Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Sarita Vihar is a DDA colony of lettered pockets on Mathura Road, near the Uttar Pradesh border, in our Kalkaji, CR Park & Sarita Vihar zone of Delhi. Its own Violet Line station stands in Pocket C, and that, plus the Mathura Road traffic, decides most tuition plans here.

Sarita Vihar was built on land acquired from Madanpur Khadar village. Wikipedia records the belief that the site was first chosen for the Games Village of the 1982 Asian Games before it became a residential colony. Today it is a settled DDA neighbourhood of older mid-rise blocks and cooperative society flats, which property portals describe as tree-lined, with small local markets for daily needs.
The colony is organised by pocket. A Delhi Jal Board consultation schedule lists separate resident welfare associations for Pockets A, C, D, E, F, G, J, K-I, K-II, K-III, L, M and N and an LIG pocket, alongside a Federation of Sarita Vihar. In practice that means each pocket has its own gate rules, and the pocket letter matters more than the colony name when you give a tutor directions.
Green space is part of the colony's identity. In 2013 the Delhi government gave Sarita Vihar a "Greenest Colony in Delhi" tag, credited to the work of RWA members on parks and green spots. Indraprastha Apollo Hospital stands next to the Jasola Apollo metro station at the colony's northern end, and the DDA's Netaji Subhash Sports Complex is close by in Jasola Vihar.
Across Mathura Road lie the Okhla Industrial Area phases, and the Mohan Cooperative Industrial Estate runs parallel to the colony with offices, showrooms and eateries. With office and industrial belts this close, and the Kalindi Kunj bridge a short drive east, working parents in the same pocket can get home at very different hours, so fix the tuition slot around the later arrival.
Older DDA blocks are mostly reached by stairs, and flats tend to have a dining area that doubles as the study table. Larger cooperative flats often have a spare room. Pick one fixed spot with good light and no television nearby, and keep it the same every week, so your child settles faster when the tutor arrives.
News reports and property-portal write-ups about Sarita Vihar point to a few recurring themes. Each has a plain meaning for a weekly tuition plan.
Then come the usual questions: will the tutor keep the slot all year, do they know the board, and is the senior subject better at home or online? The sections below cover them for Sarita Vihar.
Sarita Vihar station sits in Pocket C. It is elevated and opened on 3 October 2010 with the first section of the Violet Line, and it was the line's southern end until the extension to Badarpur Border opened in January 2011. Jasola Apollo is one stop north and Mohan Estate one stop south.
Going north, the Violet Line runs through Jasola Apollo, Harkesh Nagar Okhla and Govindpuri to Kalkaji Mandir, where it meets the Magenta Line, then on through Nehru Place, Kailash Colony, Moolchand, Lajpat Nagar and Jangpura. A tutor living near any of these stops can ride straight in. Tutors from the Magenta Line side change at Kalkaji Mandir. If your pocket is nearer the northern end, Jasola Apollo, which links to the hospital by a foot-over-bridge, can be the shorter walk; tell the tutor which station to use.
By road, Mathura Road is the spine, with the Sarita Vihar flyover over it. GD Birla Marg leads east to the Kalindi Kunj bridge, and the Sarita Vihar underpass, built by the DDA and the Railways and opened in 2014, shortened the link towards Okhla. During the 2025 flyover repairs, traffic police advised drivers to use MB Road, Maa Anandmai Marg and Govindpuri instead, which shows how the detours run when Mathura Road is jammed.
The shortest trips come from Jasola, Madanpur Khadar and the Mohan Estate side. Tutors who drive from Kalkaji or Govindpuri should avoid the flyover at the peak, and for a specialist subject an online tutor saves the trip entirely.
Because each pocket has its own association, gate practice varies. Before the demo, tell your pocket's guard or RWA office that a tutor is coming, and send the tutor the pocket letter, block and flat number, for example a flat in Pocket J rather than just "Sarita Vihar". If your pocket has more than one entrance, say which one is open at lesson time.
Ask the RWA whether regular visitors can be noted once rather than at every visit. If the tutor drives, explain where a visitor can park inside the pocket, since lanes between older blocks are narrow; a tutor on a scooter or coming by metro avoids the question altogether.
