Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Home tutors do come to IP Extension, and the society layout makes regular visits easy to set up. You tell NXTutors your child's class, board and subject plus the name of your apartment society; we reply with two or three tutors who travel to this part of Patparganj. Every fee is visible on that shortlist, lesson one is a free trial (the demo), and a later change of tutor is not charged.
The IP Extension station on the Pink Line is the usual way in, with Preet Vihar on the Blue Line as a second choice. If an evening slot is hard to fill, an online tutor matched the same way can cover the gap.

IP Extension is short for Indraprastha Extension. It took shape on land the Delhi Master Plan had first earmarked for industry; about 175 acres of Patparganj were later allotted to cooperative group housing societies instead, and their apartment complexes had largely been built by the 1990s. The name even travelled next door: Wikipedia says Pandav Nagar was named partly because it sat between the DDA's Indraprastha Estate and the Indraprastha Extension societies.
Property listings describe the housing as mostly mid-rise DDA and CGHS flats in planned societies, with some independent houses. The society names that appear in public listings give a feel for the place: Balco Apartments beside the market of the same name, Delhi Rajdhani Apartment, Himalaya Apartment, Himvarsa Apartment, Milan Vihar, Pharma Apartment on Madhu Vihar Road, Saraswati Apartment, and the DDA Narwana Apartments.
The larger complexes come with shared facilities. MyGate's neighbourhood guide describes Delhi Rajdhani Apartment, a three-acre CGHS project from the mid-1990s, as having badminton courts, a pool and a library for residents. Facilities like these vary a lot from one society to the next, so ask your own RWA what is open to children for quiet study.
Balco Market, which NoBroker calls MAD (Balco) Market, sits centrally and covers groceries, bakeries and daily needs; Madhu Vihar market is the next shopping street. Max Super Speciality Hospital at Patparganj is the large landmark nearby, and smaller hospitals include Shanti Mukand and Mangalam, the latter near Press Apartments. Naming the closest of these in your directions helps a first-time visitor.
Think of IP Extension as a grid of society compounds bounded by busier roads. Vikas Marg, on the Preet Vihar side, carries traffic towards Laxmi Nagar, Swami Dayanand Marg and Madhu Vihar Road thread between the complexes, and Narwana Road leads off towards Mandawali. Patparganj's wider locality, with its industrial area and older blocks, wraps around the society cluster, while the Delhi–Meerut Expressway and Anand Vihar lie beyond. Because many compounds look alike from the road, the society's own name on its gate is what a tutor will look for, so spell it the way it is written there.
Mid-rise blocks often have stairs as well as lifts, and flats share walls with neighbours. Choose a room away from the shared landing, close the window on the road side during busy hours, and keep the study table free of other family work on lesson days.
Resident reviews on NoBroker paint a fairly clear picture. Here are the recurring themes, turned into planning tips for tuition.
These are themes paraphrased from public reviews, not facts about every society.
The IP Extension station opened on 31 October 2018 on the Pink Line. It is elevated, with two gates, Gate 1 and Gate 2, and sits between Mandawali - West Vinod Nagar and Anand Vihar. NoBroker places it under a kilometre from the society area. Tell your tutor which gate is nearer to your block; the wrong gate can mean a detour on foot.
Anand Vihar, one Pink Line stop away, is an interchange with the Blue Line and is linked to the inter-state bus terminal and Anand Vihar Terminal railway station. Tutors from Kaushambi or the Vaishali side can switch there. Preet Vihar on Vikas Marg is the other Blue Line option, followed by a short e-rickshaw ride.
DTC and cluster buses run along Vikas Marg, which suits tutors who do not drive. By car or two-wheeler, the main ways in are Swami Dayanand Marg and Madhu Vihar Road from Vikas Marg, or Narwana Road from the Mandawali side. The Delhi–Meerut Expressway along NH-9 links the area with Noida, Ghaziabad and central Delhi.
NXTutors searches nearest first: tutors who list this area, then tutors who travel within the zone, then the wider city, then online. Tutors from Preet Vihar, Anand Vihar and elsewhere in Patparganj have short journeys. We do not claim anyone lives in your society.
Nearly every home in IP Extension is behind a society gate. On the first visit, the guard will usually write down the tutor's name and the flat being visited, then ring the flat. That takes a few minutes, so ask the tutor to arrive a little early for the demo.
