Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Preet Vihar belongs to the Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar and Shahdara zone of Delhi. Below you will find what is specific to this colony: the two main roads that cross here, the Blue Line station on Vikas Marg, the lettered blocks and the timing questions that come up for lessons.

Preet Vihar is a planned residential colony and, on the government map, more than a colony: it names one of the three administrative subdivisions of the East Delhi district, and it has its own municipal ward, number 204. Day to day, though, families think of it as the blocks around the point where Vikas Marg meets Swami Dayanand Marg.
Homes are a mix of builder floors, independent houses and some low-rise apartment buildings, and builder floors make up most of what is listed for sale. Property portals describe C Block, for example, as a mature area of independent houses and low-rise apartments on tree-lined streets. The colony is organised by lettered blocks, and a few have RWA-managed gates. The quieter internal roads sit back from the commercial frontage on Vikas Marg, where the busy stretch near the station carries offices and shops.
The neighbours are close and varied. Nirman Vihar lies to one side along Vikas Marg, Swasthya Vihar on the other, with the Defence Enclave planned colony inside it. Krishan Kunj, Mandawali and Fazalpur are close by, and Laxmi Nagar, Anand Vihar and Surajmal Vihar complete the circle. This matters for tuition because a tutor who already teaches in one of these colonies can usually add a Preet Vihar lesson without a long journey.
Everyday needs are close at hand: Preet Vihar Market for shopping, Madhuban Park for a walk, and a range of clinics and hospitals within a short drive. The Karkardooma court complex, built in 1997–98, sits a short distance away and brings its own office-hour traffic.
Resident reviews and locality guides on property portals raise a consistent set of points. We have turned them into practical advice for planning lessons, not judgements on the colony.
Preet Vihar station is on Vikas Marg, on the Swasthya Vihar side, and opened on 6 January 2010 on the Blue Line's Vaishali branch. One stop west is Nirman Vihar; one stop east is Karkarduma, where the Blue and Pink Lines meet. That interchange is useful: a tutor from Krishna Nagar, Welcome or the Mayur Vihar side of the Pink Line can switch there and come one stop. Karkarduma Court on the Pink Line, roughly 2.7 km away, is another option for the northern blocks.
Bus stops such as Metro Hospital and Nirman Vihar serve the colony. Vikas Marg runs east to west past the station, Swami Dayanand Marg crosses it, and Patparganj Road leads south towards Patparganj and Mayur Vihar. Tutors who ride a two-wheeler usually come along one of these and turn into the blocks.
Mandawali-Chandra Vihar railway station is about 2.7 km away and Anand Vihar Terminal about 5.2 km, which matters only if a tutor commutes from further out.
We do not print travel times, because they change with the hour. Ask each tutor where they start and which station or road they will use for your slot, and plan the first visit with a few minutes in hand.
In most of Preet Vihar, a tutor comes straight to your door: the homes are separate buildings, and one family often has a floor to itself. Give the block letter, the house number and the floor, and mention whether there is a lift. Where your block has an RWA gate with a guard, tell the guard the tutor's name and arrival time before the first visit; after a week or two, the guard will usually know them.
In the low-rise apartment buildings, check whether visitors sign a register at the entrance and whether there is a buzzer. In Defence Enclave next door, where layouts are gated, allow a few extra minutes at the entrance.
During lessons, keep an adult at home, use a room with the door open for younger children, and watch at least part of the free demo. If you prefer a woman tutor for home lessons, add that to your request and we include one when we can.
Every tutor who joins NXTutors completes an ID check. They confirm a phone number or email using a one-time code and upload a government-issued photo ID for our team to review. The check confirms who the tutor is; it is not a police or background check. See our ID check explained.
CBSE is the board most Preet Vihar families ask about, with ICSE and ISC next and the occasional IB or Cambridge IGCSE request. CBSE has introduced a second, optional Class 10 board exam from 2026 for improvement; for a tutor, the target is still the main exam. Independent houses and larger floors often have a spare room, which makes it easier to keep a fixed study corner for past papers and a whiteboard.
For the full comparison of boards, read CBSE vs ICSE vs IB vs IGCSE: which board. If your child is on ICSE or ISC, start with ICSE home tutors in Delhi.
For young children, three short lessons a week usually beat one long one. Madhuban Park is close by, so many families put a short play break before the lesson rather than after it. Reading, writing and number work are the core; ask the tutor to leave one small task for the next day.
This is when subjects separate. A single tutor for Maths and Science, with English if needed, covers most needs. Ask for a weekly note of chapters covered and the next week's plan, so you can see the pace without sitting in on every lesson.
Board work begins in earnest in Class 9. Two or three lessons of about 90 minutes each week, with timed practice from the board's sample papers, is a common pattern. Science at this stage often needs a dedicated tutor; see science tutors who teach at home in Delhi. Book a slot that clears the Vikas Marg evening rush.
In Classes 11 and 12, Preet Vihar students generally book one tutor per subject. Science students often combine school-board lessons with JEE or NEET preparation, and Commerce students look for Accountancy and Economics tutors. The Karkarduma interchange widens the pool of senior-subject tutors, since teachers from both the Blue and Pink Line corridors can reach the colony with a single change. For Physics specialists, see physics home tutor options in Delhi.
CBSE and CISCE hold their board exams early in the calendar year, so tuition peaks between December and March; always take exact dates from the board itself. In Preet Vihar, that window coincides with winter smog, so keep one online revision session a week as a standing fallback. In the weeks before the exams, move lessons earlier, so your child has a calm evening and the tutor is not caught in the Vikas Marg rush.
Home lessons suit most Preet Vihar families, since tutors can walk in from the station or ride in on a two-wheeler and turn straight into the blocks. Online lessons help in three situations: specialist subjects, smoggy winter days and summer evenings with power cuts, if you have a backup. For more, see online tutoring for Delhi families.
Coaching centres are a short metro ride away in Laxmi Nagar, two stops west. Many families pair a coaching class for competitive exams with a home tutor for school subjects. If you do, share both timetables with the tutor so the two complement each other.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Tutors set their own rates, and you see every fee before the demo. The class and board come first, then the subject, the length of each lesson, how many lessons a week you book and the tutor's travel. A tutor coming one stop from Nirman Vihar or Karkarduma may quote differently from one crossing the city. Starting with the demo costs nothing, and changing tutor later is free.
We could not source a public reading room inside Preet Vihar. The Delhi Public Library's Shahdara branch, near Anaj Mandi in Farsh Bazar, is the nearest public library we could confirm. Paid private study libraries operate around the coaching lanes in Laxmi Nagar, two stops west; check the rules and fees in person. Madhuban Park is a place for a break, not for study.

The Class 12 year can feel long, especially when physics sits beside two other heavy subjects. If that is your child's year in Preet Vihar, NXTutors aims to make finding help simple. Send us the subjects, the board and your preferred evenings, and two or three tutors who fit will be suggested.
Preet Vihar is one of the names in the Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar & Shahdara zone. You will see tutors who live in Preet Vihar or travel to it at the head of this page. When that list is short or empty, tutors from Vivek Vihar, Anand Vihar and the other zone pages follow, then those living anywhere else in Delhi, then home tutors based in Gurugram, and finally teachers who work online. Genuine tutors always come before sample profiles.
In the senior years, a tutor's familiarity with the syllabus matters a great deal. Before booking, ask how they cover numericals, how often they set timed practice and how they help with revision before the board exams. The opening class is a free demo, and each fee is visible on the profile. Our Physics home tutors page lists more choices across Delhi.
