Home tutor jobs in Jayanagar, JP Nagar and Banashankari, Bengaluru

If you like teaching in houses rather than towers, the planned south of Bengaluru deserves a place on your profile. Jayanagar, founded in 1948 as one of the first planned neighbourhoods of the city and long its southern edge at South End Circle, is largely independent houses in numbered blocks on tree-lined streets, with low-rise flats added over time and the shops gathered in the 3rd and 4th Blocks. For a tutor, that usually means a front door, a parent waiting and no gate list to clear.

Open tuition requests in Jayanagar, JP Nagar & Banashankari

No open home-tuition requests in Jayanagar, JP Nagar & Banashankari right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; add Jayanagar, JP Nagar & Banashankari to your travel areas so they can reach you.

Around Jayanagar sit several other neighbourhoods. Basavanagudi, beside Lalbagh and named after the Bull Temple, holds older homes with gardens, some of them heritage houses. JP Nagar, developed by the BDA from the late 1970s, stretches in phases from inside the Outer Ring Road towards Puttenahalli, Gottigere and Anjanapura. Banashankari runs in six stages from Mysore Road to Kanakapura Road, with stages 1 to 3 inside the ORR. Kumaraswamy Layout, with pockets such as Vasanthapura and Subramanyapura, is mostly detached houses and mid-sized buildings, while Kanakapura Road further south carries newer apartment projects and gated communities.

Getting to Jayanagar, JP Nagar & Banashankari

The Green Line is what makes this zone workable without a vehicle. Its stations from National College through Lalbagh, South End Circle, Jayanagar, Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road, Banashankari, Jaya Prakash Nagar and Yelachenahalli opened on 18 June 2017, and the Kanakapura Road extension through Konanakunte Cross, Doddakallasandra, Vajarahalli, Thalaghattapura and Silk Institute followed on 15 January 2021. Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road is the interchange with the Yellow Line, so a tutor living on the BTM or Hosur Road side is one change away. Most homes are a short walk or auto ride from a station, which suits a tutor who prefers not to hunt for parking.

Where the line helps less is in the outer phases and stages. Distances grow towards Anjanapura and the far end of Banashankari, and an auto from the station takes longer there. If you live some way off, consider listing only the blocks and phases near the stations you use.

What families in Jayanagar, JP Nagar & Banashankari ask for

Families in this zone, as in the rest of Bengaluru, may ask for help with the Karnataka board's SSLC and PUC, or with CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or IGCSE subjects. The research notes describe the area as settled and residential, and a steady weekly slot fits that routine. On your profile, name your boards and classes precisely and, for PUC subjects, say whether you teach in Kannada or English medium, since PUC textbooks come in both versions. A parent comparing two or three tutors will look for exactly that line.

In the farthest pockets, an online lesson between home visits keeps the week on track, so ticking both home and online widens the families you can serve without adding a second long trip.

Society entry and visitor norms

Most visits here are at the doorstep. Ask the parent for the block, stage or phase together with the cross and main road numbers; Banashankari has six stages and JP Nagar's phases run a long way south, so a missing number can send you to the wrong end of the locality. Kumaraswamy Layout's detached houses and Basavanagudi's older homes are equally simple. The exception is the apartment projects along Kanakapura Road, which register visitors at the gate; there, ask the family to add your name before the demo and carry the flat number with you.

Timings that work in Jayanagar, JP Nagar & Banashankari

Street parking around the Jayanagar 4th Block shops and the Basavanagudi market is tight in the evening, and the market crowd builds at the same time. Tutors who arrive by metro avoid most of that. Kanakapura Road traffic at peak hours favours an earlier slot for homes further south. If you can, group two or three students along one stretch of the Green Line on the same evening; the line lets you move between Jayanagar, Banashankari and JP Nagar without going back to the road.

How leads and credits work

Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Do I need a vehicle to teach in Jayanagar or JP Nagar?

Not usually. The Green Line runs through Jayanagar, Banashankari, JP Nagar and Yelachenahalli and on along Kanakapura Road, so many homes are a walk or short auto from a station. A vehicle helps more in the outer phases and stages, where homes are further from the line.

Where will I appear when a family here sends a request?

NXTutors lists tutors living in the zone first, then those who already travel into it, then tutors elsewhere in Bengaluru, then online tutors, and the family is sent two or three. If you live outside the zone, adding Jayanagar, JP Nagar or Banashankari to the areas you travel to puts you ahead of the general city list.

Is Kumaraswamy Layout a practical place to take students?

For many tutors, yes. It sits close to Banashankari, JP Nagar and Yelachenahalli stations and is served by city buses. Homes are mostly detached houses or small buildings, so you walk straight to the door and parking is simpler than near the busy shopping streets.

What should I charge for lessons in this zone?

You set your own fee, and the family sees it on your profile before the free first lesson. Joining is free. The section on getting paid, further down this page, explains leads, credits and payment.
