What home tuition costs in Delhi

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Home tuition in Karkardooma: the short answer

Yes. A home tutor can come to your flat or house in Karkardooma, whether you live in a cooperative society, an older lane near Karkardooma village or one of the new towers coming up beside the metro. Share your child's class, board and subjects with NXTutors and you receive two or three matched tutors who travel to Karkardooma or teach online. Each tutor's fee is on screen before you book, the first class is a free demo, and changing tutor later costs nothing.

Karkardooma has a real advantage here: Karkarduma station sits on two metro lines, and Karkarduma Court station adds a second Pink Line stop, so tutors from a long stretch of East Delhi can reach you without a car.

What Karkardooma is like: a court town, a village core and a growing hub

Karkardooma takes its name from a historic twin village, Karkari, and the old village lanes are still there beside the metro. Wikipedia's article on the station records this origin, and DMRC's own station data names the exits after the village: Gate 1 and the two Pink Line gates face Karkardooma Village, while Gate 2 opens on the hospital side, where the station's parking also sits.

Around that core, the area grew in layers. One layer is the cooperative group housing societies and apartment blocks that East Delhi is known for. Another is the plotted pockets of standalone buildings and independent houses that property portals list under Karkardooma and Anand Vihar. The third is institutional. The Karkardooma Courts Complex began functioning in 1993, its main building was completed in 1997–98, and it handles cases for the East, North-East and Shahdara districts of Delhi. On a working day, that brings a steady flow of lawyers, litigants and staff through the roads around Karkarduma Court station.

The newest layer is still rising. The Delhi Development Authority's plan for the Integrated Development of East Delhi Hub, Karkardooma, places a mixed-use, transit-oriented development right next to the Karkardooma metro station, between Jagriti Enclave, Indrapuri Colony, Karkardooma village and Arya Nagar village. Its first phase includes two-bedroom flats and a block for economically weaker sections, and news reports through 2025 and 2026 describe DDA opening registrations for its high-rise towers.

For a parent, the point is that "Karkardooma" covers very different front doors. A tutor may be walking into a society with a guard and a register, a narrow village lane, a builder floor on a plotted block, or, before long, a lift lobby in a tower. The first message to a tutor should say which of these your home is.

Which tutor fits your child?

What Karkardooma parents think about before booking

Public writing about this part of East Delhi keeps returning to a few practical points. None of them stops home tuition, but each shapes when and how lessons run.

  • Weekday court traffic. The court complex serves three districts, so the roads around it are busiest in court hours on working days. If you live near the complex, ask the tutor to arrive after the court crowd thins, or plan Saturday lessons for longer sessions.
  • Vikas Marg in the evening. Locality write-ups for neighbouring Surajmal Vihar note evening congestion on the main road towards Vikas Marg. A tutor who drives or rides in from Laxmi Nagar or Preet Vihar will meet that stretch, so a lesson that starts before the evening peak is easier to keep on time.
  • Winter air. Anand Vihar, the next area east, is on the Delhi Pollution Control Committee's list of air-pollution hotspots, and its monitoring station stands near the metro. On the worst winter days, many families here simply switch a lesson to online rather than ask a child or tutor to travel.
  • Construction around the hub. A large DDA project beside the interchange means building work, site traffic and changing footpaths for some time. If your home is close to it, send the tutor the exact walking route from the station gate you use.

These are planning notes, not reasons to look elsewhere. Families who time lessons around them tend to find a home tutor works well here.

How a tutor reaches Karkardooma

Karkarduma station is the main door. It is an elevated interchange: the Blue Line platforms opened in January 2010 and the Pink Line platforms in October 2018. On the Blue Line, the station sits between Preet Vihar, towards Yamuna Bank and Dwarka, and Anand Vihar ISBT, towards Vaishali. On the Pink Line, it sits between Anand Vihar ISBT and Karkarduma Court. Wikipedia notes that the Pink Line platform stands about 20 metres above the ground, so a tutor changing lines should allow a few extra minutes for the climb between levels.

That interchange is what widens your choice. A tutor living along the Blue Line in Laxmi Nagar, Nirman Vihar or Preet Vihar can ride straight in. A tutor on the Pink Line from Krishna Nagar, I.P. Extension, Mayur Vihar or further round can also reach you without leaving the train.

Karkarduma Court station, one stop on along the Pink Line, is elevated too and also opened in October 2018. DMRC lists two gates: one towards the court and one on the hospital side. Its address is AGCR Enclave, so it often suits homes on the court side of Karkardooma better than the main interchange does. DMRC also shows the Anand Vihar police station a short walk from this station.

