Home Tuition in Rohini and North Delhi: A Sector and Station Guide

By NXTutors Academic Team 8 min read

In Rohini the sector and pocket number matter more than the name, because a home tutor's route depends on which metro line is closest: the Red Line through the southern sectors, the Yellow Line on the northern side, or the Magenta Line stations that opened on the Outer Ring Road in March 2026. In Pitampura, Model Town and the colonies around North Campus, most homes are builder floors and houses, so the tutor usually comes straight to the door, and the question is simply which station and which slot.

This guide covers two zones: Rohini, and Pitampura, Model Town and North Campus. It groups the sectors and colonies by the station that serves them, explains the gate and doorstep routine, and sets out when to time a weekday class.

How do the two zones fit together?

Rohini was developed as a sub-city project of the Delhi Development Authority, started in the 1980s to house a mix of income groups, and Pitampura was developed by the DDA in the same decade. The Red Line was extended from Inderlok to Rithala on 31 March 2004, and Rithala, the stations formerly called Rohini West and Rohini East, and Pitampura (now Madhuban Chowk) opened then, along with Kohat Enclave, Netaji Subhash Place and Keshav Puram.

One 2026 change to note: news reports said the Red Line station at the Sector 8/14 edge, Rohini East, was approved to be renamed Rohini, so signage may show either name.

Rohini: sector by sector

Across Rohini, homes are DDA flats in LIG, MIG and HIG categories, cooperative group housing societies, and plotted pockets with builder floors. Societies usually register visitors at the gate, so share the tower and flat number in advance; DDA pockets and builder floors are generally a doorstep visit. Give the pocket and block together, since similar block names repeat across the sub-city.

The Outer Ring Road side

  • Sector 3: a large sector, in pockets 3A to 3G, so give the pocket letter. Deepali Chowk metro station stands on the Outer Ring Road at the Sector 3/8 corner of Rohini, beside Pitampura.
  • Sector 8: mostly DDA flats, with three stations close by: Rohini at the Sector 8/14 edge, Madhuban Chowk, which is a Red and Magenta interchange, and Deepali Chowk.
  • Sector 7 and Sector 9: in the older, southern part of Rohini, served by the Rohini West and Rohini East stations. Sector 9's societies ask for the tutor's name at the gate; Sector 7's DDA pockets are generally open.
  • Sector 5: Rithala, the Red Line terminus, is inside the sector, so metro-based tutors are practical. Builder floors may need a parent to open the ground-floor gate.

Between the Red and Yellow Lines

  • Sector 11, Sector 13 and Sector 16: the nearest station changes from one end of the sector to the other, Rithala or the Red Line on one side, Rohini Sector 18, 19 or Samaypur Badli on the other. Tell the tutor your exact pocket so they can plan the metro leg and an e-rickshaw.
  • Sector 15: mostly DDA flats, closest to Rohini Sector 18, 19 on the Yellow Line, which makes it easy for tutors coming from Model Town and the North Campus side.
  • Sector 24: an outer sector of pockets with gated entries. Rithala is the usual station, with the rest by road, so a fixed weekly slot helps the tutor plan.

Pitampura, Model Town and North Campus

Pitampura's TV Tower dates from 1988 and Dilli Haat Pitampura opened in April 2008. Model Town was built in the early 1950s as one of Delhi's first privately developed neighbourhoods and is divided into Model Town I, II and III, with Naini Lake in Model Town I. Uttari Pitampura-Prashant Vihar station on the Outer Ring Road opened on 8 March 2026 as part of the Magenta Line's Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park stretch.

