Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Rajinder Nagar was laid out in the 1950s, one of the colonies built for families arriving from Punjab after Partition. Shankar Road cuts it in two. Old Rajinder Nagar lies on the Karol Bagh side; New Rajinder Nagar lies on the other, running up to the Central Ridge Protected Forest. Wikipedia describes the wider colony as bounded by the Ridge to the east and south, the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (Pusa) to the west and Karol Bagh to the north, with Talkatora Stadium a short walk from the new side.
The new side is known for its greenery. Nehru Park is the central park, and OpenStreetMap marks several smaller ones through the blocks: R Block Park, Haathi Park, Sita Park, Sita Mata Park and Ambedkar Park. Inner lanes carry names such as Professor Ram Nath Vij Marg, Shuvam Road, Bhanumati Road, Chela Ram Road, Geeta Mandir Marg, Pamposh Road and Khanna Road, while Shankar Road Market sits on the main road for daily shopping.
Homes are a mix of builder floors and independent houses, according to property portal listings, and the rental listings span everything from a single bedroom to five. Listings describe buildings of about four storeys, often with a different household on each floor. Daily services are close: the Rajinder Nagar police station, the Rajinder Nagar post office and a CGHS wellness centre are all mapped in the colony, and a large hospital stands at the colony's edge.
There are no society gates or visitor apps here. A tutor walks or rides up to a building, finds the right floor and rings. That makes the first visit the only tricky one; after that, regular lessons are simple. A park on the doorstep also gives younger children a place to burn off energy before sitting down, which many tutors quietly use to their advantage by fixing a lesson right after playtime.
Rajinder Nagar is also one of Delhi's two well-known areas for civil services preparation, and that activity is concentrated on the Old Rajinder Nagar side of Shankar Road. For a school student in New Rajinder Nagar, the practical effect is mostly about traffic and footfall on the main road at certain hours, which the sections below cover.
Resident reviews on a property portal give a fair picture of daily life here. Each theme has a simple tuition meaning.
Beyond these, parents ask the same core questions everywhere: will the tutor hold a fixed weekly slot, do they understand how my child's board marks answers, and is a senior subject better taught at home or online. The rest of this guide answers them for New Rajinder Nagar.
Two Blue Line stations serve the colony. Rajendra Place is the stop most tutors use for the new side; Karol Bagh, one stop towards the city centre, suits homes nearer the Karol Bagh end of Shankar Road. Both stations are elevated and opened on 31 December 2005, when this stretch of the Blue Line started running. Rajendra Place has no car parking, so a tutor who drives to the station and then walks is not an option there.
Because the Blue Line runs from Dwarka in the west through the city centre to Noida and Vaishali, a tutor living anywhere along it can reach Rajendra Place without changing trains. That is useful when the right teacher for a senior subject lives some distance away.
By road, Shankar Road is the spine. Buses stop at Shankar Road Market, Sanatan Dharm Mandir and the fire station, so a tutor coming by bus can get off almost at the colony. Inside, the lanes branch off towards the Ridge. The ward map names Vandemataram Marg, also called Ridge Road, along the forest edge and Sri Ganga Ram Hospital Marg on the Old Rajinder Nagar side; Pusa Road runs a little to the north through Karol Bagh and East Patel Nagar.
The quickest trips usually come from the colonies around you: Old Rajinder Nagar across Shankar Road, Karol Bagh to the north and East Patel Nagar beyond Rajendra Place. We list tutors who teach in or travel to New Rajinder Nagar first, then others from the zone, then the rest of Delhi, then online teachers. When you send a request, mention your nearest landmark on Shankar Road, such as the market or the fire station, so tutors can judge the trip before they reply.
Most lessons here happen in a builder floor or a house, so the logistics are about finding the right door, not clearing a guard desk.
Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check, and the badge on a profile appears only after our team has reviewed that ID; read how we check tutors. This is not a police or background check, so meet the tutor in the free demo, ask about their teaching history, and decide for yourself. If you would rather have a woman tutor, say so in the request; you can also browse women home tutors in Delhi.
As in most of Delhi, CBSE is the board most families here follow, with some on ICSE/ISC and a few on IB or Cambridge IGCSE. For a home tutor, the board decides the marking style more than the topics: CBSE answers are judged against step-wise marking schemes, CISCE papers reward full written working and longer English answers, and IB and IGCSE bring their own internal assessments and command words.
If your child is on a less common board, say so up front so we match a tutor who has taught it, or suggest an online teacher. For a CBSE home tutor in Delhi the local choice is wide; IB or IGCSE specialists may need to travel further along the Blue Line. The side-by-side comparison of boards is in our guide CBSE vs ICSE vs IB vs IGCSE.
Short, regular sessions work at this age, and New Rajinder Nagar's parks help: a lesson fixed for the half hour after a child comes back from play tends to go better than one squeezed in before. A tutor should build reading habits, number sense and neat handwriting rather than racing through worksheets. See our primary tutors in Delhi.
This is where gaps appear in fractions, algebra basics and science vocabulary. One tutor covering maths and science together, twice or three times a week, is a common pattern. Ask the tutor in the demo how they find and fix a gap, not only how they teach the current chapter.
Board-year pressure starts in Class 9, because Class 10 builds directly on it. Families usually move from one all-round tutor to subject specialists here, especially for maths. A maths tutor in Delhi who has taught your board's paper pattern is worth the extra effort to find. Agree a plan for regular past-paper practice from the middle of Class 10.
Senior science and commerce subjects need specialists, and the right physics or accountancy teacher may live further along the Blue Line rather than next door. A two-hour weekend session at home plus a short online check-in midweek suits many senior students here. For physics, chemistry and maths, ask whether the tutor will also work on entrance-style problems if your child plans to sit JEE or NEET.
Some families combine a coaching programme with a home tutor who clears doubts and keeps school subjects on track. If that is your plan, tell us so the tutor works around the coaching timetable rather than duplicating it.
Winter is board-exam preparation time for Classes 10 and 12. CBSE now holds two Class 10 board examinations each year, the second optional for improving scores, so a tutor's plan may need to stretch past the first sitting (Class 10 home tutors in Delhi). In the run-up, many families add a weekend mock-paper session at home. Plan the extra slots early, because tutors' winter calendars fill, and keep the monsoon online fallback agreed in summer for the same reason: no lost weeks.
Home suits younger children, students who need someone to sit with them while they work, and any child whose concentration is better at their own desk. In a builder floor with a quiet room, home lessons are easy to arrange.
Online suits specialist subjects, IB or IGCSE teachers who live far away, and evenings when traffic or rain would make a trip unreliable. It also works for short midweek check-ins between home sessions. Browse online tutors in Delhi.
A coaching centre suits students who want a fixed group schedule and peer pace for an entrance exam. Rajinder Nagar's own coaching activity is aimed mainly at civil services candidates rather than school students, so a school-level programme may mean travel. Many families pair a centre with a home tutor for doubts and board revision.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Within that range, the fee depends on the class and board, the subject (senior physics or maths usually costs more than primary English), the tutor's experience, the length and number of sessions each week, and how far the tutor travels. A tutor who comes across the city by metro may quote a little more than one living a lane away, and an online session often costs less than a home visit with the same teacher.
The rate is the tutor's own decision, and it appears on your shortlist before the free demo. Ask what is included: homework checking, test papers, and whether a cancelled lesson is rescheduled.
For a change from home, the Delhi Public Library's Patel Nagar zonal library has a self-study room, on the upper floors at 9/11 East Patel Nagar, a short ride past Rajendra Place. OpenStreetMap also lists a reading library named Ahimsa Library in the colony; check its hours and rules before you go. Nehru Park is good for a walk between revision blocks, not for books.
