Science home tutor in Greater Noida for Classes 6 to 10

For a child in Classes 6 to 10, a good science home tutor in Greater Noida teaches from the book the school uses this year and covers biology, chemistry and physics as three different skills. The tutor should also fit into the hours between school and dinner without losing half of each session to a jammed chowk. For CBSE students the work is NCERT and the competency-style questions the board now sets; for ICSE students it is three separate science papers. NXTutors shortlists two or three science tutors for your child's class and board, you see their fees first, and the first class is a free demo.

What should a science tutor do at each stage from Class 6 to 10?

Aaditya Kashyap writes our CBSE and ICSE science guidance. We brief tutors for each stage differently, because the subject changes shape every couple of years. The table sets out what that means in practice.

Science tuition from Class 6 to Class 10: what changes, and what the tutor should do
StageWhat school expectsWhat the tutor doesUsual rhythm
Classes 6 and 7NCERT's Curiosity books: activities, observation, first scientific wordsKeeps questions coming; teaches exact terms; makes short notes with the child1 session a week, sometimes 2
Class 8The three strands begin to separate; simple numericals and units appearMakes units, labelled diagrams and balanced word equations a habit1 to 2 a week
Class 9A new NCERT textbook in 2026-27; motion, matter and biology vocabulary all at onceTeaches from the current book; catches gaps in motion graphs and valency early2 a week
Class 10 (CBSE)One 80-mark board paper plus 20 marks of school assessmentChapter tests, then mixed revision, then timed full papers from the pre-boards2 to 3 a week
Classes 9 and 10 (ICSE)Three separate papers: Physics, Chemistry, BiologyTreats each as a subject of its own, using the school's books and CISCE specimen papers2 to 3 a week, often split

Up to Class 9, one strong science tutor usually works well for a CBSE student. The child keeps one timetable, and one person sees how weakness in one strand affects the others. Add a specialist only when the evidence points to one strand, for example when physics numericals keep failing at the step where a formula is rearranged. That can be a maths gap rather than a science one. For how science tuition works beyond Greater Noida, see our main science home tutor page.

Why is Class 9 science different in 2026-27?

NCERT has introduced a new Class 9 science textbook, Exploration, and CBSE's 2026-27 Class 9 curriculum is organised to match it. The annual paper is still 80 marks with 20 of internal assessment. The theory units are Matter: its nature and behaviour (27 marks), World of living (25), Motion, force, work and sound (23) and Earth as a system (5).

Two things follow. First, an older sibling's notes and last year's guidebooks may not follow the new chapter order, so the tutor should work from this year's book. Second, the Class 9 practical list is assessed in school. It includes stained mounts of onion peel and cheek cells, separating mixtures, and distance-time and velocity-time graphs. A tutor who explains why each experiment is set up the way it is helps with both the practical and the theory. Our Class 9 science tutor page goes chapter by chapter.

What does the CBSE Class 10 science board paper reward?

The board paper is 80 marks over three hours. The school adds 20 marks of internal assessment, 5 each for periodic assessment, multiple assessment, portfolio and practical work. The 2026-27 sample paper has 39 questions in three subject sections: biology 30 marks, chemistry 25 and physics 25. The curriculum weights the paper at 50% knowledge and understanding, 30% application and 20% analysis, evaluation and creation. So half the paper asks a student to use an idea, not recite it.

Because each subject's questions sit together, students can plan their time by section. A workable split is roughly an hour for biology, fifty minutes each for chemistry and physics, and the rest for checking. A tutor should rehearse that split in timed papers from the pre-boards onwards. Three other points matter:

  • Some topics are school-only. Periodic classification, evolution, and the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator are assessed only formatively in school, not in the board paper. Guides that tell students to prioritise them for the board are out of date.
  • Experiments reach the board paper too. The curriculum lists 14 experiments, and experiment-based questions appear in the board paper, so the practical file is revision, not paperwork.
  • Two exams, one plan. From 2026, Class 10 has a compulsory main exam and an optional second exam to improve in up to three subjects, science among them. The 2027 dates have not been announced; rely on cbse.gov.in, and prepare as if the main exam is the only attempt.

Our CBSE Class 10 science notes cover every chapter, and the Class 10 science tutor page explains how tutors plan the board year.

What changes for an ICSE student?

In ICSE, Class 10 science is examined as three separate papers: Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Each has its own theory paper and internal assessment. Marks are lost through the sheer volume of content and through loose definitions or incomplete numerical working, more than through case-based questions. Schools use books prescribed or chosen under the CISCE syllabus, so the tutor must work from your child's actual book and the CISCE specimen papers, not from NCERT. Families often move to separate help in the weakest of the three from Class 9. ICSE-experienced science tutors are fewer, so tell us early. Where none can reach your sector, online sessions widen the choice.

How do after-school science slots work across Greater Noida?

For Classes 6 to 10, science tuition usually sits between school, play and homework, so the slot is late afternoon or early evening. Whether it holds depends on your kind of housing and on which junction the tutor has to cross. Browse tutors sector by sector on our Greater Noida page.

Townships and towers in Greater Noida West

In Techzone 4, dozens of high-rise societies sit close together, so tutors often teach several students in the same area. That makes a weekday evening slot easier to find. Register the tutor on the visitor app before the first class. In the monsoon, and in towers across Sector 1 too, a heavy-rain evening can slow a tutor down, so agree an online back-up for wet evenings in advance.

