Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Maths is the subject Gurugram parents ask us about more than any other, and for good reason. It is cumulative, so a shaky chapter in Class 8 turns into a lost term in Class 10; it is examined very differently by CBSE, ICSE, the IB and Cambridge; and in a city where many families move between cities, countries and boards, it is the subject where a change of school hurts most. NXTutors is based in Sector 66, Gurugram. This guide explains how maths home tuition works across the city: which tutors suit which board and class, what changes in CBSE maths from 2026-27, how travel and traffic shape the timetable, what it costs, and how to tell in one demo class whether a maths tutor is right for your child.
You tell us the student's class, board and school year, the maths topics that are causing trouble, your sector or society, the days and times that work, whether you want home or online sessions, and a budget range. We then shortlist two or three maths tutors who fit all of it. A strong maths tutor is not automatically the right maths tutor: someone who has spent years on CBSE Class 12 calculus may not suit IB Maths Analysis and Approaches HL, and a JEE specialist may be too fast for a Class 7 student who has lost confidence with fractions.
The shortlist weighs the things that decide whether maths tuition actually works:
You then book a free demo class with the tutor you prefer. It is a normal maths lesson on whatever your child is studying that week, so you see how the tutor actually teaches. If it is not right, tell us and we set up the next tutor. Switching is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID.
On this page, Ajay Vatsyayan writes about IB, IGCSE and ISC maths, and Abhinandan Tiwary about Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths. For the general picture of maths tuition beyond Gurugram, see our maths home tutor page.
Gurugram splits into zones with their own school mix and their own traffic patterns, and both shape the kind of maths tutor a family needs. You can browse tutors near you on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon, where each sector and society has its own listing.
Families in DLF Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4 and Phase 5 follow a wide mix of CBSE, ICSE, IB and Cambridge courses, so maths requests here range from Class 10 CBSE board preparation to IB HL papers. Because homes are close together, tutors often teach several students in one phase on the same evening, which makes early-evening slots easier to find.
The high-rise societies along Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension Road send many requests for IB and IGCSE maths. They are often narrow and specific: help with an IB maths internal assessment, MYP criterion work, or moving from IGCSE Core to Extended. Many societies limit visitor entry after a set hour, so we confirm gate timings when we fix the slot. Our office is on this stretch, in Sector 66.
Around South City 2, Sushant Lok Phase I, Nirvana Country, Ardee City and Vatika City, most requests are for CBSE and ICSE maths in Classes 9 to 12, and for JEE maths alongside coaching. Sohna Road is slow in the evening, so a tutor on your side of the road is usually worth waiting a day for. Sectors such as Sector 43, Sector 56 and Sector 57 sit between this zone and Golf Course Road and draw tutors from both.
In newer societies such as M3M Urbana, Emaar Palm Drive and Emaar Palm Hills, and the sectors off NH-48 and Dwarka Expressway, many families moved in recently and the number of maths tutors living nearby is still catching up. Weekend mornings are easier to fill than weekday evenings here, and a hybrid plan (one home visit a week plus online sessions) often gets a stronger tutor than insisting on all home visits.
The older city, including Palam Vihar and colonies such as Greenwood City nearer the centre, has many long-standing maths tutors who have taught CBSE board classes for years. Demand is strongest for CBSE Class 9 to 12 maths and for steady, no-frills practice through NCERT and previous years' papers.
Gurugram students sit four main kinds of maths exam. The mathematics overlaps a great deal; what differs is the order topics come in, the depth, the question style and how marks are given. That is why we match maths tutors by board first. Each board has its own deeper page; this section is the short version.
CBSE maths is built on the NCERT textbooks, and CBSE says about half of Board questions are now competency-based (case-based, data-based and application questions). The scheme is changing from 2026-27; the next section sets out what is new. Abhinandan Tiwary leads our Class 10 CBSE maths guidance; for unit tables and marking, see the CBSE maths tutor in Gurgaon page.
ICSE maths (CISCE subject 51) is one 80-mark, 3-hour paper plus 20 marks of internal assessment, and Class 10 covers more ground than CBSE at the same level: commercial mathematics (GST, recurring deposits, shares and dividends), matrices, and both arithmetic and geometric progressions. Students often struggle less with difficulty than with volume and speed. ISC maths in Classes 11 and 12 is a further step up, and a tutor must know the exact syllabus the student is sitting. Abhinandan Tiwary leads on ICSE Class 10 and Ajay Vatsyayan on ISC. Read more in our ICSE Class 10 maths guide.
