NEET physics tutor in Gurgaon: concepts first, then numericals, then speed

For many NEET students, physics is the section that decides the final score. Students who chose biology because they enjoy it often carry physics as the subject they fear, and the fear shows in mocks as skipped questions, rushed numericals and wrong guesses that cost a mark each. The good news is that NEET physics is narrower and more predictable than it looks: most questions test one idea cleanly applied. A one-to-one tutor in Gurugram can find the exact step where a student breaks down, rebuild that idea, and then train speed under the paper's real conditions. This guide covers the 2026 pattern and syllabus, how Class 11 and Class 12 physics divide the units, why physics lags for biology students, worked examples, time budgeting in mocks, and how to set up tutoring around school, coaching and the roads.

Physics in the NEET (UG) paper

These figures are for the 2026 cycle; check the 2027 bulletin when NTA publishes it. NEET (UG) 2026 was a single-shift, 3-hour, pen-and-paper examination of 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions. Physics had 45 of them, worth 180 of the 720 marks, the same share as chemistry and half that of biology. Each correct answer earned +4, each wrong answer −1, and a blank 0.

Physics therefore carries a quarter of the marks, but it usually takes far more than a quarter of the time. That imbalance, not the content, is what most physics tuition for NEET has to fix.

The NMC physics syllabus: twenty units

The National Medical Commission (NMC) sets the syllabus; NTA and NMC both post it on their sites. For 2026 the physics units run from Physics and Measurement to Experimental Skills:

NEET (UG) 2026 physics units, grouped by theme
ThemeNMC unitsWhat students find hard
MechanicsPhysics and Measurement; Kinematics; Laws of Motion; Work, Energy and Power; Rotational Motion; GravitationFree-body diagrams, sign conventions, and moment of inertia set-ups
Matter and heatProperties of Solids and Liquids; Thermodynamics; Kinetic Theory of GasesWhich quantity stays constant in each thermodynamic process
Oscillations and wavesOscillations and WavesPhase, and the difference between particle and wave speed
Electricity and magnetismElectrostatics; Current Electricity; Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism; Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents; Electromagnetic WavesField direction, Kirchhoff's laws, and Lenz's law read backwards
OpticsOpticsSign conventions for mirrors and lenses; interference conditions
Modern physicsDual Nature of Matter and Radiation; Atoms and Nuclei; Electronic DevicesFormula recall without units; logic-gate truth tables
Practical workExperimental SkillsInstruments known by name but never read: vernier calipers, screw gauge, metre bridge

The Experimental Skills unit deserves a specific mention. It asks for familiarity with the approach and observations of listed experiments, including the vernier calipers, the screw gauge, the simple pendulum, the metre bridge, Ohm's law, focal length by the parallax method and the forward and reverse characteristics of a p-n junction and a Zener diode. Students who did these practicals quickly at school often lose easy marks here, and a tutor can revise them with labelled sketches and sample readings.

How Class 11 and Class 12 physics divide the units

CBSE's Physics (042) curriculum for 2026-27, which follows the NCERT books, shows the split. Each class has a 70-mark, 3-hour theory paper in school.

CBSE Physics 042, 2026-27: theory units
Class 11Class 12
Physical World and Measurement; Kinematics; Laws of Motion; Work, Energy and PowerElectrostatics; Current Electricity
Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body; GravitationMagnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism; Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents
Properties of Bulk Matter; Thermodynamics; Behaviour of Perfect Gases and Kinetic Theory of GasesElectromagnetic Waves; Optics
Oscillations and WavesDual Nature of Radiation and Matter; Atoms and Nuclei; Electronic Devices

Class 11 is mechanics-heavy and is where most NEET physics trouble starts. The step up from Class 10 is sharp: Class 10 science treats motion and electricity descriptively, while Class 11 expects vectors, graphs and multi-step problems from the first chapters. A student who drifts through Class 11 mechanics struggles again in Class 12, because rotational motion, electrostatics and magnetism all reuse the same ideas of force, energy and vectors. Our physics home tutor in Gurgaon page covers the school-side subject on every board.

Why physics lags for biology students, and how a tutor repairs it

The causes are usually specific, which is why one-to-one help works:

  • Formulas without conditions. The student knows v = u + at but not that it needs constant acceleration, so it gets used where it does not apply.
  • Weak maths tools. Vectors, basic trigonometry, graphs and simple calculus appear in Class 11 physics before many students are comfortable with them.
  • No diagram habit. Students who draw the situation (forces, rays, circuits) solve far more than those who start with numbers.
  • Avoidance. Physics is postponed in favour of biology, which feels productive. The gap then widens with every chapter.

