Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Vivek Vihar sits on the Red Line side of East Delhi rather than on the Blue Line, so most tutors arrive via Jhilmil or Dilshad Garden stations, or by road along GT Road.

Vivek Vihar is a residential colony in Delhi's Shahdara district, close to the Uttar Pradesh border. The name also covers a wider area: Vivek Vihar is one of the three subdivisions of Shahdara district, taking in places such as Karkarduma, Jhilmil and Chandrawali. This guide is about the colony itself.
Wikipedia describes the colony as systematically laid out, low-rise and mainly residential, with builder floors and independent houses. Square Yards adds the two sub-localities, Phase 1 and Phase 2, and the colony's edges: a railway line along the north and the Ghazipur Drain to the east. Inside, the blocks are marked by small parks; Square Yards lists several within walking distance, including a Woodland Park, a Triangle Park and a children's park, along with many block parks.
Residents writing on NoBroker often mention how wide and clean the main roads feel compared with nearby colonies, and they describe the area as quiet and residential. They also note that many old houses have been rebuilt as builder floors, which has brought more households into each lane.
For a tutor visiting the first time, this means a home is usually easy to find once they know the phase and block, but lane parking may be tight. Families booking lessons should share both the phase and the block letter, so the tutor heads for the right half of the colony from the start.
Public reviews of Vivek Vihar on property portals point to a handful of everyday themes. Each has a practical meaning for home lessons.
The Red Line is the main metro route. DMRC's data lists Dilshad Garden station at the Delhi–Uttar Pradesh border, with Gate 1 towards the parking and Gate 2 towards Dilshad Colony. The next station west is Jhilmil, which opened in June 2008 on GT Road; its Gate 1 opens on the Jhilmil Industrial Area side and Gate 2 towards GT Road. Beyond Jhilmil the line runs on through Mansarovar Park and Shahdara towards Kashmere Gate and Rithala, and in the other direction past Dilshad Garden towards Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda).
Square Yards puts Dilshad Garden station closest to the colony, with Anand Vihar ISBT, Karkarduma and Shahdara further away. A tutor from North-East or North Delhi on the Red Line can therefore ride in directly. A tutor living along the Blue or Pink Line usually comes to Karkarduma or Anand Vihar ISBT and takes an e-rickshaw or bus up to the colony.
There are two other options. Vivek Vihar has its own railway station on the Sahibabad–Shahdara–Delhi Junction branch, which some tutors may find handy. And Wikipedia lists DTC routes 313, 336, 340, 342, 358 and 704 at the Vivek Vihar bus stop.
For tutors who drive or ride in, GT Road is the main approach, with Ghazipur Road for local links and the Delhi–Meerut Expressway for longer journeys. Tell a driving tutor which entry into the colony is nearest to your block.
Vivek Vihar is a colony of plotted homes rather than a gated society, so the tutor usually walks up to your front door. Some blocks have an RWA gate or a guard who notes visitors; if yours does, let the guard know the tutor's name before the first lesson.
Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check, and our team reviews the government photo ID before a badge goes on their profile; details are on our tutor checks page. It is not a police or background check, so stay at home during the early lessons and trust your own sense of the tutor.
As elsewhere in East Delhi, most Vivek Vihar requests are for CBSE, with a share for ICSE and ISC and the occasional IB or IGCSE student. In a builder floor, where a family may have one shared study room, ask the tutor to bring the board's own sample or specimen papers on paper rather than expecting a screen. A CBSE tutor for home lessons works from NCERT books and the papers on cbseacademic.nic.in; ICSE and ISC tutors use CISCE's syllabus. For a full side-by-side of the boards, read how CBSE, ICSE, IB and IGCSE differ.
For younger children, consistency is more important than length. A tutor who comes at the same hour on the same days builds a habit quickly. In a quiet colony like Vivek Vihar, the hour just after school and a snack usually works; after that, children tend to want the block park.
