Home tuition in Yamuna Vihar: what to know

  • Most homes are separate buildings, so the tutor goes straight to the floor; in the Preet Vihar, Vivek Vihar and Surajmal Vihar blocks with RWA gates, give the guard the name first.

What home tuition costs in Delhi

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Home tuition in Yamuna Vihar: the short answer

Yes. A tutor can come to your home in Yamuna Vihar, whether you live in one of the B blocks from B-1 to B-5 or the C blocks from C-1 to C-12, or teach your child online. Tell NXTutors the class, board, subjects and your block and house number, and we suggest two or three matched tutors who travel to Yamuna Vihar or teach online. Every fee is visible before you book, the first class is a free demo, and if you want a different tutor later, the switch is free.

Yamuna Vihar is in our Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar and Shahdara zone under home tutors in Delhi. Since March 2026 it has its own Pink Line station, which has changed how easily tutors from North and Central Delhi can reach it.

Yamuna Vihar's blocks, homes and parks

Yamuna Vihar is a planned colony developed by the Delhi Development Authority and named after the river nearby. Its blocks are numbered in two series, B-1 to B-5 and C-1 to C-12, and Bhajanpura next door is often described locally as its A block. On the 2022 municipal ward map, the Yamuna Vihar ward also shows a community centre in C-10, Ghonda Road and Maujpur Road along its edges, and neighbouring wards including Bhajanpura, Maujpur, Ghonda and Gokal Puri.

The homes are mostly DDA-plotted builder floors and small independent plots, so the streets are low-rise and a tutor usually climbs a staircase to a floor rather than taking a lift. Each block has its own market, children's playground, parks and parking area, and a central shopping complex serves the wider colony.

Green space is a strength here. Beside the block parks, the colony has a women's park, called Mahila Park, parks laid out for older residents, and a Ram Lila Ground that draws crowds during Dussehra. The DTC bus depot sits within the colony, and the north-east zonal office of the Delhi government's Directorate of Education is in Yamuna Vihar, along with a Delhi University college.

Wazirabad Road is the main road out towards the river, and the Signature Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge opened in November 2018, carries traffic across the Yamuna to Wazirabad. Kashmere Gate's bus terminal is about 6 km away, and Delhi University's North Campus about 7 km.

Which tutor fits your child?

What Yamuna Vihar parents weigh up

The Square Yards locality page for Yamuna Vihar lists the points residents raise most. Here is what each one means for tuition.

  • Parks and a settled colony. Green areas and an established, planned layout are listed as strengths. A short walk in the block park between study blocks is easy to build into the routine.
  • Police presence. The page reports a visible police presence and a secure feel. Still, share the tutor's details with any RWA gate staff.
  • Peak-hour traffic. Heavy traffic at peak hours is a common drawback. Plan home lessons outside office times if the tutor comes by road.
  • Parking near the main road. Parking is scarce near the main road. A tutor on a scooter or arriving by metro and e-rickshaw has fewer problems.
  • Winter air and monsoon floods. Poor winter air quality and Yamuna flood risk during the monsoon are both listed. Keep an online option ready for the worst days in either season.
  • Housing costs and older infrastructure. Housing is described as lower in cost than much of Delhi, while some infrastructure is older. Neither changes tuition much, but older stairwells can be steep for a tutor carrying books.

How tutors reach Yamuna Vihar

Yamuna Vihar metro station

Yamuna Vihar station is on the Pink Line stretch from Majlis Park to Maujpur - Babarpur, which opened on 8 March 2026 and closed the Pink Line into a full ring. The next station north is Bhajanpura; the next south is Maujpur - Babarpur, where the short branch to Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar begins.

From the north and west

Before 2026, tutors from North Delhi had to travel round through other lines. Now a tutor can come along the ring from Majlis Park, where the Pink Line meets the Magenta Line, via Burari, Jagatpur - Wazirabad and Khajuri Khas. Soorghat station on that stretch is built but not yet open, so trains pass through it.

From the south and east

Tutors from the Shahdara and Krishna Nagar side ride the Pink Line north via Welcome, where the Red Line meets it, and Jaffrabad. Seelampur on the Red Line is another option for tutors who prefer an e-rickshaw for the last leg.

Roadworks under the viaduct

Between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar the metro runs on a double-decker viaduct with a road flyover planned on the lower deck. In 2026 the metro deck was running while work on the road deck was still under way. Expect diversions along this stretch until the road deck is finished, and ask road-travelling tutors to allow for them.

