Tutoring in Asansol: what to know
Asansol divides into six zones for tutors on NXTutors. Court More and Central Asansol takes in Court More, Kanyapur, Hutton Road and Chelidanga; Ushagram and GT Road East covers Ushagram, Murgasol and Ismile; and Railpar, Dhadka and Kalla makes up the northern belt. Burnpur, Rabindra Nagar and Dihika sit on the south-western side, Kulti, Neamatpur, Sitarampur and Barakar stretch west along the Grand Trunk Road to the Jharkhand border, and Raniganj, Searsole and Jamuria form the eastern side. Kulti, Raniganj and Jamuria joined the municipal corporation in 2015, so the city is long from end to end. Many localities are large, and families describe an address by ward, para or pocket, which is worth asking for before a first visit.
Asansol classrooms follow four systems. The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education takes pupils up to the Madhyamik Pariksha in Class 10; the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education runs Classes 11 and 12, now examined by semester; and CBSE and CISCE schools sit beside them, while IB and IGCSE students mostly learn over video. Medium counts as much as board in this city: a child may write the paper in Bengali, Hindi or English, so name the languages you teach in on your profile. Some tutors here also take batches at coaching classes, which is fine, but a family booking you wants one-to-one attention, so build each home hour around that single student.
Lessons can happen in the student's home, on a screen or as a mix. Picture a Railpar parent posting a request. NXTutors draws up a shortlist of two or three: people who live in Railpar come first, followed by tutors already teaching there, then others from the northern belt, then the rest of Asansol, and online tutors last. Your fee is shown to the parent before a free trial lesson, and if the family later moves to another tutor, that change costs them nothing. Much of the city lies along the Grand Trunk Road, where evenings get busy, so keep your home list to localities you can reach on time each week and teach anyone further off over video.

1
Sign up with a one-time code
Create your account with a one-time code sent to your phone or email. List what you teach next: classes, subjects and boards such as Madhyamik, Higher Secondary, CBSE or ICSE, the language you explain in, and the parts of Asansol you can travel to.
-
2
Upload your ID for the ID check
Upload a photo ID issued by the government. Tutors who join go through this ID check to establish identity; it is not a police or background check.
-
3
Your profile carries the Verified badge
Families then see your boards, your localities anywhere from Court More to Raniganj, the hours you keep free and the fee you set. The Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete.

A family nearby sends a request
Picture a Burnpur or Rabindra Nagar parent asking for help. The shortlist of two or three starts with tutors who live in that locality, moves to those already teaching there, and widens to the zone, Asansol and online.

5
Free demo; the family sees your fee first
Before booking, the parent sees your fee. Your first lesson is a free demo in their home, with a parent requested to stay in, and it shows you the student's level and which hours school leaves free.

Teach at home, online or both
From then on, the mix is your choice: home lessons only in the localities you listed, video lessons with students across West Bengal and India, or both, such as a Saturday visit in Searsole plus two evenings online.
Boards you can teach in Asansol
Expect students of four kinds here: Madhyamik candidates of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, Higher Secondary students of the West Bengal Council, CBSE and CISCE pupils across the same classes, and the occasional IB or IGCSE learner, usually taught over video. The two West Bengal bodies publish routines, syllabus changes and notices on their own websites; work from those, not from a guidebook printed years ago. For CBSE, NCERT and the board's academic site set the plan; for ICSE and ISC, the CISCE regulations; for IB and IGCSE, the official subject guides.
WBBSE
Madhyamik (Class 10); Higher Secondary (Classes 11–12)
Class 10 ends in WBBSE's Madhyamik Pariksha, the Secondary Examination; Classes 11 and 12 belong to WBCHSE's Higher Secondary course, which is now examined one semester at a time. Explain each idea in the medium the student writes in, Bengali, Hindi or English, keeping the textbook's terms, and read routines and notices only on the two boards' own websites.
For a CBSE learner in Asansol, keep every lesson anchored to the NCERT chapter of the week and practise with the board's own specimen papers and marking guidance on cbseacademic.nic.in. Where the student also sits in a group class, find out what that class is doing, then spend your hour on written answers, school tests and whatever the batch hurried past.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
Both CISCE stages, ICSE at the end of Class 10 and ISC at the end of Class 12, reward full written answers over a broad set of subjects, with set literature texts in English. Plan from the regulations and specimen papers that CISCE posts on cisce.org. Tutors comfortable with these papers can mix home students in one Asansol zone with ISC learners elsewhere taught over video.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
An IB Diploma student in Asansol will almost always study with you over video, working through the official guide for each subject from ibo.org. You may coach the planning of the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay and comment on drafts, but every word submitted must be the student's. Settle on one regular online hour outside the school day.
Begin by asking which board sets the student's papers, Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, and whether they sit the core or extended tier. From there, revision is built on past papers, their mark schemes and practice at reading each command word. Cambridge publishes its syllabuses on cambridgeinternational.org; for an Asansol student, a specialist teaching online is normally the realistic option.
