Gurugram Schools and Their Boards: Choosing the Right Tutor
Before you pick a tutor in Gurugram, find out exactly which board and programme your child's school follows in their class. A tutor who knows the CBSE Class 9 papers well may know little about IB MYP criteria, and an ICSE science tutor needs to handle three separate papers rather than one. This guide lists ten Gurugram schools by the board or programme each one states, explains how to check any school yourself in the official board directories, and sets out what a tutor should know for each board.
Please read this first. The list below is not a ranking and not a recommendation. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school named here, and we do not help with admissions. Schools are listed alphabetically, with the board or programme as shown on the school's own website or in the CBSE, CISCE or IB directory, and the sector where the campus sits. Boards and class ranges can change, so always confirm with the school.
Why your school's board decides which tutor fits
Two children in the same class, living in the same society, can be studying quite different things. A CBSE Class 9 student in 2026-27 works from the new NCERT maths books, Ganita Manjari, and can opt for an extra Advanced paper. An ICSE Class 9 student prepares for a 3-hour, 80-mark maths paper and, in science, for separate Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers. An IB MYP student is marked against four criteria on a 1–8 scale, and an IGCSE student may be entered for the Core or the Extended tier.
The board changes three things a tutor does every week:
- What gets taught, and in what order. The chapter list, the depth of each topic and the books all come from the board.
- How answers are written. CBSE marking schemes reward steps and competency-based reasoning; ICSE chemistry expects balanced equations and observations; MYP rewards investigating and communicating, not just final answers.
- When the pressure points arrive. Internal assessment, practical files, eAssessment and board exams fall at different times for each board.
So the first question to ask any tutor is not "Do you teach Class 9 maths?" but "Have you taught Class 9 maths for this board recently?"
How to check your school's board and programmes
School websites are the first place parents look, but the boards' own directories are the record that counts. Each board keeps a public search:
- CBSE: the affiliated-schools search on CBSE's SARAS portal (saras.cbse.gov.in). Search by state, district or affiliation number to see the school's name, address and affiliation level, such as Senior Secondary.
- CISCE (ICSE and ISC): the school locator on locate.cisce.org. Filter by state (Haryana) and by ICSE or ISC to see each school's code and address.
- IB: the "Find an IB World School" search on ibo.org, which shows which IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP, CP) a school is authorised to offer.
- Cambridge: the "Find a Cambridge school" search on cambridgeinternational.org, which lists registered Cambridge schools by country and city.
- Haryana Board (BSEH): the Board of School Education Haryana publishes its syllabus and notices on bseh.org.in; ask the school for its BSEH affiliation details.
Many Gurugram schools run more than one programme on the same campus, and some run them in separate units with similar names. If a school's website lists a programme, check that the board's directory shows the same campus.
CBSE schools across Gurugram, by zone
Seven of the ten schools on our list state a CBSE affiliation, and we checked each one in the CBSE SARAS directory. Each area name links to our local tutor page for that part of the city, not to the school.
| School | Board(s) stated | Sector / area | Zone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blue Bells Model School | CBSE | Sector 4, Urban Estate | Old Gurugram |
| DAV Public School, Sector 49 | CBSE | Sector 49 | Sohna Road |
| Delhi Public School Gurgaon | CBSE | Sector 45 | Central Gurugram |
| Delhi Public School, Gurugram Sector 84 | CBSE | Sector 84 | New Gurugram |
| Heritage Xperiential Learning School | CBSE | Sector 62 | Golf Course Extension Road |
| Shiv Nadar School | CBSE (also IB MYP, Cambridge IGCSE, IB DP) | DLF City Phase 1 | Golf Course Road |
| Suncity School | CBSE | Sector 54 | Golf Course Road |
Delhi Public School Gurgaon in Sector 45 and Delhi Public School, Gurugram Sector 84 are two separate schools with separate CBSE affiliations, so check which campus your child attends before you brief a tutor. For subject help on this board, see our pages for CBSE home tutors, CBSE maths tutors and CBSE science tutors in Gurgaon.