By road and bus

Wazirabad Road leads to the Signature Bridge, Ghonda Road and Maujpur Road run along the edges, and the DTC depot inside the colony helps tutors who use buses.

Gates, floors and safety in Yamuna Vihar

Most homes here are separate builder floors, so the tutor goes straight to the house. Some blocks have RWA gates where visitors are noted; if yours does, tell the gate staff the tutor's name and arrival time beforehand.

Send the block (for example C-4), house number, floor and a map pin. If the building has more than one entrance or a shared staircase, say which to use, and point out where a scooter can stand.

For younger children, hold the lesson where a parent can glance in, and watch some of the free demo yourself. Tutors who join NXTutors pass an ID check: a one-time code confirms their contact details, and our team reviews an uploaded government photo ID. It is not a background check; read how the ID check works. You can ask for a woman tutor in your request.

Planning tuition around Yamuna Vihar's year

A few events and seasons in Yamuna Vihar affect when a tutor can come and how long a lesson can run. Plan for them at the start rather than cancelling on the day.

  • Dussehra. The Ram Lila Ground draws crowds during Dussehra. If your home is close to it, move evening lessons earlier or online for those days, and expect slower traffic on the roads around it.
  • Monsoon. Square Yards lists Yamuna flood risk during the monsoon among local drawbacks. On heavy-rain days, an online lesson keeps the week's plan on track without anyone travelling.
  • Winter air. Poor winter air quality is also listed. When the air is bad, a tutor who would otherwise ride a scooter in from Shahdara or Maujpur may prefer to teach online, so agree the rule early.
  • The new station. Because the Pink Line station opened only in March 2026, some tutors may not yet know the walking route from it. Send a short note on which exit to use and which lane leads to your block.
  • Roadworks. Until the road deck under the viaduct near Bhajanpura is complete, road traffic along that stretch may be diverted. Metro travel is not affected.

None of these is a reason to avoid home tuition; they are simply the points where a backup plan helps.

Boards Yamuna Vihar families ask about

CBSE is the board most Delhi students sit, so a tutor coming to Yamuna Vihar meets it most often, with some ICSE or ISC students and a few on IB or Cambridge. ICSE families often want help with English literature and long written answers; an ICSE home tutor in Delhi can work on both. In a low-rise builder floor with a quiet back room, a home tutor can set full-length papers without interruption.

For the full comparison, read our guide to CBSE, ICSE, IB and IGCSE.

Yamuna Vihar tuition from primary to Class 12

Nursery to Class 5

Short lessons of about 45 minutes suit young children. With a park in every block, a break outdoors before the lesson helps a restless child settle. Ask for a weekly note on reading and number work.

Classes 6 to 8

Maths and Science start needing real teaching. One tutor for both is a common start; ask for a mistakes notebook that you can look at each week.

Classes 9 and 10

Lessons of about 90 minutes, two or three times a week, allow teaching and practice in one visit. Our Class 10 tuition at home page sets out what the board year usually needs.

Classes 11 and 12

Students usually need a specialist per subject. With the new station, a specialist from North or Central Delhi can now reach Yamuna Vihar on the Pink Line, or teach some sessions online.

Engineering entrance

JEE students often attend a coaching batch and want a JEE home tutor for doubts and timed problem sets. Agree in the demo how the tutor will work with the coaching material.

Exam season in Yamuna Vihar

Use only the boards' own sites, and nta.ac.in for JEE Main and NEET, for dates. In the final weeks, ask the tutor to move to timed papers. Winter air can be poor, so agree in advance that a bad-air day becomes an online class rather than a missed one.

Home, online or a centre from Yamuna Vihar

A home tutor spares your child the trip through peak-hour traffic and lets you follow lessons from the next room. The new Pink Line station means more tutors can now reach the colony without a car.

Online lessons suit specialist subjects, monsoon days, winter evenings and exam weeks. See online tutors for Delhi families.

A coaching centre suits a student who wants a fixed exam batch with peers, at the cost of travel. Plenty of Yamuna Vihar students pair a centre for entrance batches with a home tutor for schoolwork.

