Chemistry home tutor in Asansol: the same subject, three different syllabi, one calm weekly session

Chemistry is where Asansol's senior students most often discover that two syllabi are not the same. A topic the Higher Secondary Council examines in its autumn semester may be missing from the CBSE board paper, while an entrance test may still ask about something a board has dropped. A home chemistry tutor can pull the threads together: what was taught this week, what was understood, and how each paper wants it written. Our shortlist for you has two or three chemistry tutors who know your child's syllabus and can reach your neighbourhood, each with a fee, and your opening session is a free demo.

How large is chemistry in each paper your child will sit?

A Class 12 student may be writing a board or semester paper and an entrance test in the same year. Each treats chemistry differently:

Chemistry in the papers Asansol's Class 12 students take: its size, its form and what scores
PaperChemistry in itWhat scores
WBCHSE Higher Secondary chemistry70 theory marks each class: a 35-mark multiple-choice semester, then a 35-mark written one; practical separatelyQuick, exact recognition in the autumn; full equations and reasons in the spring
CBSE Class 12 chemistry (043)Theory worth 70 (33 questions, all compulsory) and practical worth 30Reasons in words, balanced equations, clean numericals
NEET (UG), 2026 pattern45 of 180 questions, worth 180 of 720 marks, on paperFast recall of NCERT statements
JEE Main, Paper 1 as set in 2026One-third of the 75 questions, 20 with options and 5 asking for a numberReaction mechanisms; physical chemistry problems with several steps

Both NTA tests in 2026 gave +4 for a right response and −1 for a wrong one; the pattern is confirmed afresh each year in NTA's bulletin. WBJEE has its own conducting board and its own notices. For priorities, see the NEET chemistry chapters that matter, our physical, organic and inorganic JEE chemistry guide and the page for a NEET chemistry tutor; for all three NEET subjects, see NEET home tutors in Asansol.

What does the Higher Secondary Council set in Class 12 chemistry?

On the state syllabus, chemistry is examined in two halves each year. In Class 12, Semester III is conducted by the Council at exam centres and is wholly multiple choice; Semester IV, also the Council's, asks for short and descriptive answers. No calculator is permitted in either. The Council's 2026 question-pattern file gives Semester III this shape:

  • Liquid state, 8 marks. Not part of the CBSE Class 12 course, so follow the state textbook closely and learn its definitions word for word.
  • p-block elements, 8 marks. Trends and the reason behind each, learned as short sentences that can be recalled under time pressure.
  • Haloalkanes and haloarenes; alcohols, phenols and ethers, 5 marks each. Reagents, products and named reactions, practised as one-line conversions.
  • Biomolecules, 5 marks. Carbohydrates, proteins and nucleic acids, with the textbook's exact definitions.
  • Polymers, 4 marks. Monomers, types of polymerisation and common examples.

Theory and practical are passed separately, and Class 12 practicals are held at the student's own school before Semester IV. Read each notice on wbchse.wb.gov.in, and see our West Bengal board tutors in Asansol page for the other Higher Secondary subjects.

How does CBSE divide its 70 Class 12 chemistry marks?

CBSE fixes marks chapter by chapter, which lets a tutor plan the year almost like a household budget. The 2026-27 design is the same as last year's; here are its ten theory chapters, smallest first within each branch:

CBSE Class 12 chemistry, 2026-27: the three branches, the chapter marks inside each, and the practice that pays
BranchChapters (marks)Practice that pays
Organic, 33 in allAmines 6, the alcohol–phenol–ether chapter 6, the halogen-compound chapter 6, biomolecules 7, the carbonyl and carboxylic acid chapter 8Conversion chains written out, named reactions, tests that tell compounds apart
Physical, 23 in allKinetics 7, solutions 7, electrochemistry 9A unit beside every number; rate laws and half-life
Inorganic, 14 in allCoordination compounds 7, the d- and f-block 7One clear reason per trend; names and isomers

Five lettered sections make up the paper, a few questions offer an internal choice, and the student may use neither a calculator nor log tables. Roughly two marks in five reward recall and understanding, and the remainder want application, analysis or evaluation. For chapter-level help, read our guide to Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry; the Class 12 chemistry tutor page explains how we plan for the board.

