Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Chemistry is really three subjects sharing one timetable slot. Physical chemistry is numerical and feels like physics; inorganic chemistry is pattern and memory; organic chemistry is a language of mechanisms that either clicks or does not. Most students in Gurugram are comfortable with one of the three and struggling with another, which is why a chemistry tutor who diagnoses before teaching is worth far more than one who simply starts at chapter one. This guide explains chemistry home tuition across Gurugram: the zones our tutors cover, how chemistry is examined in CBSE, ICSE, ISC, IB and IGCSE schools, what Class 11 and 12 actually contain in 2026-27, two worked examples, how tuition fits alongside NEET and JEE coaching, and what fees to expect.
Tell us the class, the exact course (CBSE, ISC, IB Chemistry SL or HL, IGCSE Chemistry 0620 Core or Extended), the goal (school, boards, NEET, JEE), which branch of chemistry is weak, your sector or society and your free slots. We shortlist two or three chemistry tutors within your budget, you choose one for a free demo class, and you can switch at no cost if the fit is wrong. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (see how we verify tutors).
For chemistry tuition in general, see our chemistry home tutor page.
Senior chemistry students often have coaching three or four evenings a week, so the tuition slot is usually late or at the weekend. We match on travel time at that hour. Browse tutors by locality on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon.
In DLF Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4, Phase 5 and along Golf Course Extension Road, requests split between CBSE or ISC Class 12 and IB or IGCSE chemistry. Gate timings in high-rise societies can limit late sessions, so we check them first.
South City 2, Sushant Lok Phase I, Nirvana Country, Ardee City, Sector 43, Sector 56 and Sector 57 see strong NEET demand. Organic chemistry doubt sessions after coaching are one of the most common requests here.
Around M3M Urbana, Emaar Palm Drive, Emaar Palm Hills, Vatika City, Palam Vihar and Greenwood City, a hybrid plan (one home visit, the rest online) often gets the strongest chemistry specialist.
Mole concept, thermodynamics, equilibrium, electrochemistry, kinetics. Students who struggle here usually have a maths or units problem, not a chemistry one. The fix is careful, repeated numerical practice with every step written out.
Nomenclature, isomerism, reaction mechanisms and conversions. It is cumulative: a weak grip on Class 11 basic principles makes Class 12 alcohols, aldehydes and amines feel like memorising hundreds of reactions. A tutor who teaches the logic of electron movement turns that list into a handful of ideas.
Periodicity, bonding, d- and f-block, coordination compounds. This rewards systematic revision and understanding trends rather than cramming facts. Short, frequent recall tests work better than long sessions.
Our guide to Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry goes into each branch in more detail.
| Board | Assessment shape | What tuition should focus on |
|---|---|---|
| CBSE Class 10 | Chemistry sits inside the 80-mark Science paper; Chemical Substances – Nature and Behaviour carries 25 marks in 2026-27 | Equations, acids, bases and salts, metals, carbon compounds; competency-based questions |
| ICSE Classes 9 and 10 | Chemistry is its own paper: 2 hours, 80 marks, plus 20 marks of practical internal assessment | Mole concept and stoichiometry, electrolysis, metallurgy, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry |
| CBSE (Classes 11 and 12) | 70-mark theory paper plus 30 marks of practical work | NCERT text and reactions, numericals, case-based questions, salt analysis and titration |
| ISC (Classes 11 and 12) | Theory paper plus practical and project work, set by CISCE | Depth of explanation, organic conversions, the practical examination |
| IB DP Chemistry (SL / HL) | Paper 1 (multiple choice plus data and experimental questions), Paper 2, scientific investigation 20% | Structure and reactivity framework, data handling, the IA |
| Cambridge IGCSE 0620 | Multiple choice, theory, and a practical test or Alternative to Practical | Core vs Extended, qualitative analysis, experimental skills |
Two 2026-27 details matter for younger students. In CBSE Class 10, Periodic Classification of Elements is still taught but assessed only through school-based (formative) work, not in the year-end paper. In ICSE Class 10, the periodic table is studied up to period 4 and no questions are asked on elements beyond it. For Classes 9 and 10 in depth, see our ICSE chemistry tutor in Gurgaon and Class 10 science tutor in Gurgaon pages. For the international courses, see our IB and IGCSE chemistry tutor in Gurgaon page, and for Cambridge Combined or Co-ordinated Sciences our IGCSE science tutor in Gurgaon page.
