What home tuition costs in Gurgaon

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

JEE chemistry tutor in Gurgaon: one subject, three ways of thinking

The short answer: a JEE chemistry tutor in Gurugram earns their place by finding out which of the three branches is costing your child marks, then using the right method for that branch. Physical chemistry is fixed with numericals written in full. Organic chemistry is fixed by teaching electron movement until reactions stop looking random. Inorganic chemistry is fixed by a short, regular NCERT recall routine. Many JEE students are already in coaching, so the tutor works from the coaching sheets and tests rather than starting a parallel course. This guide sets out what the NTA syllabus contains, how to diagnose the weak branch, three worked mini-examples, a Class 11 and Class 12 plan, the extra ground JEE Advanced covers, and what to test when you meet a tutor for the free demo.

How chemistry sits inside the JEE Main paper

The 2026 JEE Main Paper 1 ran for three hours on computer and combined mathematics, physics and chemistry. Chemistry carried 25 questions worth 100 marks: Section A held 20 MCQs, and Section B held five questions needing a typed numerical answer. Each right answer earned +4, each wrong one cost −1, and a blank scored 0; the negative mark applied to the numerical section too. Numerical answers were typed as integers, rounded to the nearest whole number, on an on-screen keypad. There were two sessions, in January and April 2026.

Two practical points follow for chemistry. First, because a wrong numerical answer costs a mark, guessing in Section B is a choice, not a free shot; students need a habit of checking units and orders of magnitude before typing. Second, many students find chemistry questions quicker to answer than maths or physics ones, so time saved here funds the harder sections. A tutor who builds speed with accuracy in chemistry is helping the whole paper. These figures describe the 2026 cycle; check the 2027 bulletin when NTA publishes it.

The 20 chemistry units in the NTA syllabus

The NTA's JEE Main 2026 syllabus groups chemistry into 20 units under three headings. This is the map a tutor should plan against, whatever order the school or coaching follows:

JEE Main 2026 Chemistry: units by branch (NTA syllabus)
BranchUnitsWhat the work feels like
Physical (units 1–8)Some Basic Concepts in Chemistry; Atomic Structure; Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure; Chemical Thermodynamics; Solutions; Equilibrium; Redox Reactions and Electrochemistry; Chemical KineticsCalculation, units, graphs; closest to physics
Inorganic (units 9–12)Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties; p-Block Elements; d- and f-Block Elements; Coordination CompoundsTrends, exceptions and recall
Organic (units 13–20)Purification and Characterisation of Organic Compounds; Some Basic Principles of Organic Chemistry; Hydrocarbons; Organic Compounds Containing Halogens; Organic Compounds Containing Oxygen; Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen; Biomolecules; Principles Related to Practical ChemistryMechanisms, conversions, functional-group logic

Two things in the unit list surprise families. Organic chemistry is eight of the twenty units, and it is cumulative: unit 14, the basic principles (inductive effect, resonance, hyperconjugation, carbocation and free-radical stability), decides how comfortable the student will be in every organic unit that follows. And the last unit, Principles Related to Practical Chemistry, asks about the chemistry behind laboratory work: salt analysis, the detection of functional groups and titrations such as oxalic acid against KMnO4. Students who treat school practicals as a formality meet those ideas again in the entrance paper.

Diagnosing the weak branch before teaching

Few JEE students are equally strong in all three branches. A tutor's first job is to find where the marks go, not to start at chapter one. A sound diagnosis uses the student's own recent coaching tests and a short mixed set of questions:

Physical: is it the chemistry or the arithmetic?

Ask the student to solve a mole or equilibrium problem aloud. If the set-up is right but the answer is wrong, the problem is arithmetic, powers of ten or units, and it is fixed by writing every step. If the set-up is wrong, the concept (limiting reagent, the meaning of K, what a buffer does) needs re-teaching.

Organic: can they predict, or only recall?

Give a reaction the student has not memorised and ask what happens and why. A student who can name the intermediate and say which way electrons move is ready for conversions. One who can only recall named reactions is memorising a list that will keep growing, and needs unit 14 rebuilt.

Inorganic: is the NCERT text actually known?

Ten quick recall questions from the NCERT p-block or d-block chapters show it at once. Inorganic marks are lost to gaps in reading, not to difficulty, which is why a routine works better than long lectures.

The diagnosis should end with a short written note: which branch comes first, which units inside it, and what will show the repair is working. If a tutor cannot produce that after the first couple of sessions, the plan is guesswork. For a longer discussion of the three branches, read our JEE chemistry guide to physical, organic and inorganic.

