Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

The opening lesson is a free demo, at your home or online. Should you want a different tutor later, changing is free. The sections below cover what is particular to Malviya Nagar: narrow lanes, busy markets, one metro station at the southern edge and a lot of floors with separate stairs.

Malviya Nagar began as part of Shahpur Jat village. Wikipedia records that it was settled in the 1950s by families who came from across the new border after Partition, and it has grown in layers since.
What people call Malviya Nagar is really a cluster: Geetanjali Enclave, Navjeevan Vihar, Bhavishya Nidhi Enclave, Shivalik Colony, Begumpur, Sarvodaya Enclave and MMTC Colony all sit under the name. Housing is a patchwork of independent houses, builder floors, DDA flats and small RWA-run apartment blocks. MyGate's neighbourhood guide lists, for example, an RWA-managed block in M Block, apartment buildings in Shivalik, and large floors in Geetanjali Enclave. Property listings for the area are mostly builder floors.
For a tutor, the enclave name changes the visit. A Geetanjali Enclave home is often a large floor on a quieter road, close to the metro gate. A home in the older lettered blocks behind the Main Market may be on a lane where cars are parked on both sides. Begumpur is an old village core with its own lanes. So when you send a request, give the enclave, the block and a landmark, not only "Malviya Nagar".
Working parents here reach Saket District Centre, Nehru Place, Hauz Khas and Gurugram by metro and road. The Delhi Police Training School is also in the area, which gives the PTS traffic light on Sri Aurobindo Marg its name. With shops and markets open late, evenings are busy, and that shapes when a tutor can come and go easily.
We went through public resident reviews on Square Yards and NoBroker for Malviya Nagar and Shivalik. These are the recurring themes, put as planning advice for tuition rather than as complaints.
Most of this is about timing and travel. The two NXTutors defaults help with the rest: every rate is visible before the demo, and a change of tutor is free.
The locality's own Yellow Line stop is underground on Press Enclave Marg, at the southern edge. It opened on 3 September 2010 and has two gates: one opens into Geetanjali Enclave, and the other is the Malviya Nagar side exit. Saket's A Block lies just south of the station, so the stop serves both colonies. Hauz Khas is the next station north, where the Magenta Line meets the Yellow Line, so a tutor coming from the Magenta Line can change once and arrive here.
From the station, most homes in Geetanjali Enclave are a walk. For the older blocks and Begumpur, an e-rickshaw or auto is the usual finish. Wikipedia lists auto stands at the Main Market and at the roundabout near Shivalik Gate, which doubles as a bus depot. If you are near Shivalik, the gate is an easy meeting point for a first visit.
Sri Aurobindo Marg, the long road from central Delhi towards Gurugram, runs along the western side, and the Outer Ring Road runs along another. Press Enclave Marg links the area to Saket, and Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg runs towards Sheikh Sarai and Chirag Delhi. On festival days Delhi Traffic Police have used the PTS Malviya Nagar light on Sri Aurobindo Marg as a diversion point for traffic heading to the Saket malls, so that junction can be slower than usual on those dates.
We start with tutors who already travel to Malviya Nagar or its enclaves, then those in the wider Saket, Malviya Nagar and Hauz Khas guide, then tutors along the Yellow and Magenta Lines. Because travel time here depends so heavily on the hour, we leave minutes out. Ask each tutor where they start, how they travel, and whether they will cross Press Enclave Marg or Sri Aurobindo Marg at the peak.
Malviya Nagar has fewer tower-style security desks than a gated society, but many blocks and enclaves have RWA guards or gates. Plan these small things before the first visit:
As described on our tutor ID check page, anyone joining NXTutors to teach goes through an ID check. That check establishes identity and stops there, with no police or background search, which makes the free demo your chance to see how they teach. If your family wants a woman tutor, say so with the request and the shortlist will reflect it. More on that is on the woman tutor page for Delhi.
CBSE is the board most Malviya Nagar families ask about, and a smaller number want ICSE or ISC. A few households, often in the larger floors of Geetanjali Enclave or Sarvodaya Enclave, ask for IB or Cambridge IGCSE. For those programmes the tutor pool is small, so expect a tutor from further away, and consider one online session a week to cut the travel. In a builder floor with a small study room, the main home-tuition question is space: a table and a quiet hour matter more than the board.
