Asansol Home Tuition Guide: Court More, Ushagram, Railpar, Burnpur, Kulti and Raniganj
Asansol stands on the lower Chota Nagpur Plateau between the Damodar and the Ajay rivers, and since a 2015 notification the old municipal towns of Kulti, Raniganj and Jamuria have been part of the same corporation. That makes it a city with several centres rather than one. For home tuition we group its homes into six zones: the Court More belt in the middle, the Ushagram side along the Grand Trunk Road, the northern wards of Railpar, Dhadka and Kalla, Burnpur and Rabindra Nagar in the south-west, the western belt from Kulti to Barakar, and Raniganj with Jamuria. This guide takes all twenty localities one at a time, with the details a tutor needs to reach each home on the first evening.
Reference points tutors use across Asansol
Whether a tutor comes by two-wheeler, bus or auto, a reference point everyone knows is worth more than a long postal address. Asansol Junction is the city's main station on Eastern Railway. Kalipahari is the next station towards Howrah, Burnpur has its own station, and Sitarampur Junction is where the Howrah–Delhi route divides into the Main line and the Grand Chord. The Grand Trunk Road runs through the western belt to Barakar, National Highway 19 passes through Jamuria, and the highway bypass skirts Ushagram, Murgasol and Chelidanga.
| Zone | Reference point to mention | What to add after it |
|---|---|---|
| Court More & Central Asansol | The Court More crossing; the road towards Chittaranjan | Which road you live on and the corner you are nearest to |
| Ushagram & GT Road East | The Grand Trunk Road; Kalipahari station | The crossing where the tutor turns off, then the block or lane |
| Railpar, Dhadka & Kalla | Ward numbers and para names | The lane, a nearby shop sign and the house number |
| Burnpur & Rabindra Nagar | Burnpur station; Tribeni More | The road or block, and which part of Burnpur you mean |
| Kulti, Neamatpur & Barakar | The Grand Trunk Road; Kulti station; Sitarampur Junction | Which side of the main road, then the ward or inner locality |
| Raniganj & Jamuria | Raniganj station; National Highway 19 at Jamuria | The ward or pocket name before the house number |
Court More & Central Asansol
The middle of the city is compact. Its four localities sit close enough that a tutor based in one can often teach in another on the same evening, which gives families here a wide choice of nearby teachers.
Court More: Ward 52 of the corporation, under Asansol South police station, with Hillview, Kumarpur, Shristinagar and Rabindra Nagar listed as its neighbours. Several roads meet here, so name the road you live on and the corner you are nearest to before the house number.
Kanyapur: Ward 20, on the Asansol North side, between Court More and the Kalyanpur Housing Estate wards. Tell the tutor which end you are nearer, Court More or Kalyanpur, because that one detail decides the route.
Hutton Road: Ward 46, close to Murgasol and SB Gorai Road. Many lanes branch off the same road and look alike, so lead with the lane you turn into, add a nameplate or gate colour, and send a map pin the day before the demo.
Chelidanga: Wards 49 and 50, including Hill View Park, with Dhurup Dangal close by and the Asansol–Chittaranjan road near the locality. Say which side you are on, Hill View Park or Dhurup Dangal, and the tutor will find the right turning.
Ushagram & GT Road East
East of the centre, the Grand Trunk Road is the main reference for directions, and the highway bypass runs along this side too. Tutors come in from the centre and from the Kalipahari side, so evening slots are usually easy to arrange once the address is precise.
Ushagram: a large locality spread across Wards 38, 39 and 40 under Asansol North police station. Because it is big, the area name is not enough: start with the block or inner road, then the nearest crossing on the Grand Trunk Road.
Murgasol: listed beside Ushagram and Hutton Road, close to the Grand Trunk Road. Give the lane you turn into from the main road and, for a flat, the building name and floor. A shop sign at the turning saves the tutor a phone call.
Ismile: Ward 84, spelt Ismail in the ward list, with Mohisila Colony on either side and RK Roy Road among its nearby pockets. Write both spellings in your request, and mention Mohisila Colony if neighbours use that name for your streets.
Railpar, Dhadka & Kalla
The northern belt is mostly residential, and its localities border one another, so a single pool of tutors serves all three.
Railpar: the largest locality in the north, covering Wards 26 to 31, with one of the corporation's borough offices named after it. Give the ward number and para name with the house number, since many tutors already live somewhere inside Railpar.
Dhadka: Ward 13, next to Railpar, with South Dhadka listed as a separate neighbour. The two names are easy to confuse, so say clearly which one you mean, then the lane and house number.
Kalla: Ward 15, with Majiara in Ward 14 between it and Dhadka. Mention whether Majiara or Dhadka is your nearer side so the tutor can choose the shorter route, and keep your phone handy for the last turn.
Burnpur & Rabindra Nagar
The south-western side combines an older neighbourhood with its own railway station, a ward that links it to the centre, and a locality at the city's edge. Hirapur police station covers much of this zone, and the borough office is at Tribeni More.
Burnpur: a wide neighbourhood served by Burnpur station, first named Narsinghbandh, with Riverside Road among its nearby pockets. Give the road or block name and say which part of Burnpur you are in; a map pin helps a tutor who knows only the station.
Rabindra Nagar: Ward 56, sometimes written as one word, Rabindranagar, with Court More listed as its nearest neighbour. Tutors can reach it from the centre and from Burnpur, so say which side you are nearer.
Dihika: part of Ward 98 with Dharampur and Suryanagar, at the edge of the city beyond Burnpur. Include whichever of those names your address uses, describe the route from Burnpur, and consider a flexible slot or an online class for a specialist subject.
