Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Class 11 and 12 biology home tutor in Gurgaon works with PCB students through the two years that set up both the board result and NEET: diversity, cells, plant and human physiology in Class 11, then reproduction, genetics and evolution, human welfare, biotechnology and ecology in Class 12. NXTutors shortlists two or three biology tutors who teach your child's board (CBSE, ISC or the IB Diploma) and can reach your sector or teach online; each fee is shown before you book and the first class is a free demo. This page covers the 2026-27 CBSE unit marks, how the two years connect, four short worked problems, a plan for each year and how to judge a tutor.
In Class 10, biology is one part of a science paper. From Class 11 it is a full subject of its own, and three things change at once. The vocabulary grows sharply, with plant and animal classification, cell organelles and physiological terms arriving in the first term. The diagrams become examinable in detail: a heart, a nephron or a flower section must be drawn and labelled correctly. And the answers become processes, such as how a nerve impulse travels or how a chromosome behaves in meiosis, which must be told in the right order.
Biology is often called a "reading subject", and NCERT reading does matter, but students who only read tend to forget. A tutor's value is in turning reading into recall: short oral questions, flowcharts the student draws from memory, diagram practice and regular written answers. For biology across every board and class, see our biology tutors in Gurgaon page.
CBSE Biology (subject code 044) is a 3-hour, 70-mark theory paper in each year, plus 30 marks of practical work. The Class 11 units for 2026-27 are:
| Unit | Marks | What a tutor works on |
|---|---|---|
| Diversity of Living Organisms | 15 | Classification as a logical system, not a list; examples learnt in groups |
| Structural Organisation in Plants and Animals | 10 | Morphology and anatomy diagrams, labelled from memory |
| Cell: Structure and Function | 15 | Organelles, biomolecules, and mitosis and meiosis stage by stage |
| Plant Physiology | 12 | Photosynthesis and respiration as connected pathways |
| Human Physiology | 18 | Each organ system as a flowchart, with its diagram |
| Theory total | 70 | Practical work adds 30 |
Human Physiology is the largest unit at 18 marks, but the cell unit and diversity together carry 30, and they come first in most schools. A student who falls behind in classification in the first term carries that gap all year.
| Unit | Marks | What a tutor works on |
|---|---|---|
| Reproduction | 16 | Flower, gametogenesis and embryo diagrams; the order of events |
| Genetics and Evolution | 20 | Crosses, pedigrees and the molecular basis of inheritance, worked as problems |
| Biology and Human Welfare | 12 | Diseases, immunity and microbes, learnt with exact terms |
| Biotechnology and its Applications | 12 | The steps of recombinant DNA work, in sequence, with the tools named |
| Ecology and Environment | 10 | Population and ecosystem ideas, with simple calculations |
| Theory total | 70 | Practical work adds 30 |
Reproduction and Genetics and Evolution together carry 36 of the 70 marks. Genetics is the unit most students fear and also the one that rewards practice most directly, because its questions are problems with right answers. The practical adds 30 marks; a tutor checks the record as the year goes and rehearses spotting, slides and the viva before the exam.
Students who move from IGCSE into CBSE or ISC for Class 11 usually need help with the volume of NCERT detail rather than the ideas. Say which board your child is leaving in the request.
| Learnt in Class 11 | Needed again in Class 12 |
|---|---|
| Meiosis and the behaviour of chromosomes | Gametogenesis in Reproduction; segregation and independent assortment in Genetics |
| Biomolecules: nucleic acids, proteins and enzymes | The molecular basis of inheritance and every step of biotechnology |
| Flower morphology and plant anatomy | Sexual reproduction in flowering plants |
| Human physiology, especially body fluids and chemical coordination | Human reproduction, hormones in the menstrual cycle, immunity in human health and disease |
| Diversity and classification | Biodiversity and its conservation in Ecology |
A Class 12 student who struggles with genetics problems very often has a Class 11 gap in meiosis. A few diagnostic questions in the demo usually show it.