From either station, the last stretch is a walk or an e-rickshaw. DMRC also runs feeder route MC-719 as a loop from Anand Vihar ISBT through colonies such as Jagriti Enclave, Ram Vihar and Saini Enclave to Karkarduma station and Arya Nagar, which can help a tutor heading to the colonies east of the interchange. When you share your address, name the station and the gate number; at a four-gate interchange that one detail saves a lot of phone calls.

Society gates, village lanes and safety in Karkardooma

Entry differs a great deal by housing type, so plan the first visit around yours.

Cooperative societies and apartment blocks

Expect a guard, a visitor register and often an intercom call to your flat. Give the guard the tutor's name and the lesson time before the demo, and tell the tutor the society name, block and flat number. Ask the society office whether a regular visitor can be added to a standing list, so later lessons do not start with a wait at the gate.

Village lanes and plotted pockets

In the older lanes near Karkardooma village and in the plotted blocks, the tutor usually comes straight to your door. House numbers here can be hard to follow, so share a map pin and a nearby marker that a stranger can recognise, such as the station gate or a shop on the corner.

New towers near the hub

If you move into one of the new DDA towers, check how visitor entry works in your building before the first lesson, as arrangements in newly occupied complexes can change in the early months.

On safety: tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check, and the badge on a profile appears only after our team has reviewed that ID; you can read how we check tutors. It is not a police or background check, so keep an adult at home during lessons, at least until you know the tutor well.

Which boards Karkardooma families ask about

Most Karkardooma requests are for CBSE, as across Delhi, with some ICSE and ISC students and the occasional IB or IGCSE student who studies at a school further away. For a CBSE home tutor in Delhi, the core material is the NCERT books plus the sample papers CBSE posts on cbseacademic.nic.in. ICSE and ISC tutors follow CISCE's syllabus and prescribed texts.

What changes for a home tutor in Karkardooma is mostly the space. In a compact society flat, board-year students need a fixed desk away from the main room, because a long revision session with past papers spreads across a whole table. If your child is on a less common board, say so in the first message so you are matched with someone who knows it. For the full comparison of boards, see our guide CBSE vs ICSE vs IB vs IGCSE.

What a Karkardooma home lesson looks like, class by class

Nursery to Class 5

Little children learn well in short, regular sessions. Three or four lessons a week of under an hour usually beat one long weekend session. Ask the tutor to work from the school diary and the class notebooks, and to tell you each week what to practise on the days without a lesson. A primary home tutor who lives along the same metro line can usually keep a steady weekday slot.

Classes 6 to 8

This is when Maths and Science start to need method rather than memory. Many Karkardooma families book one tutor for both, then add English or a language later. Ask for a short monthly note on what has been covered, what is weak and what the school's next unit is.

Classes 9 and 10

Serious board work in Karkardooma homes usually begins a year early, in Class 9. Look for a tutor who keeps a running list of your child's errors and returns to it before every school test. A Class 10 home tutor in Delhi should also plan when lessons move from new chapters to sample papers.

Classes 11 and 12

Senior Science and Commerce often need a separate tutor for each subject. Physics, Chemistry and Maths specialists are in shorter supply, so the metro interchange matters most here: it lets a specialist from elsewhere in East Delhi reach you. Where the right person is far away, a mix of home and online lessons is common.

JEE and NEET

Entrance preparation usually runs alongside school or a coaching programme. A home tutor is most useful for doubt clearing, problem practice and keeping school marks on track. JEE Main and NEET-UG are conducted by the National Testing Agency; take every date from nta.ac.in only.

Exam season for Karkardooma students

For most students here, board exams fall in the early months of the year. Since 2026, CBSE has held two Class 10 board exams a year, the second being optional for improvement; the scheme is on cbse.gov.in. CISCE posts ICSE and ISC timetables on cisce.org. Take dates only from the boards' own sites and agree with your tutor by early winter when lessons move from teaching to revision. Around the court and the hub, weekday traffic does not stop for exam season, so book extra revision sessions for Saturdays or early mornings.

Home tutor, online lessons or a coaching centre from Karkardooma

Home tuition keeps your child at home and lets you see how lessons go. In Karkardooma it also benefits from two metro lines, so you are not limited to tutors from the next block.

Online tuition removes the travel. It suits winter days with poor air, senior subjects where the right specialist lives across the city, and exam weeks. Online tutors for Delhi students can also cover a gap if your home tutor is away.

A coaching centre puts the travel on your child. From Karkardooma, centres in Laxmi Nagar or Preet Vihar are a short metro ride, which makes group classes practical for older students. Many families combine a centre for entrance preparation with a home tutor for school subjects. The deciding question is simple: does your child need a group pace, or someone working on their particular gaps?

Home tuition fees in Karkardooma

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, and NXTutors shows it to you before the demo, so there are no surprises.