Kulti, Neamatpur & Barakar
The western belt was its own municipality, Kulti, until 2015. The Grand Trunk Road ties it together, and each locality is fairly large, so tutors who already live inside the belt are usually the practical choice for a weekly class.
Kulti: a spread-out town with its own station on the line that reached Barakar in 1871, linked by road with central Asansol, Barakar and Chittaranjan. Name the ward or inner locality first, then a landmark on the main road where the tutor should turn.
Neamatpur: stretched along the Grand Trunk Road, with Sitarampur Junction as its nearest station and minibuses to central Asansol, Barakar, Chittaranjan and Dishergarh. Say which side of the main road you live on before anything else.
Sitarampur: home to Sitarampur Junction, where the Main line and the Grand Chord part ways, right beside Neamatpur. Give the lane and house number and say whether you are nearer Neamatpur or Kulti; a pin sent the evening before helps on a busy stretch.
Barakar: on the Barakar river at the border with Jharkhand, with the Grand Trunk Road passing through and four wards inside it. Give the ward number, and if your child has moved from a Jharkhand school, mention the earlier board in your request.
Raniganj & Jamuria
On the eastern side, two former municipalities joined the corporation in 2015. The railway from Howrah reached Raniganj by 1855, and local buses run between Jamuria, Raniganj and central Asansol, so tutors from either town can often reach the other.
Raniganj: the town covers Wards 88 to 93, and its station is on the Bardhaman–Asansol section. Give the ward or para name first, then a landmark on the main road, and say where a two-wheeler can stop if your lane is narrow.
Searsole: Wards 33, 34 and 36, beside Raniganj town and under the same police station. Write Searsole with the ward number and mention Raniganj as well for a tutor who is new to this side.
Jamuria: a wide area of thirteen wards with pockets such as Jamuria Hat, Nandi and Sripur, crossed by National Highway 19. Start the address with your pocket, then say where to turn off the highway.
Boards and class stages in Asansol
Families in Asansol follow the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (Madhyamik, Class 10), the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (Classes 11 and 12, now run in semesters), CBSE, or the CISCE's ICSE and ISC. Each board's own website is the only place for its dates: wbbse.wb.gov.in and wbchse.wb.gov.in for the state boards.
- Board pages: West Bengal Board tutors, CBSE tutors and ICSE and ISC tutors in Asansol.
- Subject pages: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.
- Entrance help beside Higher Secondary: JEE and NEET home tutors in Asansol.
When you ask for a tutor, mention the medium your child writes exams in, Bengali, Hindi or English, as well as the board. For a Higher Secondary student, list the subjects of the current semester so the tutor plans for that term, not the whole course at once. If you are weighing a choice of board or an entrance plan, our Kolkata guides on choosing between WBBSE, CBSE and ICSE and a WBJEE preparation plan may also help families in Asansol.
Home, online or a mix
Young children, and older students who focus better with an adult beside them, usually do well with a tutor at the table. An online class suits a specialist who lives across the city, a late slot after a long school day, or a subject such as English for a science student. In Dihika, Barakar and the far pockets of Jamuria, many families keep a nearby home tutor for one subject and add an online tutor for Asansol students for another.
For what a quote should cover, read home tuition fees in Asansol, and for the wider trade-offs, home tutor or online tutor. Families elsewhere in West Bengal can start from home tutors in Durgapur or home tutors in Kolkata.
How NXTutors can help
Share the class, board, exam medium, subjects and the locality you live in, from Court More to Jamuria. We come back with two or three matched tutors, starting with those living nearest, then widening to your zone and the rest of Asansol, and adding online tutors from other states when a subject calls for it. Fees are visible on the shortlist ahead of the demo, the first class with each tutor costs nothing, and changing tutor at a later stage is free too. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete, as described on how we check tutors.

Frequently asked questions
Which parts of Asansol does this home tuition guide cover?
This guide covers twenty Asansol localities grouped into six zones, from Court More and Ushagram to Railpar, Burnpur, Kulti and Raniganj. Each locality links to its own page with tutors we can suggest there. The zones follow the way the city is usually described: the centre, the Grand Trunk Road side, the north, the south-west, the western belt and the east.
What reference point should we give a tutor in Asansol?
Give a tutor in Asansol one reference point everyone knows, such as Court More, the Grand Trunk Road, Burnpur station or Sitarampur Junction. Then add the ward number or para name, the lane and the house number. In large localities like Railpar, Ushagram or Jamuria, a map pin sent the day before the demo saves the tutor a long search.
Can NXTutors find a West Bengal Board tutor in Asansol?
Yes, NXTutors can find a West Bengal Board tutor in Asansol when you mention Madhyamik or Higher Secondary, the class and the medium. We shortlist tutors who teach that board, nearest first. If no suitable home tutor lives close by, we suggest online tutors who know the state syllabus, so lessons still follow your child's textbooks and exam language.
What if no home tutor lives near us in Barakar or Jamuria?
When no home tutor lives close to you in Barakar or Jamuria, NXTutors searches outward in rings. We check your own zone, then other parts of Asansol, then online tutors in other states. A common answer is a nearby teacher for one subject plus an online specialist for a second. The opening class with every tutor you meet stays a free demo.
Should a Higher Secondary student in Asansol choose a home or online tutor?
A Higher Secondary student in Asansol can choose either, and the subject usually decides. A home tutor helps with written practice and numericals at the table, while an online tutor widens the choice for a specialist subject or a late slot. List the current semester's subjects in your request so each tutor plans for that term.
How does NXTutors check the tutors it suggests in Asansol?
Every tutor in Asansol who joins NXTutors goes through an ID check, and the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete. You get two or three matched tutors for each request, with their fees in view before any demo. That opening class costs nothing with each tutor, and you can change tutor later without paying for the switch.
