Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Class 11 and 12 chemistry home tutor in Gurgaon covers the two senior years that decide board chemistry and most of NEET or JEE chemistry: mole concept, atomic structure, thermodynamics, equilibrium and the first organic chapters in Class 11, then solutions, electrochemistry, kinetics, the d-block, coordination compounds and five organic units in Class 12. NXTutors shortlists two or three chemistry tutors who teach your child's board (CBSE, ISC or the IB Diploma) and can reach your sector or teach online, with each fee shown first and a free demo class. This page sets out the 2026-27 CBSE marks, how the two years connect, three worked problems, a plan for each year and what to ask a tutor.
Class 10 chemistry is mostly descriptive: reactions to write, properties to recall. Class 11 changes the subject under the student's feet. The first chapter asks for calculations with moles and molar masses; the second brings quantum numbers and orbitals; thermodynamics introduces signs that decide whether a reaction happens at all; and equilibrium needs logarithms for pH. Then organic chemistry arrives with its own language of effects and intermediates. A student can be good at chemistry and still lose a term to this change of style.
A senior chemistry tutor's first job is to find which strand is shaky, numerical, structural or organic, and to repair that before the school moves on. For the all-board overview, including younger classes, see our chemistry home tutors in Gurgaon page.
CBSE Chemistry (subject code 043) has a 3-hour, 70-mark theory paper in Class 11, plus 30 practical marks. The 2026-27 curriculum sets these unit marks:
| Unit | Strand | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry | Physical | 7 |
| Structure of Atom | Physical | 9 |
| Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties | Inorganic | 6 |
| Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure | Inorganic | 7 |
| Chemical Thermodynamics | Physical | 9 |
| Equilibrium | Physical | 7 |
| Redox Reactions | Physical | 4 |
| Organic Chemistry: Some Basic Principles and Techniques | Organic | 11 |
| Hydrocarbons | Organic | 10 |
| Theory total | 70 | |
Grouped by strand, physical chemistry carries 36 marks, organic 21 and the inorganic chapters 13. So Class 11 chemistry is, more than anything, a numerical subject, and the student who is comfortable with moles, logarithms and signs has a large head start. The two organic units are short in marks but long in consequence, because everything organic in Class 12 is built on them.
| Unit | Strand | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Solutions | Physical | 7 |
| Electrochemistry | Physical | 9 |
| Chemical Kinetics | Physical | 7 |
| d- and f-Block Elements | Inorganic | 7 |
| Coordination Compounds | Inorganic | 7 |
| Haloalkanes and Haloarenes | Organic | 6 |
| Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers | Organic | 6 |
| Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids | Organic | 8 |
| Amines | Organic | 6 |
| Biomolecules | Organic | 7 |
| Theory total | 70 | |
The balance flips in the board year: organic chemistry now carries 33 of the 70 marks, physical 23 and inorganic 14. A Class 12 student who found Class 11 organic hard therefore meets it again at twice the weight. Our CBSE Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry post has chapter-level advice.
CBSE uses the same practical scheme in Class 11 and Class 12: volumetric analysis 8 marks, salt analysis 8, a content-based experiment 6, the project 4, and the class record with the viva 4. Half of those marks, the titration and the salt, reward practice and logic rather than memory. A tutor can help in three ways: running the titration calculation until the student never forgets the mole ratio, explaining why each preliminary and confirmatory test in salt analysis works so the scheme stops being a list, and checking the record and project as the year goes instead of in the last fortnight.
Changing board after Class 10 is common in Gurugram. A student moving from IGCSE into CBSE usually knows the chemistry but not the NCERT style of answer; one moving from CBSE into the IB knows the content but not the internal investigation. Tell us both boards in the request.
| Learnt in Class 11 | Needed again in Class 12 |
|---|---|
| Mole concept, molar mass, concentration terms | Solutions (molality, colligative properties) and Faraday's laws in electrochemistry |
| Thermodynamics: Gibbs energy and spontaneity | Cell potential and Gibbs energy, ΔG° = −nFE°cell |
| Equilibrium and pH | Electrode equilibria and the Nernst equation |
| Chemical bonding, hybridisation and shapes | Bonding and geometry in coordination compounds |
| Periodic trends | Trends across the d- and f-block elements |
| Inductive and resonance effects, carbocations, carbanions and free radicals | SN1 and SN2 in haloalkanes, acidity of phenols and carboxylic acids, basicity of amines |
| Hydrocarbons and their reactions | Preparation of haloalkanes, alcohols and carbonyl compounds; conversions |
The last two rows explain most of the organic trouble we see in Class 12. If a student cannot say why one carbocation is more stable than another, every mechanism after that is memorised rather than understood, and it falls apart under exam pressure.
