IB and IGCSE tutor jobs in Bengaluru

IB and IGCSE schools are one strand among Bengaluru's boards, beside the state board, CBSE and ICSE, and the families who follow them ask in a particular way: by course, level and code. "Maths AA HL, second year", "Chemistry HL", "IGCSE 0580 Extended". A tutor who answers in the same language is already ahead, because these specialists are spread thinly across a large city.

Who asks for ib and igcse tutors in Bengaluru

The IB Diploma runs over two years: six subjects, each with internal assessment and a 1 to 7 grade, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. Bengaluru DP families ask most for Maths Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation at SL or HL, and for Physics and Chemistry, by course name. Internal assessment counts towards the grade, so the tutor coaches method and never writes the IA or Extended Essay. The MYP brings a different request: algebra and science content plus writing against published criteria, and a personal project of roughly 25 hours.

Cambridge IGCSE, and Pearson Edexcel's International GCSE, reward technique: command words, the right tier and past papers marked strictly against the official scheme. IGCSE Maths 0580 has Core and Extended tiers and Additional Mathematics 0606 is a separate course. Students moving from the state board or CBSE into an IGCSE or IB school often find the content manageable and the format strange, and parents want someone who teaches the format explicitly.

We do not publish how many Bengaluru families follow the IB or IGCSE, because there is no reliable figure. What is clear is that a single HL subject specialist may live across the city from the family, which is why the zone and the time slot are part of every IB match.

Where in Bengaluru the work is

A Diploma student in Whitefield and the closest-matched Chemistry HL tutor in Basaveshwaranagar sit on opposite sides of the city, and the wrong hour makes that gap far longer. International families are found across the eastern belt from Indiranagar to Whitefield, Marathahalli and KR Puram, in Koramangala, HSR and Bellandur's towers and Sarjapur Road's villa townships, and in Hebbal and Yelahanka, as well as in older central neighbourhoods. Most of the newer areas are gated and register visitors at the security desk.

This is why an online session between home visits keeps many weekly IB and IGCSE plans intact. A specialist on the Purple Line can reach Indiranagar and Whitefield in person and teach Sarjapur Road online; one in Jayanagar can keep the Green Line belt and cover the east on screen. Families here understand the trade-off and often ask for a weekend home session plus one weekday online class.

Entry is part of the plan in these neighbourhoods. Whitefield and Electronic City communities keep gate lists and some security desks ask for photo ID on a first visit; Thanisandra's gated complexes need your name and phone number; Sadashivanagar's larger houses may have a guard at the gate. Ask the family to register you before the demo, and allow a few minutes for the desk. In older central streets such as Richmond Town and Ulsoor, a guard often stands at apartment entrances, while heritage bungalows are simply a doorbell.

What families in Bengaluru expect

  • Name programme, subject, level and code: IB DP Maths AA HL, IB Physics SL, MYP Sciences, IGCSE 0580 Extended, 0606, Edexcel 4MA1.
  • Read the current subject guide on ibo.org or the syllabus on cambridgeinternational.org before the demo.
  • Mark past-paper answers strictly against the official scheme, with command words explained.
  • Guide IAs, the Extended Essay and the MYP personal project within the rules, never writing them.
  • Advise on tier choice for IGCSE with the school and the family.
  • Help students new to the IB or IGCSE adjust to open questions and long written explanations.
  • Offer a hybrid week if you live far from the family.

How to get picked

IB and IGCSE parents in Bengaluru tend to read profiles closely. Lead with the exact courses and levels you have taught recently and the exam sessions you have prepared students for. Explain how you handle the IA or Extended Essay in one honest sentence: you guide the plan and the method, the student writes. Name the zones you can reach and say that you teach online for the rest.

At the demo, bring one past-paper question from the student's course and mark the attempt against the scheme in front of the parent, showing exactly where the command word was missed. Then outline the next six weeks around the school's assessment calendar. The modules below cover leads, credits and how you get paid.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Which IB subjects do Bengaluru families ask for?

Most often Maths AA or AI at SL or HL, and Physics and Chemistry. Economics and Business Management also come up. List only the courses and levels you have taught.

Can I help with an IB internal assessment?

You can guide the method, the planning and the understanding behind it, but you must never write any part of the IA or Extended Essay. Families respect a tutor who says so clearly.

Do IGCSE students here follow Cambridge or Edexcel?

Both exist. Confirm which board and syllabus code the school follows before the demo, and keep the two sets of past papers apart.

Is IB tutoring in Bengaluru mostly online?

Often hybrid. Specialists are thinly spread, so families combine a home session with online classes, especially across the ORR or the Hebbal flyover at evening peak.

Can I teach MYP students as well as DP?

Yes. MYP work is judged against published criteria in eight subject groups, so read the task sheet and criteria before teaching. MYP maths and sciences are common requests.

Do state-board or CBSE students switch to IGCSE here?

Some move between boards, especially families relocating. They need help with command words and longer written answers, and a tutor who explains the new format clearly is valued.
