Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Class 11 and 12 maths home tutor in Gurgaon teaches the two years in which school maths becomes abstract: sets, functions, trigonometry, algebra, conic sections and the first limits in Class 11, then relations, matrices, a long run of calculus, vectors, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability in Class 12. NXTutors shortlists two or three maths tutors who teach your child's board (CBSE, ISC or IB Diploma maths) and can reach your sector or teach online; you see each fee before booking and the first class is a free demo. This page lays out the 2026-27 CBSE unit marks, how the two years link, four worked problems, a plan around the school's periodic tests and how to judge a tutor.
Up to Class 10, most maths questions ask the student to carry out a method they have seen. From Class 11 the questions ask for definitions, domains and reasons: why a function has no inverse, why a limit exists, why a system of equations has no solution. Students who did well by practising patterns can suddenly feel lost, and the feeling arrives early, with sets, relations and trigonometric functions in the first term.
A senior maths tutor rebuilds the habits this level needs: reading a definition carefully, writing each step with a reason, checking an answer against a sketch, and doing enough mixed practice that a question from any chapter feels familiar. For maths tuition at every level in the city, see our maths home tutors in Gurgaon page.
CBSE Mathematics (subject code 041) is one 3-hour, 80-mark paper in Class 11, with 20 marks of internal assessment. The 2026-27 course structure sets these unit marks:
| Unit | Chapters | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Sets and Functions | Sets; Relations and Functions; Trigonometric Functions | 23 |
| Algebra | Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations; Linear Inequalities; Permutations and Combinations; Binomial Theorem; Sequence and Series | 25 |
| Coordinate Geometry | Straight Lines; Conic Sections; Introduction to Three-dimensional Geometry | 12 |
| Calculus | Limits and Derivatives | 8 |
| Statistics and Probability | Statistics; Probability | 12 |
| Paper total (internal assessment adds 20) | 80 | |
Algebra and Sets and Functions together carry 48 of the 80 marks. CBSE also lists topics that stay in the Class 11 syllabus but are assessed only formatively in 2026-27, including the Principle of Mathematical Induction, the composition of functions, general solutions of trigonometric equations and the chain rule. A good tutor still teaches them: the chain rule, for one, is needed in Class 12 calculus whatever the Class 11 paper asks.
| Unit | Chapters | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Relations and Functions | Relations and Functions; Inverse Trigonometric Functions | 8 |
| Algebra | Matrices; Determinants | 10 |
| Calculus | Continuity and Differentiability; Applications of Derivatives; Integrals; Applications of the Integrals; Differential Equations | 35 |
| Vectors and Three-dimensional Geometry | Vectors; Three-dimensional Geometry | 14 |
| Linear Programming | Linear Programming | 5 |
| Probability | Probability | 8 |
| Paper total (internal assessment adds 20) | 80 | |
Calculus alone is 35 of the 80 marks, more than any two other units together. Its five chapters run in a chain, so a student who is unsure of differentiation in the first term struggles with integration in the second. Our CBSE Class 12 calculus and algebra guide goes chapter by chapter.
The periodic tests are the natural checkpoints for a tutor's plan: each one shows whether the last stretch of chapters is secure before the next begins.
| Learnt in Class 11 | Needed again in Class 12 |
|---|---|
| Sets, relations and functions; domain and range | Types of relations, one-one and onto functions, inverse trigonometric functions |
| Trigonometric functions and identities | Inverse trigonometric functions, and integrals solved by trigonometric substitution |
| Limits and derivatives (with the chain rule) | Continuity and differentiability, applications of derivatives |
| Straight lines and conic sections | Area under simple curves (lines, circles, parabolas, ellipses in standard form); the graphical method in linear programming |
| Introduction to three-dimensional geometry | Vectors and the equation of a line in space |
| Probability of events | Conditional probability, independent events and Bayes' theorem |
The pattern is the same as in physics and chemistry: Class 11 is not a rehearsal year. Students who rush it usually spend the first months of Class 12 relearning it under far more pressure.
Many Class 11 and 12 maths students in Gurugram are also preparing for JEE. In the 2026 cycle (check the 2027 bulletin when NTA publishes it), JEE Main Paper 1 had 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value questions in mathematics, marked +4 and −1 in both sections, and when candidates tie on the total, NTA's tie-break looks at the mathematics score first. JEE Advanced 2026 had two compulsory papers, each with a mathematics section, and showed its marking scheme only at the exam.
