What home tuition costs in Gurgaon

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Science home tutor in Gurgaon (Gurugram): Classes 6 to 10, CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE and IB MYP

Science is where a lot of Gurugram students first feel school getting hard. The subject quietly splits into three, chemistry, biology and physics, somewhere between Class 7 and Class 9, and each part asks for a different skill: balanced equations, labelled diagrams, numericals. Alongside that, the NCERT books have changed, and CBSE's 2026-27 curriculum brings a new Class 9 book and an optional Advanced level. This guide explains how science home tuition works across Gurugram: where our tutors travel, what changes from class to class, how CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE and IB MYP science differ, two worked examples, what it costs, and how to judge a science tutor in one demo class.

How we find a science home tutor for your child in Gurugram

Start by telling us four things: the class, the board (CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE, IB MYP, or another if your child is moving), which part of science is the problem, and where you live. "Science" on its own is too broad to match on. A Class 9 student who is lost in motion numericals needs a different tutor from a Class 9 student who cannot remember the parts of a cell, and a Class 6 child who has gone off science altogether needs someone else again.

From that we shortlist two or three science tutors. Each fits your budget, teaches your board at your child's level, and can realistically reach you at the time you want. You pick one for a free demo class, which is a normal lesson on whatever chapter school is on that week. If the fit is wrong, we arrange the next tutor; switching costs nothing.

Aaditya Kashyap writes our CBSE and ICSE science guidance. For science tuition in general, beyond Gurugram, see the main science home tutor page.

Science tutors across Gurugram: zones, traffic and slot times

Science tuition usually runs two or three evenings a week, often squeezed between school, a sport and a maths session. In Gurugram that means the drive matters as much as the tutor: a tutor who is close in the early afternoon can be a long way off once the office traffic starts. Here is how the main zones work for science, and you can see tutors by locality on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon.

DLF Phases and MG Road

DLF Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4 and Phase 5 have a dense mix of CBSE, ICSE and international-board families. Tutors here often teach two students in the same phase back to back, so a 5 pm or 6 pm science slot is easier to fill than in newer sectors.

Golf Course Road and Extension

Along Golf Course Extension Road many younger students are in CBSE or ICSE middle school while older siblings are in IB or IGCSE. Societies often restrict visitor entry late in the evening, so we confirm gate rules before fixing a slot. Our office is in Sector 66, on this side of the city.

Sohna Road, South City, Sushant Lok

South City 2, Sushant Lok Phase I, Nirvana Country, Ardee City, Vatika City and sectors such as Sector 43, 56 and 57 see steady demand for Class 9 and 10 science. Crossing Sohna Road in the evening is slow, so we prefer tutors already on your side of it.

New Gurugram and Dwarka Expressway

In M3M Urbana, Emaar Palm Drive, Emaar Palm Hills and the sectors off NH-48, fewer science tutors live close by. Weekend mornings fill faster than weekday evenings, and one home visit plus one online session a week often gets a better tutor than insisting on all visits.

Old Gurgaon and Palam Vihar

Palam Vihar, Greenwood City and the older colonies have experienced tutors who have taught CBSE science for years, often strongest in the NCERT-and-past-papers style that Class 10 needs.

Science tuition class by class, from Class 6 to Class 10

Each class now has its own Gurgaon page with the year's map, typical sticking points and a term-by-term plan. The short version:

CBSE science, Classes 6 to 10, 2026-27 at a glance
ClassNCERT bookWhat a tutor focuses onPage
6CuriosityObservation, activities, exact science wordsClass 6 science
7CuriosityExplaining "why", first simple measurements and unitsClass 7 science
8CuriosityThe bridge year: the three sciences start to feel separateClass 8 science
9Exploration (new)New book, motion numericals, the Advanced optionClass 9 science
10ScienceBoard paper, light and electricity, two exam windowsClass 10 science

The Curiosity books for Classes 6 to 8 are built around activities, questions and observation rather than long passages to memorise. A good middle-school tutor keeps those activities alive at the dining table with safe household materials, builds precise vocabulary (solute, conductor, respiration, force), and starts simple numericals with units early, so Class 9 motion is less of a shock. One or two sessions a week is plenty for Classes 6 and 7. ICSE schools use their own prescribed books in these years, and a good tutor works from what the school actually uses.

Class 9 science in 2026-27: a new book and an optional Advanced level

Class 9 is the year most Gurugram families first ask us for a science tutor, and in 2026-27 it has changed. NCERT's new Class 9 book is Exploration, and CBSE's 80-mark paper is spread across four units: World of Living (27), Matter: Its Nature and Behaviour (25), Motion, Force, Work and Sound (23) and Earth as a System (5), with 20 marks of internal assessment. Older guides and a sibling's notes will not match the new book, so a tutor should work from the current textbook.

CBSE also now offers an optional Science Advanced level from Class 9: everyone sits the common paper, and Advanced students add a 25-mark, 1-hour paper of higher-order questions on ten extra chapters, from measurement and Newton's laws to chemical bonding and biotechnology. The marks are not added to the total, and the level joins the Class 10 Board exam from 2027-28. The Class 9 science tutor in Gurgaon page has the unit map, and our guide to CBSE Class 9 Advanced maths and science helps families decide whether to opt in.