Where do the state, CBSE and entrance syllabi part ways?

Compare the two lists above and the differences are plain. The p-block elements and polymers both appear in the Council's Semester III, yet CBSE has removed the Group 15 to 18 p-block chapter from its 2026-27 Class 12 course and treats polymers as a topic marked only in school, as it does surface chemistry, everyday-life chemistry and the way elements are isolated. CBSE has also dropped the solid state. The liquid state, on the other hand, carries marks in the Council's paper.

Two practical lessons follow. A student who moves between boards, or who studies from a cousin's notes, must check the current syllabus of their own board before skipping anything. And for entrance tests, NTA publishes its syllabus separately; a topic dropped by a board can still be asked there, so check the official bulletin before crossing it off.

What does a good week with a home chemistry tutor look like?

A home lesson should run one step behind the school or class chapter, never ahead of it. A four-part hour suits many students:

  1. Talk it through. Without notes, the student explains the main ideas from this week's chapter; gaps show at once.
  2. One numerical, slowly. A single problem from the physical branch is solved while the tutor follows every line; lost marks there are nearly always a unit or an exponent, seldom the formula itself.
  3. Redraw the reaction map. A single sheet linking haloalkanes, alcohols, carbonyl compounds, acids and amines is drawn from memory and checked against the textbook.
  4. Finish with exam writing. On the state syllabus, a timed set of one-mark questions before Semester III, or two "give reasons" answers before Semester IV; on CBSE, two short written answers marked before the tutor leaves.

For inorganic chemistry, short textbook quizzes with the reason behind each trend work well; NEET rewards the exact NCERT line.

How much of the chemistry practical can be prepared at home?

A surprising amount. CBSE's 30 marks are split as 16 for volumetric and salt analysis together (8 each), 6 for an experiment from the theory syllabus, 4 for the project, and 4 for the record and viva combined. This session's titration uses potassium permanganate against oxalic acid or Mohr's salt, and each student weighs and makes up the standard solution personally. On the state syllabus, the Class 12 practical is held at school before Semester IV, passed separately from theory, and done without a calculator.

Away from the glassware, a tutor can rehearse the molarity sum, a tidy burette table, the order of salt analysis, and viva favourites such as why permanganate needs no separate indicator.

How does your neighbourhood affect an evening chemistry lesson in Asansol?

Six neighbourhoods across central, eastern and northern Asansol show what to arrange. Every locality is listed on our Asansol page.

  • Court More. Several roads meet here, so tell the tutor which one you live on and which corner is nearest, then add a shop sign. After-school slots fill first; ask about an early or weekend lesson if that suits your child.
  • Murgasol. Between the centre and the eastern side, close to GT Road. Name the lane you turn into from the main road and the floor of your flat. If a coaching class already covers some chapters, list the ones the tutor should take.
  • Ismile. Spelt Ismail in the ward list, between the two parts of Mohisila Colony. Say which medium your child uses, since a tutor explaining in the textbook's language saves confusion before exams.
  • Railpar. A large northern area over several wards; give the ward number and para name as well as the house number, so the first visit is not spent searching.
  • Kalla. On the north-western side beside Majiara and Dhadka. Families here often look for chemistry and biology together for Classes 11 and 12; say if your child is aiming at NEET.
  • Chelidanga. South Asansol over two wards, including Hill View Park. Mention which side you are on, and keep two or three fixed evenings rather than short daily visits.

Close to a semester exam, moving one visit a week online keeps the plan intact if an evening becomes hard. The Ushagram and GT Road East and Railpar, Dhadka and Kalla zone pages have more local tips.

ISC, IB or IGCSE chemistry: what should you look for?

ISC
The theory paper sits beside assessed practical and project work, and CISCE examiners reward reasoning that goes past a one-line reply.
IB Diploma
Offered at SL and HL and built on two themes, structure and reactivity. The internal investigation belongs to the student alone, so a tutor's part is limited to asking questions.
Cambridge IGCSE
Entries are at Core or Extended level; our Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE comparison explains how the two boards differ.

Tutors for these courses are fewer locally, so name the course at the start. A workable split is an online specialist for the syllabus and someone from your area to check homework on paper.