ICSE and ISC (CISCE) schools in Gurugram
CISCE runs the ICSE examination at the end of Class 10 and the ISC examination at the end of Class 12. Two schools on our list appear in the CISCE school locator for Gurugram:
- Scottish High International School, Sector 57 (Golf Course Extension Road): ICSE and ISC are among the programmes it lists.
- The Shri Ram School, Moulsari campus, DLF City Phase 3 (Golf Course Road): ICSE in Classes 9 and 10 and ISC in Classes 11 and 12, as the school states.
The ICSE years ask for a tutor who is at ease with CISCE's own syllabus rather than the NCERT books. Our pages for ICSE home tutors, ICSE maths, ICSE physics, ICSE chemistry and ICSE biology cover this board in depth.
IB schools in Gurugram: PYP, MYP and Diploma as each school lists them
The IB has separate programmes by age, and a school may be authorised for some and not others. Here is what each school on our list states:
| School | IB programmes stated | Sector / area |
|---|---|---|
| Lancers International School | PYP (Foundation to Grade 5), MYP (Grades 6 to 10), DP (Grades 11 and 12) | Sector 53, DLF Phase 5 |
| Scottish High International School | PYP and DP | Sector 57 |
| Shiv Nadar School | MYP (Grades 6 to 10) and DP (Grades 11 and 12) | DLF City Phase 1 |
| The Shri Ram School (Moulsari) | DP (Classes 11 and 12) | DLF City Phase 3 |
Notice the gap that matters for tutoring: not every IB school in the list runs the MYP, so a child may move from a different middle-years curriculum straight into the Diploma. The MYP, which the IB describes as a programme for students aged 11 to 16, assesses each subject against four criteria rather than a single exam mark, with optional on-screen eAssessment at the end. See IB tutors in Gurgaon, IB MYP maths tutors and, for the Diploma years, IB maths tutors.
Cambridge and Edexcel schools in Gurugram
Four schools on our list state Cambridge IGCSE, usually in Grades 9 and 10:
- Lancers International School, Sector 53, DLF Phase 5: Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10.
- Scottish High International School, Sector 57: Cambridge IGCSE.
- Shiv Nadar School, DLF City Phase 1: Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10.
- The Shri Ram School (Moulsari), DLF City Phase 3: IGCSE in Classes 9 and 10, with Cambridge Lower Secondary in Classes 6 to 8.
None of the ten schools on our list states Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, so we do not name any Edexcel school here. If your child's school uses Edexcel, the papers, specifications and grade boundaries are different from Cambridge, and the tutor should know which one your child sits; our guide to Cambridge vs Edexcel IGCSE explains the difference. For subject help, see IGCSE tutors, IGCSE maths and IGCSE science in Gurgaon.
Haryana Board (BSEH) schools
Our current list of named schools does not include a Haryana Board school, so we do not name one. BSEH schools across Gurugram follow the Board of School Education Haryana syllabus; in 2026-27 its Class 10 Mathematics is an 80-mark annual exam plus 20 marks of internal assessment, and Class 10 Science is an 80-mark exam with a 10-mark practical and 10 marks of internal assessment. The Class 10 maths units follow the NCERT Class 10 book, which helps when a family later moves to a CBSE school. Our page on Haryana Board tutors in Gurgaon covers this board.
Schools that run more than one board, and what it means for tuition
Several schools on our list run two or more curricula. Shiv Nadar School states CBSE alongside IB MYP, IGCSE and the IB Diploma. Lancers International School states IB PYP, MYP, IGCSE and DP. The Shri Ram School's Moulsari campus states ICSE/ISC, IGCSE and the IB Diploma. Scottish High International School lists ICSE/ISC, IGCSE, IB PYP and IB DP.
For tuition, this has three practical effects:
- Say the programme, not just the school. "Grade 9 at a school that runs IGCSE and CBSE" tells a tutor nothing until you say which stream your child is in.