Families who want a woman tutor can say so at the start, and we shortlist accordingly; see woman tutors for home lessons in Delhi.
About checks: tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check. We confirm a phone number or email by one-time code, and a team member reviews the government photo ID the tutor uploads. That is not a police or background check. Details are on how we check tutors.
Requests from these societies are mostly for CBSE, with ICSE and ISC next, and a few for IB and Cambridge IGCSE. That mirrors Delhi as a whole rather than anything unusual about IP Extension.
The local difference is the setting. In a society flat with shared walls and evening noise from the play areas, a tutor who knows your board well keeps a short lesson focused: NCERT and CBSE sample papers for CBSE, the CISCE prescribed texts for ICSE and ISC. Share the school's book list at the demo.
Weighing a board change? Our board-by-board guide sets them side by side; for ICSE support, see ICSE home tutors in Delhi.
For children up to Class 5, a patient tutor who works from the school diary is more useful than a fast-paced one. Short sessions on most weekdays build reading and number habits. Society play areas are busy in the evening, so a slot just after school, before friends come out, tends to suit younger children.
Middle-school work grows quickly in Maths, Science and English grammar. Ask the tutor to keep a running list of weak topics and to revisit them every few weeks, so gaps from Class 6 do not follow your child into Class 9. A home English tutor in Delhi can help if writing is the weak spot.
Board preparation starts here. Most families move to subject-wise help, often Maths and Science first. Set a fixed weekly test and keep the marked papers in one folder. Our Class 10 home tutors in Delhi page explains common lesson patterns.
Seniors choose a stream, and tuition follows it: Physics, Chemistry and Maths or Biology for science; Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics for commerce. If a student is also preparing for JEE Main or NEET-UG, which the National Testing Agency conducts, the home tutor can handle school chapters while entrance practice runs online or at a centre.
Winter brings board exams and, in Delhi, bad-air days. In November 2025, under Stage III of the pollution plan, a Directorate of Education circular sent classes up to Class V into hybrid mode, so build an online back-up into the plan for those weeks. Ask the tutor for a revision calendar by December, and keep the Gate 1 or Gate 2 walking route in mind if fog slows traffic. Check exam dates only on cbse.gov.in or cisce.org.
At home, your child gets full attention and you can watch how lessons go. That suits younger children, students who are shy in a batch, and anyone who needs to rebuild basics.
Online tutoring helps when the right teacher lives far away, for specialist subjects, or when you want to avoid gate entries and road traffic on busy days. See online tuition in Delhi.
A coaching centre gives a timetable and a peer group but means travel and a fixed pace. Plenty of East Delhi families keep coaching for entrance drills and bring a tutor home for the school syllabus. Try the free demo before deciding which mix fits.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, and the shortlist shows it before the demo.
What changes the fee: the class and board, the subject, the length of each session and how many sessions a week you book. A tutor coming one metro stop has an easy trip; one crossing Vikas Marg at the busy hour may ask for longer sessions on fewer days. Board-year and entrance-focused teaching usually costs more than general homework help.
Before you agree, confirm the monthly total and how missed sessions and holidays are treated.
The Delhi Public Library's East Zone list includes a sub-branch inside Yojna Vihar Housing Society, which shares the 110092 postcode, open 10 am to 5 pm. For a longer study day, the Shahdara zonal library has a self-study room. Some societies, such as Delhi Rajdhani Apartment, list a residents' library; ask your RWA whether yours has one. Check DPL timings on dpl.gov.in before visiting.

IP Extension is one of nine NXTutors pages in the Mayur Vihar, Patparganj & IP Extension zone of Delhi. You can ask for help in any subject, from early-years reading to Class 12 chemistry, and we suggest two or three tutors matched to the class, board and timings you give us.
Tutors who live in IP Extension or have added it to the places they teach are listed first on this page. If no one is listed for IP Extension yet, look to the tutors from Patparganj, Mandawali, the three Mayur Vihar phases and other zone pages. Beyond them sit tutors from elsewhere in Delhi, home tutors from Noida or Ghaziabad, and online teachers, Delhi ones first. Real profiles always appear before sample ones.
Before the first session, ask the tutor what they plan to cover in the opening weeks and how they will tell you about progress. If your child needs a specialist for a senior subject such as chemistry, a mix of home and online lessons can work well. The demo class is free, each fee is shown upfront, and our Chemistry home tutors page offers more choice.