For PCB students, biology is the subject NEET weighs most heavily. In NEET (UG) 2026, biology had 90 of the 180 questions and 360 of the 720 marks, with +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one; the NMC syllabus has ten biology units. Its unit detail follows the NCERT chapters closely: Plant Physiology covers photosynthesis, respiration and plant growth and development; Human Physiology covers breathing, body fluids and circulation, excretion, locomotion, neural control and chemical coordination; Genetics and Evolution covers heredity and variation, the molecular basis of inheritance and evolution. (These are the 2026 bulletin and syllabus; check the 2027 documents when they are published.)
The overlap means one plan can serve both, with a difference in practice: the board wants full written answers and diagrams, NEET wants fast, exact recall of NCERT lines across many short questions. A tutor working beside coaching should test both every week. See NEET biology tutors in Gurgaon, the NEET home tutors in Gurgaon page and our guide to NEET coaching or a home tutor.
Question. A cell with 2n = 8 chromosomes goes through meiosis. How many chromosomes and chromatids does each cell have at the end of meiosis I, and at the end of meiosis II?
Students who count chromatids as chromosomes give 8 at the end of meiosis I; drawing the cell avoids it.
Question. Two tall pea plants, each heterozygous (Tt), are crossed. Give the genotype and phenotype ratios of the offspring.
Question. In a population in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, 16% of individuals show a recessive trait. What fraction are heterozygous carriers?
Question. Producers in a food chain fix 10,000 J of energy. Roughly how much reaches the tertiary consumers?
None of these is hard once practised, which is the point: biology has more "problem" marks than students expect, and they are among the most reliable on the paper.
Your school's chapter order comes first, but this shape suits most Gurugram PCB students:
The Class 11 and Class 12 Gurgaon guides show how biology fits with physics and chemistry in the PCB week; see also Class 11 and 12 chemistry and Class 11 and 12 physics.
Biology works well online for recall testing and NEET-style questions, and well at home for diagrams and long answers. Families in Sector 14 or Sector 50 can usually find a home tutor for after-school slots; in Sector 56 many PCB students fit tuition around coaching on the same evenings; in newer sectors such as Sector 108, a weekly home session with online classes between is a common plan. Every sector is listed on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon.
Send us the class, board, NEET plans if any, the weakest unit, your sector and the free slots. We shortlist two or three biology tutors, each with the fee shown, and you book a free demo class. Ask the tutor to:

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Parents often tell us their child's school so the tutor can follow the same board and books. These Gurugram schools follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as shown on each school's own site or its board's directory, with the sector each is in. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; tutors are matched by board and syllabus, and the list is alphabetical, not a ranking.

More on how these boards differ: Gurugram schools and their boards.
Human Physiology is the largest at 18 of the 70 theory marks, followed by Diversity of Living Organisms and Cell: Structure and Function at 15 each, Plant Physiology at 12 and Structural Organisation in Plants and Animals at 10. Diversity and the cell unit usually come first in the year, so falling behind there is costly.
Genetics and Evolution, at 20 of the 70 theory marks in 2026-27, followed by Reproduction at 16. Together they are more than half the paper. Biology and Human Welfare and Biotechnology and its Applications carry 12 each, and Ecology and Environment 10. The practical adds 30 marks.
Often, yes, for a different job. Coaching sets the pace and the question practice; a home tutor checks NCERT recall, repairs weak units such as genetics or human physiology, and keeps board answer writing and diagrams in shape. In NEET (UG) 2026, biology carried 360 of the 720 marks, so steady recall work pays off.
By treating them as problems, not reading. The student writes the parents, the gametes, the Punnett square and the ratio every time, then moves to pedigrees and the Hardy-Weinberg principle. Most mistakes trace back to Class 11 meiosis, so a good tutor checks that first.
Yes. Mention the board and level in your request. ISC biology has its own CISCE theory paper, practical and project, and IB Diploma Biology runs over Classes 11 and 12 at Standard or Higher Level with an internal investigation, so we shortlist tutors who teach that exact course.
Little and often, with testing rather than rereading. After each chapter, the student draws its diagrams from memory, writes a flowchart of each process and answers a few short questions in writing. A tutor sets and checks these each week, so gaps show up long before the school exam.
For recall testing, NEET-style questions and doubt clearing it works well. Diagrams and long answers are easier to check at the same table, so many Gurugram families use a weekly home session for those and online classes in between, especially in the newer sectors where fewer biology tutors live nearby.
