Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Class 11 and 12 physics home tutor in Gurgaon teaches only the two senior years: mechanics, matter, heat and waves in Class 11, then electricity, magnetism, optics and modern physics in Class 12, examined the way your child's board examines them (CBSE, ISC or the IB Diploma) and, where it applies, with JEE or NEET in view. NXTutors shortlists two or three physics tutors who teach these classes and can reach your sector or teach you online; you see each fee before booking, and the first class is a free demo. Below: what each year carries in the 2026-27 CBSE scheme, how Class 11 feeds Class 12, three worked problems, a term plan and how to test a tutor.
Physics after Class 10 stops being a list of laws to state and becomes a set of tools to use. A student who scored well in Class 10 can still struggle in the first term of Class 11, because almost every chapter now needs vectors, graphs and a little calculus at the same time as the physics itself. A good senior tutor works on four things at once:
For the wider picture of physics tuition across all boards and classes, see our physics home tutors in Gurgaon page; this page stays with Classes 11 and 12.
CBSE Physics (subject code 042) has a 3-hour, 70-mark theory paper in Class 11, plus 30 marks of practical work. The 2026-27 curriculum groups the ten units like this:
| Unit group | Units | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| I–IV | Physical World and Measurement; Kinematics; Laws of Motion; Work, Energy and Power | 23 |
| V–VI | Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body; Gravitation | 17 |
| VII–IX | Properties of Bulk Matter; Thermodynamics; Behaviour of Perfect Gases and Kinetic Theory of Gases | 20 |
| X | Oscillations and Waves | 10 |
| Theory total (practical work adds 30) | 70 | |
Read the table as a timetable warning. The first six units, all mechanics in one form or another, carry 40 of the 70 theory marks, and they come first in the year, exactly when the student is still finding their feet. A student who leaves Kinematics and Laws of Motion half understood in the summer pays for it in rotational motion in the autumn and in gravitation after that. That is why we suggest starting a Class 11 tutor in the first term rather than after the half-yearly result.
The Class 12 paper has the same shape, 3 hours and 70 marks, with the practical worth 30. The units group into five blocks:
| Block | Units | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Electricity | Electrostatics; Current Electricity | 16 |
| Magnetism | Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism; Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents | 17 |
| Waves and light | Electromagnetic Waves; Optics | 18 |
| Modern physics | Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter; Atoms and Nuclei | 12 |
| Electronics | Electronic Devices | 7 |
| Theory total | 70 | |
| Practical | Two experiments (7 + 7), practical record 5, activity 3, investigatory project 3, viva 5 | 30 |
The first three blocks together carry 51 of the 70 marks. Modern physics and electronics are shorter and more direct, which makes them good chapters to secure in the final term, but the year is won or lost in electricity, magnetism and optics. The practical scheme also rewards steady work: the record, the activity and the project are 11 of the 30 practical marks and are prepared well before the exam day, and the viva adds 5 more. Our CBSE Class 12 physics strategies post goes chapter by chapter.
Gurugram students in Classes 11 and 12 are not all on CBSE. Two other routes need a tutor who knows their style:
A student who changes board after Class 10, say from IGCSE or ICSE into CBSE, usually needs a few weeks on the NCERT style of answer before the first unit test. Tell us the old and the new board in the request, and read our Class 11 home tutors in Gurgaon guide for the rest of the stream.
Parents often treat Class 11 as a rehearsal because it has no board exam. In physics that is a costly mistake: most Class 12 chapters reuse a Class 11 idea under a new name. A tutor who teaches both years makes the link explicit.
| Learnt in Class 11 | Reused in Class 12 | What goes wrong without it |
|---|---|---|
| Adding and resolving vectors | Net electric field of several charges; force on a current in a magnetic field | Fields added as plain numbers; directions dropped |
| Work, potential energy and conservation of energy | Electric potential, energy stored in a capacitor, speed of a charge accelerated through a voltage | Potential and field confused; signs lost |
| Uniform circular motion | A charged particle moving in a magnetic field (the radius r = mv/qB) | The centripetal force is not identified |
| Simple harmonic motion | Alternating current and LC oscillations | Phase and peak versus rms values muddled |
| Superposition of waves | Interference and diffraction in wave optics | Path difference and phase difference mixed up |
| Torque and rotational motion | Torque on a current loop or magnetic dipole in a field | The angle in τ = mB sin θ taken from the wrong line |
The practical side carries over too: errors, significant figures and graph plotting from the Class 11 laboratory are exactly what the Class 12 viva and the record ask about.
