What home tuition costs in Gurgaon

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Physics home tutor in Gurgaon (Gurugram): Classes 11 and 12, IB, IGCSE, JEE and NEET

Physics is the subject Gurugram parents most often describe as "fine until suddenly it wasn't". A student who coasted through Class 10 electricity meets vectors, calculus-based kinematics and rotational motion in Class 11, and within a term the chapter tests look very different. Add the city's spread of boards (CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB and Cambridge IGCSE) and the fact that many students are also in JEE or NEET coaching, and it is easy to see why matching the right physics tutor matters more than finding any physics tutor. This guide covers how physics home tuition works across Gurugram, by zone, board and class, with two worked examples and what to check before you commit.

How we match a physics home tutor in Gurugram

Physics tutors specialise more sharply than tutors in most subjects. Someone excellent at CBSE Class 12 board physics may not be the person for JEE Advanced rotational dynamics, and neither may know how the IB marks a data-based question. So we ask for the details that decide the match:

  • Exact course. CBSE, ICSE or ISC, IB DP Physics SL or HL, or IGCSE Physics 0625 Core or Extended.
  • Goal. School marks, board exam, JEE Main, JEE Advanced or NEET, or a mix.
  • Where it hurts. Mechanics, electrostatics, optics, modern physics, numericals in general, or practical work.
  • Locality and slot. Your sector or society and the evenings or weekend times that work around school and coaching.
  • Budget. We shortlist only inside it.

You get two or three physics tutors, pick one for a free demo class, and switch at no cost if it is not right. For how physics tuition works beyond Gurugram, see our physics home tutor page.

Physics tuition across Gurugram, including Sector 57

Senior-school physics students are short of time. Many leave school, go to coaching, and have a physics session squeezed in late. A tutor who is close in traffic, not just on the map, is what makes three sessions a week sustainable. Browse tutors by locality on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon.

Physics tuition in Sector 57, Gurgaon, and nearby

Sector 57 sits between Golf Course Extension Road and Sohna Road, next to Sector 56 and close to Sector 43 and Sushant Lok Phase I. That position helps: tutors from both sides of the city can reach it, so families here usually get a wider choice of Class 11 and 12 physics tutors, including JEE and NEET specialists, than a more remote sector would. Early-evening slots go first, so tell us your window early.

DLF Phases and Golf Course Road

DLF Phase 1 to Phase 5 and Golf Course Extension Road send many of the city's IB and IGCSE physics requests, alongside CBSE and ISC. Requests are often specific: IB HL paper practice, guidance on the internal assessment, or IGCSE Alternative to Practical technique.

Sohna Road and South City

South City 2, Nirvana Country, Ardee City and Vatika City see heavy demand for CBSE Class 12 and JEE physics. Sohna Road is slow after 5 pm; a tutor on your side of it is worth a day's wait.

New Gurugram and Palam Vihar

In M3M Urbana, Emaar Palm Drive, Emaar Palm Hills and Palam Vihar, specialist physics tutors nearby are fewer, so hybrid plans (one home session, the rest online) are common and often get a stronger tutor.

Physics by board in Gurugram: CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB and IGCSE

The physics is largely the same everywhere. What differs is how it is examined, and that is what a tutor must be fluent in.

How school physics is examined by board
BoardAssessment shapeWhat tuition should focus on
ICSE (Classes 9 and 10)Physics is its own 2-hour, 80-mark paper, plus 20 marks of practical workPrecise definitions, numericals with units, the six Class 10 topics
CBSE (Classes 11 and 12)70-mark, 3-hour theory paper plus 30 marks of practical work, each yearNCERT derivations and numericals, case-based questions, practical file and viva
ISC (Classes 11 and 12)Theory paper plus practical work, set by CISCEFull, precise working; long numericals; the practical examination
IB DP Physics (SL / HL)Written papers plus an internal scientific investigationData analysis, uncertainties, extended responses, guiding the investigation
Cambridge IGCSE 0625Multiple choice, theory, and a practical test or Alternative to PracticalCore vs Extended content, experimental skills, past-paper technique

Each board now has its own deeper Gurugram page: ICSE physics tutor in Gurgaon for Classes 9 and 10, IB physics tutor in Gurgaon and IGCSE physics tutor in Gurgaon. Students in schools that enter IGCSE Combined or Co-ordinated Sciences rather than separate Physics should see the IGCSE science tutor in Gurgaon page. ISC students may also find our ISC Class 12 physics tips useful.