- Watch the switch years. Children often change programme between Grade 8 and 9 (into IGCSE or ICSE) or between Grade 10 and 11 (into the IB Diploma or ISC). The content gap is often small but the style gap is large. Our guide to switching from CBSE to IB or IGCSE deals with this.
- Siblings may need different tutors. A tutor who suits a younger child in CBSE may not suit an older sibling in the IB Diploma, even at the same school.
What a tutor must know for each board, in one table
These points come from each board's own published syllabus or regulations for the years shown.
| Board | Key facts a tutor should know | What to ask the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| CBSE (2026-27) | Class 9 uses the new NCERT books (Ganita Manjari, Exploration); optional Mathematics Advanced and Science Advanced from Class 9; two Class 10 Board exams, the first compulsory; 80-mark papers plus 20 marks of internal assessment. | Have you looked at the new Class 9 books and the Advanced syllabus? |
| ICSE (2027 exam) | Mathematics is one 3-hour, 80-mark paper plus 20 marks of internal assessment; Science is three separate 2-hour papers (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), each with 20 marks of practical work. | Which ICSE paper do you teach most often? |
| IB MYP | Ages 11 to 16; maths and sciences each marked on four criteria (A to D), levels 1 to 8; eAssessment is optional. | How do you help with Criterion B and Criterion D tasks? |
| Cambridge IGCSE | Mathematics 0580 has Core and Extended tiers; Physics, Chemistry and Biology have Core or Extended theory plus a practical or alternative-to-practical paper; a March exam series is offered in India. | Is my child on Core or Extended, and how would you decide? |
| Haryana Board (2026-27) | Class 10 Mathematics 80 + 20; Class 10 Science 80 + 10 practical + 10 internal assessment. | Have you used the current BSEH question paper design? |
For the IB Diploma, ISC and Classes 11 and 12, the questions change again, and our IB and IGCSE guide for Gurgaon parents goes further.
Five questions to ask a tutor about your child's board
- "Which board and class have you taught in the last two years?" Recent experience matters because CBSE brought in new Class 9 books in 2026-27 and Cambridge publishes its syllabuses for fixed exam years.
- "Can you show me how you would mark this answer?" Hand over a recent school test. A tutor who knows the board will point to the steps, units or criteria that lost marks.
- "What does the internal assessment involve this year?" CBSE portfolios and lab work, ICSE practical files and MYP tasks all carry real marks.
- "How will you use the school's own books and worksheets?" A good tutor starts from what the school sets, not a separate guidebook.
- "What will you do in the first month?" Expect a short diagnostic, a plan for the next school test, and a clear way to report back to you.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check which board my child's school in Gurgaon follows?
Ask the school, then confirm it in the board's own directory: the CBSE SARAS affiliated-schools search, the CISCE school locator, the IB World School search or the Cambridge school search. Check that the campus listed matches the one your child attends.
Is this list a ranking of Gurgaon schools?
No. It is an alphabetical list of ten schools chosen to cover each board and different parts of the city. It says nothing about quality, results or admissions, and NXTutors has no tie-up with any of them.
Which schools in this list follow ICSE in Gurugram?
Scottish High International School in Sector 57 and The Shri Ram School's Moulsari campus in DLF City Phase 3 both appear in the CISCE locator and state ICSE and ISC.
My child's school offers both CBSE and IGCSE. Which tutor do we need?
One who teaches the programme your child is enrolled in. CBSE and IGCSE overlap in content, but the papers, tiers and question style differ, so tell the tutor the exact programme and grade.
Does NXTutors have tutors for Haryana Board students?
You can ask us for a tutor for the BSEH syllabus in the same way as for any other board. Tell us the class, subject and area, and see our Haryana Board tutors page for Gurgaon for how the Class 10 papers are set.
Can one tutor handle two boards for siblings?
Sometimes, especially in the middle school years where content overlaps. For Classes 9 and above, a tutor who knows each board's papers in detail is usually the safer choice.