Many Class 11 and 12 students in Gurugram sit an entrance exam as well as the board. The syllabus overlaps heavily; the way marks are earned does not. These are the 2026 patterns (check the 2027 bulletins when NTA publishes them):
| Exam | Physics in the paper | What it changes for tuition |
|---|---|---|
| JEE Main 2026, Paper 1 | 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value questions in physics; +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong one in both sections | Speed, accuracy and judgement about which questions to leave |
| JEE Advanced 2026 | Two compulsory papers, each with physics, chemistry and maths sections; the marking scheme is shown only at the exam | Multi-concept problems well beyond board level |
| NEET (UG) 2026 | 45 physics questions worth 180 of the 720 marks; +4 and −1 | Quick numericals and close knowledge of NCERT, including the listed experiments |
The NEET physics syllabus, notified by the NMC, has 20 units ending in Experimental Skills, which names familiar laboratory work such as the vernier calipers, the screw gauge, the simple pendulum, the metre bridge and the characteristic curves of a p-n junction diode. That is a useful bridge: careful practical work for the board also answers NEET questions. A board-first tutor can carry a student through Class 11 and 12 with entrance practice added; a student chasing JEE Advanced usually needs a specialist as well. See our JEE physics tutors in Gurgaon, NEET physics tutors in Gurgaon, and the full JEE and NEET pages.
Question. A ball is thrown at 20 m/s at 30° above the horizontal from level ground. Taking g = 10 m/s², find the time of flight, the greatest height and the horizontal range.
The common slip is using cos 30° for the vertical motion. Writing the two components on the diagram before any formula prevents it.
Question. Capacitors of 2 µF and 3 µF are joined in series across a 10 V supply. Find the equivalent capacitance, the charge on each and the voltage across each.
Students who carry over the resistor rule add the two values and get 5 µF. The check that the voltages sum to the supply catches it every time.
Question. An object stands 30 cm in front of a convex lens of focal length 20 cm. Where is the image, and what is its magnification?
Taking u as +30 cm gives v = 12 cm and a magnification of +0.4, a wrong answer that looks plausible. One sign convention, used every time, is the cure.
Schools order chapters differently, so the tutor follows your school's sequence, but a workable shape is:
The Class 12 home tutors in Gurgaon page shows how physics fits beside the other subjects and coaching in the final year.
Senior students have the least free time of anyone we tutor: school, coaching and practical work fill the week. A physics tutor who can reach you reliably matters more than one who lives a little closer on the map. In central and older sectors such as South City 1, Sector 49 or Palam Vihar, home sessions after school are usually easy to arrange. In newer belts such as Sector 82, where fewer specialists live nearby, a weekly home session for new chapters with online sessions for numericals and doubts often brings a stronger tutor within reach.
Online physics works well for numericals and doubt clearing if the tutor can see the student's working, through a writing tablet or a camera angled at the notebook; derivations and diagrams are easier at a table together. Every sector and zone is on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon, and the Class 11 and 12 maths page covers the maths that runs alongside physics.
Send us the class, board, school sequence if you have it, the entrance goal (if any), the weakest chapter, your sector and the free slots. We shortlist two or three physics tutors, each with the fee shown, and you book a free demo class. Use the demo as a test:
Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (how the check works). If the demo is not right, we set up the next tutor on the shortlist, and switching tutor later is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Parents often tell us their child's school so the tutor can follow the same board and books. These Gurugram schools follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as shown on each school's own site or its board's directory, with the sector each is in. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; tutors are matched by board and syllabus, and the list is alphabetical, not a ranking.

Start in Class 11 if there is any doubt. In the CBSE 2026-27 scheme the six mechanics-based units carry 40 of the 70 Class 11 theory marks, and Class 12 electrostatics, magnetism and wave optics reuse vectors, energy, circular motion and oscillations from Class 11. A tutor who fixes those in the first term saves far more time in Class 12 than one who starts after the pre-boards.
Electrostatics with current electricity carries 16 marks, magnetism with electromagnetic induction and alternating current 17, and electromagnetic waves with optics 18, so these three blocks make up 51 of the 70 theory marks. Dual nature with atoms and nuclei carries 12 and electronic devices 7. The practical adds 30 marks: two experiments, the record, an activity, a project and the viva.
Often, yes. The syllabus overlaps, and a board-first tutor can add timed multiple-choice and numerical-value practice; in JEE Main 2026, physics had 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value questions, with a mark deducted for a wrong answer. A student aiming at JEE Advanced usually needs a specialist as well, because those problems combine several ideas at once.
Yes, tell us the board is ISC when you send the request. ISC physics covers similar ground with its own theory paper, practical examination and project set by CISCE, so we shortlist tutors who teach that course rather than CBSE alone, and ask them to work from the current CISCE syllabus for your child's exam year.
Two a week suits most students who are keeping up and want steady help; three suits a student catching up on mechanics or preparing for an entrance exam alongside the board. Fewer, regular sessions beat many irregular ones. In the weeks before the practical exam and the pre-boards, an extra session for full papers and viva questions is common.
They should. In Class 12 the practical is worth 30 marks: two experiments of 7 marks each, the record 5, an activity 3, the investigatory project 3 and the viva 5. A good tutor checks the record as the year goes, helps the student choose and plan the project without doing it for them, and rehearses the aims, diagrams and sources of error that viva questions draw on.
For numericals and doubt clearing it can be, provided the tutor sees the student's working through a writing tablet or a camera on the notebook. Derivations, diagrams and practical preparation are easier at the same table. In the newer Gurugram sectors many families use a weekly home session with online classes in between, which widens the choice of tutor.
Each tutor sets their own fee, and you see it before the free demo. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
