IB and IGCSE tutor jobs: teach international curricula with NXTutors

Families on international curricula ask for something different from most tuition requests. Their children are assessed on how they explain, analyse and apply, not only on what they remember; mark schemes and command words carry real weight; and coursework, from IB internal assessments to IGCSE practical papers, has strict rules about whose work it is. On NXTutors these families post requests that are always matched on board, so a tutor who knows the IB Diploma or Cambridge IGCSE well is shown to the families who need exactly that.

There is no charge to join or to set up your profile. You decide which programmes, subjects and levels you teach, whether you teach at home, online or both, and your fee per class. Demand differs a great deal from city to city, and we make no promise of students, grades or income.

How you get tuition work on NXTutors

Six steps from applying to your first class. Swipe to see each step.

  1. Sign up with a one-time code

Apply on WhatsApp through the Become a tutor form; the team sets up your account, and it costs nothing to join.

  2. Upload your ID; our team reviews it

Confirm with a one-time code, then list programmes and levels precisely: IB DP SL or HL, MYP, IGCSE Core or Extended, Edexcel International GCSE.

  3. Your profile carries the Verified badge

Upload a government photo ID under Documents. The Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed it.

  4. A family nearby sends a request

Once approved, you see masked leads matched on board: class, need, area, timing and budget band, never contact details.

  5. Free demo; the family sees your fee first

Unlock a lead you can teach well and send one proposal with your hourly fee and up to three demo slots.

  6. Teach at home, online or both

Use the free demo for a past-paper question the student found hard, marked the way the examiner would mark it.

Which international programmes do families ask about?

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is a course in which students take subjects at Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL). In mathematics they choose Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, and in the sciences they take subjects such as physics, chemistry and biology and each course includes internal assessment. Families with younger children may follow the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), where tutoring often centres on structured written responses and investigation skills.

Cambridge IGCSE courses, run by Cambridge International, usually have a Core and an Extended route; in the sciences, candidates who learn only Core content are limited in the grades they can reach, so the tier matters. Every IGCSE science candidate sits either a practical test or an alternative-to-practical paper. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is a separate qualification with its own specifications and papers, and some schools teach it instead of, or alongside, Cambridge. Always ask which board and which tier the student is entered for before you plan.

Coursework and academic honesty: where the tutor's line sits

IB internal assessments, such as the mathematics exploration or a science investigation, and the extended essay, must be the student's own work. A tutor may teach the underlying skills, for example how to frame a research question, how to handle uncertainties or how to structure an argument, and may discuss general approaches. A tutor must not write sections, design the investigation, or edit drafts into shape. Parents are sometimes unsure about this, and a tutor who explains the line clearly in the first conversation builds trust.

The same principle applies to IGCSE practical work and to MYP tasks. Teach the student to plan an experiment, tabulate readings and evaluate a method, then let them do the task themselves. Say on your profile and in your proposal that you support skills, not ghost-writing; it is honest, and it protects the student's qualification.

What parents of IB and IGCSE students expect

These parents tend to know the mark schemes and want a tutor who does too. They look for someone who teaches to command words such as 'describe', 'explain', 'evaluate' and 'show that', uses past papers and examiner-style marking, and gives clear written feedback after each block of lessons. Many IB students juggle six subjects plus core requirements, so a tutor who plans around their deadlines, rather than adding to the pile, is valued.

Requests for HL mathematics and HL sciences are often the hardest to fill locally, which is why online teaching is common here. IGCSE requests frequently come one or two years before the exam, when a student moving from an Indian board meets unfamiliar question styles, or when the family wants Extended-tier confidence. Tutors who can teach in British-style terminology and units, and who are at ease with calculator-active papers, settle in quickly.

What background helps for international-curriculum tuition?

NXTutors does not demand a particular certificate for IB or IGCSE teaching. You must be 18 or over and keep your profile accurate, without claiming results, schools or ranks you cannot prove. What families look for is a strong degree in the subject, direct experience with the programme you list, and familiarity with its published guides, specimen papers and mark schemes. Experience as a school teacher on these programmes helps, but so does years of one-to-one tutoring if you can show the depth in a demo.

List programme, subject and level precisely: IB Mathematics AA HL, IB Chemistry SL, MYP sciences, IGCSE Physics Extended, Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics. Because IB and IGCSE requests are always matched on board, a vague profile reaches fewer of the families you want.

How an IB or IGCSE request becomes your lead

A family's request reaches you as a lead when the subject, class band and board match your profile, the mode suits, and for home lessons the family's sector falls within your travel areas or zone. You first see a masked card: the class, a summary such as 'IB Physics HL, help with uncertainties and paper practice', the area, timing, a budget band and a few signals of fit. Names and phone numbers stay hidden.

Unlocking costs credits, at present 80 to 240 per lead, depending on how complete the request is and how soon the family wants to start; the card shows the price before you decide. A lead can be unlocked by five tutors at most and then shows as Full, and it stays open for about seven days. You then send one proposal with a message, your hourly fee and up to three demo slots; chat opens when the family replies or shortlists you. Credits come back automatically if a lead is duplicate or fake, withdrawn, or your proposal is unopened for 72 hours, with seven days to claim. Leads go only to tutors whose ID has been approved.