CBSE families should know that Class 10 now has two board exams a year. For the full comparison of boards, read the board comparison guide, or see ICSE tutors in Delhi if your child is on CISCE.
For Classes 1 to 5, parents usually want help with reading, handwriting, maths basics and homework. Short sessions, three or four times a week, suit this age. Because the lanes are busy in the evening, many families choose a slot straight after school, when a tutor can walk in from the station before the market rush.
These years add algebra, more science and longer English writing. A single tutor who covers maths and science is a common choice, because it keeps the number of visitors at the gate down. Ask the tutor how they will check school notebooks each week, not only teach new chapters.
Many Malviya Nagar families move to separate subject tutors in Class 9. Maths and science are the usual pair, with English or social science added before exams. Our Class 10 home tutors in Delhi page sets out what a Class 10 tutor typically covers. A good tutor here plans around the school's test calendar and the two board sittings.
Science students need a physics, chemistry and maths or biology specialist; commerce students ask for accountancy and economics. Specialists are fewer, so the right person may be several stations away on the Yellow Line. Since Malviya Nagar is on that line and one stop from the Magenta Line, a tutor from further off can still come regularly. See physics tutors for Delhi students for that subject in particular.
For JEE or NEET, expect more online options than home ones, and ask how the tutor sets weekly tests alongside school.
CBSE's board papers fall in the late-winter months; in 2026 the main Class 10 sitting ran from mid-February to mid-March, followed by a shorter second sitting in May. Wedding season and festival traffic in the markets often overlap with the revision months, so lock in extra sessions with the tutor by early December. On evenings when the Main Market area is jammed, an online class at the same hour keeps the plan on track. IB and Cambridge candidates should take their exam dates from ibo.org and cambridgeinternational.org.
The right mode depends on your child, but Malviya Nagar's streets tip the balance in a few ways.
A combination is common: home visits on weekdays, an online class on the busiest evening, and a centre only for test series if the child wants it. Use the free demo to test a tutor in the mode you plan to use most.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Malviya Nagar tutors set their own rates, and the rate shows on the shortlist before you book a demo. The main things that push a rate up or down are the class, the board, how deep the subject goes, the tutor's background, how many classes a week you take and how far the tutor has to come. A tutor who lives in a neighbouring enclave may ask less for travel than one coming across the city. Ask how missed classes, exam-time extra sessions and online sessions are charged, so there are no surprises later.
We did not find a public library in Malviya Nagar from a reliable source, so this is a short list. Wikipedia notes several neighbourhood parks here that are popular for jogging, and Satpula, the old Tughlaq-era weir about 800 metres east of Khirki Masjid, is now used as a jogging park. A short walk in either is a good reset between revision blocks. The Khirki Masjid itself, built in 1351–54, and the 1397 Lal Gumbad are history lessons on the doorstep for a curious child.

When a Malviya Nagar parent writes to us, the most useful details are the simplest ones: the class, the board, the school books, the chapters already covered and the days you have free. With those, NXTutors can put forward two or three suitable tutors rather than a long list to sift through. You try each of them in a free demo class.
Malviya Nagar is one of the names in the Saket, Malviya Nagar & Hauz Khas zone, which has twelve pages on NXTutors, among them Saket, Sheikh Sarai and Shivalik. The tutors you see begin with those who live in Malviya Nagar or travel there. Then come tutors from the zone's other pages and from wider Delhi, after which home tutors living in Noida, Greater Noida or Gurugram may appear; online tutors close the page, with those in Delhi first.
If your child's school follows the CBSE syllabus, the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams are conducted by CBSE itself, so a tutor familiar with its papers is a sensible ask. For Classes 6 to 8, a tutor who builds habits, such as neat working in Maths or regular reading in English, can matter more than exam drills.
