Geeta Colony sits in our Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar and Shahdara zone, part of NXTutors in Delhi. It has no metro station of its own, so the route a tutor takes matters more here than in most East Delhi colonies.

Geeta Colony is a mid-twentieth-century colony laid out in numbered blocks along the east bank of the Yamuna. The municipal ward maps from the 2022 delimitation show how the blocks fall: Blocks 5, 6, 7 and 11 to 16 and 18 in ward 210, which takes the colony's name, and Blocks 1A, 2, 2A, 4, 8, 8A, 9 and 10 in ward 211 alongside Krishna Nagar. Ghondli, Rani Garden, Jheel Khurenja and Khureji Khas border the blocks, and Taj Enclave Road and Khureji Khas Road run through the southern part. Give the tutor your block number first, because the blocks are not in a simple order on the ground.
The housing is a mix of old and new on the same street. Some lanes still have older independent houses, while many plots have been rebuilt as builder floors with parking and lift access, and redevelopment is ongoing. A handful of apartment buildings, such as Geeta Apartment and Taj Sartaj Society on the map, sit among the plots. Builder floors dominate demand, and the rental market stays active through the year.
Everyday life is local: neighbourhood markets, banks, pharmacies, clinics and small shops stay busy most of the day, and Geeta Colony Market serves daily needs, with Shahdara's markets a short ride north. Open space comes from neighbourhood parks and a Ram Lila Ground within the colony. The ward map also marks the Geeta Colony police station between Blocks 8 and 10, a useful landmark when you describe your route.
Two pieces of road infrastructure shape the western edge. The Geeta Colony bridge, completed in 2008, crosses the Yamuna to the Ring Road near Shantivan. Since 2026 the elevated stretch of the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway also runs from Geeta Colony towards Khajoori Khas along the river side.
The Square Yards locality summary for Geeta Colony and a set of block-level pages on Aurum PropTech mention the same advantages and drawbacks. Here is what each one means for a tuition timetable.
Geeta Colony has no metro station of its own, so tutors pick from stations on three lines and finish by e-rickshaw or on foot. On the Pink Line, Krishna Nagar and East Azad Nagar are closest to the eastern blocks. On the Blue Line, Laxmi Nagar, Nirman Vihar and Preet Vihar serve the southern side. Seelampur, on the Red Line, is the option for tutors coming from the north-east. Square Yards puts Krishna Nagar station about 3 km away, so the last leg is not always a short walk.
Geeta Colony Bridge Road links the colony to the Ring Road across the Yamuna, which suits tutors coming from Central or North Delhi. Patparganj Road runs along the Krishna Nagar side, and Taj Enclave Road and Khureji Khas Road lead into the southern blocks. The Delhi–Dehradun Expressway's elevated stretch now passes the colony on the river side, so a tutor coming from the north on that road should check which exit brings them nearest your block.
A bus stop named Geeta Colony is mapped near New Lahore Mohalla, and e-rickshaws are widely used from the stations. If your home is deep in the blocks, send the tutor a landmark such as the police station or the Ram Lila Ground.
Almost every home here is a separate building, so there is no society gate between the tutor and your door. Send the block number, house number and floor, plus a map pin. In a rebuilt builder floor with a lift, say whether the lift needs a key or a code. In an older house, mention if the staircase is shared with another family.
The few apartment buildings in the colony may have a guard who notes visitors. If you live in one, tell the guard the tutor's name and time in advance.
Keep the lesson in a room an adult can see into, especially for younger children, and stay for part of the free demo. Every tutor who joins NXTutors goes through an ID check, with a one-time code on their phone or email and a government photo ID our team reviews. It is not a police check. The details are on how we check tutor IDs. If you want a woman tutor, say so in the request.
As in most of Delhi, CBSE is the board a tutor will meet most often in Geeta Colony, with ICSE and ISC less common and IB or Cambridge rare. For CBSE, a CBSE home tutor in Delhi works from NCERT books and the sample papers on cbseacademic.nic.in. In a small builder floor, a tutor can keep a folder of marked answers at your home between visits, which helps for written subjects such as English and Social Science.
For how the boards compare on syllabus and assessment, read our guide which board suits your child: CBSE, ICSE, IB or IGCSE.
Short, frequent lessons work for this age. In a crowded lane, an afternoon slot after school, before the evening traffic, keeps the tutor's journey short and your child fresh. A primary home tutor in Delhi usually covers reading, handwriting, number work and EVS together.
Maths and Science become the main need. Ask the tutor to keep a notebook of mistakes so that patterns show up before the half-yearly exams. A science tutor at home can also start simple lab-style demonstrations with kitchen materials.
Sessions of about an hour and a half, two or three times a week, let the tutor teach a chapter and set practice in one sitting. Many students also want help with English writing at this stage; English tuition at home covers letters, essays and comprehension.
A subject specialist is usually needed for each of Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology, or for Accountancy and Economics. Because the colony has no station of its own, ask a specialist to try the route once before agreeing a timetable.
JEE and NEET students often attend a coaching batch nearby and want a home tutor for doubts. Agree in the demo whether the tutor follows the coaching material or sets separate practice.
Board exams fall early in the year for most students; dates come only from the board's own site, and JEE Main and NEET dates only from nta.ac.in. In the last weeks, ask the tutor to move from teaching to timed papers. Book lessons outside office-hour traffic on the main roads, so a tutor coming over the bridge or from a station is not cutting the session short.
Home tuition removes your child's journey through busy roads and lets you hear how lessons go. In a colony without its own metro station, that saved trip counts for more.
Online lessons suit specialist subjects, late evenings and exam weeks, and a tutor from across the city can teach without the commute. A mix, for example two home lessons and one online, is common.
A coaching centre suits a student who wants an exam batch with peers. The trade-off is travel time each way. Many families keep a home tutor for school subjects alongside a centre.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Tutors set their own fees, and each one is on your Geeta Colony shortlist before the demo. The class and board matter most, then the subject, the number of sessions and their length. Because there is no station inside the colony, a tutor who has a long last leg may price that in, while one living in a neighbouring colony may not. Adding an online session can lower the travel element.
The demo class is free, and so is changing tutor later.
We could not find a public library inside Geeta Colony in a reliable source. The Delhi Public Library's Shahdara zonal unit, near Anaj Mandi in Farsh Bazar, is the closest listed unit with a self-study room. At home, a back room away from the lane is the practical choice.

If you are searching for a home tutor in Geeta Colony, start by telling us what your child is studying right now. A note such as “Class 8, ICSE, struggling with algebra, free after five” is enough for us to suggest two or three tutors whose experience fits that exact need.
Geeta Colony sits within the Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar & Shahdara zone, one of its twelve pages alongside Krishna Nagar, Laxmi Nagar and Shahdara. Tutors who live in Geeta Colony, or who have chosen to teach there, appear first. Next you will find tutors from those other pages of the zone, then from the wider city, then home tutors living in Noida or Gurugram, and lastly online teachers. Each card states the reason it is on your screen.
Families on the CISCE syllabus should say so clearly. CISCE runs the ICSE examination in Class 10 and the ISC in Class 12, and a tutor who has taught those classes can plan the year around them. The same care applies to CBSE students. Whoever you pick, your opening session costs nothing, which gives your child a fair chance to see whether the teaching style clicks.