Keep an adult at home during lessons and the door open for younger children. If you want a woman tutor, mention it in the request and we will look for a woman home tutor in Delhi who fits your class and timing. Every tutor who joins NXTutors goes through an ID check: a one-time code to confirm phone or email, then a government photo ID for our team to review; see our ID check explained. It is not a police check, so use the free demo to judge the person as well as the teaching.
Requests from Sarita Vihar are mainly for CBSE, with some for ICSE and ISC and a few for IB or Cambridge IGCSE. A CBSE tutor should work from NCERT and the sample papers on cbseacademic.nic.in. ICSE and ISC students should give the tutor the CISCE prescribed-text list, because literature and language texts change.
One local point: in an older DDA flat, a shared dining table is often the only desk, so set up a box for the board's past papers and the tutor's worksheets that comes out on lesson days. For the full comparison of boards, read which board suits your child, and for ICSE students see ICSE home tutors in Delhi.
Young learners do well with lessons of 45 minutes to an hour, several times a week. In a colony with this many parks, a slot just before evening play time usually gets the most focus. Ask the tutor to work from the school diary and to give a few minutes of reading at every lesson.
These middle years set the base for board classes. One tutor for Maths and Science together is a common choice, adding English or Hindi if school reports suggest it. Ask the tutor to mark the school notebook, not just the textbook exercises, so you see where marks are lost.
Board preparation starts in Class 9. Two or three longer lessons a week give space to teach and to practise answers against the clock. A science tutor who lives along the Violet Line can usually keep a fixed evening slot by metro; see home science tutors in Delhi for this stage.
Seniors usually have a separate tutor for each main subject, whether Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Accountancy or Economics. If JEE or NEET is in the plan, families often keep a home tutor for school work and add an online specialist for entrance practice. Our Class 12 home tuition in Delhi page sets out how that split usually works.
Board exams for most Sarita Vihar students fall early in the calendar year, and CBSE now gives Class 10 students a second sitting in May for improvement. ICSE and ISC dates are published on cisce.org, IB Diploma exams sit in May and November, and Cambridge IGCSE runs March, June and November series. Use only dates from the board's site, and agree with the tutor in good time when lessons turn to revision. If a flyover closure is announced in exam months, move those weeks online.
Home tuition keeps your child off Mathura Road altogether and lets you follow progress. With its own station and Jasola Apollo only one stop away, Sarita Vihar is easier for tutors to reach than many colonies of its size.
Online classes cut out the commute for both sides. They work well for exam weeks, flyover-repair weeks and specialist subjects, and online tuition for Delhi students is often the practical choice for senior IB or entrance work.
A coaching centre puts the travel on your child, usually by metro or across Mathura Road. Late batches mean a walk home from the station after dark in winter. Many families pair a home tutor for school subjects with one centre or online class for a specific goal.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, and you can compare them on the shortlist before the demo.
Class, board, subject, lesson length and the number of lessons each week move the fee most. Travel matters too: a tutor from Jasola or a neighbouring pocket has a short trip, while one driving down Mathura Road at the peak may ask for longer, less frequent lessons.
Before agreeing, multiply the hourly fee by lesson length and lessons per month, and ask how holidays, cancelled lessons and extra pre-exam classes are handled.
We could not source a public library inside Sarita Vihar, so we do not name one. The colony's pocket parks are good for a short break between study blocks, and the DDA's Netaji Subhash Sports Complex in Jasola Vihar is a place for exercise rather than study. For most students, a fixed, quiet corner at home is still the main study space.
The linked colonies all sit in the same zone; the zone guide compares them.

Physics for JEE can ask for more than school marks: problem practice, careful working and a tutor who can explain why a method fails. If your child in Sarita Vihar is preparing, or needs help with chemistry, English or IB and IGCSE subjects, give us the class and the board and we shortlist two or three tutors for you.
Sarita Vihar is part of the zone name Kalkaji, CR Park & Sarita Vihar, which has six pages on NXTutors, including Jasola Vihar, Alaknanda and Nehru Enclave. Tutors who live in Sarita Vihar, or are willing to travel to it, are listed first. Then come tutors from those pages and the rest of this zone, then any Delhi teacher, then NCR home tutors from Noida or Greater Noida, and online lessons last. Each card explains briefly why it is there.
Before booking, ask the tutor how they would combine school chapters with entrance-style questions, and how they review tests, since a long problem can go wrong at any step. The physics home tutors page has a wider set. You see each tutor's fee before the first class, and the opening class costs nothing, so your child can try the teaching before you decide anything.
