Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

"Economics tutor" means something different on Golf Course Extension Road than it does in Sector 14. In the high-rise societies where many children attend IB and Cambridge schools, it is likely to mean IB Economics at SL or HL, or IGCSE and A Level; in the older sectors, where most families look for CBSE and ICSE tutors, it is more likely to mean CBSE Class 11 statistics or Class 12 macroeconomics. NXTutors is based in Sector 66, Gurugram, and this page is about finding the right economics tutor in this city: which course needs which tutor, how the zones differ, and how IB students in particular can use a tutor well. The full board-by-board syllabus guide is on our national economics home tutor page.
Gurugram students sit five quite different economics courses. The economics overlaps; the exams do not. Before we shortlist, we ask for the exact course, because a tutor who is excellent at one can be out of step with another.
| Course | What decides the grade | Question for the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| IB Economics SL | Paper 1 extended response 30%, Paper 2 data response 40%, internal assessment portfolio 30% | How do you prepare students for data response questions? |
| IB Economics HL | Papers 1 and 2 plus a Paper 3 policy paper (30%); internal assessment 20% | How do you teach Paper 3, and what do you do and not do on the IA? |
| Cambridge AS & A Level 9708 | Multiple choice plus data response and essays; A Level essays are unstructured | Have you marked A Level essays against Cambridge mark schemes? |
| Cambridge IGCSE 0455 | A 40-question multiple-choice paper (30%) and a structured paper (70%) | Which recent past papers do you teach from? |
| CBSE Class 11–12 | 80-mark paper per year (statistics and micro in 11; macro and Indian economic development in 12) plus a 20-mark project | How do you teach the statistics numericals and prepare for the project viva? |
| ISC Class 11–12 | 80-mark paper, 60 of it from 12-mark questions, plus two projects | Can you work through timed 12-mark answers with my child? |
Mostly gated high-rise societies and DLF independent floors, with many families whose children are in IB, IGCSE or CBSE schools across the city. Around DLF Phase 3, DLF Phase 5 and Sector 43, office traffic builds from about six, so a slot that starts before 5 pm or after 7:30 pm is easier to keep. For IB and IGCSE, ask the tutor which papers and command terms they have taught recently, not just "economics".
Large gated societies, many of them newer, with many families in IB, IGCSE and CBSE schools; our office is here, in Sector 66. In Sector 56, Sector 57 and Sector 58, a specialist for IB HL Economics may live across the city; weekend home sessions with online classes in between often make that tutor possible.
Around South City 1 families commonly look for CBSE and ICSE tutors, with IB and IGCSE tutors for children in international schools, and the central location puts tutors from most of the city within reach. Off Sohna Road, near South City 2 and Sector 50, most families look for CBSE and ICSE tutors, with a growing number asking for IB and IGCSE; weekend mornings are a good slot when the road is quieter.
In the newer societies of Sector 106, Sector 108 and Sector 90, many families moved in mid-year and fewer tutors live nearby, so an online demo followed by a home demo is a quick way to try two economics tutors in a week. In Old Gurugram, including Sector 14 and Palam Vihar, many tutors live locally and most families look for CBSE tutors, and many for ICSE, from middle school up to Class 12.
For an IB Economics tutor on the Dwarka Expressway side, see our IB Economics tutor page for Sector 107. Zone guides with commute and timing detail: Golf Course Road and DLF, Golf Course Extension and SPR, Sohna Road and South City.
IB Economics students rarely need "the whole syllabus" from a tutor. The help that makes the most difference is usually on three specific things.
The IBO asks every SL and HL student for three commentaries on published news extracts, each on a different unit (not the introductory one) and each using a different key concept. The hard part is usually choosing: an article that looks interesting may offer too little economics to analyse. A tutor can practise the whole process on articles the student will not submit, and explain the criteria. The commentaries themselves must be entirely the student's work; a tutor who offers to draft or "polish" them is putting the student's diploma at risk.
