Kamla Nagar belongs to our Pitampura, Model Town and North Campus zone in Delhi. Its market is one of the city's big shopping streets and sits between homes and a large university campus. The trick to good tuition here is planning around the market's rhythm, and that is what this guide covers.

Kamla Nagar was developed in the 1950s on the land of the old village of Chandrawal. DLF laid it out and sold it as a residential colony of six blocks around three roundabouts, with apartment buildings and bungalows. Before that, the area had grown around the textile mills and the clock tower on the Grand Trunk Road, and it was once a stop on Delhi's old tram line. The clock tower still marks Kamla Nagar's southern edge.
Over the decades the colony's main streets turned into one of Delhi's major shopping areas. Most of the trade is on and around Bungalow Road, where booksellers and publishers keep offices, and on the roads spreading out from the large roundabout. Shops and restaurants fill the ground floors while the floors above are still homes. The municipal ward map also shows how close the neighbours are: Roop Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Jawahar Nagar and Rana Pratap Bagh all fall in or next to the Kamla Nagar ward.
For a family, this means two Kamla Nagars. One is the market, loud and crowded at certain hours. The other is the residential blocks a lane or two back, which are much quieter. A tutor's experience depends heavily on which of the two your home faces.
The public record on Kamla Nagar mostly concerns the market: its crowds, its sale seasons and its parking. Each point becomes simple timing advice.
Fees are shown on the shortlist before the demo, and a change of tutor later is free, which covers the rest of the worry for most families.
Vishwavidyalaya station on the Yellow Line, opened in December 2004, is about 1.5 km from Kamla Nagar. It sits on the university campus side, on the Mall Road and Chhatra Marg, and has four gates. The Yellow Line runs from Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Centre Gurugram, so a tutor living along most of North, Central or South Delhi can reach it on one train. From the station, an e-rickshaw to the nearest roundabout is the usual last leg.
Pul Bangash station on the Red Line, opened in October 2003, lies to the south-west, on the Old Delhi side near Subzi Mandi. It suits tutors coming from the Red Line corridor towards Rohini or Shahdara, and homes near Shakti Nagar and the clock tower. Wikipedia lists a future Magenta Line service through Pul Bangash and a station at Ghanta Ghar; until DMRC announces it open, plan on the routes that run today.
Subzi Mandi is the nearest railway station, and a number of DTC bus routes serve the area. The Grand Trunk Road forms the western edge. Inside the colony, the ward map names roads such as Kamla Nagar Marg, Roop Nagar Road, Malka Ganj Road and New Chandrawal Road. Drivers should avoid the market loop at its busiest.
We do not publish journey times, because market crowds change them so much. Ask each tutor which station they will use and when they plan to leave, and choose a slot that keeps them out of the evening rush around the roundabouts.
Kamla Nagar has no gated societies of the kind found in newer suburbs. A tutor comes straight to your door, whether that is a bungalow gate, an apartment stair or a flat above a shop. The first visit is easiest when the tutor knows exactly which door to use.
Before the demo, send your block, house number and floor, the nearest roundabout, and one landmark: the clock tower, a named shop row on Bungalow Road, or Roshanara Garden if you are near Shakti Nagar. If your stair starts beside a shop, say which shop. If a tutor will drive, tell them where visitors may park, since parking on the main roads around the market is restricted.
Choose a lesson room away from the market side of the house where you can, with a table, good light and a door that closes. Keep an adult at home while a younger child is being taught.
If you would like a woman tutor, say so in the request and we shortlist one where available; see female home tutors in Delhi. Everyone who joins NXTutors as a tutor goes through an ID check, in which a one-time code is followed by our team reviewing a government photo ID; the details are on our ID check page. It is not a police or background check, so judge the person as well as the lesson in the free demo.