Class 11 is where chemistry turns numerical and organic chemistry begins: in the CBSE 2026-27 scheme the physical units carry most of the Class 11 theory marks, while in Class 12 the organic units carry nearly half. The mole concept and the organic basic principles from Class 11 decide how the board year goes, so help in the first term of Class 11 prevents a year of catching up.
Our Class 11 and 12 chemistry home tutors in Gurgaon page sets out the unit marks for both years, the practical scheme, how Class 11 chapters return in Class 12, worked problems and a plan for each year. The national Class 11 chemistry tutor and Class 12 chemistry tutor pages cover online help.
The fastest way to see whether a student's chemistry is secure is to watch them do one numerical and explain one mechanism. These two are pitched at CBSE Class 12 and ISC, and the same habits carry into NEET and JEE.
25.0 mL of oxalic acid solution needs 20.0 mL of 0.0200 mol L⁻¹ KMnO₄ in acid. Find the molarity of the oxalic
acid.
Ionic equation: 2MnO₄⁻ + 5C₂O₄²⁻ + 16H⁺ → 2Mn²⁺ + 10CO₂ + 8H₂O.
Moles of MnO₄⁻ = 0.0200 × 20.0 ÷ 1000 = 4.00 × 10⁻⁴ mol.
Moles of oxalate = 4.00 × 10⁻⁴ × 5/2 = 1.00 × 10⁻³ mol.
Molarity = 1.00 × 10⁻³ ÷ (25.0 ÷ 1000) = 0.0400 mol L⁻¹.
Bromomethane with aqueous hydroxide reacts by SN2: the OH⁻ attacks the carbon from the side opposite the bromine, the C–O bond forms as the C–Br bond breaks in a single step, and the configuration is inverted. The rate depends on both the haloalkane and OH⁻. 2-Bromo-2-methylpropane reacts by SN1 instead: the C–Br bond breaks first to give a tertiary carbocation, stabilised by three alkyl groups, which OH⁻ then attacks. Its rate depends only on the haloalkane, and at a chiral centre SN1 gives a racemic mixture.
The mistakes are predictable. In the titration, students use a 1 : 1 ratio because they skipped the equation; the 5/2 factor is where the marks are. In the mechanism, they draw the curly arrow from the bromine to the carbon instead of from the lone pair on oxygen to the carbon, or they cannot say why a tertiary haloalkane prefers SN1. A tutor who asks "why?" at each step turns both into routine.
| Mistake | Where it shows up | The fix |
|---|---|---|
| Mole ratios read from unbalanced equations | Stoichiometry, titration, solutions | Balance first, every time; write the ratio before calculating |
| Units dropped or mixed | Kinetics, electrochemistry, thermodynamics | Units carried through every line; answers checked for sense |
| Reagents learned without conditions | Organic conversions | Each reaction learned as reagent, condition and reason together |
| Mechanism arrows drawn backwards | Substitution, addition, elimination | Arrows always from electron-rich to electron-poor, practised on paper |
| Trends memorised with exceptions forgotten | Periodicity, d-block, group chemistry | Trend first, then each exception with its reason |
| Answers too short for the marks | Board papers (CBSE and ISC) | Matching answer length and detail to the marks on offer |
In CBSE Class 12, volumetric analysis and salt analysis carry 16 of the 30 practical marks. Both look intimidating and both are very learnable. Salt analysis is a logical flowchart: preliminary tests, then anion tests, then cation groups, each with a reason. Titration is careful technique plus one calculation done right. A tutor cannot run the experiments at home, and should not try, but can teach the reasoning, the observations to expect and the calculations so that lab time at school is used well. IB and IGCSE students have their own practical demands, the IB scientific investigation and IGCSE Paper 5 or 6; our IB and IGCSE chemistry page covers those.
In NEET (UG) 2026, chemistry was 45 of the 180 compulsory questions, worth 180 of the 720 marks, and a home tutor alongside coaching is most useful for working through the coaching sheets, fixing recurring errors and keeping the board score safe. JEE chemistry needs more depth in physical and organic chemistry and a different speed. Our NEET chemistry tutor in Gurgaon and JEE chemistry tutor in Gurgaon pages cover each exam in full, and our important NEET chemistry chapters guide helps with priorities.
