What home tuition costs in Asansol

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Science home tutor in Asansol for Classes 6 to 10: one subject that becomes two, or three

Ask three Asansol parents how many science subjects their Class 9 child takes, and you may hear three answers. On the West Bengal board it is two, Physical Science and Life Science. In a CBSE school it is one paper called Science. In an ICSE school it is three, with physics, chemistry and biology examined apart. The middle-school years before that, Classes 6 to 8, are where the habits form that all three routes depend on. NXTutors matches your child with two or three science tutors who know the right route and can reach your neighbourhood. Their fees are visible on the shortlist, and the first class is a free demo.

Two subjects, one or three: which science route is your child on?

Aaditya Kashyap wrote the CBSE and ICSE guidance on this page; the West Bengal notes come from the state board's own published calendar and routine. The table sets the three routes side by side for Classes 9 and 10.

Science in Classes 9 and 10 on the three boards Asansol families meet most: the subjects, the books and the exam at the end
BoardScience subjectsBooksEnd of Class 10
West Bengal Board of Secondary EducationPhysical Science and Environment; Life Science and EnvironmentThe board's own textbooks, in the school's mediumMadhyamik Pariksha, with a separate paper for each
CBSEScience, a single subjectNCERTA board paper of 80, with 20 marks assessed by the school
CISCE (ICSE)Physics, Chemistry and Biology, separatelyChosen by the school within the CISCE syllabusThree papers, each with internal marks attached

Whichever route applies, one tutor for all the sciences usually makes most sense until Class 10, because the same person can tell whether a wrong physics answer came from weak arithmetic or a weak idea. The national science home tutor page explains our matching.

What should Classes 6 to 8 build?

These are not exam years, so parents sometimes leave science alone until Class 9. That is a mistake worth avoiding. In Classes 6 and 7, a tutor should ask the child to explain each textbook activity in a complete sentence and draw a small labelled sketch of it (CBSE schools now use NCERT's Curiosity books here). In Class 8 the three sciences start to separate, and the first numericals and word equations appear; a tutor should insist on a unit beside every number from the very first sum. A quick parent's check at any point: does your child reach for the scientific word, or an everyday one? The first habit carries straight into Class 9.

Physical Science and Life Science: how should a tutor handle the state board's split?

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education lists Physical Science and Environment and Life Science and Environment as two subjects in Classes 9 and 10, and the Madhyamik routine gives each its own day. Physical Science holds the physics and chemistry; Life Science holds the biology. Through the year, the board's academic calendar sets three summative evaluations, normally early in April, August and December, with Internal Formative Evaluation in both classes.

  • Give each subject its own slot. A good mark in one does not lift the other, so a tutor should keep a fixed share of every week for each.
  • Work backwards from the next summative. The school announces the chapters; finish them early and leave room for a mixed test at home.
  • Write in the book's language. Students here learn in Bengali, Hindi or English medium. A Bengali-medium child should answer with the Bengali terms in the textbook, even if the idea was first talked through in another language.

Take the Madhyamik routine and any changes only from wbbse.wb.gov.in. Our West Bengal board tutors in Asansol page covers the rest of the board.

CBSE Class 10 science: what carries the marks, and which questions does the board ask?

The 20 school marks come in four blocks of five (periodic tests, multiple assessment, a portfolio, and practical-based subject enrichment). The 80 board marks are spread over five units of very different size:

CBSE Class 10 science, 2026-27: the five units, their board marks, and where a tutor should look first
UnitMarksWhere marks slip
Chemical Substances: reactions, acids and bases, metals, carbon compounds25Unbalanced equations and wrong names
World of Living: life processes, control, reproduction, heredity25Diagrams without labels, and steps of a process out of order
Effects of Current: electricity and magnetism13Units missing from circuit numericals
Natural Phenomena: light, the eye, dispersion12Ray diagrams drawn freehand without arrows
Our Environment5Simply skipped in revision

By skill, half the paper is recall and understanding, 30% application and 20% analysis or evaluation. The 2026-27 sample paper has 39 questions in five types: twenty one-markers (multiple-choice and assertion–reason), then six of two marks, seven of three, three case- or source-based items of four, and three long answers of five. Practise each kind differently: speed for the one-markers, one point per mark for short answers, a careful read of the data in case items, and a diagram or equation at the heart of every long answer. Use CBSE's own sample papers and marking schemes from cbseacademic.

Three areas are marked inside school this session, not on the board paper: evolution, the periodic classification, and electromagnetic induction with the generator and motor. They come back in Class 11, so teach them, but do not spend board-revision weeks on them. A list of 14 curriculum experiments feeds board questions too, so the practical file is revision in disguise. After the compulsory main exam, CBSE offers eligible students an optional extra attempt at up to three subjects, science included; check timings only on cbse.gov.in. See the CBSE Class 10 science notes, the board-year planner and the Class 10 science tutor page.

Why does CBSE Class 9 science need its own plan?

For 2026-27, CBSE follows NCERT's newer Class 9 textbook, Exploration, still with an 80-mark exam and 20 internal marks. The matter unit carries 27, the living world 25, motion, force, work and sound 23, and Earth as a system 5. Old notes passed down in the family follow the previous book, so they are a poor guide; plan from the new chapters. The Class 9 science tutor page explains how we match for this year.

What should an ICSE science family ask for?

With three separate papers, an ICSE student needs a tutor comfortable in all three or a clear plan for which tutor covers what. Lessons should follow the school's chosen books and CISCE's specimen papers, not an NCERT sequence, and precise definitions and fully worked numericals are where ICSE marks are won. Tutors with recent ICSE experience are fewer, so ask early; online lessons widen the search. Our ICSE Class 9 and 10 science guide goes paper by paper.

How does your neighbourhood shape the after-school science lesson?

