Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Few places in Delhi are easier for a tutor to reach by public transport. Anand Vihar has a metro interchange, a Namo Bharat station, a railway terminal and an interstate bus terminal side by side. The harder part is the busy roads around them, which this guide helps you plan around.

Most people outside East Delhi know Anand Vihar as a place to catch a train or a bus. Anand Vihar Terminal opened in December 2009 and is one of Delhi's long-distance railway terminals, run by the Delhi division of Northern Railway. Next to it stands the interstate bus terminal, which Square Yards describes as linking Delhi with Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The metro station and the underground Namo Bharat station complete the hub.
The homes are in the colonies set back from that hub. Wikipedia treats Shreshtha Vihar as part of the wider Anand Vihar locality: a residential colony next to the Uttar Pradesh border, established in 1956, made up mainly of kothis and villas with two apartment complexes, a central park, a community centre and a small market. Property portals list a ring of similar pockets under the Anand Vihar name: Jagriti Enclave, AGCR Enclave, Ram Vihar, Yojana Vihar, Savita Vihar and Ashoka Niketan.
Across these colonies, Square Yards' listings show builder floors as the main housing type, followed by apartments, with three-bedroom homes the most common size. Many older kothis have been rebuilt as floors, so one plot may now hold several households, each with its own entrance or a shared stair.
For tutoring, this means the address that matters is the colony and the house, not "Anand Vihar". A tutor told only the area name may head for the terminals. Always lead with the colony, the block and the house number.
Locality reviews on NoBroker and Square Yards return to a clear set of themes. Here is what each means for lessons at home.
Anand Vihar ISBT metro station is an elevated interchange. Its Blue Line platforms opened in January 2010, and the station was the end of the Blue Line until July 2011, after which trains ran on towards Vaishali. The Pink Line platforms opened in October 2018. On the Blue Line, the neighbours are Karkarduma towards the city and Kaushambi towards Vaishali. On the Pink Line, they are I.P. Extension on one side and Karkarduma on the other.
DMRC lists three gates. Gate 1 serves the Pink Line and points towards the bus terminal, Gate 2 opens in front of the bus terminal, and Gate 3 lies between the bus terminal and the railway station. For a home in the colonies, ask the tutor to use the gate you yourself use, because the terminal side can be crowded.
The Namo Bharat station at Anand Vihar opened in January 2025. It is the only underground station on the Delhi–Meerut corridor, between New Ashok Nagar and Sahibabad, and it connects with the metro, the railway terminal and the bus terminal. A tutor living along that corridor can reach you quickly, which is useful for senior subjects where specialists are scarce.
Feeder bus MC-719, run by DMRC as a loop from the metro station, covers Yojana Vihar, Ashok Niketan, the Yamuna Sports Complex, Ram Vihar, Jagriti Enclave and Saini Enclave before reaching Karkarduma station and Arya Nagar. If your colony is on that loop, mention it to the tutor. Otherwise, e-rickshaws cover the last stretch.
Most Anand Vihar families live in builder floors or kothis on plotted blocks, not in large gated societies. Some colonies have an RWA gate at the entry, and the apartment complexes, such as those in Shreshtha Vihar, have their own guards.
A meeting point helps on the first visit. Square Yards lists Anand Vihar Market among the colony's shopping areas, and each colony has its own park or market corner that locals use as a marker. If the tutor has never been to your colony, suggest meeting at a spot like that and walking the last few metres together, or send a short video of the turn into your lane. After one visit, most tutors find the way on their own.
Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check: they confirm their phone with a one-time code and upload a government photo ID, which our team reviews before the badge appears. See how tutors are checked. This is not a police or background check, so use your own judgement too.
Requests from Anand Vihar are mostly for CBSE, with some ICSE and ISC students and a smaller number on IB or IGCSE. When you request a tutor, give the board exactly as your child's school states it, not the one most common in your lane, since neighbouring children can be on different boards.
For home lessons in a builder floor, board makes a practical difference too: an ICSE home tutor in Delhi often brings set literature texts and a lot of written work, which needs a proper table rather than a sofa. Our article comparing CBSE, ICSE, IB and IGCSE covers how the boards differ.
For young children, the tutor's main job is routine: reading aloud, handwriting, number work and the week's homework. Two short visits after school plus one on the weekend give a steady rhythm. Ask the tutor to leave a few minutes at the end to tell you what to practise.
At this stage, a tutor should be teaching the chapter, not only finishing homework. Check that your child can explain a Maths method or a Science idea back to the tutor in their own words. A Science home tutor who uses simple home experiments can make these years more interesting.
In Anand Vihar, where tutors can arrive from several metro lines, families with a Class 9 or 10 child often book a separate tutor for Maths and Science and another for English or Social Science. Ask each tutor to set a short written test every few weeks so you can see progress without waiting for school marks.
Senior subjects need specialists, and the rail links here help: a Physics, Chemistry, Accountancy or Economics tutor can come by metro or Namo Bharat from further away. A Class 12 home tutor in Delhi should plan the year backwards from the board exam and the practical work.
Students preparing for entrance exams often attend a coaching programme and use a home tutor to clear doubts and practise problems at their own pace. The National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main and NEET-UG; check nta.ac.in for official information.
Board exams fall mostly in February and March for CBSE students; CISCE publishes ICSE and ISC dates on cisce.org, and IB and Cambridge students follow their own exam sessions. Take dates only from the official board sites. Locally, two things affect exam-season lessons: winter air in the weeks before the exams, and the traffic around the terminals that does not ease for exams. Plan a few online revision sessions for the worst days.
A home tutor means your child stays in, away from the traffic around the terminals, and you can see how lessons go. Because the colony is so well connected, your choice of tutors is wider than in many parts of Delhi.
Online lessons help on poor-air days, during heavy rain and when the specialist you need lives far away. They also work well for short doubt sessions between home lessons.
Coaching centres along the Blue Line, in Laxmi Nagar and Preet Vihar for instance, are within reach, and some Anand Vihar students do ride there for group classes. The trade-off is your child's travel time and the crowds at the station. A centre suits students who do well with a group pace; a home tutor suits those who need time on their own weak spots. If you choose online lessons, look at online tutoring for Delhi.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, and NXTutors shows each one before your free demo.
In Anand Vihar, the fee mainly follows your child's class, board and subject and the number of lessons a week. Senior science subjects and exam preparation cost more than primary help. Because tutors can come by metro or Namo Bharat, a specialist from further away may be a realistic choice, though some may ask for a slightly higher fee if the journey is long. Agree on the fee, the lesson length and the policy for missed lessons before regular classes begin.
We did not find a public library or civic reading room in Anand Vihar listed by an official source, so we have not named one. Colony parks, such as the central park in Shreshtha Vihar, are good for a short break between study blocks, but most serious study here happens at home.

Perhaps your child in Anand Vihar has started to fall behind in chemistry, or a younger one needs steady help with maths homework. Either way, the request is the same: tell us the class, the board and the subject, and we will put forward two or three tutors who fit. Every fee is on the tutor's profile, so you can read it before the free first lesson rather than after.
Anand Vihar is one of twelve NXTutors pages in the Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar & Shahdara zone. The tutors you meet first here are those who live in Anand Vihar or have said they will travel to it. Where that list is still empty, the page widens step by step: Karkardooma, Geeta Colony and other parts of the zone, then Delhi more broadly, then home tutors based in Noida or Ghaziabad, with online teachers at the very end. A line on every card explains why that person appears.
A practical tip: if a subject like chemistry needs a specialist in Class 11 and 12, it can work well to keep a home tutor for most subjects and take that single subject online. Our chemistry home tutors page is a good place to compare.