The right tutor depends on the student, but good chemistry tuition has recognisable habits. In the demo and the first few weeks, look for:
A well-run session usually moves through the same four parts: a quick recall check on last week's reactions, formulae or trends; homework and school doubts, worked by the student with the tutor guiding; one idea taught properly, such as a mechanism, a type of numerical or a block of the periodic table; and a few questions in the board or entrance style with a short, clear task to follow. For NEET or JEE students alongside coaching, the balance shifts towards doubts and timed questions; for IB students, some sessions go to data-based questions and the investigation. Either way, your child should be writing for most of the session. If the demo misses on several of these, ask us for the next tutor; switching is free. You can also browse tutors directly.
For Class 11, two sessions a week is usually enough if help starts early. For Class 12 boards, two or three. For NEET or JEE students already in coaching, one or two focused doubt-and-test sessions often do more than extra teaching hours. IGCSE students commonly need one or two a week, rising before the exam series; IB HL students two, with extra time around the internal assessment. If your child has a test in a fortnight and three chapters missing, we can look for a tutor with extra slots for a short intensive stretch.
Organic chemistry benefits from pen and paper: mechanisms, arrows and structures are easier to correct over the student's shoulder. Online works well for physical chemistry numericals and for doubt sessions after coaching, and widens the choice of specialists. Many Gurugram families use one home session plus one or two online.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Travel at peak hours and the number of sessions a week also move the fee, and online sessions remove the travel. You see each tutor's fee before the demo; our pricing guide explains more.
Tell us the class, the course, the goal and your locality. Book a free demo class or start from the page of home tutors in Gurgaon. Families near Sectors 45 and 46 and Sector 54 often ask about the CBSE chemistry pattern followed at schools such as Delhi Public School Gurgaon and Suncity School; our guide to Gurugram schools and their boards lists which board each one follows. If physics also needs work, see our physics home tutor in Gurgaon page; for Classes 6 to 10, see science home tutor in Gurgaon.
Parents often tell us their child's school so the tutor can follow the same board and books. These Gurugram schools follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as shown on each school's own site or its board's directory, with the sector each is in. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; tutors are matched by board and syllabus, and the list is alphabetical, not a ranking.

In the demo, look for diagnosis across physical, organic and inorganic chemistry and full working in numericals.
Yes, NXTutors matches chemistry tutors across Gurgaon, from the DLF phases, Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension Road to Sohna Road, South City and Sushant Lok. We also cover Sectors 43, 56 and 57, the newer sectors off NH-48 and Dwarka Expressway, and Old Gurgaon. Share your society and time, and we match on travel time at that hour.
A Gurgaon chemistry home tutor fits around NEET coaching by working through the coaching sheets and tests, fixing recurring errors and keeping NCERT inorganic and organic chemistry line by line. The tutor also protects the board score. In NEET (UG) 2026, chemistry was 45 of the 180 questions, and we shortlist tutors who teach NEET chemistry regularly.
Gurgaon chemistry home tutors on NXTutors teach CBSE and ISC for Classes 11 and 12, IB Diploma Chemistry at SL and HL, and Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620. Each board examines chemistry differently, so tell us the exact course and we match tutors who teach it.
Yes, NXTutors matches ICSE chemistry tutors in Gurgaon for Classes 9 and 10 who teach the CISCE syllabus. ICSE examines chemistry as its own two-hour, 80-mark paper plus 20 marks of practical internal assessment. Topics include mole concept and stoichiometry, electrolysis, metallurgy, analytical and organic chemistry, with the periodic table examined up to period 4.
Two or three chemistry sessions a week is typical for a Gurgaon Class 12 student preparing for the boards. Students already in NEET or JEE coaching often do well with one or two focused doubt-and-test sessions. For Class 11, two a week is usually enough if help starts early in the year.
Yes, you can ask for a woman chemistry tutor in Gurgaon, and we shortlist women tutors where available. Mention the preference when you share your requirement. If the choice is narrower in your sector or time slot, we say so and suggest alternatives such as online sessions.
Home chemistry tuition in Gurgaon helps most with numericals, mechanisms and practical preparation, because the tutor sees every line of working. Online suits doubt-and-test sessions around coaching and widens the choice to IB or ISC specialists across Gurugram. Many families mix both with the same tutor through the week.
Yes, a Gurgaon chemistry tutor can prepare your child for salt analysis and titration by teaching the reasoning behind each step rather than a list to learn. The experiments happen in the school lab, so the tutor rehearses tests, observations, inferences and titration calculations on paper. An extra session before the practical exam is common.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