For younger children, home tuition in Asansol usually sits between school and the evening meal, so a tutor who lives near your lane and knows the way is a real advantage. Here is what to tell a tutor in six neighbourhoods of central and northern Asansol; every locality is listed on our Asansol page.

Hutton Road and Chelidanga

Hutton Road is a named road and residential belt of south-central Asansol, Ward 46, with Murgasol and SB Gorai Road close by; give the lane off the road, the house number and the gate colour. Chelidanga spreads over Wards 49 and 50; say whether you are on the Hill View Park side or nearer Dhurup Dangal.

Court More and Ismile

Court More is a meeting point of several roads, so name your road and the nearest corner, then a shop sign. Ismile, written Ismail in the ward list, sits between the two parts of Mohisila Colony; mention both names, because neighbours may use either, and say which medium your child studies in.

Railpar and Kalla

Railpar is large, covering Wards 26 to 31, so the ward number and para name help more than the area name alone. Kalla, on the north-western side next to Majiara and Dhadka, often draws tutors who already teach in those wards; add a shop the tutor can use as a marker on the first visit.

Zone pages for Court More and central Asansol and Railpar, Dhadka and Kalla hold more tips, and our Asansol home tuition guide walks through every zone.

Which habits earn science marks on every board?

Five science habits a tutor should repeat until they are automatic, with the slip each one prevents
TopicThe habitThe slip it prevents
Mirrors and lensesRays drawn with a ruler, arrowheads on each, virtual rays dottedAn image placed on the wrong side
Electric circuitsStandard symbols; ammeter in series, voltmeter in parallelA circuit that could not work as drawn
Human bodyHeart, kidney tubule and gut drawn and labelled from memoryMarks lost on spelling and missing labels
Chemical equationsBalanced every time, state symbols when askedA correct reaction that still scores zero
HeredityEvery cross written out, generation by generationA right ratio with no working to support it

During the free demo, ask the tutor to teach this week's school chapter and see whether these habits show up without being asked for. Our demo class checklist lists more signs. If the tutor is not the right fit, another tutor from your shortlist takes a demo, and swapping later costs nothing.

What does a science home tutor in Asansol cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor decides their own rate. For Classes 6 to 10, useful questions are how the tutor would share the year between fresh chapters and revision, how Physical Science and Life Science would each get their time, and whether one session a week could run online. The fee is on the shortlist before any demo, and the Asansol home tuition fees guide suggests more to ask.

How do you ask us for a science tutor?

Send the class, board and medium, the part of science that worries you, your neighbourhood and a landmark, and the afternoons your child is free. We come back with two or three science tutors and their fees; you invite one for a free demo. If no suitable tutor can make that hour, we will suggest an online or partly online plan. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). Older students can look at the Asansol pages for physics, chemistry and biology, and families elsewhere in West Bengal can compare science tutors in Kolkata.

Science Home Tutor in Asansol: common questions

How much does a science home tutor for Classes 6 to 10 cost in Asansol?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Asansol science tutor sets a fee, shown on the shortlist before any demo. Ask how they would split time between Physical Science and Life Science.

How do I ask NXTutors for a science tutor for my child in Asansol?

Send the class, board and medium, the part of science your child finds hardest, your neighbourhood with a landmark, and the free afternoons. Within a day you get two or three science tutors, each with a fee shown up front, and you choose one for a free demo. When nobody nearby is free at that time, an online or mixed home-and-online plan is the fallback.

How is science split for Madhyamik students in Classes 9 and 10?

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education treats Physical Science and Environment and Life Science and Environment as separate subjects. Physical Science covers physics and chemistry, Life Science covers biology, and each has its own textbook, school tests and Madhyamik paper. A tutor should give each a fixed share of the week, since one cannot cover for the other.

Should a Bengali-medium Madhyamik student write science answers in English terms?

A Bengali-medium Madhyamik student should write science answers with the Bengali terms used in the board's textbook. A tutor may explain an idea in Hindi or English first if that helps, but written answers should follow the book the examiner expects. Mention the medium in your request so we only suggest tutors who teach in it.

On the CBSE Class 10 science paper, where do most of the marks sit?

Chemical Substances and World of Living carry the most, at 25 marks each out of the 80 on the CBSE Class 10 board paper. Effects of Current brings 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. The school adds 20 internal marks in four parts of five, including practical-based subject enrichment and a portfolio.

Which Class 10 science topics are assessed by the school rather than CBSE in 2026-27?

For 2026-27, the school rather than the board paper assesses three topics: evolution, how the periodic table classifies elements, and electromagnetic induction (generators and motors). They return in Class 11, so they still need teaching, but board-revision weeks are better spent on the chapters the board paper actually examines.

What should Classes 6 to 8 science tuition build before the board years?

Middle-school science tuition should build clear written explanations and careful numerical habits before Class 9. In Classes 6 and 7, each textbook activity should become a full sentence and a labelled sketch. In Class 8, when numericals begin, every number should carry its unit. These habits carry straight into Madhyamik, CBSE and ICSE papers.

How many science papers does an ICSE Class 10 student sit?

An ICSE Class 10 student sits three separate science papers, because CISCE examines Physics, Chemistry and Biology on their own, each with internal marks. Schools choose textbooks within the CISCE syllabus, so the tutor works from the chosen school books alongside the council's specimen papers. Ask for ICSE experience early, since such tutors can take longer to find.

What address details help a science tutor reach Hutton Road, Ismile or Kalla?

Precise local details help a tutor reach these neighbourhoods on the first visit. On Hutton Road, give the lane off the road, the house number and the gate colour. In Ismile, mention that the ward list spells it Ismail and name Mohisila Colony if neighbours use it. In Kalla, add a shop the tutor can use as a marker.