Pitampura and the Outer Ring Road colonies

  • Pitampura: DDA flats and towers, enclaves of houses and builder floors, and apartment societies, with Madhuban Chowk, Kohat Enclave and Netaji Subhash Place stations. DDA towers and societies may log visitors at the gate.
  • Kohat Enclave: has a Red Line station of its own, so a tutor can walk from the platform to most houses.
  • Prashant Vihar: mostly builder floors, and now served by the Uttari Pitampura-Prashant Vihar station, which makes it easier for tutors coming from Rohini, Pitampura or Majlis Park.
  • Shalimar Bagh and Ashok Vihar: Shalimar Bagh is laid out in lettered blocks with a Pink Line station; Ashok Vihar is divided into four phases, served by Keshav Puram on the Red Line and Shalimar Bagh on the Pink Line. Share the block or phase with the house number.

Model Town and the North Campus side

  • Model Town and Adarsh Nagar: mostly independent floors and houses, so the tutor comes to the door. Model Town and Adarsh Nagar stations on the Yellow Line bring tutors from North Campus, Civil Lines and Rohini.
  • GTB Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar: busy student localities beside North Campus, with GTB Nagar station within walking distance of most homes. Mukherjee Nagar is a hub for civil-services exam preparation, so main roads are crowded with students in the evening; give the tutor your block and the easiest lane.
  • Kamla Nagar and Civil Lines: Kamla Nagar's market draws evening crowds, so inner-lane homes are easier to reach on foot from Vishwavidyalaya station, or with an afternoon slot. Civil Lines has its own Yellow Line station, and its bungalows often have a gatekeeper who should know the tutor's name.

When should a weekday class start?

  1. Soon after school. The Outer Ring Road, the Ring Road and the chowks around Netaji Subhash Place are busiest at office hours, so an early slot is the most likely to start on time.
  2. After the rush, near a station. With a station close by, as in Sectors 5 and 8, Kohat Enclave or Model Town, a tutor who comes by metro can manage a later evening slot.
  3. Weekend mornings for longer sessions such as revision before tests.

Frequently asked questions

Which metro station is nearest to my Rohini sector?

The nearest metro station to your Rohini sector depends on the pocket, because the Red, Yellow and Magenta Lines each serve different sectors. The Red Line runs from Rithala past Rohini West and Rohini East; the Yellow Line has Rohini Sector 18, 19 and Samaypur Badli; and the Magenta Line adds Deepali Chowk and Madhuban Chowk.

Was Rohini East metro station renamed?

News reports in May 2026 said Rohini East station on the Red Line, at the Sector 8/14 edge, was approved to be renamed Rohini. When you share directions with a tutor, mention both names and your sector, so the tutor gets off at the right station and does not search for an old name.

Do tutors need a gate pass in Rohini?

Tutors usually need a gate entry in Rohini's cooperative group housing societies, where the guard asks for the tutor's name and flat number. Tell the gate before the free demo class. DDA pockets and builder floors are generally a doorstep visit, though a parent may need to open the ground-floor gate for an upper floor.

When is the easiest time for a home class in Pitampura or Model Town?

The easiest time for a home class in Pitampura or Model Town is a slot soon after school, before the evening rush on the Ring Roads. Weekend mornings suit longer sessions. Near Kohat Enclave, Model Town or the new Uttari Pitampura-Prashant Vihar station, a tutor who comes by metro can also manage a later slot.

How much does home tuition cost in Rohini and North Delhi?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor in Rohini and North Delhi sets their own fee, which you see before the free demo.

How should we give our Rohini address to a new tutor?

Give a new tutor your Rohini sector, pocket and block together, because similar block names repeat across the sub-city. In Sector 3, add the pocket letter from 3A to 3G. In a society, share the tower and flat number with the gate in advance; for a builder floor, say which floor and whether someone must open the ground-floor gate.

Can a tutor from the North Campus side teach in Rohini?

Yes, a tutor from the North Campus side can teach in Rohini, most easily in Sector 15, which is closest to Rohini Sector 18, 19 on the Yellow Line. Model Town and Adarsh Nagar stations on the same line also bring tutors from North Campus and Civil Lines. Share your exact pocket so the tutor can plan the metro leg and an e-rickshaw.
