Science tutor jobs in Delhi

In Delhi, science tuition is overwhelmingly a CBSE middle-school job. Most families follow NCERT from Class 6, and by Class 9 the three strands, physics, chemistry and biology, have each become demanding enough that a child who was coping starts to slip. That is the moment parents look for a tutor, and they want one who can teach all three properly, with diagrams, numericals and answers written the way the board marks them.

Who asks for science tutors in Delhi

Classes 6 to 8 build the vocabulary of science, and parents ask for help when homework and projects start to pile up or when a child cannot explain what they have read. Class 9 is the turning point: motion and force, atoms and molecules, and tissues arrive together, and gaps left here show up in the board year. Class 10 requests focus on chemical reactions, light, electricity and life processes, practised with the CBSE sample papers and their case-based items.

ICSE families, a sizeable group in Delhi, face Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate papers in Classes 9 and 10, with long answers over a broad syllabus. They want a tutor who can mark for precise terms and complete explanations, not just correct ideas. IGCSE science families, a smaller group, ask about Core and Extended tiers and the practical or alternative-to-practical paper.

Timing follows the school year. The CBSE session opens in April, which is when parents of a new Class 9 or 10 student often start, and a second wave comes after first-term tests in many schools around September. A science tutor who can begin calmly in either window, and who plans revision ahead of pre-boards, is easy to recommend.

Where in Delhi the work is

Middle-school science is local work: families want short lessons two or three times a week, so a tutor who lives in the same sub-city does well. Rohini's sectors, where DDA pockets are usually a straight walk to the flat, and Dwarka's societies, close to Blue Line stations from Sector 8 to 14, both suit this. Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh and Ashok Vihar, with Red and Pink Line stops, are similar.

In the older trans-Yamuna belt, Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar, Krishna Nagar and Shahdara, most homes are separate buildings where you go straight to the floor, and the Blue, Pink and Red Lines are close by; parking is scarce, so metro plus e-rickshaw works better than driving. In South Delhi, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji and CR Park offer dense blocks with good metro access, though festival weeks in CR Park and near the Kalkaji temple are times to switch to morning or online lessons.

What families in Delhi expect

  • All three strands taught at the class level you list, with no strand rushed.
  • Diagrams drawn and labelled by the student, not only shown by the tutor.
  • Numericals with units and steps, especially in Class 9 and 10 physics.
  • CBSE sample papers and case-based questions used regularly from Class 8 onward.
  • For ICSE, separate attention to Physics, Chemistry and Biology and precise definitions.
  • Simple, safe demonstrations with household items where they help.
  • A brief progress note to the parent every few weeks.

How to get picked

Use the demo to show how you teach one idea from start to finish. Ask for the current chapter, explain it with a diagram the student draws alongside you, and end with a few questions the student answers alone. Tell the parent in a sentence or two what you noticed and what you would do next.

List classes and boards exactly on your profile, such as 'CBSE Science Classes 6 to 10, ICSE Chemistry Classes 9 and 10', and the colonies you can reach after school. Offer at least one weekday afternoon slot if you want middle-school students. Families see your fee before booking; see how you get paid further down this page.

Delhi families value a tutor who simply turns up, week after week. If you rely on the metro, plan for the walk from the station and arrive a few minutes early; if a society gate logs visitors, ask to be registered as regular. When a test is coming, let the parent know what you are revising so they can see the plan.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Which science classes are most in demand in Delhi?

CBSE Classes 6 to 10, with Class 9 and 10 the busiest. ICSE families ask for Physics, Chemistry and Biology separately in Classes 9 and 10, and some IGCSE families ask for help with tiers and practical papers.

Is middle-school science mostly home tuition?

Mostly, because families want short, frequent lessons. A tutor who lives in the same sub-city or near the same metro line can usually keep two or three weekly visits.

Do I need to teach all three sciences?

For CBSE up to Class 10, usually yes, as it is one subject. For ICSE you can list only the papers you teach well.

When do Delhi families start looking for science tutors?

Often at the start of the CBSE session in April and again after first-term tests. Some begin in winter, when the focus shifts to sample papers and revision.

Are there zones where I should plan around festivals?

Yes. CR Park's Durga Puja week and festival days near the Kalkaji temple bring very large crowds, so families often move lessons to mornings or online for those days.

Can I teach science to two children in the same family?

Often, yes. Delhi parents sometimes have two children a few classes apart and ask one tutor to take both, one after the other. That works well up to Class 10 if you plan a separate, focused lesson for each child rather than teaching them together.

Does joining NXTutors cost anything?

No. Joining and onboarding are free, and the Free plan includes monthly lead credits. Paid plans are optional.