Families often ask which board a school near them follows: for example, DAV Public School (Sector 49) follows CBSE, Scottish High International School (Sector 57) offers ICSE and ISC, Cambridge IGCSE and the IB Diploma, and Suncity School (Sector 54) follows CBSE. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; we match tutors on the course your child sits. Our guide to Gurgaon schools by board has more.

Physics tuition in Gurgaon for Classes 11 and 12

Most physics requests in Gurugram are for the two senior years. Class 11 is the steepest jump in school physics, with mechanics carrying most of the CBSE theory marks and leaning on vectors and basic calculus; Class 12 moves to electricity, magnetism, optics and modern physics, where derivations and multi-step numericals sit. The two years work as one course, so a tutor should start early in Class 11 rather than after the Class 12 pre-boards.

Our Class 11 and 12 physics home tutors in Gurgaon page has the 2026-27 CBSE unit marks for both years, how each Class 11 idea returns in Class 12, three worked problems and a term plan. For online-only help, see the national Class 11 physics tutor and Class 12 physics tutor pages, and our CBSE Class 12 physics strategies.

Where Class 11 and 12 physics students get stuck

Across boards, the same handful of topics generate most requests. A good physics tutor has a specific fix for each, not just more practice.

Common physics sticking points and what a tutor does about them
TopicWhat goes wrongWhat the tutor does
Motion in a plane, projectilesVectors resolved inconsistently; signs lostOne fixed method for choosing axes, drilled until automatic
Laws of motionFree-body diagrams skipped or incompleteNo equation until the diagram is drawn and checked
Rotational motionTorque and moment of inertia feel abstractLinks every rotational quantity to its straight-line partner
ElectrostaticsField, potential and energy muddledSeparates the three with graphs and simple charge arrangements
Magnetism and EMIDirection rules applied by guessworkHand rules practised with 3D sketches; Lenz's law explained through energy
Ray and wave opticsSign convention errors; untidy ray diagramsOne sign convention used every time; diagrams drawn with a ruler
Modern physicsTreated as pure memoryShort numericals on photoelectric effect and nuclear energy to anchor the ideas

Two worked examples: one from mechanics, one from circuits

Class 11, laws of motion: two blocks in contact

Question. Blocks of mass 3 kg and 2 kg sit side by side on a smooth horizontal floor. A horizontal force of 10 N pushes the 3 kg block, which pushes the 2 kg block. Find the acceleration and the force between the blocks.

  1. Whole system: a = F ÷ (m₁ + m₂) = 10 ÷ 5 = 2 m/s².
  2. Free-body diagram of the 2 kg block alone: the only horizontal force on it is the contact force N, so N = 2 × 2 = 4 N.
  3. Check with the 3 kg block: 10 − N = 3 × 2, so N = 4 N. Both diagrams agree.

The usual mistake is to apply the full 10 N to the 2 kg block and get 5 m/s². It happens when the free-body diagram is skipped, which is why a tutor insists on drawing one before writing any equation.

Class 12, current electricity: a cell with internal resistance

Question. A cell of emf 6 V and internal resistance 1 Ω is connected to two 4 Ω resistors in parallel. Find the current from the cell, the terminal voltage and the current in each resistor.