Worked mini-examples: the method a tutor should teach

These are original practice problems written for this page. They are short on purpose: each shows the habit that decides marks in its branch.

1. Limiting reagent (physical chemistry, unit 1)

14 g of nitrogen and 4.0 g of hydrogen react to form ammonia. What mass of ammonia forms, and which gas is left over?

  • Balanced equation first: N2 + 3H2 → 2NH3.
  • Moles: N2 = 14 ÷ 28 = 0.5 mol; H2 = 4.0 ÷ 2 = 2.0 mol.
  • 0.5 mol of N2 needs 3 × 0.5 = 1.5 mol of H2. We have 2.0 mol, so nitrogen is limiting.
  • NH3 formed = 2 × 0.5 = 1.0 mol = 17 g. Hydrogen left = 2.0 − 1.5 = 0.5 mol = 1.0 g.

The mistake students make is comparing the masses (14 g against 4 g) and calling hydrogen limiting because it is the smaller number. Writing the mole ratio before calculating anything removes that error for good.

2. Equilibrium constant as an integer answer (physical chemistry, unit 6)

1.0 mol of N2O4 is placed in a 1.0 L flask. At equilibrium, 20% of it has dissociated: N2O4 ⇌ 2NO2. Find Kc, and give 100 × Kc as an integer.

  • Dissociated: 0.20 mol, so N2O4 left = 0.80 mol; NO2 formed = 2 × 0.20 = 0.40 mol.
  • Concentrations in 1.0 L: [N2O4] = 0.80 mol L−1, [NO2] = 0.40 mol L−1.
  • Kc = [NO2]2 ÷ [N2O4] = 0.16 ÷ 0.80 = 0.20 mol L−1, so 100 × Kc = 20.

The usual slip is forgetting to square [NO2], or using 0.20 mol for NO2 instead of 0.40. In a numerical-value question there is no option list to catch the error, which is why a tutor should make the student write the ICE table (initial, change, equilibrium) every time, even when it feels slow.

3. One mechanism step (organic chemistry, unit 15)

Propene reacts with HBr. Which product forms, and why? What changes if a peroxide is present?

  • The π electrons of the double bond attack H+. The proton can add to either carbon of the double bond.
  • Adding H+ to the end CH2 gives a secondary carbocation, CH3–CH+–CH3; adding it to the middle carbon would give a less stable primary carbocation. The secondary one forms.
  • Br− attacks that carbocation, giving 2-bromopropane: Markownikoff's rule, explained rather than memorised.
  • With a peroxide, the reaction runs through free radicals instead, and the main product is 1-bromopropane (the peroxide effect, which applies to HBr).

Once a student can explain this one step by carbocation stability, the same idea carries through to alkene hydration, alcohol dehydration and many conversion questions. That is the difference between learning organic chemistry and collecting reactions.

The NCERT inorganic recall routine

Inorganic chemistry in the NTA syllabus is four units, but the questions lean heavily on what the NCERT text says: trends, exceptions, colours, oxidation states and the properties of named compounds such as K2Cr2O7 and KMnO4. Long revision sessions before a test do little here. A short routine, repeated, does a lot:

  1. One NCERT section at a time. The student reads a single section closely, with a pencil, and marks every fact that could become a question.
  2. Make the questions, not just the notes. Each marked fact becomes a one-line question on a card or in a notebook: "Oxidation state of Mn in KMnO4?" (+7). "What does acidified KMnO4 become when it is reduced?" (Mn2+).
  3. Mixed recall at the start of each tutor session. Ten questions drawn from all the sections done so far, not just this week's. Mixing is what makes the facts last.
  4. Errors go on a separate list. Anything missed twice is reviewed again at the next session and the one after.
  5. Trends before exceptions. The tutor teaches the general trend first, then each exception with its reason (the inert pair effect in heavier p-block elements, for example), so the exceptions have somewhere to attach.

The same routine helps biomolecules, which also rewards close NCERT reading. It costs little time and the student can run most of it alone; the tutor's role is to keep it going and to check the questions are the right ones.

What JEE Advanced adds for chemistry

JEE Advanced 2026 was sat on computer only, with question papers in English and Hindi: two compulsory papers of three hours, each split into physics, chemistry and mathematics. Only the first 2,50,000 successful candidates in JEE Main Paper 1 were eligible, and a candidate can attempt it at most twice, in consecutive years. Per the brochure, negative marking can apply to some questions, and candidates learn the scheme from the instructions on exam day, so no tutor can promise a fixed pattern in advance.