Science tuition in Gurgaon for Class 10: the board year

CBSE Class 10 science is still taught from the NCERT book titled Science and examined in one 80-mark paper plus 20 marks of internal assessment. Chemical Substances and World of Living carry 25 marks each; Natural Phenomena (light) 12, Effects of Current 13 and Natural Resources 5. It is usually the 25 marks of light and electricity, with ray diagrams and circuit numericals, that separate a good score from a very good one. Periodic classification, evolution and the motor/generator topics are taught but assessed only in school, not in the year-end paper.

CBSE now holds two Class 10 Board exams: everyone sits the main exam starting in mid-February, and a second exam in May lets students who passed improve in up to three of Science, Mathematics, Social Science and languages. A tutor plans to peak for February. The Class 10 science tutor in Gurgaon page sets out the term plan; see also our CBSE Class 10 science notes.

Science by board in Gurugram: CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE and IB MYP

The four boards Gurugram families most often name handle science quite differently. Knowing which one your child sits changes what a tutor should do.

How Class 9 and 10 science is examined by board
BoardHow science is examinedWhat a tutor should doPage
CBSEOne integrated Science paper (80 + 20 internal)Line-by-line NCERT, competency-based questions, then sample papersCBSE science
ICSEThree separate papers: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, each 2 hours and 80 marks plus 20 of practical workTeach each science as its own subject, with precise definitions and timed papersPhysics, Chemistry, Biology
Cambridge IGCSESeparate sciences, or Combined (0653) or Co-ordinated Sciences (0654); Core or Extended; a practical paperMatch the school's route and tier; past papers and mark schemesIGCSE science
IB MYP (ages 11 to 16)Four criteria, each on levels 1 to 8; optional on-screen eAssessmentInquiry, designing investigations, reflecting on science's impactIB MYP science

ICSE students effectively prepare for three science exams, which is why ICSE families more often ask for separate tutors for physics and chemistry by Class 9. CBSE students can usually manage with one strong science tutor until Class 10, adding help in one weak strand if needed.

Families often ask which board a school near them follows: for example, Blue Bells Model School (Sector 4) and Delhi Public School, Gurugram Sector 84 follow CBSE, Scottish High International School (Sector 57) offers ICSE and Cambridge IGCSE, and Shiv Nadar School (DLF City Phase 1) offers CBSE, IB MYP and Cambridge IGCSE. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; we match tutors on the course your child sits. Our guide to Gurgaon schools by board explains the rest.

Two worked examples: a Class 9 numerical and a Class 10 equation

Class 9 motion: acceleration and distance

Question. A car speeds up uniformly from 10 m/s to 25 m/s in 5 s. Find its acceleration and the distance it covers in that time.

  1. Acceleration: a = (v − u) ÷ t = (25 − 10) ÷ 5 = 3 m/s².
  2. Distance: s = ut + ½at² = 10 × 5 + ½ × 3 × 5² = 50 + 37.5 = 87.5 m.
  3. Check with v² = u² + 2as: 625 = 100 + 2 × 3 × s, so s = 525 ÷ 6 = 87.5 m. Both routes agree.

The common slip is forgetting to square the time, which gives 57.5 m. A tutor teaches students to check one equation of motion against another, and to write units at every line.

Class 10 chemical reactions: balancing an equation

Question. Balance: Fe + H₂O → Fe₃O₄ + H₂.

  1. Iron first: three Fe atoms on the right, so write 3Fe on the left.
  2. Oxygen: four O atoms in Fe₃O₄, so write 4H₂O on the left.
  3. Hydrogen: now eight H atoms on the left, so write 4H₂ on the right.
  4. Result: 3Fe + 4H₂O → Fe₃O₄ + 4H₂. Count again: Fe 3 = 3, O 4 = 4, H 8 = 8.

Students lose marks by changing a formula (writing FeO to make the numbers easier) instead of changing the coefficients. The rule a tutor drills: never touch the subscripts, only the numbers in front, and always finish with an atom count.

One science tutor or separate physics, chemistry and biology tutors?

One tutor usually works for Classes 6 to 9

A single science tutor sees the whole picture, keeps one timetable, and costs less in travel. For most CBSE students up to Class 9, and many in Class 10, this is the sensible choice.

Split when one strand is clearly weak

If physics numericals are the problem and biology is fine, a physics-strong tutor for one session a week often does more than general science help. From Class 11, science becomes three subjects anyway: see our physics and chemistry home tutor in Gurgaon pages.

Pair with maths where needed

Class 9 and 10 physics leans on algebra. If numericals keep going wrong at the rearranging stage, the gap may be in maths; our maths home tutor in Gurgaon page covers that side.

Home or online science tuition in Gurugram?