Setting a fee for IB and IGCSE teaching

You set your own fee per class, and families see it before the free demo. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. The things that usually move an international-curriculum fee are the level (HL against SL, Extended against Core), the subject, whether coursework skills are part of the work, travel time for home lessons, and the number of sessions a week.

Under the platform's current rules (see /tutor-terms), for home tuition you receive 50% of the first month's fee and the full fee from the second month; for online tuition, 70% of the fee every month. These describe how payments are split, not what you will earn. Charge exactly the fee shown before the demo, never charge for the demo, and agree any change in advance for future classes only.

Joining to teach IB or IGCSE

Joining is free. Apply on WhatsApp through the Apply form on /become-a-tutor, confirm with a one-time code at first login, and complete your profile: programmes, subjects, levels, fee per class, home, online or both, and travel areas. Upload your ID under Documents. Tutors who join go through an ID check: you confirm your phone or email with a one-time code and upload a government photo ID (Aadhaar, voter ID, passport or driving licence, front and back), which our team reviews. The Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. It is not a police or background check; read /how-we-verify-tutors. Teaching children means keeping the parent informed and following /safeguarding-policy.

The free plan carries 160 lead credits a month and, as they roll out, up to ten WhatsApp alerts a month when you are among the five closest fits for a new lead. Optional paid plans add credits, AI tools and visibility in places labelled Featured; see /pricing. They never alter how tutors are ranked for a request and do not promise leads. Women tutors welcome

For women tutors: you set the terms

Women tutors are welcome on NXTutors, for home classes, online classes or both. You decide how, where and when you teach. These are the controls the product gives you, and the habits our safeguarding policy asks of tutors and families.

  • Choose home, online or hybrid teaching on your profile, and change it whenever you like.
  • List the areas you travel to: home requests come only from those areas.
  • Set your own days and timings; requests are matched to the hours you give.
  • Every match starts with a demo class, and our safeguarding policy asks the parent to be at home for it.
  • Teach where a parent or another adult is at home; in gated societies the family adds you to the gate or visitor register.
  • Keep messages with the parent or a family group, never a child's private chat.
  • Every tutor who joins goes through the same ID check. It confirms identity; it is not a police check.
  • Stop any time. If anything worries you, stop the classes and tell us on WhatsApp or through the contact page.

Read the safeguarding policy and how the ID check works.

Why tutors choose NXTutors

What is different from a directory listing or a tuition bureau.

  • You set your fee

Your fee per class is on your profile, and families see it before the demo, so there is no haggling after a good class.

  • Matched, nearest first

Each request goes to two or three tutors who fit it, nearest first, not to a long list of people chasing the same family.

  • Demo first

The first class is a free demo. Families decide after meeting you, not from a phone call or a price list.

  • No made-up leads

We never show invented requests. The only request details on these pages are real and anonymised, and only once there are three or more.

  • An ID check for everyone

Every tutor who joins goes through the same ID check. Real tutors who pass carry the Verified badge; sample profiles are always labelled.

  • AI-first, with real teachers

Parents can ask NXT AI about your profile and compare tutors side by side. The teaching is always yours.

Tutor plans and what each includes

Tutor plans are listed on our pricing page with what each one includes. Read them before you apply; we do not quote prices on this page. Tutors are independent: you set your own fee, and families pay you for the classes they take.

Questions from tutors

Can I help a student with their IB internal assessment?

You can teach the skills behind it, such as choosing a focused question, handling data and uncertainties, and structuring an argument. The assessment itself must remain the student's own work, so do not write, design or rewrite it. Explaining that line to the parent at the start avoids misunderstandings later and protects the student.

Do I need to have taught in an IB or Cambridge school?

No. NXTutors sets no such requirement. You need to be 18 or over and accurate on your profile. Families look for subject depth and real familiarity with the programme's guides, past papers and mark schemes, and they judge that in the free demo. School experience on these programmes helps if you have it.

Is Pearson Edexcel International GCSE the same as Cambridge IGCSE?

No. They are separate qualifications from different awarding bodies, with their own specifications and papers, although the subjects overlap. List each one you teach separately on your profile, and confirm with the family which board and tier the student is entered for before planning lessons.

Can I teach IB or IGCSE students online across India?

Yes. Set your mode to online or both. Online requests are matched on subject, class and board, not on where you live, which helps HL and Extended-tier specialists reach families in other cities. Agree a shared whiteboard or document camera so the student's working and diagrams stay visible.

Is there a fee to join as an IB or IGCSE tutor?

No. Joining and onboarding are free, and the free plan includes 160 lead credits each month. Paid plans are optional and listed on /pricing. Paying does not change the order in which tutors are ranked for a request; paid visibility appears only in places clearly labelled Featured.

How much of the family's fee reaches me?

Under the platform's current rules in /tutor-terms, home tuition gives you 50% of the first month's fee and the full fee from the second month, and online tuition gives you 70% every month. Your overall income depends on your fee, your hours and how many families choose you, so we make no promise about it.