Papers 1 and 2 reward diagrams that are correct, fully labelled and explained in the text. Students who understand the ideas often lose marks by drawing diagrams they never refer to, or by writing definitions in everyday language. Short, frequent drills with a tutor fix this faster than long revision sessions.
HL students sit a policy paper in which they work with data and recommend a policy for a given situation. It is the component least like anything in CBSE, ISC or IGCSE, so students coming from those boards benefit most from guided practice on it.
A practical tip for Gurugram IB families: agree with the tutor at the start of Year 1 which sessions are for content, which for exam technique, and when the IA practice happens, so that the school's internal deadlines do not collide with a burst of revision. Our parents' guide to IB and IGCSE tutoring in Gurgaon covers the wider picture, and the IB maths tutor in Gurgaon page helps if maths is the other HL subject.
The IB Diploma runs over two years, and schools set their own internal deadlines for the IA. The pacing below is a sensible starting point that a tutor adjusts once they know the school's calendar and the student's level.
| Stage | What the tutor focuses on | Sessions a week (a guide) |
|---|---|---|
| Year 1, first term | Microeconomics diagrams and definitions; reading news with an economist's eye | 1 |
| Year 1, rest of year | Macroeconomics; short data response practice; practice commentaries on articles that will not be submitted | 1–2 |
| While the IA is being written | Criteria and key concepts explained; content teaching continues; no drafting help | 1–2 |
| Year 2 | The global economy; full Paper 1 and 2 answers; Paper 3 practice for HL | 2 |
| Before mock and final exams | Timed papers, marked against IB criteria, with an error log | 2–3 |
Starting in Year 1 spreads the work more evenly than an intensive rescue in Year 2, and it leaves the IA period calm. In Gurugram, where evening traffic can eat into weekday sessions, one practical pattern is a fixed weekday online session plus a weekend session at home.
Many families on the Dwarka Expressway move in from other cities in the middle of a school year, often into a school on a different board. Economics is one of the subjects where a switch is felt quickly. The concepts carry over; the exam habits do not.
| Switch | What carries over | What needs work |
|---|---|---|
| IGCSE to IB Economics | Supply and demand, market failure, basic macroeconomics | Longer extended responses, the IA commentaries, and Paper 3 for HL |
| IGCSE to CBSE Class 11 | Microeconomic ideas and diagrams | Class 11 statistics (averages, correlation, index numbers) and NCERT-style answers |
| CBSE to IB Economics | Definitions, national income ideas | Evaluation and real-world examples in every answer; the IA |
| AS to full A Level | All of the AS content, which is assumed | Unstructured essays that the student must plan without prompts |
Tell us both boards when you ask for a tutor; we look for someone who has taught the student's new course and, ideally, handled that switch before. See also our guides to switching from CBSE to IB or IGCSE in Gurgaon and Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE. Families still choosing a school can see which board each listed school follows in our guide to Gurgaon schools by board.
For commerce and humanities students on CBSE, economics tuition usually starts with Class 11 statistics, which surprises students who dropped maths, and then shifts in Class 12 to macroeconomics numericals (national income, the multiplier) and the long answers of Indian economic development. CBSE also asks for a project each year, with a viva worth 8 of its 20 marks. For ISC students, 60 of the 80 theory marks come from 12-mark questions, so timed full answers are the heart of the work.
A short multiplier example shows the kind of working a tutor insists on. If the marginal propensity to consume (MPC) is 0.8, the investment multiplier is k = 1 ÷ (1 − MPC) = 1 ÷ 0.2 = 5. An extra ₹2,000 crore of investment then raises national income by 2,000 × 5 = ₹10,000 crore. Marks are lost when students skip the formula line, forget that the marginal propensity to save is 1 − MPC = 0.2, or give the answer without "crore". Written out in four lines, the same question is safe on CBSE, ISC and IB papers alike.
