice that you need to change trains or take a bus to get through no longer applies. A tutor on the Blue Line changes at Mayur Vihar-I and rides three Pink Line stops; one coming from Anand Vihar or IP Extension rides the Pink Line the other way.
The Delhi–Meerut Expressway runs along the colony's NH-9 side. Its first phase, a 14-lane stretch from Nizamuddin Bridge to the UP border, opened on 27 May 2018. The Noida Link Road, Ram Kumar Gautam Marg and Vasundhara Road are the other roads in. For tutors who use buses, DTC routes such as 307A, 348, 349 and 611A stop at the Mayur Vihar Phase 2 bus stop.
Journey times here depend on the hour and the expressway, so we leave them out. Ask each tutor where they start and whether they would come by metro, bus or road.
Phase 2 homes are reached through pockets rather than through large society lobbies. Some pocket entrances have a guard, and each pocket's RWA sets its own visitor routine, so ask yours what it expects for a regular weekly visitor. Before the demo, send the tutor the pocket letter, block, floor and flat number, and the market or temple nearest to you; Neelam Mata Temple and the local private hospital are landmarks most people in the colony know.
Please have an adult in the flat for the demo and the early weeks. Each tutor who joins NXTutors goes through an ID check before a badge shows on the profile; it is an identity check, not a police check, and this page explains the steps. If you prefer a woman tutor, say so with your request and the shortlist will include only women.
Most Phase 2 requests are for CBSE, then ICSE and ISC, with a smaller number for IB or Cambridge IGCSE. For CBSE Class 10, the board's scheme gives students two board examinations in the same year from 2026, the second being optional for improvement, so a tutor's plan should make the first attempt count and keep the second as a safety net (more on CBSE home tutors in Delhi).
Phase 2 flats are compact, so a quiet corner and a fixed slot matter more than the board itself. For a fuller comparison of the four boards, read our board comparison guide.
With parks between the blocks, younger children often go out to play in the early evening. A tutor who comes straight after school, before play time, usually gets a fresher child. Short lessons on most weekdays beat one long weekend session at this age.
Middle school is the time to build habits: a homework diary, a weekly test and a tutor who checks the school copy, not just the textbook. English writing and maths word problems are the gaps that tend to grow if nobody looks. Our English home tutor in Delhi page covers grammar and writing support.
In Class 9 the syllabus jumps, especially in science. Use the year to settle concepts, and save past-paper drill for Class 10. With CBSE's two Class 10 exams, ask the tutor how they will pace revision for the first attempt and what changes if your child sits the second. See Class 10 home tutors for what we look for in a Class 10 match.
Stream choice decides the tutor. Science students often need separate physics and chemistry support, commerce students accountancy and economics, humanities students essay practice. If no specialist lives close, a Pink Line tutor from the IP Extension or Anand Vihar side is one option and online is another.
For JEE or NEET, keep school and entrance work in one weekly plan so the board syllabus does not slip. NTA's site, nta.ac.in, is the only place to take exam details from. Our NEET home tutor page explains how we match for biology and chemistry.
In the run-up to board exams, the aim is a slot that never slips. If your tutor drives along the expressway, move the class earlier for those weeks or make one session a week online. Exam dates should come only from cbse.gov.in (CBSE) or cisce.org (ICSE and ISC). Share the date sheet with your tutor as soon as it comes out, and ask for a revision calendar that works back from the first paper.
A home tutor works well in Phase 2 because the colony is quiet in the afternoons and most tutors can reach it by metro. You see what is being taught, and your child does not travel.
Online classes suit specialist subjects, senior students who are comfortable on a screen, and rainy evenings. They also remove the expressway from the equation entirely.
Coaching centres give a fixed timetable and a group to compete with, but a child travelling at peak hour loses time and energy. A common pattern is coaching for entrance preparation plus a home tutor for one school subject that needs closer attention.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. You see each tutor's fee on the shortlist before the demo, so there is nothing to negotiate at the door.
What changes a fee is the class and board, the subject, how long each class runs and how many classes a week you book. A board-year student usually needs longer sessions, and a specialist for one senior subject may charge more than a tutor covering several junior subjects. Ask what is included, such as test papers or a monthly progress note, and remember that changing tutor through NXTutors is free.
We found no public library branch in Phase 2 that we could source, so we are not naming one. Sanjay Lake Park is the obvious break between study blocks: a lake of about 17 hectares inside a larger forest area, with a fitness track and a big field. Migratory birds visit in winter, which makes a short walk there a good reset before the next chapter.

Is your child following IGCSE or the IB in Mayur Vihar Phase 2? If so, tell us which one it is, and NXTutors can suggest tutors who have taught that programme. Send the programme, subject and year, and we will reply with two or three tutors.
Mayur Vihar Phase 2 sits in the Mayur Vihar, Patparganj & IP Extension zone, a set of nine pages that includes Phase 1, Phase 3 and Mandawali. Tutors living in Phase 2 or willing to travel there are shown first. Next you will see tutors from the rest of the zone, then from elsewhere in Delhi, then home tutors whose address is in Gurugram, and online teachers last.
For international programmes, ask a prospective tutor how long they have taught that programme and how they use past papers. It also helps to share the term dates and when mock exams fall, so the tutor can plan revision around them. If no home tutor fits a specialist subject, part of the week can move online. You will see each tutor's fee before the first class, which is free. More choices are on our IGCSE tutors page.