In the Middle Years Programme (ages 11 to 16), maths is assessed on four criteria, from knowing and understanding to applying mathematics in real-life contexts, each on levels 1 to 8; our IB MYP maths tutor in Gurgaon page explains them. Diploma students take Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) or Applications and Interpretation (AI), at Standard or Higher Level, and write a mathematical exploration that a tutor may guide but must never write. Ajay Vatsyayan leads our IB maths work; see our IB Maths AA/AI SL/HL guide.
IGCSE Mathematics 0580 has two tiers. Core candidates can reach grades C to G; Extended candidates sit longer papers and can reach A* to E. At each tier one paper is non-calculator, so written arithmetic matters again. Cambridge runs June and November series, plus a March series in India. Ajay Vatsyayan leads our IGCSE maths guidance; see our IGCSE Core and Extended maths guide.
| Board | What students usually need help with | What to look for in a tutor |
|---|---|---|
| CBSE | NCERT exercises, competency-based questions, step-by-step working, time in the paper | Works from NCERT and sample papers; knows the 2026-27 changes |
| ICSE / ISC | Syllabus volume, commercial maths, full working | Knows the CISCE syllabus for the student's exam year |
| IB MYP / DP | Criteria (MYP); course level and the exploration (DP) | Has taught the current IB course; guides the exploration without writing it |
| Cambridge IGCSE | Core versus Extended, command words, non-calculator papers | Builds lessons around past papers and mark schemes |
Families often ask which board a particular school follows: for example, Blue Bells Model School (Sector 4) and Delhi Public School Gurgaon (Sector 45) follow CBSE, while Lancers International School (DLF Phase 5) offers IB MYP and Cambridge IGCSE and The Shri Ram School (DLF City Phase 3) offers ICSE and ISC, Cambridge IGCSE and the IB Diploma. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; we match tutors on the course your child sits, not the school name. Our guide to Gurgaon schools by board explains what each board means for tuition.
Most Gurugram maths requests are for CBSE, and 2026-27 brings the biggest change to CBSE secondary maths in years. The facts below are from CBSE's 2026-27 curriculum and its Board exam notifications.
For a tutor this changes the Class 9 plan: the new book has to be taught as it is written, not from old notes, and an Advanced student needs extra time on algebraic reasoning. Our guide to CBSE Class 9 Advanced maths and science helps families decide whether to opt in.
Each class from 6 to 10 now has its own page with the chapter or unit map, typical sticking points and a term plan. In short:
| Class band | Main goal | Typical sessions a week |
|---|---|---|
| Classes 6 to 8 | Close gaps, build confidence and number sense | 1 to 2 |
| Class 9 | Secure algebra, geometry and the base for Class 10 | 2 |
| Class 10 | Board syllabus, chapter tests, timed papers | 2 to 3 |
| Classes 11 and 12 | Calculus, board and entrance preparation | 2 to 3 |
| IB / IGCSE | Course-specific papers, criteria (MYP), exploration guidance (DP) | 1 to 3, depending on level |
Quadratic Equations sits in the CBSE Class 10 algebra unit, which carries 20 of the paper's 80 marks. This is the kind of short question Abhinandan Tiwary's Class 10 guidance focuses on: easy to understand, easy to lose marks on.
Question. Find the roots of 2x² − 7x + 3 = 0 using the quadratic formula.
The usual slip is taking b as 7 instead of −7, which gives x = (−7 ± 5) ÷ 4, that is −½ or −3: both wrong, and a one-line substitution check exposes it at once. A tutor's job here is not the formula, which most students know, but the habit of writing a, b and c first, showing the discriminant as its own line, and checking a root, so that a slip late in the working costs one step rather than the whole question.
Most JEE aspirants in Gurugram attend coaching, and a maths home tutor works well alongside it: clearing doubts on the coaching sheets, repairing two or three weak chapters, and keeping board and entrance preparation in step. In JEE Main 2026, Mathematics was one of three 100-mark sections and the first tie-breaker. Our JEE maths tutor in Gurgaon page covers the syllabus and a Class 11 to 12 plan. For Classes 8 to 10, the IIT Foundation tutor in Gurgaon page explains how to build depth without coaching pressure.
