What home tuition costs in Asansol

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

ICSE and ISC home tutors in Asansol: written answers that score, three sciences, electives chosen early

In Asansol the state boards set the tone, so an ICSE family can find that neighbours, relatives and even some tutors know Madhyamik far better than the council's papers. CISCE asks for something different: long written answers in English in almost every subject, Class 10 science as three separate papers, internal work that counts, and in the ISC years compulsory practicals and projects with elective choices that lock early. This page sets out how the CISCE route is built, where a tutor changes marks, how to keep ISC science in step with entrance work, how tutors reach six localities, and what to test in the free demo. Three of our teachers contributed: Abhinandan Tiwary on ICSE maths, Aaditya Kashyap on the sciences, and Ajay Vatsyayan on ISC maths.

Where ICSE fits among Asansol's boards

Families here choose between the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and its Madhyamik, the Higher Secondary Council for Classes 11 and 12, CBSE, and CISCE's ICSE and ISC. We do not publish a share for each. The comparison that helps tuition is with the state board. WBBSE runs Classes 9 and 10 on its own books, Ganit Prakash for maths among them, and splits science into Physical Science and Life Science. ICSE goes further and examines Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three papers, prescribes its own texts and expects longer answers in English. After every exam season the council also releases an Analysis of Pupil Performance that points out the answers examiners penalised. Someone used to Madhyamik scripts should show they can mark to that standard before teaching an ICSE child.

The three ICSE subject groups

How CISCE groups ICSE subjects
GroupSubjectsWritten paper : internal
Group I, compulsoryEnglish; a second language; History, Civics and Geography80 : 20
Group II, two or three chosenOptions include Mathematics and Science, Economics, Commercial Studies and Environmental Science, and classical or modern foreign languages80 : 20
Group III, one chosenAn applied subject, for example Computer Applications, Economic or Commercial Applications, Art or Physical Education50 : 50

Half of the Group III marks come from work done during the year. Those marks are the easiest on the whole certificate to collect and the easiest to lose by leaving the project until the last term.

Maths and the three science papers

Mathematics is a single 80-mark paper; the other 20 marks come from two or more assignments that both a school teacher and an outside examiner assess. The course blends commercial arithmetic, including banking and shares, with algebra, trigonometry, geometry and statistics. Abhinandan's point for parents is that the examiner marks the route, not just the destination: a right answer with missing steps still loses marks, so every session should end with fully written solutions.

Physics, Chemistry and Biology each carry an 80-mark paper plus 20 marks of practical assessment. Strength in one does not carry over to the others, so Aaditya suggests deciding early whether one tutor can teach all three well or whether the weakest needs a specialist. Specimen papers and the council's subject-wise analysis should be on any ICSE tutor's desk.

A revision cycle instead of one final sweep

Class 9 chapters come back in the Class 10 papers, and the syllabus is wide. A sensible ICSE tutor builds three habits from the start of Class 9. First, a revolving plan: now and then a session returns to an old chapter of each paper, so nothing goes stale. Second, timed long-answer writing from the first term, since writing speed grows slowly. Third, a dated list of internal assignments and projects, read out at the start of each month. A typical visit has the tutor correcting the student's homework attempts one line at a time, teaching a single new topic, and closing with a complete answer done under a time limit.

ISC in Classes 11 and 12: the rules to know early

  • Load: English for all, plus three to five electives, with six subjects at most.
  • Choices lock: once a cut-off date set by the regulations passes in the Class 11 registration year, the subject list is frozen, and Class 12 may only continue subjects begun in Class 11.
  • Promotion: 35% in four subjects including English, and 75% attendance.
  • Practicals: compulsory wherever a subject has them; Physics cannot be combined with Engineering Science.
  • The certificate: grades run from 1 to 9; a pass needs four subjects including English, together with Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service.

ISC mathematics is marked out of 80 for theory and 20 for a project, in Class 11 and again in Class 12. Ajay's advice is to treat the project as a chance to understand one topic deeply rather than a box to tick in the final month. For the paper itself, read our ISC maths tutor page and the guide to ICSE and ISC maths.

ISC science and entrance preparation

An ISC science student aiming at JEE, NEET or WBJEE follows two chapter orders. Entrance syllabuses lean on NCERT content, whereas the council's books follow a sequence of their own, so one topic may arrive months apart in school and in entrance practice. In the opening weeks of Class 11, ask the tutor for a single-page map: every ISC chapter, its NCERT match and the month each is due. From then on the tutor adds NCERT phrasing and quick option practice where ISC is light, and keeps long answers, practical records and projects moving where entrance work ignores them. See JEE home tutors in Asansol and NEET home tutors in Asansol.

Joining ICSE, or leaving it after Class 10

Asansol families move between boards for many reasons, including a transfer from another state. Burnpur, for example, sees children arrive mid-year into a school with a different board or second language. The first weeks decide how smooth that is.