Science is one of the subjects where a home tutor has a real edge for younger students. Diagrams are drawn by hand, notebooks can be checked at the table, and simple, safe activities (an indicator from red cabbage, a circuit with a cell and a bulb, germinating seeds on wet cotton) are easy to do together. Anything with flames, strong acids or mains electricity stays in the school lab.

Online works well from Class 9 onwards, especially for doubt-clearing and timed tests, and it removes the evening drive entirely. Many Gurugram families settle on one home session a week plus one online, with the same tutor. Our online versus offline tutoring guide weighs up both.

Science home tutor fees in Gurugram

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee. For science, what moves it:

  • Class. Board-year preparation and ICSE subject-specialist teaching ask more of a tutor than middle-school support.
  • Single tutor or specialist. A general science tutor usually costs less per hour than a physics or chemistry specialist.
  • Travel and slot. A peak-hour drive across Sohna Road or Golf Course Extension Road is priced in; a tutor in your own sector often is not. Online sessions can cost less.
  • Frequency. Three or more sessions a week, or a monthly arrangement, often brings the hourly rate down.

You see each shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo. Our pricing guide has more detail.

Choosing a science tutor in Gurgaon: what to watch in the demo

  1. Did they ask what school is on right now? A good science tutor teaches the chapter your child faces this week and checks older gaps along the way.
  2. Did they draw? Science marks depend on diagrams: ray diagrams, the heart, a cell, an electrolysis set-up. Watch whether the tutor makes your child draw and label, not just look.
  3. Did they handle a numerical step by step? Formula, substitution with units, answer with units, as in the worked example above.
  4. Did they use the right book? For CBSE, the current NCERT textbook, including Exploration in Class 9 this year. For ICSE, the school's prescribed book and CISCE papers.
  5. Did they ask "why"? CBSE says about half of Board questions are now competency-based. A tutor who asks your child to predict and explain is preparing them for the paper that exists now.
  6. Was there a plan? Which chapters next, how progress will be checked, when tests start.

If the answers are mostly no, tell us and we arrange the next demo at no charge. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. You can also browse tutors yourself.

Schools families ask about

Parents often tell us their child's school so the tutor can follow the same board and books. These Gurugram schools follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as shown on each school's own site or its board's directory, with the sector each is in. Science Home Tutor in Gurgaon (Gurugram): common questions

How much does a science home tutor cost in Gurgaon?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee. For science, the class, whether you need a general tutor or a subject specialist, travel at peak hours, the number of sessions a week and home versus online all move it. You see each shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo, and we only shortlist inside your budget.

Can I find a science tutor near me in my sector or society in Gurugram?

Yes. Tell us your sector or society and the time you want, and we shortlist two or three science tutors who can realistically reach you at that hour, not just those nearby on a map. We cover the DLF phases, Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension Road, Sohna Road, South City, Sushant Lok, the newer sectors off NH-48 and Dwarka Expressway, and Old Gurgaon including Palam Vihar.

Do you have science tutors for Class 8, Class 9 and Class 10 in Gurgaon?

Yes. For Classes 6 to 8 we match tutors who teach from NCERT's Curiosity textbooks or the school's ICSE books. For Class 9 in 2026-27 we look for tutors working from the new NCERT book, Exploration, and CBSE's revised curriculum. For Class 10 we match on CBSE's single science paper or ICSE's three separate papers. Each class from 6 to 10 has its own Gurgaon page with the year's map and a term plan.

Is ICSE science one paper or three?

Three. For the ICSE examination, CISCE sets Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate papers, each 2 hours and 80 marks, with 20 marks of practical work for each. That is why ICSE families often want a tutor who is strong in one science, or separate tutors, by Class 9. CBSE, by contrast, examines Class 10 science as one integrated 80-mark paper. Each ICSE science has its own Gurgaon page.

What is CBSE Advanced science in Class 9?

From 2026-27, CBSE Class 9 students may opt for Science Advanced alongside the common science paper. It adds a 25-mark, 1-hour paper of higher-order questions on ten extra chapters, from measurement and Newton's laws to chemical bonding, microscopy and biotechnology. Advanced marks are not added to the total; a score of 50% or more earns a marksheet note. It is school-assessed in Class 9 and joins the Class 10 Board exam from 2027-28. The demo class is free if you want a tutor to assess whether it suits your child.

Should we choose home or online science tuition in Gurgaon?

Both work. Home tuition suits younger students and makes diagram practice and simple, safe activities easy. Online removes evening travel and widens the choice of tutor, which helps from Class 9 onwards. Many Gurgaon families use one home session and one online session a week with the same tutor; we can arrange home, online or hybrid.

How many science sessions a week does my child need, and how soon can we start?

One or two sessions a week is usually enough for Classes 6 to 8, two for Class 9, and two or three for Class 10. Once you share your requirement we send a shortlist quickly, and you can book the demo as soon as you choose a tutor. Starting at the beginning of the school session gives the most time, but help later in the year still makes a difference.

Can I ask for a female science tutor?

Yes. We can shortlist female tutors where available; tell us when you share your requirement. In some sectors or time slots the choice may be narrower, and if so we will say so and suggest options such as a different slot or online sessions.