Gurugram has many families who move for work, from other Indian cities or from abroad, and a move often brings a change of board. Maths is the subject where this bites hardest, because topics come in a different order and a student can arrive having missed a chapter the new class treats as known. The common cases:
Both work, and many Gurugram families use a mix. Home tuition suits younger students and students who drift on a screen, and in maths it has a real advantage: the tutor can watch the student write out working and correct a habit on the spot. Online tuition widens the choice (useful for IB HL or JEE maths, where specialists are fewer), removes travel time on roads such as Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road at peak hours, and makes late-evening or weekend-morning sessions easier. A shared digital whiteboard and a phone camera pointed at the notebook cover most of what a maths lesson needs.
A pattern that works well in Gurugram: one home session a week for hand-written practice and the relationship, plus one or two online sessions for doubts and tests. We can arrange home, online or hybrid tuition with the same tutor.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee. What moves a maths fee:
You see each shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo. For a fuller breakdown, see our pricing guide.
The right maths tutor is right for this student, on this course, this year. A demo class tells you more than any profile. During and after it, check:
If several answers are no, tell us and we set up a demo with the next tutor on the shortlist, at no charge. You can also browse all tutors yourself.
Tutors who join NXTutors go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. It is not a police or background check, so for home sessions most Gurugram families follow a few simple practices, and we recommend them:
Tell us your child's class, board and exact maths course, your sector or society, and the slots that suit you. We come back with two or three matched maths tutors, you choose one for a free demo class, and you decide after that. Book a free demo class, browse tutors, or start from our page of home tutors in Gurgaon.
Looking outside Gurugram? We also match maths tutors in cities across India.
Parents often tell us their child's school so the tutor can follow the same board and books. These Gurugram schools follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as shown on each school's own site or its board's directory, with the sector each is in. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; tutors are matched by board and syllabus, and the list is alphabetical, not a ranking.

Within that, the class and board, the level of maths, the tutor's experience, travel in peak traffic and the number of sessions a week all move the figure. You see each shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo, and we only shortlist tutors inside your budget.
Our tutors teach across Gurugram: the DLF phases and MG Road, Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension Road, Sohna Road, South City and Sushant Lok, the newer sectors off NH-48 and Dwarka Expressway, and Old Gurgaon including Palam Vihar. We match on travel time for your slot, not just distance, so tell us your sector or society and the time you want. In newer sectors a hybrid plan, with some sessions online, can widen the choice of tutor.
Yes. For IB we match tutors by course: Mathematics Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, at SL or HL, including guidance on the internal assessment (the tutor guides, but never writes it). For IGCSE we match on Core or Extended and build lessons around Cambridge past papers and mark schemes. Tell us the exact course your child is sitting, not just the school.
As early as possible, ideally at the start of the school session in April, so the tutor can cover the syllabus properly and still leave months for chapter tests and full papers. CBSE now holds two Class 10 Board exams: everyone sits the main exam, which starts in mid-February, and a second exam in May lets students who passed improve in up to three of Science, Mathematics, Social Science and languages. Plan to peak for February, not to rely on May. Two to three sessions a week is typical in Class 10, for CBSE and ICSE alike.
Yes. Tell us when you share your requirement and we shortlist female tutors who fit your child's class, board, locality and timing. In some sectors and time slots the choice may be narrower, in which case we tell you honestly and suggest options such as a different slot or online sessions.
Yes. We match by class as well as board, and each class from 6 to 10 has its own Gurgaon page with the chapter or unit map and a term plan: Class 6, 7 and 8 work from NCERT's Ganita Prakash books, Class 9 from the new Ganita Manjari, and Class 10 from the NCERT Mathematics book. Tell us the class, board and the chapters causing trouble, and we shortlist tutors who teach that class most often.
Yes. Online sessions remove travel time on busy roads and widen the choice of tutor, which helps for IB HL, IGCSE Extended or JEE maths. Many Gurgaon families use a mix: one home session a week for hand-written practice, plus one or two online sessions for doubts and tests. We can arrange home, online or hybrid tuition with the same tutor.
Yes. From 2026-27, CBSE Class 9 students may opt for Mathematics Advanced as well as the common Standard paper. It adds a 25-mark, 1-hour paper of higher-order questions on extra chapters: sets, logarithms, relations and functions, coordinate geometry, combinatorics and more progressions. The marks are not added to the total, and a score of 50% or more earns a marksheet note. A tutor can teach the extra chapters alongside the Standard book; ask for one who has read the new Advanced syllabus.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
