Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Senior physics in Asansol is examined in more than one way at once. A Higher Secondary student on the state syllabus faces a multiple-choice semester followed by a written one; a CBSE student writes long derivations and labelled diagrams; and anyone aiming at engineering or medicine also practises objective entrance questions against the clock. All three reward a student who lays out problems cleanly and knows their own mistakes, which is what a home tutor can build. Tell NXTutors the board, class and target exam; we suggest two or three physics tutors who can reach you, fees shown, with a free demo first.
The chapters overlap a great deal; the marking does not. Agree with the tutor which exam is nearest, and let the practice follow it.
| Paper | How it is built | Marking | Weekly practice |
|---|---|---|---|
| WBCHSE Higher Secondary physics | 70 theory marks in each class: 35 in a multiple-choice semester, 35 in a written one; practical separately | No calculator in any semester exam; theory and practical passed separately | Timed one-mark sets, then full written answers in the next term |
| CBSE Class 12 physics (042) | A 70-mark theory paper of 33 compulsory questions, and a 30-mark practical | Written answers, no calculator | A derivation, a diagram and a case study every week |
| JEE Main, as set in 2026 | 25 physics questions: 20 with options, 5 needing a number | +4 right, −1 wrong | Multi-step problems and a review of every error |
| NEET (UG), as set in 2026 | 45 of the 180 questions, worth 180 of 720 marks, on paper | +4 right, −1 wrong | Exact NCERT ideas, and leaving out questions rather than guessing |
Each entrance test has its own syllabus, set by the body that runs it, and a chapter a board has trimmed may still be examined there; NTA's bulletins on nta.ac.in are the place to check. WBJEE is run by its own board, so take its details from that board's site. Our JEE physics topic-wise plan and the note on NEET physics chapters that repay extra time help set priorities; for matching, see the Asansol pages for JEE and NEET home tutors.
The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education splits each year of physics into two semesters. In Class 12, Semester III is conducted by the Council at exam centres and is entirely multiple choice, one mark a question; Semester IV, also run by the Council, moves to short and descriptive answers. The Council's 2026 question-pattern file sets out Semester III like this:
| Topic | Marks | Tutoring note |
|---|---|---|
| Electrostatics | 8 | Field and potential ideas tested with quick sign and direction checks |
| Current electricity | 8 | Series and parallel networks reduced on rough paper before any option is chosen |
| Magnetic effect of current | 8 | Right-hand rules practised until the direction comes without hesitation |
| Electromagnetic induction | 8 | Lenz's law questions where the student explains the direction in words |
| Electromagnetic waves | 3 | The order of the spectrum and one use of each band |
Semester IV then covers optics, the dual nature of radiation, atoms and nuclei, electronic devices and communication in written form, so ray diagrams and derivations need to be ready by winter even though the autumn paper never asks for them. No calculator is allowed in any semester examination, so arithmetic with powers of ten has to be quick by hand. Read every notice on wbchse.wb.gov.in, and see our West Bengal board tutors in Asansol page for the other Higher Secondary subjects.
For 2026-27 the paper design is unchanged from last session, and the fourteen NCERT chapters fall into four blocks. The biggest, worth 33 marks, runs from electrostatics to alternating current. Optics together with electromagnetic waves takes 18, modern physics 12, and semiconductor electronics 7; transistors and logic gates are no longer in the course, so older notes that teach them can be set aside.
The paper has 33 questions in five sections: in A, sixteen of one mark (twelve multiple-choice and four assertion–reason); in B, five of two marks; in C, seven of three; in D, two case studies of four; and in E, three long answers of five. A little under two-fifths of the marks are for recall. The paper gives the constants but bans calculators, and there is one main Class 12 board exam. Recurring derivations are collected in our Class 12 physics strategies, and our Class 12 physics tutor page sets out the year.
On the state syllabus, the Council's FAQ says Class 12 practicals are held at the student's own school before Semester IV, with no calculator allowed, and practical marks must be passed on their own. In CBSE, the 30 practical marks are split into two experiments of 7 each, the record 5, an activity 3, the investigatory project 3 and the viva 5. The record has to contain eight or more experiments (half from each section), six or more activities (again split evenly) and the project report.
Equipment never leaves the school lab, yet much of the scoring happens on paper: a neat record, precautions learnt, sources of error understood. A tutor can check those entries and stage a mock viva with plain questions such as why readings are repeated, what a graph's slope stands for, or what a longer wire would change.
A home tutor who just repeats the class adds nothing. The value lies in work a group cannot do for one student:
| Job | What happens in the session | What you should see |
|---|---|---|
| Clearing unsolved problems | The sums your child skipped or copied are attempted again, with the tutor asking "why this step?" at each line | Fewer blank questions on the next sheet |
| Protecting written answers | One derivation, one labelled diagram and one practical question each week | Board and Semester IV answers that read as complete |
| Reading each test | Every lost mark filed as an idea not grasped, a slip, or a question that should have been skipped | A short list that decides next week's work |
Agree the home slot around the class timetable so the two never collide. Two articles weigh up a class against a home tutor, one for JEE and one for NEET.