The syllabus is the part chemistry students most often overlook. The JEE Advanced 2026 brochure lists chemistry headings that are not unit titles in the JEE Main syllabus, among them States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Solid State, Surface Chemistry, Hydrogen, s-Block Elements, Isolation of Metals, Environmental Chemistry, Polymers and Chemistry in Everyday Life. Anyone revising only from the Main unit list can reach the Advanced paper with gaps. If Advanced is the target, the tutor should plan from the jeeadv.ac.in syllabus as well as the NTA one, and mark which extra topics the school course already covers. Advanced questions also tend to combine ideas across units, so the organic and physical foundations above matter even more.

How a home tutor plans Class 11 and Class 12 chemistry

Schools and coaching batches order chapters differently, so the tutor follows their sequence and fills around it. The shape below is typical for a student in coaching who wants one-to-one support in chemistry:

A typical two-year JEE chemistry plan with a tutor
PeriodTutor's focus
Class 11, first termMole concept and atomic structure secured; start the inorganic routine with periodicity; organic basic principles taught slowly and properly
Class 11, second termThermodynamics and equilibrium numericals; hydrocarbons mechanisms; school exams protected
Class 12, first termSolutions, electrochemistry and kinetics; the oxygen- and nitrogen-containing organic units; d-block and coordination compounds through the routine
Class 12, second termBiomolecules and practical chemistry; board preparation; mixed chemistry papers from the whole syllabus
Between the board exams and the exam sessionsTimed chemistry sections, error lists, and for Advanced students the extra topics listed above

Many students in coaching do better with a focused doubt-and-test session each week than with extra teaching hours. The tutor reads the latest coaching test before the session, so the hour goes on what actually went wrong. Families still deciding between coaching and a tutor can read JEE preparation in Gurgaon: coaching or a home tutor.

School boards and the chemistry gap

The board a student sits in Class 11 and 12 changes how much a JEE chemistry tutor has to add. CBSE students study from NCERT, which the NTA syllabus follows closely, so the work is mostly depth and speed. ISC students cover much of the same chemistry but in a different order and with longer written answers, so the tutor charts which NTA units arrive in which school term. Students coming from IB or IGCSE first need a list of which NTA chemistry units their course never taught, before any practice starts. Students who did ICSE chemistry up to Class 10 usually arrive with a good base in inorganic tests and equations; our ICSE chemistry tutor in Gurgaon page covers that stage.

For board-only chemistry in Classes 11 and 12, see the chemistry home tutor in Gurgaon page. Students choosing between engineering and medicine will find the chemistry overlap, and the different exam style, on our NEET chemistry tutor in Gurgaon page.

Fitting chemistry tuition into a Gurugram week

A JEE student's week in Gurugram is crowded: school, coaching on several evenings, and homework. In practice, the deciding factor for a home tutor is road time at the hour of the session, not distance on a map. Evening office traffic on the main corridors, Golf Course Road, Sohna Road and the roads round Cyber City, makes a cross-city tutor late on weekdays. So most families settle on one of three set-ups:

  • Home at the weekend, online on weekdays. A longer home session for a full test review or an organic unit, with short online doubt sessions after coaching days. This suits newer sectors with fewer tutors close by, such as those covered on our New Gurugram and Dwarka Expressway zone pages.
  • Two home sessions on non-coaching days. Practical where many tutors live locally, for example around Palam Vihar and the older sectors on our Old Gurugram zone page.
  • All online. Works well for physical chemistry numericals and recall checks, and widens the choice of specialists. Organic mechanisms are easier to correct with a tutor beside the student, so some families add an occasional home session for that alone.

School terms set the rhythm too. Class 11 and 12 school exams, practical files and pre-boards all take time away from entrance practice, and a good tutor plans around them rather than pretending they are not there. Families on Golf Course Extension Road and Sohna Road, near our Sector 66 office, can browse the Sector 56 and Nirvana Country area pages, or every sector and society on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon.

Choosing and testing a JEE chemistry tutor in the free demo

From your shortlist of two or three chemistry tutors, pick one for the free demo class, and make that hour do some work:

  1. Bring a real test. The student's latest coaching or school chemistry test, with the wrong answers left in. Watch whether the tutor sorts errors into concept, calculation and reading, or simply re-solves them.
  2. Ask for one mechanism explained. Pick any organic reaction from the coaching sheet. A strong tutor explains it through intermediates and electron movement, and then asks the student to predict a related one.
  3. Ask about the inorganic plan. "How will my child keep the p-block and d-block facts?" should get a concrete routine, not "we will revise before the exam".
  4. Ask about Main and Advanced. A tutor should know that the Advanced syllabus has chemistry headings beyond the Main unit list.
  5. Ask what happens next. A good tutor can name the next four weeks of chemistry units and the check at the end of them.

