Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Kasba & EM Bypass South, Kolkata
The Orange Line has changed this zone for tutors. Until recently, reaching the southern stretch of the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass meant a long road trip for anyone not already living there. Now stations along the bypass mean a tutor from Garia or Beleghata can arrive by metro, which widens the set of tutors who can realistically list Kasba, Santoshpur, Mukundapur and Patuli as travel areas.

The bypass itself became operational in 1982 and runs from Ultadanga in north Kolkata to Baruipur. The zone along its southern stretch has two generations of housing. The inner paras of Kasba, which grew after a rail overbridge opened in 1978 and a connector road linked it to the bypass, and of Santoshpur keep family houses and small buildings from the decades when the area was first settled. The land closer to the bypass, especially in Mukundapur, is filled with newer apartment projects behind a gate. Patuli is different again: the Baishnabghata Patuli Township, developed by the KMDA for about 55,000 people with about 4,500 serviced plots, is a planned township of blocks with plots for family houses, group-housing apartments and land set aside for markets.
The Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay section of the Orange Line was inaugurated on 6 March 2024, and the line was extended to Beleghata on 22 August 2025, with commercial services from 25 August. Stations on the southern bypass include Satyajit Ray at Panchasayar, Jyotirindra Nandi at Mukundapur, Kavi Sukanta at Kalikapur, Hemanta Mukhopadhyay at Ruby crossing and VIP Bazar, with Kavi Subhash at the southern end near Patuli.
On the rail side, Ballygunge Junction, Jadavpur and Baghajatin serve the western edge of the zone, and Santoshpur is within reach of Jadavpur and Baghajatin. A tutor using any of these usually finishes by auto.
Requests across Kolkata cover CISCE's ICSE and ISC, CBSE, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education's Madhyamik and the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education's Classes 11 and 12, plus some IB or IGCSE. The zone research notes that online tutors suit specialist subjects here when no one nearby can take them. Write your boards, classes and teaching language, Bengali or English, in plain words.
Families here often weigh a complex's gate rules against the convenience of a lesson at home. The list they receive starts with tutors who live in Kasba, Santoshpur, Mukundapur or Patuli, then tutors who travel to the bypass side, then those from elsewhere in Kolkata, then online tutors. Two or three are sent. If you live on the Orange Line or near Jadavpur or Baghajatin station, adding these localities is a straightforward step.
The two kinds of housing also suggest two kinds of week. Families in the older paras of Kasba and Santoshpur may want a weekday home visit at a regular hour, while those in the bypass complexes may prefer a weekend visit with online support during the week, when the junctions are heavy. Listing your free hours and both modes on your profile lets each family see quickly whether your week fits theirs.
Complexes in Mukundapur and near the Kasba connector usually register visitors. Ask the family to send your name and lesson time to the gate before the demo, and ask for a standing entry for regular classes. In the inner paras of Kasba and Santoshpur, you usually go straight to the door. In Patuli, ask for the block and plot number, which locate almost any plot house in the township; for a group-housing apartment, ask for the flat number too.
The bypass junctions and the Kasba connector are at their worst in the evening rush. Families near the bypass often book afternoon or weekend lessons, or pick a tutor who travels by metro. If your route uses the Orange Line, the rush matters less until the auto ride at the end, so plan that leg with the family. Two students near neighbouring stations, such as Jyotirindra Nandi and Satyajit Ray, can be taught one after the other in a single evening.

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Jyotirindra Nandi at Mukundapur and Satyajit Ray at Panchasayar are the closest Orange Line stations, with Kavi Sukanta further north. Santoshpur also has Jadavpur and Baghajatin on the suburban lines.