Home tuition fees in Yamuna Vihar

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Each tutor names a fee, and NXTutors puts it on your shortlist before the demo. Class and board count most, followed by the subject, the weekly sessions and how long each lasts. A tutor travelling from across the river may build in the journey, whereas one living in a neighbouring colony may not. Turning one weekly lesson into an online session can also change the monthly cost.

The demo class costs nothing, and neither does a later change of tutor.

About this Area

Class 8 is often the year when maths starts to build on itself, and a gap left now can widen in Class 9 and 10. Yamuna Vihar parents who notice this early can ask NXTutors for a maths tutor, and we will reply with two or three tutors who teach that class and board.

When you write, tell us which school books your child uses, the chapters that feel hardest, and whether homework or tests are the bigger problem. Also say if your child prefers a calm, slow pace or a brisker one. Small details like these help us suggest people whose style will suit.

Yamuna Vihar is part of the Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar & Shahdara zone on NXTutors. On this page you first see tutors who live in Yamuna Vihar or come here to teach. If there are none for your subject, Shahdara, Dilshad Garden and the zone's other pages fill the gap, then Delhi beyond the zone, then a home tutor from Noida or Ghaziabad, and online teachers as well. Every tutor's fee is listed upfront, and your first lesson is a free demo. You can also browse Maths home tutors across Delhi.

FAQs

Send NXTutors your child's class, board, subjects and Yamuna Vihar block, and we suggest two or three matched tutors. Every fee is on the shortlist before you book. The first class is a free demo, and switching to another tutor later is free as well.
Yes, Yamuna Vihar has had its own Pink Line station since 8 March 2026, when the Majlis Park to Maujpur - Babarpur stretch opened. Bhajanpura is the next station north, and Maujpur - Babarpur is the next one south. Most tutors finish the trip on foot or by e-rickshaw.
Yamuna Vihar tutors set their own fees, and you see each one before the demo. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Yes, you can ask for a woman tutor in Yamuna Vihar, and we match on that preference. Mention the class, subjects and timing. If your block has an RWA gate, share her name and arrival time with the gate staff before the first visit.
Yes, NXTutors matches JEE tutors who travel to Yamuna Vihar or teach online. Many students attend a coaching batch as well, so tell us which one and agree in the free demo how the tutor will handle doubts and timed practice.
For school subjects, a home tutor in Yamuna Vihar usually gives more attention and saves a trip in peak-hour traffic. For JEE or NEET, many students join a coaching batch and keep a home tutor for doubts and school tests.
Tutors in Yamuna Vihar meet CBSE most often, since most Delhi students sit that board, with some ICSE and ISC and a few IB or Cambridge. Tell us the exact board and class so the tutor uses the right books and answer style.
Yamuna Vihar blocks run in two series, B-1 to B-5 and C-1 to C-12, with Bhajanpura often called the A block. Give the tutor your block, house number and floor, plus a map pin, because neighbouring blocks look alike. Mention a landmark such as the community centre in C-10.
NXTutors lists maths tutors who travel to the C blocks of Yamuna Vihar first, then adds online tutors if needed. Share your block number, such as C-4 or C-10, and the chapters your child finds hard, so the tutor can plan.
Possibly, because the road deck under the double-decker metro viaduct between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar was still under construction in 2026. A tutor coming by metro is unaffected; one coming by road should plan for diversions and leave earlier than usual.
We found no public library inside Yamuna Vihar, but the Delhi Public Library lists a unit at the DDA Community Centre in Seelampur. It opens from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday. Within the colony, block parks suit short breaks between study sessions.
Yes, an online fallback is sensible for Yamuna Vihar in the monsoon, because Yamuna flood risk is listed among local drawbacks. Agree with the tutor at the start that a heavy-rain day becomes an online lesson, not a cancelled one.
Yes, since March 2026 tutors from North Delhi can ride the Pink Line from Majlis Park, where it meets the Magenta Line, straight to Yamuna Vihar. Before the ring was completed, the same trip needed changes on other lines and took a longer route.
If you see gaps in basics like fractions, equations or geometry, starting early helps. A tutor can rebuild foundations before Class 9 and 10 become heavier. Share the school books and recent test papers in your request. The demo is free, so you lose nothing by trying, and you can change tutor later at no cost.
Yes. Switching tutor is free at any point. Let us know what you would like to be different, such as more practice, a slower pace or different timings, and we will suggest another tutor. The new tutor can pick up from the chapters already covered, so your child does not need to start over.