Concept repair means going back one step, not one chapter. If a student cannot do projectile questions, the tutor checks resolution of vectors first, then motion in one dimension, and rebuilds from the first step that fails. The same method applies to circuits (Ohm's law and series-parallel reduction before Kirchhoff) and to optics (sign convention before any formula). Our NEET physics tutor guide sets out the national view of this method.

Worked examples a tutor would use

1. Kinematics: two phases of motion

Beginning at rest, a scooter gains speed at a steady 3 m/s² for 4 s and then holds that speed for another 6 s. What total distance does it cover? (a) 96 m (b) 120 m (c) 72 m (d) 48 m

Phase one: s = ½at² = ½ × 3 × 4² = 24 m, and the speed reached is v = at = 12 m/s. Phase two: 12 m/s × 6 s = 72 m. Total 96 m, option (a). The trap is (b): using 12 m/s for the whole 10 s, as if the scooter had that speed from the start. A velocity-time sketch, a triangle then a rectangle, makes the error impossible.

2. Current electricity: internal resistance

A cell of emf 12 V and internal resistance 1 Ω is connected to 3 Ω and 6 Ω resistors in parallel. What is the potential difference across the cell's terminals? (a) 12 V (b) 8 V (c) 4 V (d) 6 V

3 Ω and 6 Ω in parallel give 18/9 = 2 Ω. Total resistance 2 + 1 = 3 Ω, so I = 12/3 = 4 A. Terminal p.d. = E − Ir = 12 − 4 × 1 = 8 V, option (b). Check: 8/3 A through 3 Ω plus 8/6 A through 6 Ω makes 4 A. Students who forget the internal resistance pick (a).

3. Optics: a convex lens

A convex lens has a focal length of 20 cm, and an object stands 30 cm away from it. Where is the image, and what is its nature?

With the sign convention, u = −30 cm and f = +20 cm. 1/v = 1/f + 1/u = 1/20 − 1/30 = 1/60, so v = +60 cm. The magnification is m = v/u = 60/(−30) = −2: a real, inverted image, magnified two times, forms 60 cm beyond the lens. Most errors here are sign errors, which is why a tutor insists on writing the convention before the numbers.

To choose chapters for practice, read our high-yield NEET physics chapters list, which shows where to practise first.

Time budgeting in mocks

The 2026 paper gave three hours for 180 questions across all three subjects, with no separate time for each. Biology questions are mostly quick recall; physics numericals are not. A student without a plan spends too long on one hard numerical and then rushes biology, where marks were easy.

  1. Choose an order and keep it. Many students do biology first to bank its marks, then chemistry, then physics. Others prefer physics while fresh. Test both orders in mocks and keep the one that scores more.
  2. Two passes through physics. First pass: answer what is clear at once, mark what needs work, skip what is unclear. Second pass: the marked questions only.
  3. A rule for leaving blanks. If two options cannot be ruled out, leave it. With −1 for a wrong answer, blind guesses lose marks on average.
  4. Note the time after each section. Write the clock time in the margin when finishing each subject, and compare it across mocks.

A tutor reviewing the mock looks at both the marks and those margin times. A student who scores well in physics but finishes it late is borrowing from biology; the fix is speed drills on the chapters that eat the most time.

Slips that cost physics marks

  • Mixing units. Centimetres and metres in the same formula, or grams in place of kilograms.
  • Dropping signs. In optics, in work done by friction, and in charges in electrostatics.
  • Reading graphs as pictures. A straight position-time line means constant velocity, not a car on a straight road.
  • Solving in the head. Two lines of working on the rough sheet catch most slips.
  • Only solving coaching sheets. The NCERT examples and exercises build the concepts that MCQs test; skipping them leaves gaps.

How a home tutor plans the two years

A NEET physics plan across Classes 11 and 12 (adjust to the school calendar)
PeriodPhysics focus
Class 11, first termMeasurement, kinematics and laws of motion; vectors and graphs repaired early
Class 11, second termWork and energy, rotation, gravitation, matter and thermodynamics; chapter-wise timed MCQs
Class 11, after school examsMechanics revision before Class 12 begins; oscillations and waves secured
Class 12, first termElectrostatics, current electricity and magnetism, with mechanics mixed into weekly tests
Class 12, second termInduction, optics and modern physics; Experimental Skills revised; full mocks begin
Board exams to NEETBoard-style derivations first, then full mocks, time budgeting and error-list revision

In a drop year the order is the same but faster, starting with the units where mocks show the largest losses. Students also preparing for engineering can compare our JEE physics tutor in Gurgaon page, which goes deeper into multi-concept problems.