Four things move the figure: the class, the board, the subject and the hours you book each week. A tutor's experience with a particular board or exam also counts. Travel matters less in Karkardooma than in areas off the metro, because a tutor coming by train spends less time and money on the journey. Ask whether a combined Maths and Science slot is priced differently from two separate lessons, and agree in writing how cancelled lessons are handled before regular classes start.

Quiet places to study near Karkardooma

We could not find a public library branch or civic study room inside Karkardooma listed by an official source, so we have not named one. For most students here, the study space is a fixed desk at home, set up the same way before every lesson. If your flat is busy in the evening, ask the tutor whether an early-morning weekend slot is possible for long revision sessions.

About this Area

If your child in Karkardooma is preparing for JEE, or simply trying to keep up with senior-school physics, you may want more than a general tutor. Through NXTutors you can request exactly that. Share the class, the board and the entrance exam if there is one, and we will come back with two or three tutors suited to it.

The page lists people in a way that keeps the choice local. First are tutors whose address is in Karkardooma or who have added it to the places they will go. If there is nobody of that kind yet, the list moves on to tutors from Anand Vihar, Krishna Nagar and the other pages of the Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar & Shahdara zone, then to Delhi at large, then to home tutors who live in Faridabad, and only after that to online lessons.

Think about the format early. For entrance preparation in Class 11 and 12, a mix can help: a home tutor for school-board work, plus an online specialist for advanced problem solving. Our JEE home tutors page lets you compare options. Whichever path you choose, you see the tutor's fee before the trial session, and that trial is free.

FAQs

Tell NXTutors your child's class, board, subjects and your Karkardooma address, and you get two or three matched tutors. Each tutor's fee is shown before you book anything. The first class with a tutor is a free demo, and if the fit is wrong later, switching to another tutor is free.
Karkarduma station, the Blue and Pink Line interchange, is the main stop for most of Karkardooma, with Karkarduma Court on the Pink Line closer to the court side. Tell the tutor which station and gate to use. From there, a short walk or an e-rickshaw ride usually covers the rest.
Fees in Karkardooma depend on the tutor, the class, the board and the hours each week, and every tutor sets their own. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. You see each fee before the demo.
Yes, you can ask for a woman tutor when you request home tuition in Karkardooma, and NXTutors will match you with women tutors who travel there or teach online. Mention the preference in your first message. Every tutor who joins goes through an ID check before the badge appears on their profile.
For a Class 11 student in Karkardooma, a home tutor suits gaps in particular subjects, while a coaching centre suits a fixed group pace. Centres in Laxmi Nagar and Preet Vihar are a short metro ride away. Plenty of Karkardooma parents pair a centre's entrance batch with a home tutor who handles school subjects.
Most Karkardooma students who ask for tutors are on CBSE, with some on ICSE or ISC and a few on IB or IGCSE. Tell us the board in your first message. Our board guide compares all four in detail if you are still choosing a school.
Yes, tutors travel to homes near the Karkardooma Courts Complex as readily as anywhere else in the area. Weekday court hours bring heavy traffic, so ask for a lesson after the court crowd has thinned. Karkarduma Court station on the Pink Line is the handy stop on that side.
Start by telling NXTutors that you need a Class 9 maths tutor in Karkardooma, along with the board and your block or society. You get two or three matched tutors with fees shown. Use the free demo to check how each one explains a chapter your child finds hard.
Yes, tutors can teach in the new DDA towers beside Karkarduma station once families move in. Find out how your building registers visitors before the demo, because entry arrangements in newly occupied complexes can change. The towers' closeness to the interchange makes them easy for tutors to reach by metro.
Yes, many Karkardooma families mix home lessons with online ones, using online sessions on poor-air winter days or during exam weeks. Agree with the tutor at the start which days can move online. A tutor who knows your child already makes the switch easy.
In Karkardooma, the easiest slots are usually late afternoon on weekdays, before the evening rush on Vikas Marg, and longer sessions on Saturdays. Homes near the court complex should avoid court arrival and closing times. A tutor coming by metro is less affected by road traffic than one who drives.
Yes, tutors from Preet Vihar and Krishna Nagar can reach Karkardooma easily, because both are short metro rides away. Preet Vihar is the next Blue Line stop and Krishna Nagar is two Pink Line stops away. NXTutors lists tutors who travel to your area first.
Both routes are open. A home tutor gives regular, face-to-face practice, which suits students who need structure. An online tutor widens the choice of subject experts. Some families choose a home tutor for board preparation and an online one for JEE problem sets. A free demo with each will show you which feels right.
Possibly. Krishna Nagar and Karkardooma are both in the Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar & Shahdara zone, and a tutor may list more than one page there. In your chat before the demo, check how many days a week Karkardooma works for them. If the timings clash, move on to the next name on your list.
If you live in a society, expect a gate entry and a call to the flat on the first visit, so you can save time by giving security the tutor's name. A house with its own door is a simpler doorstep visit.