Why is Class 11 the year to put chemistry right?

Almost everything in Class 12 chemistry leans on Class 11. Moles, equilibrium and the opening organic chapters resurface in every solutions sum, every cell question and every conversion, so a gap left in Class 11 shows up a year later in semester papers, board answers and entrance scores. Fixing it early takes one term; fixing it in Class 12 takes far longer. Read about a Class 11 chemistry tutor, or see how we match nationally on the chemistry home tutor page.

What does a chemistry home tutor in Asansol charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors name their own rates. Ask each one which syllabus they have taught this year, how they would divide time between board or semester work and entrance practice, and whether a screen lesson could take the place of a visit when exams crowd the calendar. Every fee is on view before the demo, and the Asansol home tuition fees guide adds more to ask.

What should a chemistry request to us include?

Send the class, the board and semester, the exam your child is working towards, the branch that loses most marks, any coaching days, your neighbourhood with a landmark, and the free evenings. We reply with two or three chemistry tutors and their fees, and you pick one for the free demo. A poor match simply leads to the next demo, and a change of tutor later on is also free. Where no suitable tutor can travel to you, we propose lessons that are partly or wholly online. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). Chemistry Home Tutor in Asansol: common questions

What is the fee for a chemistry home tutor in Asansol for Class 11 or 12?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Chemistry tutors in Asansol name their own rates. Ask how each would divide time between semester or board work and entrance practice.

What should I send NXTutors to get a chemistry tutor shortlist in Asansol?

Send the class, board and semester, the exam your child is working towards, and the branch that loses most marks. Add any coaching days, your neighbourhood with a landmark and the free evenings. We reply with two or three chemistry tutors and their fees, and you pick one for a free demo. Switching tutor later is free.

Which chemistry topics are tested in WBCHSE Class 12 Semester III?

Six topics share the 35 marks of the multiple-choice Semester III chemistry paper. Liquid state and p-block elements carry 8 marks each; haloalkanes and haloarenes, alcohols, phenols and ethers, and biomolecules carry 5 each; and polymers carry 4. Each question is worth one mark, and no calculator is allowed in any semester exam.

Do p-block elements still matter for an Asansol student if CBSE has dropped them?

They matter for state-syllabus students and possibly for entrance tests. CBSE has removed the Group 15 to 18 p-block chapter from its 2026-27 Class 12 course, but the Higher Secondary Council examines p-block elements in Semester III, and NTA sets its own entrance syllabus. Check your own board and the current NTA bulletin before skipping anything.

How does CBSE split the 70 theory marks in Class 12 chemistry?

CBSE splits the 70 theory marks across three branches in 2026-27. Organic chemistry carries 33 over five chapters, physical chemistry 23 over three, and inorganic chemistry 14 over two. The paper has 33 compulsory questions in five sections, and neither calculators nor log tables are allowed, so a tutor should drill hand arithmetic.

How much of the 30-mark CBSE chemistry practical can be prepared at home?

A tutor can prepare much of the CBSE chemistry practical away from the lab. Volumetric and salt analysis together carry 16 marks, an experiment 6, the project 4, and record and viva 4. At home a tutor can rehearse the molarity calculation, the burette table, the salt-analysis sequence and common viva questions.

What does a useful weekly session with a chemistry home tutor include?

A useful weekly session follows the school or class chapter rather than racing ahead. The student first explains the week's ideas without notes, then solves one physical-chemistry numerical slowly, redraws the organic reaction map from memory, and ends with exam writing: a timed objective set before Semester III, or two "give reasons" answers before written papers.

Why is Class 11 the time for an Asansol student to repair chemistry basics?

Class 11 gaps should be fixed early because Class 12 chemistry is built on them. The mole concept, equilibrium and the first organic chapters return in solutions, electrochemistry and every conversion question, so a weak spot shows up a year later in semester, board and entrance papers alike. One term of repair in Class 11 is far easier.

How should I describe my address to a chemistry tutor in Murgasol or Railpar?

Give the detail a newcomer needs to find your door on the first evening. In Murgasol, name the lane you turn into from GT Road and the floor if you live in a flat. In Railpar, which covers several wards, add the ward number and para name to the house number so the first visit is not spent searching.