Boards and NEET physics

CBSE students study from the NCERT books, so school and NEET content line up; the tutor's work is speed and accuracy. ISC students cover physics in good depth but should work through the NCERT examples as well, because NEET questions follow that framing. Students on IB or other international courses should compare their course unit by unit with the NMC syllabus, and check the qualifying-examination rules in the current bulletin before planning. In every case, school exams reward full derivations and written reasoning, so the tutor switches to board-style answers before school tests and back to MCQs afterwards.

Home, online or hybrid: physics in a Gurugram week

Physics is the subject where a tutor in the room helps most, since every written step is visible to someone sitting alongside. In Gurgaon that has to be balanced against evening traffic on the main roads and the time students already spend on school, coaching and travel.

  • A longer home session on a weekend morning or a free afternoon, when roads are quieter, for new concepts and problem sets.
  • A short online session on a weekday for doubts from coaching sheets, with the notebook on camera.
  • Mocks at home on paper over three hours, at the weekend, reviewed with the tutor afterwards.

In DLF Phase 4 and Sector 57, home physics sessions are usually practical. Families in Palam Vihar often find local tutors, and in Sector 82 and other newer sectors a hybrid plan brings a physics specialist within reach. Sector-by-sector listings sit on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon, or go back to the NEET home tutor in Gurgaon hub. For the other subjects, see the NEET biology tutor and NEET chemistry tutor pages for Gurgaon, and the Gurgaon article NEET preparation: coaching or a home tutor.

How to choose and test a NEET physics tutor in the demo

  • Bring two questions the student could not solve from a coaching sheet or mock. Watch whether the tutor finds the failing step or simply solves it.
  • Ask the tutor to set one question on the same idea and let the student try it alone.
  • Ask how they would plan the next month from the student's last mock.
  • Check that the tutor uses the NCERT framing and the NMC unit list, not only a coaching module.

Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. Read how the ID check works. The first class is a free demo class; if the fit is wrong we arrange the next tutor, and switching later is free.

Fees and getting started

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee and you see it before the demo. Our home tuition fees in Gurgaon guide helps with budgeting.

Tell us the class, board, coaching days if any, the physics chapters or mock sections that worry you, your sector and when the student is free. We send two or three matched tutors; the student meets one in the demo first.

NEET Physics Home Tutor in Gurgaon (Gurugram): common questions

What share of the NEET paper is physics?

In NEET (UG) 2026, physics had 45 of the 180 questions, worth 180 of the 720 marks, with +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong one and 0 for a blank. These figures are for the 2026 cycle; check the 2027 bulletin when NTA publishes it.

What does the NEET physics syllabus cover?

The NMC syllabus for 2026 has 20 physics units, from Physics and Measurement through mechanics, heat, oscillations and waves, electricity and magnetism, optics and modern physics, to Experimental Skills, which asks for familiarity with listed experiments such as the screw gauge, metre bridge and diode characteristics.

Why is physics the hardest NEET section for many biology students?

Usually because formulas were learnt without the conditions they need, the maths tools (vectors, graphs, basic trigonometry) are shaky, diagrams are not drawn, and physics gets postponed in favour of biology. A one-to-one tutor finds the first step that fails and rebuilds from there, instead of re-teaching whole chapters.

Can a NEET physics tutor work alongside coaching?

Yes. The tutor works on the coaching questions the student could not solve and on the chapters where mocks lose the most marks, rather than repeating the lecture. Share the coaching days and we shortlist tutors whose slots fit, often a weekend home session plus a short weekday online session.

How should a NEET student manage time for physics in the paper?

There is no separate time per subject, so practise a fixed order in mocks and keep the one that scores more. Go through physics in two passes, answering clear questions first and returning to marked ones, and agree a rule for leaving blanks because a wrong answer costs a mark.

Is home or online better for NEET physics tuition in Gurgaon?

Physics benefits from a tutor watching the working, so many Gurugram families keep one home session on a weekend morning or free afternoon, when roads are quieter, and add a short online session on a weekday for doubts. Online works well if the student's notebook is clearly on camera.

How much does a NEET physics tutor cost in Gurgaon?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee and you see each one before the demo.

What should we look for in the free demo with a physics tutor?

Bring two questions the student could not solve. A good tutor finds the step where the student went wrong, then sets a similar question for the student to try alone. Ask how the next month would be planned from the latest mock. If the fit is wrong, we arrange the next demo, and switching later is free.
