Golf Course Road and DLF tuition: what should parents know about timings, boards and home vs online?
Golf Course Road, the DLF phases and the stretch around MG Road and Cyber City make up the oldest part of new Gurgaon (Gurugram). Tuition here comes with its own practical questions: independent DLF floors with narrow lanes next to gated towers with visitor apps, office traffic that can turn a short drive into a long one, and many families wanting a tutor for one exact board and paper rather than general homework help.
This guide covers which areas fall in this zone, how home tuition usually works around the school run and office hours, what boards and classes families here tend to ask for, when online is the more sensible choice, and a short checklist for booking a demo class that fits your street and your child's timetable. Areas this guide covers
This zone runs from the DLF phases and Sushant Lok 1 across Golf Course Road, and north to MG Road and the Cyber City side. Each area has its own page listing the tutors closest to it:
- DLF Phase 1, DLF Phase 2 and DLF Phase 3
- DLF Phase 4 and DLF Phase 5
- Sushant Lok Phase 1 and Ardee City
- Sector 27, Sector 28 and Sector 24
- Sector 42 and Sector 43
- Sector 53 and Sector 54 along Golf Course Road
- The MG Road belt
If you live south of Sector 54, towards Sectors 55 to 66, see our Golf Course Extension Road and SPR guide. For South City 1 and Sushant Lok 2 and 3, the Sohna Road and Central Gurgaon guide is the better fit.
How home tuition works in this zone
Two kinds of homes, two kinds of entry
The DLF phases and Sushant Lok 1 are largely independent houses and builder floors. There is usually no guard desk, so the tutor simply rings the bell. The practical issue is parking: lanes are narrow, and a tutor arriving by car may spend ten minutes finding a spot. A tutor on a two-wheeler, or one dropped off, often arrives more reliably.
The towers along Golf Course Road are the opposite. Parking inside is easy once the tutor is in, but entry needs a pre-approval on the society app or a call from the gate. For a regular tutor, ask the management office whether you can register them as a frequent visitor so the guard is not calling you at the start of every class.
Timing around offices and school buses
This zone holds a large share of the city's offices, so the evening peak is sharper here than in most residential zones. A tutor crossing MG Road or passing the Cyber City side between about 6 pm and 8 pm can lose a lot of time. Two things help:
- Earlier slots. A 4:30 pm or 5 pm class, soon after the school bus drops your child home, is usually easier to keep on time than a 7 pm one.
- Tutors already nearby. Because homes are close together, many tutors teach two or three students in the same phase on one evening. A tutor already in DLF Phase 4 at 5 pm can reach Phase 5 far more easily than one driving in from another zone.
Travel from neighbouring zones
Tutors from Central Gurgaon and the South City side can usually reach the DLF phases and Sushant Lok 1 without much trouble in the afternoon. Tutors from Golf Course Extension Road can reach the southern end of Golf Course Road reasonably well. Tutors coming from New Gurgaon or Dwarka Expressway at peak hour are a harder ask, and we would rarely suggest that for a weekday evening slot.
Boards and classes families here commonly look for
The spread is wide. Many children attend CBSE schools in the surrounding sectors, while the international schools along Golf Course Road bring a large group of IB and Cambridge IGCSE students. Some families also follow ICSE and ISC.
What stands out is how specific the requests are. Parents often ask for help with one component rather than a whole subject: IB Maths Analysis and Approaches at HL, an IB Physics internal assessment plan, IGCSE Chemistry structured questions, or the step from IGCSE Extended Maths into the IB. For CBSE and ICSE families, Classes 9 to 12 Maths and Science are the most common asks, often alongside school rather than instead of it.
If your child is on an international board, our IB and IGCSE tutoring guide for Gurgaon parents explains how to judge a tutor for these syllabuses.
Home or online?
| Situation | What usually works |
|---|---|
| Class 6–8 child in a DLF floor, parent home in the afternoon | Home tuition soon after school, before the office peak |
| IB or IGCSE student needing one narrow specialist | Online first if no suitable tutor is close; home if one is |
| Both parents work late in Cyber City or on MG Road | Online in the evening, or a weekend home class when a parent is in |
| Society with strict visitor hours after dark | Home before the cut-off, online for later doubt sessions |
| Board-year CBSE or ICSE student who drifts on screens | Home tuition, fixed days, with a short online check-in before tests |
| Frequent family travel or boarding breaks | Same tutor teaching online while away, home when back |

Checklist for booking a demo in this zone
- State the exact board, level and paper: "IB Maths AA HL, Year 1" is far more useful than "IB Maths".
- Give your phase, sector or society name, and say whether it is an independent floor or a tower.
- For a tower, pre-approve the tutor on the society app before the demo, and tell them which gate to use.
- For a floor, tell the tutor where they can park, or suggest a two-wheeler.
- Pick a demo slot that avoids the office peak, ideally just after the school bus drop.
- Share a recent test, an IA draft or a marked paper so the demo is on real work.
- Ask the tutor where they travel from on that day of the week, not just where they live.
- Keep a parent at home for the demo and judge it with our demo class checklist.
How NXTutors can help
Tell us the subject, class, board and your area, and whether you want home or online classes. We shortlist two or three matched tutors, you see each tutor's fee before the demo, and the first class is a free demo. If the fit is not right later, switching tutor is free. For specialist requests, start with IB Maths tutors in Gurgaon, IGCSE Maths tutors, IB Physics tutors or IB and IGCSE Chemistry tutors.
Across NXTutors most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end, and specialists for IB HL can charge more. The guide to home tuition in Gurgaon covers every zone of the city.
Frequently asked questions
Can one tutor teach my child at home in DLF and online on other days?
Yes, and in this zone it often makes sense. A home class early in the week for new topics, plus a short online session on a busy evening, avoids the worst office traffic while keeping the same tutor.
Why is it harder to get a 7 pm slot here?
Evening slots are the most requested everywhere, and in this zone the tutor may also be crossing office traffic. An earlier slot, or a tutor who already teaches nearby that evening, is usually more reliable.
We live in a tower with app-based entry. Does that cause problems?
Usually not, once the tutor is registered as a regular visitor. Sort it out before the demo so the first class does not start late at the gate.
Is it worth paying more for an IB or IGCSE specialist?
For senior years, often yes, because these courses have internal assessments and paper styles that a general tutor may not know. For younger classes, a strong general Maths or Science tutor is often enough.
Do tutors from Sohna Road or Golf Course Extension Road come here?
Many do, especially in the afternoon. Ask each shortlisted tutor where they will be travelling from on your class days, as that matters more than their home address.