  1. Parallel combination: 1/R = 1/4 + 1/4, so R = 2 Ω.
  2. Total resistance including the cell: 2 + 1 = 3 Ω, so I = 6 ÷ 3 = 2 A.
  3. Terminal voltage: V = E − Ir = 6 − 2 × 1 = 4 V.
  4. Each 4 Ω resistor has 4 V across it, so each carries 4 ÷ 4 = 1 A, and 1 + 1 = 2 A matches the cell current.

Students who forget the internal resistance get 3 A and a terminal voltage of 6 V, and then cannot see why the branch currents do not add up. The habit to build is a final check that the currents at each junction balance.

Practicals, the viva and the project

In CBSE Class 12, 30 of the 100 marks are practical: two experiments (7 marks each), the practical record (5), an activity (3), an investigatory project (3) and a viva on all of it (5). ISC, the IB and IGCSE each assess practical skill in their own way, whether through a practical examination, the IB scientific investigation, or IGCSE Paper 5 or 6. Students often treat practicals as easy marks and then lose them in the viva or through untidy records. A physics tutor can go through each experiment's aim, circuit or ray diagram, sources of error and likely viva questions in a couple of sessions before the practical exam, which is time well spent.

Changing board between Class 10 and Class 11

Gurugram has many students who change board at the start of senior school, and physics is where the gap shows first. Younger students building towards this stage can use the Class 9 science and Class 10 science pages for Gurgaon, where CBSE physics sits inside one science paper.

  • ICSE Class 10 into CBSE or ISC Class 11. ICSE physics is usually a strong base. The adjustment is to NCERT's style of derivation and to case-based questions in CBSE.
  • IGCSE into CBSE Class 11. IGCSE Physics 0625 covers a broad range but with less algebra and no calculus. Expect a few weeks of catching up on vectors, graphs and derivations.
  • CBSE or IGCSE into the IB Diploma. The content feels familiar, but data-based questions, uncertainties and the internal assessment are new. See our IB physics page.

JEE and NEET physics alongside coaching

Most Gurugram students aiming for JEE or NEET already attend coaching. A physics home tutor is the part coaching cannot do: one-to-one attention on this student's mistakes, and making sure derivations, diagrams and the practical file are not neglected, so the board score does not suffer for the entrance. In NEET (UG) 2026, physics was 45 of 180 questions and 180 of 720 marks; in JEE Main 2026, it was one of three 100-mark sections and the second tie-breaker after maths. Each exam now has its own Gurgaon page with the syllabus units and a Class 11 to 12 plan: JEE physics tutor in Gurgaon and NEET physics tutor in Gurgaon.

How often, and when to start

Typical physics tuition frequency in Gurugram
SituationSessions a weekWhen to start
Class 11, board or school focus2First month of Class 11, before mechanics piles up
Class 12, board focus2 to 3April, so electrostatics is secure by summer
Alongside JEE or NEET coaching1 to 2 (doubts and tests)As soon as coaching test scores start slipping
IB DP Physics HL2Start of DP Year 1, and again before the investigation
IGCSE Physics 06251 to 2Grade 9, or at least a term before the exam series

Starting late still helps, but the work shifts from understanding to damage control. If a mock or coaching test has already gone badly, tell us the chapter list and we look for a tutor who can start within days.

Home or online physics tuition?

Physics suits both. At home, a tutor can watch a student set up a free-body diagram or a circuit and catch the slip at the moment it happens, which helps most in Class 11. Online opens up specialists for IB HL, JEE Advanced or NEET who may live on the other side of the city, and removes the late-evening drive after coaching. A digital whiteboard and a phone camera on the notebook cover most of what a physics lesson needs. Many families use a hybrid: one home session, one or two online.

Physics home tutor fees in Gurugram

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee. What moves it:

  • Level. JEE Advanced, IB HL and investigation guidance need more specialist tutors than Class 11 board support.
  • Experience with your exact board. ISC and IB specialists are fewer, and their fees reflect it.
  • Travel. A tutor crossing Sohna Road at 6 pm prices in the drive; online sessions often cost less.
  • Sessions a week. Three or more a week, common in Class 12, often lowers the hourly rate.