The board paper rewards complete, reasoned working; JEE rewards speed, choosing a method quickly and avoiding the negative mark. A tutor serving both should keep board-style written practice going while adding timed sets, and a student aiming at JEE Advanced usually needs a specialist too. See JEE maths tutors in Gurgaon, the JEE home tutors in Gurgaon page and our guide to JEE coaching or a home tutor.
Question. Using the definition, find the derivative of f(x) = x².
The marks are in step 1: the definition must be written before any algebra.
Question. How many different arrangements are there of the letters of the word LEVEL?
Forgetting one of the repeated letters gives 60; listing the repeats first prevents it.
Question. Evaluate the integral of x eˣ from 0 to 1.
The common slip is the sign of the lower limit; writing both brackets in full avoids it.
Question. Bag A holds 3 red and 2 black balls; bag B holds 1 red and 4 black. A bag is chosen at random and a ball drawn from it is red. What is the probability it came from bag A?
Students who answer 3/5 have found P(red | A), the reverse question: naming each event first is the fix.
Your school's chapter order comes first; this shape lines up with CBSE's suggested periodic-test months:
The Class 11 and Class 12 home tutor guides for Gurgaon show how maths fits with the rest of the stream; PCM students can pair this page with Class 11 and 12 physics.
Maths is the senior subject that most needs a tutor watching the working, at home or through a writing tablet online. Around DLF Phase 1, Sector 43 and Sector 31, senior maths tutors are usually within reach for after-school slots. In newer sectors such as Sector 86, a weekly home session for new chapters with online practice between often brings a stronger calculus or JEE specialist within reach. Every sector and zone is on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon.
Tell us the class, board and course (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, ISC or IB), any JEE plans, the chapter that hurts most, your sector and the free slots. We shortlist two or three maths tutors, each with the fee shown, and you book a free demo class. In the demo:

Parents often tell us their child's school so the tutor can follow the same board and books. These Gurugram schools follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as shown on each school's own site or its board's directory, with the sector each is in. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; tutors are matched by board and syllabus, and the list is alphabetical, not a ranking.

Calculus carries 35 of the 80 paper marks in Class 12: continuity and differentiability, applications of derivatives, integrals, applications of the integrals and differential equations. Vectors and three-dimensional geometry carry 14, algebra 10, relations and functions 8, probability 8 and linear programming 5. Internal assessment adds 20.
In the CBSE 2026-27 scheme, Algebra carries 25 of the 80 paper marks and Sets and Functions 23, so the two together are 48. Coordinate Geometry and Statistics and Probability carry 12 each, and Limits and Derivatives 8. CBSE also asks schools to cover every chapter, since there is no chapter-wise weightage within units.
A few topics stay in the 2026-27 syllabus but are assessed only formatively, in class, rather than in the year-end paper. They include the Principle of Mathematical Induction, composition of functions, general solutions of trigonometric equations and the chain rule. A good tutor still teaches them, because Class 12 calculus uses the chain rule constantly.
Ten marks come from periodic tests, using the better two of three, and ten from mathematics activities from the NCERT laboratory manual: record keeping 5, a year-end activity test 3 and a viva 2. CBSE suggests the three periodic tests around July to August, November, and December to January, though schools can set their own dates.
Usually, for JEE Main, if the tutor keeps board-style written answers going and adds timed practice. In JEE Main 2026, mathematics had 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value questions with a mark lost for each wrong answer, and ties were broken on the mathematics score first. Students aiming at JEE Advanced usually need a specialist as well.
Yes; say so in the request, because the courses differ. CBSE Applied Mathematics (241) is an elective aimed at students heading towards commerce, economics or the social sciences, with units such as Numbers and Quantification, Descriptive Statistics and Basics of Financial Mathematics alongside algebra and calculus. We match tutors who teach that course.
Yes. ISC Mathematics is set by CISCE with its own paper and project, and IB Diploma maths runs as Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation at Standard or Higher Level. Tell us the exact course and level, and we shortlist tutors who teach it rather than CBSE alone.
Each tutor sets their own fee, shown before the free demo class. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