Layout tells you more about progress than a score does. Whether the question is a semester one-marker done on rough paper or a five-mark board answer, ask the tutor to hold your child to one routine:
A "wrong answers" notebook makes it stick: the question, the untouched first attempt, one line on the mistake, and a clean re-solve later that week. Bring it to the free demo; a good tutor will spot the weak link first.
By Class 11, school days run long and physics often lands after dark. A tutor who lives on your side of the city and has a precise address is far more likely to keep that slot. See every locality on our Asansol page.
| Neighbourhood | Setting | Guide the tutor with | Tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kanyapur | North of the centre, Ward 20, with Kumarpur and Kalyanpur as neighbours | Block or lane, house name, and which end you are nearer | Many senior students here mix a home tutor for one science with online help for another |
| Hutton Road | A residential belt in south-central Asansol, Ward 46 | The lane off Hutton Road and the house number | Tutors from Murgasol and the SB Gorai Road side already know the way |
| Chelidanga | South Asansol over Wards 49 and 50, including Hill View Park | Hill View Park side or the Dhurup Dangal side | Two or three fixed evenings a week hold better than short daily visits |
| Ushagram | A large eastern area over Wards 38 to 40, along GT Road | The inner road, then the nearest GT Road crossing | Plan short revision rounds before each semester exam |
| Dhadka | Ward 13 in the northern belt, next to South Dhadka | Dhadka proper or South Dhadka, plus the lane | An online evening helps when the home slot cannot be kept |
| Kalla | The north-west, Ward 15, beside Majiara and Dhadka | Lane, house number and a shop to look out for | Say whether Majiara or Dhadka is your nearer side |
On a night when school overruns, the same tutor can teach online instead. The Railpar, Dhadka and Kalla and Ushagram and GT Road East zone pages have more local advice.
The usual time to start is the beginning of Class 11, since vectors, graphs and mechanics underpin almost every Class 12 chapter. Read the Class 11 physics tutor page and our guide to choosing a stream.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor fixes their own rate. Good comparison questions: which exam have you prepared students for this year, whether Higher Secondary semesters, CBSE, JEE or NEET; what is the latest you can start an evening lesson; and can one session a week be online? Fees appear on the shortlist before any demo, and our Asansol home tuition fees guide goes further.
Useful details are the class, board and semester; the main goal, whether that is the school paper, JEE or NEET; the days of any class your child already attends; your neighbourhood and a landmark; and which evenings are open. We send back two or three physics tutors with fees, and one of them gives a free demo. Not the right fit? A second demo follows, and you can change tutor later at no cost. Where nobody suitable can reach you at that hour, we suggest a fully or partly online plan. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). Our office is in Sector 66, Gurugram, and lessons online reach every state. Related pages: the national physics home tutor guide, physics tutors in Kolkata, and Asansol's maths and chemistry pages.

Five topics make up the 35-mark Semester III physics paper, all multiple choice at one mark each. Electrostatics, current electricity, magnetic effect of current and electromagnetic induction carry 8 marks apiece, and electromagnetic waves carries 3. Optics, modern physics and electronic devices come later, in the written Semester IV paper.
Class 12 practicals under the Higher Secondary Council are held at the student's own school, before the Semester IV examination, according to the Council's answers to common questions. Theory and practical must be passed separately and no calculator is allowed, so a tutor should check the record and run a mock viva well before then.
CBSE groups the 70 theory marks into four blocks for 2026-27. Electricity and magnetism, from electrostatics to alternating current, carries 33; optics with electromagnetic waves 18; modern physics 12; and semiconductor electronics 7, now without transistors or logic gates. The paper has 33 compulsory questions in five sections, and calculators are not allowed.
Both NTA exams in 2026 gave four marks for a right answer and took one mark for a wrong one. JEE Main Paper 1 had 25 physics questions, 20 with options and 5 needing a number. NEET had 45 physics questions out of 180. Check the current bulletin on nta.ac.in, since NTA can change the pattern.
A home physics tutor is useful beside a coaching class if they do work a group cannot. That means re-solving skipped problems one to one, keeping written board and semester answers complete, and reading every test to sort lost marks into concept gaps, slips or questions better left. Set the home slot so it never clashes with the class.
A physics tutor should teach the same four steps for every problem until they become automatic. First a sketch with directions or rays, then one line naming the law used, then substitution with units on every line, and finally a quick check that the sign and size make sense. A wrong-answers notebook keeps the routine honest.
Give the detail locals use so the tutor finds you first time after dark. In Kanyapur, say whether you are nearer the Court More or Kalyanpur end. In Chelidanga, name the Hill View Park side or the Dhurup Dangal side. In Kalla, say whether Majiara or Dhadka is nearer and add a shop as a marker.
The start of Class 11 is usually the right time to begin physics tuition. Mechanics leans on vectors and graphs that return through every Class 12 chapter, and the first Higher Secondary semester comes quickly. A student moving from IGCSE or another board in Class 11 often needs extra early work on vectors and graph reading.
