Families state the preference in a few common situations. Parents of young children want someone close by for short, frequent visits, often in Bengali or English medium specifically.

Families following IB or IGCSE, the smaller group in Kolkata, sometimes combine the preference with a specialist subject. Because the local pool of IB tutors is thinner, they often keep the preference and accept online or hybrid lessons. A woman tutor who offers a weekend home visit with weekday online classes fits that need well.

Parents may write whether the preference is fixed or just preferred, and a family that is flexible may also see other tutors if few women can travel to them. The gender you choose on your own profile is what places you in the results families filter.

Kolkata's metro makes station-to-door work practical. A Behala tutor can keep to the Purple Line from Joka to Majerhat; a Garia tutor to the Blue Line stations through Tollygunge and Kalighat to Shyambazar; a Salt Lake or Howrah tutor to the Green Line through Sealdah and Esplanade. • Use a room the family shares, such as the drawing room, for younger children.

At the demo, confirm a parent is home, settle the gate or bell arrangement for future visits and agree the weekly slot before you leave. If you teach a specialist course such as ISC physics, HS Life Science in Bengali medium or IGCSE maths, say so plainly. Those combinations are harder for families to find within a short trip, and a woman tutor who offers them, even partly online, is often the only fit for a family who has stated a firm preference.