The NCERT chapters are the backbone of both the board and the entrance papers, which is good news: one well-planned course serves both. In the 2026 cycle (check the 2027 bulletins when NTA publishes them):
For the board, chemistry rewards complete equations, conditions and explanations; for the entrance papers it rewards speed with the same facts, especially NCERT inorganic lines and organic name reactions. A tutor working alongside coaching should take the coaching sheets as the problem source and spend the session on the reasoning. See NEET chemistry tutors in Gurgaon and JEE chemistry tutors in Gurgaon.
Question. A compound contains 40.0% carbon, 6.7% hydrogen and 53.3% oxygen by mass. Find its empirical formula.
The usual error is dividing the percentages by atomic numbers instead of molar masses.
Question. Find the pH of 0.001 mol L⁻¹ hydrochloric acid at 298 K.
Students who are unsure of logarithms often write −3. The tutor fixes the log rules once, early.
Question. With E°(Zn²⁺/Zn) = −0.76 V and E°(Cu²⁺/Cu) = +0.34 V, find E°cell and ΔG° for Zn + Cu²⁺ → Zn²⁺ + Cu.
This one problem uses Class 11 thermodynamics inside a Class 12 chapter, which is exactly why the two years should be taught as one course.
A tutor follows your school's order of chapters, but this shape works for most Gurugram students:
The Class 11 and Class 12 home tutor guides for Gurgaon show how chemistry fits with the rest of the stream, and the Class 11 and 12 biology page covers the other half of PCB.
Chemistry suits home sessions well, because reaction maps, structures and numericals are easiest to build at a table, on paper. Families near Sector 57 or Sushant Lok Phase 1 usually have senior chemistry tutors within reach after school, and DLF Phase 2 families often combine a home session with online doubt clearing on coaching days. In newer sectors such as Sector 90, a weekly home visit plus online classes is often the way to a stronger specialist. Browse every sector on our page of home tutors in Gurgaon.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Parents often tell us their child's school so the tutor can follow the same board and books. These Gurugram schools follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as shown on each school's own site or its board's directory, with the sector each is in. NXTutors has no tie-up with any school; tutors are matched by board and syllabus, and the list is alphabetical, not a ranking.

Because the subject changes style. Class 10 chemistry is mostly description, while Class 11 is largely calculation: in the CBSE 2026-27 scheme the physical chemistry units (basic concepts, atomic structure, thermodynamics, equilibrium and redox) carry 36 of the 70 theory marks. Moles, logarithms and signs have to become routine early, or every later chapter feels hard.
Organic units carry 33 of the 70 theory marks: haloalkanes and haloarenes 6, alcohols, phenols and ethers 6, aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids 8, amines 6 and biomolecules 7. Physical chemistry carries 23 and inorganic 14. Organic in Class 12 rests on the Class 11 basic principles chapter, so weak spots there should be repaired first.
Both years use the same 30-mark scheme: volumetric analysis 8, salt analysis 8, a content-based experiment 6, the project 4, and the class record with the viva 4. Titration and salt analysis are half the marks, and both improve quickly when a tutor teaches the reasoning behind each step instead of a list to learn.
Yes, and it is often efficient, because NCERT chapters underpin both. In NEET (UG) 2026 chemistry had 45 questions worth 180 of the 720 marks, marked +4 and −1. A tutor working beside coaching uses the coaching sheets for practice and spends sessions on reasoning: why a reaction goes one way, and how to recall NCERT inorganic facts accurately.
Yes. Mention the board and level in your request. ISC chemistry has its own CISCE theory paper, practical and project, and IB Diploma Chemistry runs over Classes 11 and 12 at Standard or Higher Level with an internal investigation, so we shortlist tutors who teach that course, not CBSE alone.
Usually the style more than the content. An IGCSE student often knows the chemistry but not the NCERT way of answering, the CBSE units of physical chemistry or the depth of Class 11 organic basics. A few weeks of NCERT-based answer writing, mole calculations and organic effects before the first unit test normally closes the gap.
Two sessions a week suits most board students; three suits a student catching up on organic or combining the board with NEET or JEE. Keep the slot fixed so it fits around school and coaching, and add a session before the practical exam to rehearse salt analysis and titration calculations.
Fees are set by each tutor and shown before the free demo. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