You see each tutor's fee before the demo. See our pricing guide.

Choosing the right physics tutor in Gurgaon

  1. Ask them to solve something from your child's own sheet. Not a prepared example. Watch how they reason aloud.
  2. Check diagrams and units. Free-body diagrams, ray diagrams and units at every step are where marks are won and lost.
  3. Check board fluency. Ask how a CBSE derivation is set out, what the IB expects in a data-based question, or how IGCSE Paper 6 differs from Paper 5.
  4. Check they fit around coaching. A tutor should ask what coaching covers this month and plan around it, not duplicate it.
  5. Ask for a plan. Which chapters, how often tests, and how you will know it is working.

If it does not feel right, tell us and we set up the next demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. You can also browse tutors.

Schools families ask about

Parents often tell us their child's school so the tutor can follow the same board and books. These Gurugram schools follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as shown on each school's own site or its board's directory, with the sector each is in. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; tutors are matched by board and syllabus, and the list is alphabetical, not a ranking.

Physics Home Tutor in Gurgaon (Gurugram): common questions

What are the fees for a physics home tutor in Gurgaon?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee. Travel at peak hours, sessions per week, the level (JEE Advanced, IB HL) and home versus online all affect it. You see each tutor's fee before the demo.

Do you have physics tutors near Sector 57 in Gurgaon?

Yes. Sector 57 sits between Golf Course Extension Road and Sohna Road, so tutors from both sides of the city can reach it, and families there usually get a good choice of Class 11 and 12 physics tutors. Tell us your society and preferred time and we shortlist tutors who can reach you at that hour. We also cover nearby Sector 56, Sector 43, Sushant Lok and South City.

Can I get physics tuition in Gurgaon for Class 12 boards?

Yes. For CBSE Class 12 we match tutors who teach the 2026-27 syllabus, where electricity, magnetism and optics carry most of the 70 theory marks, and who also prepare students for the 30-mark practical and viva. For ISC Class 12 we match tutors who teach ISC physics specifically. Two or three sessions a week is typical in Class 12.

Can a home tutor help with JEE or NEET physics alongside coaching?

Yes, and that is how most Gurgaon students use one. The tutor works through the coaching sheets and test papers, fixes recurring mistakes and weak chapters, and keeps board preparation on track. For NEET, physics is 45 of the 180 questions; for JEE, deeper problem-solving in mechanics and electromagnetism matters most. Tell us which exam and we shortlist tutors who teach it regularly.

Do you have physics tutors for IB and IGCSE in Gurgaon?

Yes. For the IB we match tutors who teach the current DP Physics course at SL or HL, including data-based questions and guidance on the internal scientific investigation, which the tutor guides but never writes. For IGCSE we match on Physics 0625 Core or Extended, including Paper 5 or Paper 6 practical skills. Each has its own Gurgaon page.

JEE or NEET physics: is the tutor different?

Often, yes. Both exams draw on Class 11 and 12 physics, but NEET (UG) 2026 asked 45 multiple-choice physics questions as part of a pen-and-paper paper, where speed on NCERT-level numericals decides the score. JEE Main 2026 was a computer-based test with 20 MCQs and 5 numerical-answer questions in physics, and JEE Advanced goes deeper again. Some tutors teach both well; many specialise. Tell us the exam and we shortlist tutors who teach it regularly. The free demo and free switching apply either way.

Is online physics tuition as good as home tuition?

For many senior students, yes. Online sessions remove the late-evening drive after coaching and open up specialists for IB HL, JEE or NEET who may live across the city. Home sessions help most in Class 11, when a tutor watching free-body diagrams and circuits being drawn can correct errors on the spot. Many families use a mix.

Can I request a female physics tutor?

Yes. We can shortlist female tutors where available; tell us when you share your requirement. For some courses, such as IB HL or JEE Advanced, or some time slots, the choice may be narrower, and we will tell you honestly and suggest options such as online sessions.