For commerce students who also take accountancy, our accountancy tutor in Gurgaon page covers that subject, the commerce home tutors in Gurgaon page plans the whole stream, and the Class 12 home tutor in Gurgaon page covers the board year as a whole. If your child plans to take CUET, board economics already covers the content of the Economics / Business Economics domain test; the extra work is speed on objective questions.
Economics adapts well to online tuition: diagrams on a shared whiteboard, articles opened together, essays marked on screen. That matters in Gurugram, where the right IB or A Level economics tutor may live on the other side of the city. A hybrid plan with one tutor often works well: a home session at the weekend for longer written work, and one or two online sessions on weekdays when traffic makes travel unreliable. For younger students, and for CBSE statistics, home sessions are often easier.
Our online tutoring in Gurgaon page explains how online classes are set up.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Travel time at your slot also affects what a Gurugram tutor asks. You see each shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo. See our Gurgaon home tuition fees guide and pricing guide.
Tell us the exact course (for example IB Economics HL, A Level 9708 or CBSE Class 12), what is going wrong, your sector or society, the slots that suit you, and whether you want home, online or both. We shortlist two or three economics tutors who fit, you choose one for a free demo class, and you decide after that. Switching tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. You can also browse tutor profiles or start from our page of home tutors in Gurgaon.
Parents often tell us their child's school so the tutor can follow the same board and books. These Gurugram schools follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as shown on each school's own site or its board's directory, with the sector each is in. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; tutors are matched by board and syllabus, and the list is alphabetical, not a ranking.

Yes, NXTutors finds IB Economics tutors near Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension Road in Gurgaon, matching the exact course and level first. Many families in these zones have children in IB and Cambridge schools. If the right IB HL specialist lives across the city, weekend home sessions with online classes in between avoid long weekday drives.
Gurgaon economics tutors on NXTutors teach IB Economics SL and HL, Cambridge IGCSE and AS and A Level Economics, and CBSE and ISC economics for Classes 11 and 12. Tell us the exact course and level, not just the school. We shortlist tutors who have taught it, and suggest online tutors where the local choice is thin.
An economics tutor can help a family that moved to Gurugram mid-year and changed board, by focusing on what the new course expects. Moving from IGCSE to IB, the tutor works on extended responses and the IA; moving into CBSE, on Class 11 statistics and NCERT-style answers. We look for a tutor who has taught the new course and, ideally, handled that switch.
Online economics tuition is often a good idea in Gurgaon, because the subject adapts well to screens and lets you choose a specialist across the city without weekday traffic. Many families use a hybrid with the same tutor: a weekend home session for longer written work and online sessions on weekdays.
Good times for economics tuition in Gurugram depend on your zone and the traffic at that hour. Around Golf Course Road, a slot starting before 5 pm or after 7:30 pm avoids the worst office traffic. Off Sohna Road, weekend mornings work well, and in newer sectors a fixed regular slot helps tutors plan their week.
NXTutors matches an economics tutor in Gurgaon by shortlisting two or three tutors for your exact course, level, sector and slot, with each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo on whatever your child is studying that week. If the fit is not right, we set up a demo with the next tutor, and switching tutor later is free.
Economics tutors who join NXTutors in Gurgaon go through an ID check: a one-time code on phone or email and a government photo ID that our team reviews. The profile badge appears only after that review. It is an identity check, not a police check, so meet the tutor at the demo.
A Gurgaon tutor helps with the IB Economics internal assessment portfolio by practising the whole commentary process on articles the student will not submit, and explaining the criteria. The IBO asks for three commentaries on published news extracts, each on a different unit and using a different key concept. The commentaries themselves must be entirely the student's work.
CBSE economics students in Gurgaon usually need help first with Class 11 statistics, then Class 12 macroeconomics numericals and Indian economic development. The numericals include national income and the multiplier. CBSE also asks for a project each year, with a viva worth 8 of its 20 marks. For ISC, 60 of the 80 theory marks come from 12-mark questions, so timed full answers matter.