Common moves and what a tutor should do first
MoveWhat changesFirst job for the tutor

ICSE to Higher SecondaryThe Council lists CISCE among equivalent boards; Semesters I and III are objective and no calculator is allowedTimed option drills and mental arithmetic from the first week

Whichever path you pick, the break after the Class 10 exams is the time to read ahead in the new course. ISC choices freeze early, so make the decision before the new term rather than a month into it. Our CBSE and West Bengal board pages for Asansol explain the other routes, and our guide to choosing a board and stream walks through the decision.

How ICSE tutors reach six Asansol localities

  • Burnpur: give the road or block name and your part of Burnpur; if your child has just changed board, say which board was left and which was joined.
  • Rabindra Nagar: linked to both the centre and the Burnpur side, so tutors from either direction can come; mention which you are nearer.
  • Sitarampur: on the Grand Trunk Road in the western belt; name the lane and whether Neamatpur or Kulti is closer.
  • Neamatpur: it stretches along the Grand Trunk Road, so say which side you live on; early-evening visits suit tutors travelling in.
  • Raniganj: on the eastern side; the ward or para name and a main-road landmark help a first-time visitor.
  • Searsole: next to Raniganj, so a tutor from one can usually teach in the other; add the ward number.

Tutors for a particular ISC elective are harder to find nearby than general maths and science tutors. A practical answer is a home tutor for the core papers and an online specialist for the elective or for literature. The Burnpur and Rabindra Nagar, Kulti, Neamatpur and Barakar and Raniganj and Jamuria zone pages and the Asansol home tuition guide have more local notes.

Home or online for ICSE?

Up to Class 10, maths and the three sciences repay a tutor in the room, since so many marks hang on how the working is set down. A screen is the sensible option for an ISC elective or English literature taught by someone in a far part of the corporation or in another city, and for brief checks in exam weeks. Whenever maths or science is taught online, the tutor has to see each line being written, through a stylus tablet, a shared whiteboard or a phone propped above the notebook. See online tuition in Asansol.

Checking a tutor against the CISCE standard

  1. Which specimen paper and which year's council analysis does the tutor work from?
  2. In maths, does the tutor insist on every step, the right units and a clear final line?
  3. Can the same tutor move from a physics numerical to a labelled biology diagram with ease?
  4. When an answer is correct but badly expressed, does the tutor fix the English as well?
  5. For ISC, what help will the tutor give with projects and practical files, and where does that help stop?

We send two or three matched tutors with their fees shown in advance; the first lesson costs nothing, and so does a later change. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how we check tutors).

Fees and getting started

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. An ICSE or ISC quote depends on the class, how many papers need help, the months left before the exams and the distance the tutor covers. Our pricing guide and the post on home tuition fees in Asansol go into detail.

ICSE Home Tutor in Asansol (ICSE & ISC, Classes 6–12): common questions

How much do ICSE and ISC home tutors in Asansol charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. ICSE and ISC tutors in Asansol set their own fees, which you see before the demo.

How do I find an ICSE tutor in Asansol who knows the CISCE marking style?

Ask for ICSE or ISC by name and list the papers that need help, and we send two or three matched tutors with their fees. Use the free demo to test the marking: hand over a recent answer and see whether the tutor corrects steps, units and English, not just the final result.

Why does ICSE Class 10 science need more tuition time than a single science subject?

ICSE examines Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three separate 80-mark papers, each with 20 practical marks. Strength in one does not help the others, so a student may need more time on the weakest paper. Decide early whether one tutor covers all three well or a specialist is needed.

When do ISC subject choices become fixed for a Class 11 student in Asansol?

ISC subject choices are fixed after a cut-off date set in the regulations during the Class 11 registration year. After that, no subject can be added in Class 12 that was not studied in Class 11. Settle electives with the school and tutor before term begins, not after trying them.

Can an ICSE student in Asansol join the Higher Secondary Council for Class 11?

Yes, the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education lists CISCE among its equivalent boards, so the move is allowed. The testing changes sharply: Semesters I and III are objective papers and no calculator is allowed. A tutor should start timed option drills and mental arithmetic in the first weeks.

How should ISC science students in Asansol keep school work in step with JEE or NEET?

Ask the tutor for a one-page map in the first weeks of Class 11 linking each ISC chapter to its NCERT match and due month. The tutor then adds NCERT wording and option practice where ISC is light, and keeps practical files and projects moving where entrance work ignores them.

Which ICSE subject group carries half its marks from internal work?

Group III, the applied subject such as Computer Applications or Art, carries half its marks from internal work. Those marks are the easiest to earn and the easiest to lose by leaving projects late. A tutor should keep a dated list of assignments and check it every month.

Is online tuition suitable for an ISC elective in Asansol?

Yes, online suits an ISC elective or English literature when the right specialist lives elsewhere in the corporation or another city. Keep a home tutor for maths and the sciences, where marks depend on written working. For online maths, the tutor must see each line through a tablet or camera.

What should a family in Burnpur tell an ICSE tutor after changing schools mid-year?

Tell the tutor which board your child left, which one they joined and which second language they now take. A good tutor then maps the gaps chapter by chapter and starts timed writing practice early. Give the road or block name and your part of Burnpur when booking.