Ask the tutor to keep a small notebook of the mistakes your child repeats in Maths and grammar. Every few weeks, a short quiz from that notebook shows whether the gaps are closing. Families often add an English home tutor in Delhi at this stage for reading and writing.
Class 9 is a good year to settle on a tutor you will keep through Class 10. A Class 9 home tutor who knows your child's habits can spend Class 10 on practice rather than on getting to know them.
Senior subjects often mean one tutor per subject. Because Vivek Vihar is on the Red Line rather than the Blue, the pool of specialists who can reach you easily differs from that of colonies a little to the south. Where a strong Physics or Accountancy tutor is far away, combine a weekly home lesson with online sessions.
The Yamuna Sports Complex, a DDA facility in neighbouring Surajmal Vihar, offers a gym, tennis courts, a cricket ground and an artificial-turf hockey pitch. If your child trains there in the evenings, fix tuition on non-training days or straight after school, and tell the tutor the training timetable before the season starts. Around tournaments, an online lesson at a late hour can keep the routine going without an extra trip.
Entrance aspirants usually need a home tutor for doubt clearing and timed practice alongside school or coaching. The National Testing Agency runs JEE Main and NEET-UG; rely on nta.ac.in for dates and notices.
Board exams arrive early in the year, in the same weeks when winter air in East Delhi can be at its worst. Plan the last month of revision so that some sessions can run online without breaking the routine. Take exam dates only from cbse.gov.in, cisce.org, or the IB and Cambridge sites. If your block is near GT Road, a morning revision slot on weekends is often quieter than the evening. In the final fortnight, ask the tutor to switch from teaching to marking full papers under timed conditions, and to keep a list of the questions your child got wrong for one last review.
Home lessons suit Vivek Vihar well: the colony is quiet inside, and tutors on the Red Line can reach it without changing trains.
Online lessons are the fallback for bad-air days, monsoon evenings near the drain, or when the specialist you want lives across the city. See online tuition across Delhi.
Coaching centres mean travel. From Vivek Vihar, reaching the centres in Laxmi Nagar or Preet Vihar usually takes an e-rickshaw or bus to the Blue Line first, which adds time to a child's day. For many families here, a home tutor for school subjects with online help for entrance practice is the simpler mix.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, and NXTutors shows each fee to you before the demo.
The class and board, the subject, how many lessons you book each week and the tutor's experience all move the figure. Distance can also play a part: a tutor travelling from the far end of the Blue Line may quote more than one who lives a short ride away on the Red Line. Agree the fee, the lesson length and what happens when a lesson is cancelled before regular classes begin. Booking two subjects with one tutor, if that tutor is strong in both, can also make the timetable simpler for a family in a builder floor with one study room.
We did not find an official public library branch or civic reading room in Vivek Vihar, so none is listed here. The block parks, which Square Yards counts as one of the colony's strengths, are good for a short walk between study sessions. Serious study happens at home: set up one fixed table, away from the road side of the house if you can.
All areas are listed in the Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar and Shahdara zone. For the city overview, see Delhi home tutors.

Accountancy in Class 11 may be new territory for your child, and as a Vivek Vihar parent you may want a tutor who can make ledgers and journal entries feel logical. You can request that directly. Give us the board, the class and the subjects, and we will come back with two or three suitable tutors.
Vivek Vihar has its own page within the Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar & Shahdara zone. You may also like to look at the Preet Vihar and Yamuna Vihar pages, which are part of the same zone. On this page, tutors who live in Vivek Vihar or travel to it are shown first, and then tutors from elsewhere in the zone, across Delhi, from other NCR cities such as Noida, and online.
For commerce subjects, consider asking a tutor how they combine theory with practice questions and whether they use past board papers. If your child studies under CISCE, mention ISC, since CISCE conducts that Class 12 examination. If your child also needs maths support, mention it in the same request so one shortlist can cover both. You will know each tutor's fee before the free trial class, and our Accountancy home tutors page has further options across the city.