Builder floors and plotted lanes

Not all of Greater Noida West is towers. Shahberi is mainly builder floors on narrow lanes, so a tutor usually reaches the door without a gate pass but needs a precise map pin. In the older Greek-letter sectors, Beta 1 is mostly independent houses near Jagat Farm market. Parks such as the J Block park are close, handy for a short break in a longer session with a younger child.

Quieter sectors: plan for daylight

In Phi 3, a sector of houses south of Pari Chowk, many families prefer daytime or early-evening classes, so the tutor can finish and travel home before late evening. In Zeta 1, public transport is limited, and a tutor from Zeta, Eta or Delta is easier to keep on a regular timetable than one riding in from the Pari Chowk corridor.

Across the city, a weekend-morning slot is easier to fill than 6 pm on a weekday. One home session plus one online session a week with the same tutor is a sensible plan for Class 9 and 10.

What can parents do between tutor sessions?

Parents do not need to know the science to help it stick. A few small habits make each paid hour go further:

  • Ask for the one-line version. After a session, ask your child to explain one idea in a sentence, for example why a bulb stops glowing when the circuit opens. If they cannot, it goes on the list for next time.
  • Keep a diagram notebook. Labelled diagrams, such as the heart, the eye or a ray through a lens, earn marks in both CBSE and ICSE. Five minutes of redrawing from memory twice a week is enough.
  • Keep the practical file current. Internal assessment builds through the year, and a file completed in April is far less stressful than one rushed in January.
  • Leave hazardous experiments to school. Anything with flames, strong acids or mains electricity belongs in the school laboratory, not at home.

What does a science home tutor cost in Greater Noida?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee. For Classes 6 to 10, the class matters (the board year usually costs more than the middle-school years). So do the choice between a general science tutor and a physics or chemistry specialist, the tutor's travel to your sector at your time, and the number of sessions each week. You see each shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo.

What should you look for in the free demo?

The demo is an ordinary lesson on this week's chapter. Good signs:

  1. The tutor asks which chapter the school is on and opens your child's current book.
  2. Your child draws, labels or writes something, rather than only listening.
  3. Any numerical is written as formula, then substitution with units, then answer with units.
  4. The tutor asks your child to predict or explain, the skill competency questions test.
  5. You leave with a plan for the next few weeks and a date for the first test.

The demo class checklist for parents has more. If the fit is wrong, we arrange the next tutor's demo, and switching later is free too.

Science Home Tutor in Greater Noida: common questions

How much does a science tutor charge per hour in Greater Noida?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. For Classes 6 to 10, the board year and specialist tutors cost more. You see each fee before the free demo.

How does NXTutors find a science home tutor for my Greater Noida child?

NXTutors finds a science home tutor for your Greater Noida child from the class, board, weakest strand, your sector or society and your free slots. We shortlist two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

Has the CBSE Class 9 science textbook changed for Greater Noida students?

Yes, CBSE Class 9 students in Greater Noida now use NCERT's new science textbook, Exploration, around which the 2026-27 curriculum is organised. The paper is still 80 marks plus 20 of internal assessment, across four units. Old notes may not match the new chapter order, so the tutor should teach from this year's book.

Which CBSE Class 10 science topics are left out of the board paper for Greater Noida students?

For Greater Noida students on the 2026-27 CBSE curriculum, periodic classification, evolution, and the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and generator are assessed in school, not in the board paper. They still matter for internal assessment and later classes, but guides that tell students to prioritise them for the board are out of date.

How do the two CBSE Class 10 board exams affect Greater Noida science students?

Greater Noida science students in CBSE Class 10 sit a compulsory main exam and may take an optional second exam to improve up to three subjects, including science. The 2027 dates have not been announced, so check cbse.gov.in. It is safest to prepare as though the main exam is the only attempt.

Can I find an ICSE science tutor in Greater Noida?

Yes, we look for ICSE science tutors in Greater Noida who teach Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate papers from your school's chosen books. They practise with CISCE specimen papers. Such tutors are fewer than CBSE ones, so ask early; online sessions help if none can reach your sector.

Does home science tuition work in a Greater Noida West society?

Home science tuition works well in a Greater Noida West society once the tutor is registered on the visitor app and the slot avoids the evening rush. Char Murti and Ek Murti Chowk get busy then. In dense areas such as Techzone 4, tutors often already teach nearby, which makes regular weekday slots easier to keep.

Can one tutor in Greater Noida cover physics, chemistry and biology up to Class 10?

Usually yes, one tutor in Greater Noida can cover physics, chemistry and biology up to Class 10 for a CBSE student, because the board sets science as one paper. Bring in a specialist when one strand keeps losing marks. An ICSE student faces three separate papers, so extra help in the weakest one is common from Class 9.

Is home or online science tuition better for a Greater Noida middle-schooler?

For a Greater Noida child in Classes 6 to 8, home science tuition usually works better, because a tutor at the table sees diagrams, labelling and written answers. From Class 9, online sessions can suit revision and doubt clearing when the tutor sees the notebook live. Many families mix both with one tutor.