Not convinced after the hour? Say so, and a different shortlisted tutor runs the next demo; changing tutor later is also free of charge. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. You can read how the ID check works.

Fees and getting started

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every chemistry tutor fixes their own rate, shown to you ahead of the demo. Experience, travel and session count all shape a rate; see home tuition fees in Gurgaon.

To start, share the student's class, their school board, the exam aimed at (Main alone, or Advanced too), which chemistry branch feels weakest, the coaching days, where you live in Gurugram, and the evenings or weekend hours you can offer. If more than one subject needs help, see the JEE maths tutor and JEE physics tutor pages for Gurgaon, or the JEE home tutor in Gurgaon page for how families plan all three subjects around a Gurugram week.

JEE Chemistry Home Tutor in Gurgaon (Main & Advanced): common questions

How much does a JEE chemistry tutor charge in Gurgaon?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each JEE chemistry tutor in Gurugram fixes their own rate, shaped by experience, travel and session count, and shown to you before the demo.

How do I get matched with a JEE chemistry tutor in Gurgaon?

To get matched with a JEE chemistry tutor in Gurgaon, share the class, board, target exam, weakest branch, coaching days, your area and free hours. We shortlist two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

How was chemistry tested in JEE Main 2026 for Gurgaon aspirants?

For Gurgaon aspirants, chemistry in JEE Main 2026 was one of three subjects in the three-hour Paper 1, with 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value questions worth 100 marks. Each question scored +4, −1 or 0, including numericals typed as integers. Check the 2027 bulletin when NTA publishes it.

Which chemistry units are in the JEE Main syllabus that Gurgaon students follow?

Gurgaon students follow the NTA's 2026 JEE Main chemistry syllabus of 20 units: eight physical, four inorganic and eight organic. Organic is cumulative, so unit 14 on basic principles shapes every later organic unit. The last unit, Principles Related to Practical Chemistry, covers salt analysis, functional-group tests and titrations.

My Gurgaon child is in coaching; what does a separate JEE chemistry tutor add?

A separate JEE chemistry tutor adds one-to-one diagnosis and repair for a Gurgaon student already in coaching. The tutor works from the coaching sheets and tests, finds whether marks go in physical, organic or inorganic chemistry, and fixes that branch: numericals in full, mechanisms through intermediates, or an NCERT recall routine for inorganic.

Is JEE Advanced chemistry different from JEE Main chemistry for Gurgaon students?

Yes, JEE Advanced chemistry covers ground beyond JEE Main for Gurgaon students. The JEE Advanced 2026 brochure lists headings that are not Main unit titles, such as Solid State, Surface Chemistry, s-Block Elements, Isolation of Metals and Polymers. Its marking scheme is shown only at exam time, so plan from both syllabuses.

How should a Gurgaon JEE student revise inorganic chemistry?

A Gurgaon JEE student should revise inorganic chemistry little and often from the NCERT text, not in long sessions before a test. Read one section closely, turn each fact into a one-line question, and answer a mixed set from all earlier sections at each tutor session. Facts missed twice go on an error list for the next week.

Which JEE chemistry mistakes cost Gurgaon students the most marks?

Gurgaon JEE students lose the most chemistry marks by leaving inorganic to the final months, typing numericals without a sense check and learning reagents without reasons. Skipping Class 11 physical chemistry and doing many tests without analysing them also hurt. Sorting every wrong answer into concept, calculation or reading error fixes most of it.

Should JEE chemistry sessions be at home on weekends or online after coaching in Gurugram?

For JEE chemistry in Gurugram, many families pair a weekend home session for test review or organic chemistry with short online sessions after coaching days. Evening traffic slows weekday travel. All-online suits numericals and recall checks, while organic mechanisms are easier to correct with a tutor beside the student.

What should we test in a free demo with a JEE chemistry tutor in Gurgaon?

In a free demo with a JEE chemistry tutor in Gurgaon, bring the latest coaching test with mistakes left in and watch how the tutor sorts errors. Ask them to explain one organic mechanism and how your child will keep inorganic facts. At the end, ask for a plan for the next four weeks.