Most Kamla Nagar requests are for CBSE, with some for ICSE or ISC and the odd IB or IGCSE learner. Older bungalows often have a room that can become a study room; in a flat above the market, a quiet corner and one shelf for the board's books does the same job. A CBSE home tutor in Delhi should work from the NCERT books and the papers on cbseacademic.nic.in; an ICSE or ISC tutor from the CISCE prescribed texts.
The bookshops on Bungalow Road make it easy to buy extra guides. Ask the tutor before you do: one good book used fully beats five half-read ones. For the full board comparison, see which board suits your child.
Little children do well with short, regular sessions in a familiar corner. In Kamla Nagar, choose a weekday afternoon or a Monday, when the market is shut and the street is quieter. Reading, letter formation, counting and early word problems are the work at this stage.
Middle-school years are when steady habits form. Many families begin with one tutor for Maths and Science and add English if answers are short. A tutor who looks at the school notebook each week keeps lessons in step with the classroom.
The board-exam band is where home tuition pays off most. Two or three lessons a week, with one new topic and a short timed test each time, is a common plan. Because the February–March sale season overlaps the board months, fix those lessons early in the term and keep an online fallback. Our Class 9 home tutors in Delhi page covers the start of this stretch.
Seniors usually need a subject specialist: Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology, or Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies for commerce. With both the Yellow and Red lines nearby, specialists from quite far away can come for one lesson a week, with online sessions in between. For a commerce or science student who needs more English writing practice, an English home tutor in Delhi can be added for a term.
Board exams fall in the early months of the year; take the dates only from cbse.gov.in, cisce.org, ibo.org or cambridgeinternational.org.
In Kamla Nagar, the board months coincide with the February–March sale period, when the market is at its most crowded. Move the key revision lessons to Mondays, when the market is closed, or to morning slots at weekends. Agree with the tutor in January which lessons will switch to online if the roads around the roundabouts are jammed.
A home tutor keeps your child away from the market crowd and gives a parent a view of the lesson. For primary children and board-year students, it is the calmest option in Kamla Nagar.
Online lessons help on sale-season evenings, for late slots and for specialist subjects. They also keep a good tutor who lives far along another metro line.
A group class is easy to find in and around Kamla Nagar, but many local classes are aimed at older students. A group suits a school child only if it follows the school board and the child learns well alongside others. Otherwise, one home tutor for the hardest subject, plus an online specialist for anything else, is usually the better mix.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Tutors set their own rates, and you see each one on the shortlist before the demo. What moves a fee in Kamla Nagar: the class and board, single or multiple subjects with one tutor, the number and length of weekly lessons, any entrance-test practice, and the tutor's travel. A tutor arriving by metro to Vishwavidyalaya or Pul Bangash and taking an e-rickshaw has a simpler trip than one hunting for a parking spot near the market, and online lessons take travel out of the price.
Roshanara Garden, a seventeenth-century Mughal garden of about 57 acres in Shakti Nagar, run by the municipal corporation, is the nearest large green space; its lake draws migratory birds in winter. To the east, the Kamla Nehru Ridge forest, declared a reserved forest in 1915, holds the Flagstaff Tower, the Mutiny Memorial and an Ashokan pillar. Both are for a walk or a weekend break, not for lessons.

Science often feels like three subjects at once by Class 9, with physics, chemistry and biology each moving at its own pace. If that is where your Kamla Nagar child needs support, tell us which branch causes the most trouble. Two or three matched tutors will follow, and you can try the first class with any of them for free.
You may want a single tutor for all of science, or perhaps a specialist for each branch. Both are possible through one request. For older students, the Delhi Chemistry home tutors and Biology home tutors pages show more people who teach those subjects in particular. Share the school books in use and the chapters already finished, so the tutor can plan around them.
Kamla Nagar shares the Pitampura, Model Town & North Campus zone with ten other pages, among them Adarsh Nagar, Civil Lines and Model Town. You are free to look at those pages as well and ask any tutor you like whether they can reach you. Fees vary by tutor and are shown to you before the demo, and you can switch to someone else later without paying extra.
